4441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna - July 19 on: June 29, 2022, 10:36:36 PM
^ Maybe that's a mistake on Fortuna side to bad mouth Garcia using his "mental" state issues. Fortuna claim that Garcia duck him in their first fight and hide on the reason of that.

Quote
“He’s talking a lot of trash to me, saying that I made an excuse with my mental health, that it wasn’t real, that I was a coward for it, and I’m a duck, I just want to avoid him. Well, I believe when he’s in that ring with me that he’ll find out real soon that ‘oh, there’s nothing scared about this guy.’”

https://www.badlefthook.com/2022/6/23/23179821/ryan-garcia-warns-javier-fortuna-not-quit-next-fight-dazn-boxing-news-2022

So this might be something personal for Garcia now that Fortuna touch a sensitive topic about Garcia and then make fun of it.

Well, that sounds pretty interesting to me. I'd like to see Garcia so fired up especially now that he got more reasons to end the fight with an impressive results unlike what he got last time against Tagoe. Garcia just needed some extra push to get him back on track and unfortunately, Fortuna is the one who gave him that extra push he needed and that will make him regret soon. I just hope that Garcia can really back his words.

He is always fired up, just see how he goes on Tank during his fight against Romero. He even goes as far as to talk to Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather promotions and ask for a fight with Davis. So we will see in his second fight coming if he is on track or not. So he better perform above against Fortuna, show us his power and should win by knockout.
4442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unpredicted rise of BTC in 2022-2023 despite predicted bear market on: June 29, 2022, 11:05:52 AM
Usually the end of the bear market is somewhat after the bitcoin block halving. So it will happen if I'm not mistaken on block 840,000. So that will be around April-May 2024, most likely give or take some months, then we will see some recovery. So bull cycle might start around that timeframe 2024 and not 2025.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Quote
But this 4-year cycle theory may not consider the rise of a) interest in digital assets, b) possible metavesre market spread, c) the rise of productive capacity due to digitilized world and so - the interest in digital sector of economy

Still rise base on the basic tenant of supply and demand.
4443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The new bounty stopped coming? on: June 29, 2022, 09:14:37 AM
Many may wonder why the new bounty has stopped coming in. I think the current state of the market and the collapse of the BTC have reduced prices by about two-thirds.  So no one is going to bring any new project in the field with risk because not only BTC or BTC but also BNB and Ether have come down in price.  No and the boundary is not new so you wait for the new one to come forward if it becomes normal as before hopefully it will become normal as before.  Wait time. Hope BTC will come back like before. Thank you.

Yap, the pretty much explain it, since we are in a bear market, no project wants to start it at the wrong foot. So they will have to wait or gamble and released it in this kind of situation. But there are no assurance that investors are willing to pour their money right now. Plus, there is still the war and then inflation all over the world. So most likely investors are going for a "wait and see" attitude.

Of course, if BTC goes down, everyone is affected, including BNB and Ethereum. Normalcy will come back, but it mike take sometime.
4444  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto prices crash as threat of war looms on: June 29, 2022, 07:57:28 AM
If we pay attention to the trend since the war, of course this can be true, but I'm sure that the thing that makes crypto drop is due to inflation that occurs globally, this makes many people have to sell crypto to meet their needs, pay debts and so on. If there is good news about an improved economy then I'm sure investors will return to Crypto soon.

Everything is connected, as war in the background and then we still have the covid-19 issues so every country is suffering. And we haven't recovered from the devastating effects of covid-19 and yet we have the war in Europe that really takes shape and affected everything, from wheat, to oil to manufacturing that spills to Nasdaq, Nikkei and Crypto market. So I'm not seeing a improved economy in the next couple of years and even if the war will stop it will still have a devastating after effect.
4445  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Incoming BSP Governor's take on cryptocurrencies on: June 29, 2022, 07:17:56 AM
Nabasa ko nga to nung isang araw pa, mahigpit talaga sila lalo na ang incoming BSP government, so far ang approved 'digital bank' lang ay:

Quote
In 2021, the central bank approved the licenses of six digital banks, namely: Overseas Filipino Bank of Land Bank of the Philippines (March 25, 2021); Tonik Bank of Singapore (June 3, 2021); UNObank of Singapore (June 3, 2021); UnionDigital of Union Bank of the Philippines (July 15, 2021): GOtyme of Robinsons Bank Corp. (August 12, 2021); and Maya Bank, owned by PayMaya of PLDT Inc. (September 16, 2021). Supposedly, there should be seven approved digital banks for the next three years but the remaining applicants failed to meet the requirements.

https://bitpinas.com/regulation/bsp-medalla-digital-banks/

4446  Economy / Economics / Re: Irrelevance of Education in Nigeria. on: June 29, 2022, 06:41:37 AM
The adage (school na scam)by most Nigerian is becoming realistic.for a country to grow and develop,it most invest in is human capital.presently.universities, polytechnics and colleges are on strike.the educational system of the country is very poor.

Another problem is high unemployment rate: most graduate that are are qualified and ready to work, are not employed which is decrease the rate at which people go to school.
With the poor educational system of the country, skills acquisition and empowerment is also low which worsened the situation.

So I guess it boils down on the government, every underdeveloped and developing countries have problem with education, even here in our country (Philippines), we have any educational program called K-12. It's because after graduation, it seems the the students needs more experience that's why they are extended and be qualified. Others try to work abroad and migrate because the job force is not enough here. Nevertheless, we still valued our educational system and everything starts from the government.

Latest trades,  Sources: New York Knicks trade Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks to Detroit Pistons, clear cap space for Jalen Brunson pursuit.

Quote
The New York Knicks traded center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Detroit Pistons -- clearing $19 million in additional salary-cap space -- and they are now able to make an overwhelming contract offer in the neighborhood of $110 million to free-agent guard Jalen Brunson, sources told ESPN.

I'm not really sure New York's obsession with Jalen Brunson, don't get me wrong, his a good player no doubt and second option for Luka in Dallas, but ti seems that they are giving so much players including two future draft picks just to have a inside trade on Jalen for a max contract?
4448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bear markets are a time for building, development and research on: June 29, 2022, 03:42:14 AM
I'm thinking the same. Do the research for new alts when it was on the bull market but buy any top alts when it was on the bear market. Top alts are the key. You will be safe since those at the top CMC would easily weather out any upcoming fall from the bear market and in long run, will back to its feet and price in long run.

Some of them are failing but most are fine at the end of the day, you might land on the wrong project if you just blindly choose those and do not making your own research about their current development and future updates. since the bear market is not near its end, it's better to hold your money and decide later when the time is right to put your money in the crypto market waiting for the near bull run to ensure your investment safety.

There will be altcoins that will die on this current bear market, I think it's part of the cycle as well. But we all know that when one died, then replacement will pop up so it will go on. That's why in a bear market, solid altcoins, the top 10 are the best one to invest. I learn it during the 2018 bear market, wherein I invested on ETH and others and then just wait for the next bull run to happen.

I saw a thread suggesting that new coins will bring big profit. This is true, however, these new projects that might bring big profit are harder to find during a bear market. This is not anymore a market where you can buy the most stupid coin similar to memecoins and profit 100x. This time we need to do more research on the project, what it does, the tokenomics, how much coins or tokens are issued and how much are emitted daily, weekly or monthly and the development team, if they are good and if they have enough funds to develop the project all throughout the bear market.

Also, it is important that you should not be wasteful with the money, bitcoins or stablecoins you have left for investing. The market might be bad for months, years or longer. Be cautious and do the research. Invest in good development teams.

This is wrong (atleast to me). The bear market is not the time to research at all, as an investor the bear market is the time to invest because you should have done your research and prepared your funds to join the dipped coins purchase once it goes very low. When you resume research when the market is poor, you end up buying shit coins or pump coins and do not get desired profits.

The bear market is the time to take action and load your bags, the time to do the research of what to buy is before the bear market. I call it preparation before purchase to get maximum profits

What he was explaining is that you can't just throw your hard earn money on some random projects and then hope that it will give you 10x or more in the future. That's not how altcoin investing it, if you don't want to investigate and DYOR then it's better to invest on the top 10 as I have said previously. Meme coins will just be another pump and dump and if you are late, your money might be trap inside once the dump happen and you didn't sell on time.

4450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: June 28, 2022, 11:39:32 PM

^^ That's the odds that my favorite bookies released just recently and it is somewhat interesting because the way i see it, it's almost even though Magsayo is the slight underdog but it is not what i expected because in my mind the odds for Magsayo would be at least @3 but i'm still happy with that.

1.71 for Vargas, 2.02 for Magsayo latest odds.

Nah, they are not willing to give Magsayo that 3.x odds that we are expecting, Lol. Because sport bookies knows that Magsayo is a live underdog here and definitely has the tools to beat Vargas with his power alone. But still good or us, double our money right now if we are going to bet this early as the odds might slid a bit and we might see like 1.89 odds as we get closer to the fight date.
4451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 28, 2022, 11:17:49 PM
Well, Manny Pacquiao already retired in the boxing industry last year because he was already busy doing other works and the other reason is that he's running for president in the Philippines which eventually he lost last month. And as you stated, Manny Pacquiao is already an established business man, celebrity, a legend, a politician, and surely those things can support his family including his future grandkids.

There is a lot of circulated news by some random source that Manny Pacquiao might return to the ring. I'm not sure if one of those is even close to becoming legit but for me personally, I think if Pacquiao will able to have some lots of spare time again, he will go back to ring in an exhibition match as the only reason he retires is that he seeks the presidency that requires full-time effort.

Let's wait and see.
Indeed, rumors says that Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather will share a ring again to have a last dance for an exhibition fight but that remains a speculation for now as Pacquiao's camp is still resting and taking some time to bond to his family because he exhausted his time and efforts for the presidential race few months ago. Let's if that will happen or not, soon!

Even Amir Khan says that coach Roach reach out to him to have a Manny Pacquiao fight whether exhibition or boxing match in London.

We may have a great fight on July 30 on Showtime,

Danny Garcia vs Jose Benavidez at 154 lbs.

For sure some of you might be familiar with the name Danny Garcia as he was once a 147 lbs champions. But he lost to some of the best welterweight that time, Spence, Thurman and Porter. Now he decided to move up to 154 lbs and challenge one of the most dangerous fighter in that division. Years ago Benavidez put a good fight against Crawford.
4452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another "Bitcoin Is Here To Stay" Thread 😁. on: June 28, 2022, 10:50:41 PM
I guess people resist changes, like can the internet change the old and traditional way we read newspapers? that what the argument against internet as early as 1995. But then again how many newspapers and magazines was killed if they didn't adapt to the changing times, all of them did become online.

So that might be the same plight for bitcoin and crypto, will people going to used the old and traditional fiat and banking system? or those needs to adapt as well (we have CBCD's already and then banks embracing crypto).
4453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to gambling with money. on: June 28, 2022, 10:24:07 PM
There has been a lot of apps that you play with fake money, like slots, card games and others that simulate real games with real money. But still I don't think there is thrill with playing this games because at the back of our mind this is still fake. Gamblers wanted that adrenaline rush, but they will not get it from this fake games.

On the contrary, it will make them more addicted in my opinion, because it will make them to play the real stuff once they got money in their wallets. If someone wants to stop gambling, then simply disengage yourself from any activity related to it.
4454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Among all which do you hold on: June 28, 2022, 12:53:42 PM
Hello I have thought of holding 4 particular currencies which includes BTC, ETH, BNB, UCT. But within me I feels I should trade with them to accumulate more of those currencies maybe before the bear will be finally over I would have ended up having much of them I engaged myself by trading.

I want to know if holding or trading will be more preferred. All suggestions are welcomed.

Same with the 3, BTC, ETH and BNB are the one that I hold right now.

Not sure what you mean by trade, but if by any means, buy and sell them, then why not? The thing though is that if you don't have the experience in trading, definitely might be difficult at the start. But if you want to learn and definitely you will experience some losses then yeah, try it yourself. Just remember that you are in a bear market, so it's really hard to make money by trading because chances are the price will go down even with that 3 crypto's that you hold.
4455  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price with a 4 year cycle? on: June 28, 2022, 11:22:59 AM
what if the 4 year cycle of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies changes?, indeed we still don't know because it is still like 2018,
and the determination is if the price of Bitcoin drops below $15k of course everything will sell Bitcoin and create panic,
and maybe 4 year cycle will change, hopefully not!, because we still believe Bitcoin can go to $100k
basically bitcoin didn't really hit $100k in 2021 yesterday where a lot of people thought a 4 year cycle would push on that price but sadly it didn't happen, mid last year the price slumped the same as the middle of this year so think positive to continue the next ATH without another 4 year cycle

I would say it's because some entity try to push that hard last year, that bitcoin will breach $100k base on some price modeling. So now we are back to basics, I mean the price tank after that, went as low as $17k and we still didn't think it will the lowest low in this bear market.

So maybe in the next bull cycle, we might see $100k and with that, the trend will continue, unless there is some changes along the way. But I highly doubt it, 2017 and 2021 is bullish, and then the next run should be in 2025.
4456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna - July 19 on: June 28, 2022, 10:17:16 AM
Yes, but he can't get out Davis out of his mouth, hehehe,

Ryan Garcia To Gervonta Davis: I Will Whoop Your Ass, Put You To Sleep!.

Not a good sign though if he keeps on talking about the next boxer he wants to fight because he still have someone in front of him next month. So he better not skip and be over confident against Fortuna because a loss will mean that all of his dream and big money fights are not going to happen because he will be back to zero again.
You got that right, this kid needs to focus on what's in front of him first. What's in his imagination might not happen if he keeps on underestimating Javier Fortuna.
It would be acceptable if his last fight was a TKO to say it would be a short night for Fortuna, but it's not. After that change of head trainer to Goossen his last game against Tagoe was a UD.
Let's see, it's easy to talk trash but you should have the power to back it up.
Was it July 19 or 16? Title says 19 but I am seeing 16.
He was too confident in the fight against Fortuna right now and actually it wasn't too good to be overconfident like this because there would be a gap in his mind that would make this a disaster for himself.
Confidence was good but talking about the next fight before finishing the approaching duel now sounded like underestimating Fortuna.
I know he has quality but it's still not completely decided that he can win.

Yes, that's what I said, sometimes when a boxer is too overconfident, it will backfire on them. Goosen will still train Ryan here, maybe it really affected his performance since he used to be under Reynoso. But he is still young and could learn a lot from Goosen and perhaps we would see it in this next fight against Fortuna. And maybe if he score a knock out, he can call Tank Davis again for a fight.

I edited it, the fight is going to happen on July 16.
4457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 28, 2022, 09:35:40 AM
I don't see why any team would want to keep Anthony Davis or acquire him. He is injured and sits out more then half of every season since entering the NBA. The Lakers are just bleeding money keeping his bum ass.

Simply because he's the most consistent player, I think in the whole league, that even after an injury or long-hiatus, you can expect him to produce big numbers once he returned which most players can't do. There's no such thing as recovering the rhythm or adjusting to the situation for this guy. If you will do some recap of last season, Anthony Davis always goes rampage once he returns to the court. He's by far the consistent Laker player on the roster.

Even injury-prone, teams are likely to gamble as it is worth it instead of getting good names but showing inconsistencies in the game. Anyways, yes I agree it's a waste that the Lakers can't utilize him much because he is soft. I hope next season, he will remain healthy all year to make the competition tough.
He is young, that's another fact and this might also be the prime of his career so there's no doubt someone will snatch him if the Lakers let him go.
Injuries now are fixed faster, give a player a year, and later on, he is on the bench cheering and jumping for his team as if nothing happened.
Let's not also forget how he took everything on his shoulder on their bubble championship.
The memory is still fresh when he said "It's all on me." And he did prove it's on him from the unforgettable buzzer-beater 3-point to contributing a lot although he didn't get the Finals MVP.

As I have said previously, perhaps just some chances on his training regimen or even have to go to several sports science doctors might have help him to minimize his injuries. He is still a good player in my opinion, it's just the circumstances around him. So I expect still good things for him when he comes back and hopefully he will still be in the Lakers uniform. And maybe those role players around them will be upgraded so that they can find the perfect fit again.
4458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Mark Magsayo vs Rey Vargas WBC Featherweight Title (July 9) on: June 27, 2022, 11:59:51 AM
Nevertheless, this might be the one, specially if he wins in an emphatic fashion against a tough Mexican Warrior in Vargas. And for sure winning by a knock out will put him in notice for fans, analyst and even networks.

A clean Knockout win or a full dominance in every round By Magsayo - should make people convinced that he won the fight clearly.

There's really not convinced at how Magsayo won against Russell but for me, it's not that he will be expected to dominate easily the fight just because the latter is handicapped and dealing with a shoulder injury. Russell, despite his injury, is still performing well and gives Magsayo a hard road to win.

Moving forward, let's just wait and see if Magsayo will show a championship instinct in this fight. After all, this is only his first title defense since he snatches the title from Russell. Let's give him a break and just judge him after this fight.

We can always used that argument against Magsayo, his performance against Russell or against Julio Ceja wherein his power save him from that fight. So it's a win for him regardless, I guess you can put the blame of Russell, if he is injured before the fight then maybe he shouldn't go in the first place. But if Magsayo wins here perhaps a rematch with Russell? Anyway, the fight is just two weeks from now, we shall see how built Magsayo is for his fight.

He can give Russell a rematch so no more doubts about his win, and yes, the fight is coming and hopefully Magsayo will win impressively. Power is not only the key here, Magsayo has the power but lack of skills in boxing, he should know how to score even if he could not KO his opponent as it's very important against a technical fighter.

I think we might see a vastly 'improved' Magsayo here, he knows the noise on his win against Russell Jr. And Roach will have to put up a better plan against Vargas. And maybe they already had it to the tee before this fight. And there could be some adjustments along the way. Just like how he guided Manny to become learn how to used his right as a jab, perhaps Roach will developed Mark into a complete fighter and this fight will be the first time that we will see a different Mark Magsayo, not just pure and raw power, but there could be a lot of head movements and angles.
4459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 27, 2022, 11:32:27 AM
Actually, SMB's outside shooting was also clicking that game, especially Marcio who had some great contributions from the 3 point area.

I saw the old Lassiter in that game, there was no hesitation from him and the shot was really accurate.

He had 12 points and he was 3 of 7 from outside.
However if you look at the stats, it was really the rebounding that made a big difference in this game, and it was dominated by the SMB.

SMB total rebounds was 62 and 21 of that are offensive rebounds, while Converge only has 32 rebounds, see the big difference.

But 12 points in a game is not like an old Lassiter.

Anyway, what's important is they bounced back after a loss and had a dominant win against the new team. Their rebounding prove that they are ready to dominate their opponent, so if JMF will play like during his MVP seasons, most likely SMB will get the championship this season.

Perhaps it was a good game for Lassiter, 12 points might be not that high, but showing some old form of himself.

They should really specially with JMF around, and yeah I would say they are pretty much stacked up. Maybe they will need to find a way to have the 'death five' again, but this time old faces and then new names for them.
4460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna - July 19 on: June 27, 2022, 11:00:51 AM

That even help him realize that he is not invincible, thing is, he is still undefeated until now because he knows how to stand up and finish the fight with a win. Every boxer has a weakness and I believe that Ryan Garcia have already improve himself so that will not happen again.

Good thing that he has that capability, but we never know maybe from those past fights but when it came to a title fight, we really can't tell if the opponent will allow him to stand back once they already seen the open opportunities to knock him down, but until we see that time then we can say that he really improves or he can stand and ignores those heavy combinations.

Again, there are many opportunities for this young fighter he just need to keep winning and continue establishing his path.

Yes, but he can't get out Davis out of his mouth, hehehe,

Ryan Garcia To Gervonta Davis: I Will Whoop Your Ass, Put You To Sleep!.
