4461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Big sad on: August 31, 2021, 11:27:46 AM
I think that buying Bitcoin is also a wise decision. You didn't get profit from Cardano now, but I am sure that if you are patient enough, you will hold Bitcoin for a while and you will also get a good profit. Moreover you are so young and already involved in crypto, so you have enough time to make money on this market, so just take your time and don't give up.

I agree, but this is bitcointalk and we're all bitcoin believers, even those who pretend they're not (you know who I'm talking about bcash people).

But it's the last piece of advice I would ever want to give to people who've lost their money already. When you go in, you're chasing losses and that kind of psychological exertion on buyers is never preparing them to be long term investors.

I would take a step back and relax, and live life normally. Put some leftover spare cash into DCA for BTC and that's it.
4462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin move to Proof of Stake? on: August 31, 2021, 09:42:37 AM
No. Why should they? Precisely what characterizes Bitcoin, an essential feature that distinguishes it from shitcoins, that gives security to the network, is the proof of work. So I don't see any reason to do it.

Not 100% true, PoW without enough hashpower behind it is about as meaningless as PoS (in my opinion). We only need to look at bcash and laugh at how easily people can 51% attack them. And they're not even the worst PoW shitcoin out there.

Ha, I fully expected to be last after terrible round but it seems there are few of you guys in even worse shape  Grin

Doesen't matter, still only begging, plenty of time to attack paying positions. Or more realistically, watch the difference to the top grow every week.
yeah it's still in the beginning of the season and you don't know when you will get some good rounds.
In the first round I was 11th with 7.5points behind top two rounds later I'm 2nd tied with the top on number of points.
So as long you stay close for the last 5 rounds anything can happens.
You Don't know when your luck will start to kick in.
Or you just Suck at it  Grin Grin and every gameweek you see the gap gets larger.
For me I was very lucky specially this gameround.
I had most of my predictions have 1 goal in them that made me get 3 correct score.
I feel that Laliga is getting fewer goals scored then the other top major leagues it could be only explained that with Messi leaving Barcelona and and the total spending in the league is far less then other leagues.

It's nice to get early starts yes, but also nice to be right at the bottom so nobody expects you to sneak back up and get yellow hats later haha. I try not to let these results get to me but it's funny being in this position when it's supposed to be the league you know the most among all the big European ones:p

No Messi no goals? How boring life is:p

Guess everyone almost caught the back-to-back BJ busts? It's a sure winner tonight. Ha.

I did. Did you take any tennis specials yesterday? I was tempted but Tsitsipas isn't as good as all that to win 3-0 as the special required, and Andy Murray actually won the first set so it was a tough game for him against a supposedly back from injury player.

I see Steve is talking about some big odds on F1. This is the time to do that I guess!
4465  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - Watford FC Main Sponsor - UFC Official Betting Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: August 31, 2021, 07:09:15 AM
Look, every sportsbook limits players individually, and sometimes it's even just their software department or odds department. You take it up with support and see what they can do for you, or you move books. It's always going to happen to you at some point though.
4466  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I fail in trading on: August 31, 2021, 05:47:26 AM
You will, if you are honest, most likely arrive at the outcome of realizing that you're not and never will be a good trader.

Some might find this the opposite way, but yeah, if you wanted to have a much better and peaceful life,

Holding is what you prefer instead of working with your daily trades. The numbers of winning trades is far better when dealing with it in the long term, while with short term just a single mistake will bring you with big losses.
Be reminded that you alone that needs to decide to whether what strategy or system to use for your trade
your money, your call.

It's not just about having a better and peaceful life, it's just about doing the life that was meant for you. That means doing an actual job, learning new things and skills, growing as a person and getting life experiences. Trading, if that really is your life calling, fine, but for most people it really isn't. And all those courses and strategy books saying different doesn't make it different.
4467  Economy / Speculation / Re: Parabolic blowoff top or Rounded top on: August 31, 2021, 05:01:07 AM
Rounded top I think for me. The parabola doesn't look possible anymore, not when we've seen such long time in sideways trading close to the last (current) ATH and so far from the old ATH.

I don't think institutions are stupid enough to srl for short term profits. They might pull out their initial capital at some point when they've got 4x on it but until then, they're probably riding the crypto hype - and there'll be a lot of people buying that sort of news if it's put in a way thst a company invested $4M, pulled out their initial capital and still have $12M at play (because retail will want to do the same).

Institutions capture profits, but never liquidate entirely, if they're long term. Doesn't make sense to pull everything out because they're all about managing risk and taking advantage of booms.
4468  Economy / Economics / Re: The lending problem on: August 30, 2021, 04:52:18 PM
There is no problem because human society will always operate on trust and server/client relationship. You can't turn everything into a decentralized network and doing so is often counterproductive. Bitcoin works by having every node store all transactions ever made, so its capacity is very limited. Torrenting networks suffer from the problem where rarely-accessed files can't be downloaded until someone who has them decides to seed them. Point is, decentralized is not automatically better.

The idea that everything should be decentralized is just a hype created by crypto bros who sell shitcoins and "blockchain technology".

Totally agree here, I love Bitcoin, I love torrenting, I love all kinds of P2P and when I can share, trade crypto, even music, I try to do p2p as a more decentralized form of interacting. But this doesn't mean I abandon centralized alternatives.

Bitcoin's great but it can't pay my bills.
I've got torrents waiting for months, and then I probably will give them up at a time.
P2P trading's great until you keep getting orders cancelled because people aren't online. Then you switch to an exchange for instant trade.

I really, really get annoyed with decentralized this and that... which isn't even most of the time the truth.
4469  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think this is the last four year cycle? on: August 30, 2021, 04:23:24 PM
I think there will always be a halving correlation but there will be changes, as I even said a few times before in old threads.

Firstly, the years will get longer.
Secondly, the drasticness will reduce (no more 90% drops and no more 20x rallies).
And no more mining spikes up and down also I think.
4470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will its price start being stabilized? on: August 30, 2021, 04:00:01 PM
Bitcoin's price stability i think might be so unpredictable knowing the demand for bitcoin keeps on growing so eventually, its price will also keep increasing. I don't even think we can see stability in the near future because of its high volatility, the price will only have its bulls and bears.

With the recent ATH at $64k, bitcoin is set to reach another ATH maybe before this year ends but as long as bitcoin keeps moving upward, predicting as to what price will its last ATH will never be easy. So just enjoy the ride and keep on striking while the iron is hot.

It doesn't just depend on demand, it will also depend on utility. I think if suddenly real Bitcoin users as opposed to pure holders and speculators, dropped or people moved elsewhere, then demand alone won't drive price up.

I don't see it happening for sure, the last chance it had was during the chain splits years ago and people proved they still preferred BTC's security.
4471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 30, 2021, 02:33:48 PM
High-scoring, high booking points, indeed, La Liga is really back. Nice to see Suarez on scoresheet again, but they got seriously lucky with the own goal to rescue one point!

@slaman29 Real Madrid really needs some urgent transfers, otherwise they’ll lose the league before it even begins. Also if you’ll consider this game tough for Real Madrid then we might as well bet on Barcelona or Athletico to win the league title. Lastly I’m sincerely hoping that they’ll improve soon, or Carlo may not even last one full season at the club.

Save your money and don't bet on Barca. I already did but I feel like it's a wasted one. Atletico look like they might have the squad to pull it off if they find out how to keep Suarez and Correa injury free the whole season, but they could also be distracted by Champions League who knows.
4472  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: August 30, 2021, 09:53:47 AM
Borrow money now
Buy bitcoin for that money
Enjoy the profit.

I have only recently seriously began to read WO even though in this forum a lot for years now. I like the vibe there but yes, it does feel a bit too experienced for the likes of me. In fact, I never really stopped feeling that way since I join, although slightly more confident in this year especially.

Borrow what you can,
Buy what will not make you cry,
Always safety first.
4473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 30, 2021, 07:50:43 AM
Barca won without playing great. First half wasn't bad, but second was struggle. It was interesting to see youth like Gavi and Nico playing in difficult game. I'm Barca fan, but I must admit that some kids on our bench aren't very familiar for me.
Atletico managed to take draw from game with Villarreal after scoring on 95th minute. It sounds a bit weird because Atletico dominated game and Villarreal made just 2 shots in total.
Also, a bit surprising Rayo Vallecano big win.
After 3 rounds we don't have teams which haven't dropped points and 6 teams collected 7 points and sharing 1-6th places. Now we are going into international break.
And I'm not going to comment my performance in the pool so far...

You and me both buddy. Time to get used to not knowing half the team this whole season too. I'm just really waiting to see us push out even more of the costly stars (or just one guy Griezmann no matter how important he might seem now).

I even still feel really really weird not seeing Messi on the team bench or on the field. You know I saw him coming on for PSG on youtube and that gave me some weirdness too.

Oh and I can comment on MY performance. Bottom of the league. So proud.
4474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: August 30, 2021, 07:00:58 AM
I know I said only I'd pick 10/1 specials here, but yesterday, 8.2x (Inter, Lyon, BVB, Valencia win) hit. Took about double the units I normally place so was happy to hit that. Anyway, new special is up:

28 Aug: Monaco, Leipzig, Napoli, Utd, Barca to win: 16/1
26 Aug: Europa League Rangers and Celtic both to qualify and keep clean sheets: 16/1
24 Aug: EFL Cup EPL teams (Everton, Leeds, Watford, Norwich, Newcastle, Villa) to win - 40/1
22 Aug: EPL All 10 matches to score in 1st half" - 24/1

Ow it must feel so bad to lose all those multis by one game, I was watching when you listed.
10 matches: Last game failed.
EPL teams, Newcastle failed.
Europa League, Celtic failed
You yesterday special, Leipzig failed.

Hope you did insurance multi instead at least you get freebet back;)

It is not smart to keep on gambling if the only thing you care about is making money. I gamble because I like the feeling of it and I like to spend some time on it and it is basically like playing a pc game or watching a movie, it is entertainment and I like it. However at the end of the day if you want to make a lot of profit and you do not want to just gamble? Then you should not use gambling as a method since it is not a good way to make money, it is not impossible but it is also a very risky one.

Yeah, I think you slightly misunderstood what I said. We all know what gambling's supposed to be, and how to approach it and how to treat it etc, and if anyone reads about what I write they'd know I'm all about the entertainment. Which is why I can lose big as I have done in the past on this site, and still be really happy about it.

With enough money you could literally live your life off the income from freebitco.in if you have enough.

I love the interest here too but I would never, ever, ever tell anyone to put all their life savings here and live life off the income from fbc (unless you're talking ref fees but only a few accounts not even active here have that).
4476  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I fail in trading on: August 30, 2021, 05:15:31 AM
If you are really interested in becoming a good trader, you have to be patient and learn the art, also be ready to loose money, cus nothing good comes for free as it is commonly said, and also try as much as possible to start with a very minimal amount of money, try to grow it to a certain level where you can confidently tell your self you are ready to trade with bigger amount.

God bless our hustle.

And something almost no one will tell you. Take a step back and look at your trades objectively and ask someone else to look at it. You will, if you are honest, most likely arrive at the outcome of realizing that you're not and never will be a good trader.

That's when you'll switch to become a holder and then live life fully while actually making money from gradual price appreciation.
4477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 29, 2021, 12:57:05 PM
It was really a problematic match for Real Madrid actually. They won but the result was only 1-0. After Carvajal scored, Betis started playing better. They tried their best to find the equalizer. But there were no more goals and Real Madrid secured the win. I was expecting this match to be a tough one for Real Madrid so I'm not surprised now.

And this isn't even going to be their toughest game with not even 10% of the season gone. 8 yellows throughout which now seems to be the standard benchmark for La Liga, getting more and more cards or is it just that the refereeing has become more strict?

Now it's just left for Barca to keep the pace!
4478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 29, 2021, 08:35:35 AM
You have to watch there games week in week out, so as you could get use to there style of play tactics,if they're good ball possession keepers.
I do watch Athletico Madrid a whole lot, I got to know they're offensive off the ball, possibility of them grabbing a yellow card is likely at anytime.

Yes I know, but when your timezones are not helping you, and you have weird working shifts like I do that are never certain every week, then it's not even physically possible to watch them.

This is why I like the weekend games, at least a few are in the afternoon so for me it is late night. Not too crazy but staying up after midnight is only reserved for Champions League:)
4479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: August 28, 2021, 11:03:10 AM
Big matches to watch in football before international break so everybody got their picks?

Please gouge my eyes out .... let Ronaldo move to any Premier League club but not to Manchester United! If he really decides to do it, then most likely I will cease to be a fan of Real. Anyway, 700k pounds a week, although it will make him the highest paid player in the Premier League, but not the most important.

I have to really shake my head at this news. Manchester United are a great club, no denial, but they keep spending and spending and then not delivering results (and I am fully aware my club Barca are doing or did the same). And Zlatan was an old buy and now Ronaldo again? At least I think he is better but people shouldn't be fooled by him. He scores many goals because he gets his supply fed to him a lot plus he is a penalty taker. Is Bruno giving the penalties to Ronaldo now?

I also hoped he went differently to City but anyway now Premier League is really Premier!

Nice finds, buddy. I think the "smart" way to play and win on casinos, including on lottery like here, is to collect sats at all prices, and hope you win big during bear markets. Happy I gambled most of my RPs and balances during low price periods too. Those sats really become worth something every bull run like now.

Just wish I'd also been smarter about actually NOT losing them as often;)

Just keep doing the freerolls in bear and bull markets to accumulate some satoshis. I only participate in the lottery with the tickets I win with the WOF but you never know you can get lucky.
I am approaching the 100k RP so that's an extra 100k satoshi in the pocket  Grin.

I do freerolls whenever, daily, and when I'm on travels, it's nothing to do and takes 2 seconds to complete. Now I even do my WoF spins every day or 2 days, also nothing to do, not even captcha to solve. Today got me 4000 RPs too and that's like $2 now, just for free;)

Did my 100k RP exchange recently too, but already up to 45k again thanks to the last 5xRP gambling session which I shouldn't have done:)
