Beep is definetly from motherboard speaker. It beeps everytime the pc posts.
I also tried plugging it in a different pci-e x1 slot on the motherboard
try unplugging all of the cards, and then plugging ONE in, using pci-e x1 -> x16.

What the hell happened here? one (or more) of the pool stats pages is down, but they're still putting out blocks.

have you tried dummy plugs? (i know it's a stretch, but I'm out of ideas)

i think it would be more profitable to build self contained, self powered mining modules that connect using wifi

This is not a prediction it is simple math.
Let's say I have a child. He was 0.5 m last year, and now he's 0.8 m. Now according to my calculations, in his sixties, he should be around 17 m tall.

Some of the listings deserve to be removed, like one that was selling 0.01 btc for $6

not looking good.

I would buy from tecshare (who I've done business with before) WAY before I would buy anything from that shitty chinese deal site. I don't have 3 weeks to wait for them to ship some knock off shit from the other side of the world to me.
that's kinda funny, really. the pictures shown on the site is IDENTICAL to the one that techshare posted. Even the number on the sticker matches. techshare's picture customer's photo (from the site i posted) I'm not hating on techshare, nothing against him.

Grue, I don't see why you're harassing this guy for simply trying to sell something in the Bitcoin economy. He stated it all beforehand...if people want to buy it, they will. Period.
obviously edited. also, all I'm pointing out is the truth. It saves both the seller (wondering why he's not getting any buyers), and the buyer (from finding out that he overpaid 2x) from some grief. Sure, it's in BTC, but why would any sane person pay such a high premium? he might as well sell his btc on an exchange, and use the money to buy a much cheaper one. also, https://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=16213.0

It would be nice if the payout limit was lower. 1 btc is a bit high, considering its current value. Lower it to 0.5 or 0.25.

I've noticed that there are some pools that are stickied in the pools subforum. Does this imply endorsement by the moderators/administration? I don't think it's a good idea to sticky the biggest pools, or any pools for that matter, because it kills the whole point of decentralization. There has been a thread on this before, but for some reason, the pools have been re-stickied. Unstickied and sorted.
I don't think it was necessary a bad idea. He did it before I created the subcategories. Having all the major options stickied seems helpful to me. (I don't read the mining section, though.)

Do they increase the dificulty every 2 weeks?
it could decrease as well.

You really must have no life. I keep reading about how one of the main problems of Bitcoin is the lack of retailers. I wonder why with geniuses like you around.
>no one sells widgets for bitcoin >some guy sells for 10x the price, in bitcoin >claims he's helping the bitcoin economy out same story, really. .

save me a spot!
a question though. Do i append your link to my signature, or do i replace my signature with your link?

side note: I don't like how moderators just pinned a shitload of topics. It's completely useless, and it clutters up the forum.

deepbit got its turn, now it's slush's pool, and possibly btcguild. STOP MINING AT SLUSH/BTCGUILD, YOU'RE COMPROMISING THE SECURITY OF BITCOIN!!111!1

I'd add: - RAM - only use one stick to save a few Watts, even if going for 2GB. One 2GB stick uses the same amount of power as a 1GB stick - CPU - downclock and undervolt it to save power. Pretty much all CPUs should run at 1-1.5 GHz and =< 1V. Also, if using a multi-core CPU, disable all but one core. And if using a hyperthreading-enabled CPU, disable that too. - Video cards - downclock the memory to save power and possibly improve performance (depending on model of card and operating system). On a 1GB video card you can save some 20-30W per card, depending on original and final memory clock. To hit optimal performance, you will have to experiment, as the sweet spot can be anywhere in the 180-400 MHz range - PSU - ignore the total wattage and focus on just the 12V rail. Single 12V rail is the better design for mining, as opposed to multiple 12V rails
I would emphasize that CPU speed really doesn't matter. My main mining rig is running an Athlon X2 4200 @ 1ghz to save on power.
Also that the most important thing with power supplies is the amount of wattage/amperage available on the 12v rail(s). Do not just simply look at the overall power (ex: 600watts) written on the front of the box. I have a 400w Enermax that puts out more 12v power then some 700w PSU's i've seen on Newegg.
basicly its okay. but hardly 58x0 is max "cost/effective", cuz 69x0 already cost as much[you can get 6950 for ~$250 today] and do more MH/s, but they more "power/effective", a bit. actually its more noticeable in BitCoin-unrelated GPGPU workload, like [Huge-HR/DR]image-processing or AV/match crunching.

You saw yesterday what happens when someone puts up an open sell order...
that was because the BUY side wasn't revealed.

Sadly I too had to switch away from deepbit. Too big of a pain constantly keeping an eye on the miners making sure that they haven't stalled because of connection issues requiring a manual restart. Switched over to bitcoins.lc and in the last 24 hours have mined nearly 2 bitcoins vs the 1 bitcoin per day I could mine on deepbit. Not regretting the switch at all now. Also, no fees either on bitcoins.lc. No where near as good of a website, but damn I can't argue with the results.
totally offtopic, but, YAY, less people in deepbit!
