4461  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoins has a great future in India? on: September 05, 2015, 02:01:33 PM

There is no such thing as bad publicity.
The media attention on Silk Road probably got a lot of people's attention and initiated people into Bitcoin (not necessarily to buy drugs).

There is because while alot of "cyberpunks" got interested, bad stories like that keep big investors away unfortunately.

Imagine if we can convince Bill Gates or Warren Buffett to invest 10 billion $ each, into bitcoin. It would be a better publicity than 1000 new nerds joining bitcoin just to do faucets...
4462  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: September 05, 2015, 01:57:37 PM
I did, I gambled a bit on satoshidice:  http://satoshidice.com

I earned ~0.04 BTC in total, it was a nice gamble Cheesy

it seems these days you're lucky Smiley it looks like you have a good trick too. What tricks do you use? martingale?

I dont really gamble usually, but this time i made an exception as i was bored, so it turned out really good in the end.

No i didnt used martingale i just picked low odds ~15% with 6x payout then i got a winning streak and i ended up with 0.04 BTC Smiley
4463  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: September 05, 2015, 01:55:03 PM
Food, especially in my region.. It would really cool to pay with BTC  Cool

Yes that would be nice, but since usually people think of bitcoin as money won not earned.

They would spend it like madman. Even if bitcoin is already a currency, which it is, people dont realize that subconsciously (not even me), so they will go in a shopping spree and spend all their money, which will be good for the economy, but bad for them.
4464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What vision do you have for bitcoin's blockchain on: September 05, 2015, 01:45:49 PM
For example you can code in a set of GPS corrdinate of a piece of land in blockchain and name of its owner, but how can you prove that this person is the real owner of that land?

Yes exactly, for example for a farmland:

You can have 10-20 trustees measuring the farmlands GPS coordinates whenever it gets sold, then they all input it, and all farmland would be put in a decentralized registry, so that everybody would know which belongs to whom (with some private info hidden for unauthorized personal to preserve some privacy)

Then when it gets sold again, the new buyer can see immediately the size of the land , even with google maps technology, or something similar, and when the transaction is completed in front of other trustees, the ledger gets updated with the new buyers info.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is 1 case, but the first one would be an ID system, based on PGP or a decentralized version of it. Instead of ID,Social Security numbers or whatever you got in your country. You would have a public key / private key system for all ID verification.

You would get the private key after you hit 16, and the public key would be used to interact in the world. And whenever you feel your private key gets compromized, you can change it, but the new key would be derived from the old one, in a way to be able to track your identity, but to not reveal the new password.
4465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: September 05, 2015, 01:32:46 PM
Litecoin is a backup for bitcoin, as i view it.

If bitcon gets fucked by this blocksize debate, the most likely litecoin will take its place.

All merchants can easily integrate litecoin just like bitcoin, so the transition would be very fast.
4466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? on: September 05, 2015, 01:31:17 PM
Why isnt this poll still open?

But still i did the same research and I found very similar results, so it is correct, even with small sample size:

4467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starting a fund to create an underwater Bitcoin Artificial Reef! on: September 05, 2015, 01:28:39 PM
Well I have no idea how much this project would be demanded by locals but sure go with it why not.

But also make it easy to monetize on it, so that you can return the money back into bitcoin with interest.

Just collecting bitcoins, and then shoveling it into fiat will only hurt bitcoin, so you should instead make it monetizable and then slowly pump back the money into bitcoin again!
4468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to get the most bang for your buck with bit coin? on: September 05, 2015, 01:26:40 PM
Proof of stake coins. I ve made a lot of money with staking, equality profitable as mining, much safer and much simpler.

POS coins but with no instamine , POW mixing or other crap.

Also POS should be solid and innovative not some junk coin with funny names/ immature developers.
4469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine May Soon Legalize Bitcoin on: September 05, 2015, 01:24:31 PM
What do you mean legalize? Was it illegal before? I dont think so.

So the proper term would be "accredit" or "embrace" , just to not get confused by semantics.
4470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We could build a democracy out of bitcoin, here's how on: September 05, 2015, 01:21:37 PM
We don't want democracy. In democracies 10 sheeps vote is better than 9 professors. The right one is not always the most voted. I'm strongly against this proposition.

Indeed bitcoin should be run as a corporation.

It should be % ownership  based voting, just like in a corporation.

The fact that 100000 newbies come in, each with 10 satoshis gained from faucet payments, just to distort the voting mechanism is a bad idea.

Democracy is flawed, both in real life, as in here, we need a capitalist solution here, so it should be a % ownership based vote!
4471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today, one year after Hal Finney's Death on: September 05, 2015, 01:19:12 PM
Rest in peace man.

He will be one of the most influential cryptographers of our era contributing alot to bitcoin. I hope he wasnt satoshi, because then we lost the creator! Sad
4472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone wants to pay me 3.0 BTC to tattoo my wallets QR code on my neck! on: September 05, 2015, 01:17:53 PM
What do you think! I have never received a tattoo in my life and it's somewhat against my families German / Polish culture!

But if there's one thing I would tattoo it would probably be my wallets QR code or the BTC symbol or the "POWER" sign we all see on our computers ON/OFF Button Smiley

Discuss!

If you post something interested please share your BTC (or any other form of cryptocurrency address for a generous donation <3)

It would be a horrible idea, what if you change your BTC address? Then you will be stuck with an invalid BTC address for the rest of your life.

Maybe tatoo it on your arm, it is easier to remove it from there if its needed!
4473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal to add Bitcoin symbol to Unicode on: September 05, 2015, 01:14:44 PM

I don't know about the alphabet as it is old, but i think just in case if it is required who will sign as there is no owner.

Yes but if there is no intellectual property claim on in then why would they need anybody to sign it?

Its its really important then for formalities those 2 institutions could assume representative roles, but otherwise it is a public domain entity, so it's the same as letter "a".
4474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Malware on: September 05, 2015, 01:12:30 PM
Linux.

No anti-this and anti-that software. Ditch Windows and use Linux, you'll avoid most of these types of attacks.
If you are looking for a linux version that has a windows feel I suggest Linux Mint, you can use wine for most windows programs but games have a lot of compatibility issues.

Don't forget linux is free :http://www.linuxmint.com/

Is linuxmint more secure than ubuntu?

What are the differences between the 2?

What about keyloggers, webcam trojans, clipboard stealers, kernel malware and screen capture malware?

4476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal to add Bitcoin symbol to Unicode on: September 05, 2015, 12:58:09 PM
Great idea to include Bitcoin symbol in Unicode  Cheesy

as long as it does not became a trend with every altcoin out there, and i think this is partially the reason why it was not added yet, i'm supporting this also

Ok but other altcoin barely have any support, bitcoin will be our main currency, and with a 3.5 billion market cap I think it deserves a unicode sign.

I think bitcoin has reached the point to be considered a real currency, so i hope they will implement it soon!

It deserves but if it is needed to sign any document who will do that? we know that satoshi has been disappeared?

Bitcoin foundation? Or the MIT labs that took over the bitcoin development.

Since bitcoin doesnt have any owner i dont think anyone is eligible to sign it. Who signed the document to include the letter "a" in the alphabet?
4477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's make a chart showing where most BTC usage is in the USA! on: September 05, 2015, 12:55:30 PM

You mean something like http://fiatleak.com

Is fiatleak only counting the buy orders? Or the net change in realtime?

Because if it counts only buy orders then it sucks, because the same amount of sell orders happen too (thats why the price doesnt change), so its very misleading.
4478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need advices and help about Bitcoin's world on: September 05, 2015, 12:49:20 PM
Hello everyone,

My name's Najib. I an newbie here in the forum and starter with the Bitcoin world.

So please i need your advices and help about this issue, how to make bitcoins easly and for free if possible, what i have to do exactly.

Excuse me for my english it is not my native language

Thanks for everyone can answer me and help. Kiss

By free you mean free of capital.

But never free of labour. You either spend money, or you spend time & labour, there is no 3rd option.

So i see that you probably dont have money, so you can probably start by working here, i already made a thread about this:

4479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you differentiate you portfolio? on: September 05, 2015, 12:44:34 PM
As you can see my profile text, I own LTC,NXT, NMC , and other cryptos, to hedge the bitcoin price volatility.

NMC made a nice gain so far, while LTC will probably make me gain more. NXT performed badly this week, but they are working on new wallets and new features hard so I think as a long term investment its perfect, if they finish that, then by the end of the year it could hit 6000-7000 satoshi.
