So you mean I need to hire a place in a energy generating company?

Look at different services on the forums that host miners.  Some specialize on you send a miner to them and you pay them to host it.  You have a much better chance with this as it is again less then 1/2  of what your home cost is and possible even cheaper.

But look around and research before sending a miner out to someone.  There are some well known ones, and I would stick to them.
4482  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 06, 2015, 05:52:25 PM
Bought a S7 from Batch 5 I have two EVGA Supernova G2 1300 watt PSU's I want to use with it the question is The S5 when using one PSU only measures 11.88v on the PCI-E Connectors when Under full load "HASHING" no overclock does anybody think if I use two PSU's on the S7 will it give me a problem ?

Question 2: what does the S7 do when it don't get enough voltage does it BURN UP like the S5 ?

Question 3: Are there any 1500 watt 12vdc to 15vdc variable output server PSU's out there if so what's the link ?

this one goes from 10 to 13.5

https://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/rsp1500.pdf

I have been using it here and there.  A guy on ebay was selling them at a good price

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MeanWell-Power-Supply-Rsp-1500-12-/191732204742?

Hmm that PSU is 87% efficient.

But S5s "burned up" if you ran them with too low of volts?  Interesting.

I have my old Rosewill Lightning 1300W PSU running my 4.66TH S7, seems to be doing fine even though I only have a dedicated 20A 120V circuit.  PSU outputs 12.18V under full S7 load!

The lightning 1300 should do fine.  I got one long ago on a rebate deal.  It's one of the nicer ones Rosewill makes, some of theirs are utter crap.  But the lightning is high enough they made it good quality I would say.

Mine I cant remember date i got it but it has to have been running about a year or so I would guess.
4483  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: ASICPuppy.net - AntRouter R1 ($49.99) COMPAC ($34.99) - ANTMINER U3 ($44.99) on: November 06, 2015, 05:50:36 PM
I made it around 5 day's without touching it with 3 U3 miners.  So pretty impressive.

I'm not sure what made it stop but unplug/replug antrouter fixed it up and now running.  So hopefully another bit without touching these U3's this R1 has made my lotto mining life so much easier with your custom firmware.
4484  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best mining hardware? on: November 06, 2015, 05:48:21 PM
Hello,

I may want to start a little project to make little bitcoin farm, which is hopefully profitable. I want to use usb miners. And what else do I need? Rasperry pi? And how much miners i can use for each raspberry pi?

You need to do some reading.  Most mining is done by Asics, which most come with a controller so you plug it in and set it up, and leave it alone.

Raspberry PI is a good controller for Avalon 4.1, compacs, lots of usb miners, etc.  But you have some research to do as it's a huge range of the different kinds of miners.

Just basic check what is your electricity price?  And do you have vat/import tax?
I am thinking of doing a project with college and they run the miners there 24/7. I read that the prices of electricity in the netherlands is 0.22€ per kWh.

Is that cheap or expensive?

That electricity price is expensive. You will not have ROI if the difficulty rises 3% every 14 days and pool fee is 2%.
Hmm, would I get profit when the btc price keeps rising?
Or will the dificulty screw it for me and I shouldn't start a farm?
Pool fee can be avoided easily, many pools offer no fee mining. Difficulty and Bitcoin price plays a huge part in your mining operation. A drop in price and rise in difficulty could easily mean a loss for your mining farm. The biggest one I have seen was 46% when Bitcoin price was rising very rapidly in Oct 2013.
A 46% loss of the mining operation or 46% bitcoin difficulty increase?

Hes talking about the past.  Most are free or 2.5-4 pps.  Depends on type of pool you use and which pool.

But no matter what at your electricity price you should not mine there. Just to expensive for any hardware.   You could put it in a data center for less then 1/2 of the price of electricity price you mentioned.

So I would be looking into other things besides just home miners.
4485  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will it still be profitable to mine Bitcoin in the future? on: November 06, 2015, 05:44:30 PM
I mean for an individual. With the increasing difficulty and halving it gets harder and harder for an individual to make a profit from mining.
What do you think about this?
It won't be profitable for small time miner as big farms usually are able to get rebates from their electricity and hardware. However, normal users can still participate in lottery mining and hope that they hit a block one day. The chances are small but it is worth a try.

It all depends there is no way to say "Yes bitcoin will always be profitable" or "No it will always not be profitable".  Right now hobby and home miners are doing pretty good with recent jump in btc value.

Big farms will always have the best luck on ROI since they have a ton of cash and can follow cheap electricity.    But I think there will always be some home and hobby miners.  They will be profitable for the forseeable future.

Having will be the big thing no one knows what will really happen... until then I think as long as decent electricity even small guys do fine.
4486  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining when the Bitcoin value goes up on: November 06, 2015, 05:41:38 PM
I live in Quebec and pay my electricity 8.6 CAD/Kwh. I've been reading about mining a lot this week and I'm seriously thinking buying an S7 now lite (maybe there are better options). They currently ship these units 17th December + 5 days (not late delay)

I'm totally afraid that difficulty will increase by a good factor during these waiting days and killing all profitability. If my calculations are good, at constant BTC, I would break even if difficulty increases steadily by 5%. Does a steady 5% make sense?

Halving that is coming before my projected ROI is another factor...

Any advices?

First of all, the rumored S7 lite was a 2 board design, which is not what we're looking at with the S7 "now lighter", just to point out what i meant by one and the other. The now lighter S7 seem overpriced to me, it is the same price as what the default S7 was. So an actual S7 light, or one with 2 boards that does 3.5TH/s could be more attractive.

Then the 5% seem unlikely for any amount of prolonged time, if it does it would probably be because BTC keep going up at the rate it is. Also don't put all your hopes on ROI'ing a S7 solely on the current BTC price, it could go down.

Since we have cheap electricity here, your rate seem to mean you're mining at home counting the rate after the first 30 kWhs in a day, i think a better miner for you would be the S5, or maybe even a S3 depending on the profitability of the next 3 months and how much you can get them for.

Do the math, but i doubt the S7 would be better for you than a S5 at a acceptable price, by quite a fair margin.

If you paying electricity there is quite a bit difference between S7 and S5.   Now btc went up yes S5's will stay important longer.

He's at .07 usd so pretty good. It will all depend on what price he can get a S5 for and compare that to  an S7, with longer life since big efficiency jump.  I suggest OP try a few different ROI situations out here: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

Depending on difficulty changes it can very a lot even that December 17th date with all the manufactures right now it will be hard to predict percentage then.  So it will be interesting.
4487  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are closed!! With a bonus reward. on: November 06, 2015, 05:35:52 PM
Bitwisdom seems to be going down:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    62,253,982,450
Estimated Next Difficulty:    65,381,008,169 (+5.02%)
Adjust time:    After 710 Blocks, About 4.7 days
Hashrate(?):    457,239,254 GH/s

Price around 394 so still pretty good.
4488  Other / Meta / Re: How to check post quality? on: November 06, 2015, 07:03:08 AM
I really don't know why lot of (almost all) signature campaigns do not accept posting in alternate currency. I know it does relevant to bitcoin but still can promote the content they want too. And I think that posting a lot in alternate currency doesn't mean that your post quality is bad Grin as long as it is informative then it's totally fine Grin

Each campaign makes a decision on what makes the most sense for them to advertise in.  Normally they will not pay for a forum that really does not advertise for them.  So assuming it's a bitcoin product in your signature... alternative currency might not be best match on advertising.

The worst in my eyes is off topic.  No one should be getting paid in there.  With post's like what is your last drink... its full of crap posts in my opinion.

But as far as quality of posts only you really know.  Unless someone else goes through your posts such as a campaign manager.  Being on topic and helpful is really what you need to be when a constructive post.   As a general rule if it's one sentence chances are it's not constructive, but a few answers will be even when small.

But one liners and small posts like "+1" or "I agree" are the worst type of posts and stand out pretty easily when looking for constructive posts.
4489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 100% Newbie on: November 06, 2015, 06:56:56 AM
A friend said I should sign up here? why?

I would think it has to do with it being the biggest and arguably possibly most important bitcoin forum to keep up on.  Just a lot of info shows up here that you might have to search otherwise for.

So if you enjoy bitcoins you should enjoy the form, for the most part.  If you don't like forums... then you might like news site format more like coindesk.
4490  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Dragon 1TH blade directly to RPi on: November 06, 2015, 06:52:32 AM
We have tested all the blades by running them 2 @ a time.  We have used different PS with no luck, so that is why we are looking to see if we can connect them directly to the rpi.

So running 2 at a time all the blades work?   Or 2 still have problems when using just 2?

How many watt PSU did you use to power 2 at a time?

You can't connect directly to RPI there is at least one board you have to go between that I remember off top of head.  You won't be able to skip it.  You will need to find out the problem.
4491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: November 06, 2015, 06:46:03 AM
hmm...
Just curious you Always think The Information is New and The First  that actually already had quite a few people knew and published in several places else where on the internet already. and you always did your own speculation  that how companies/manufacturers think These Information had been "LEAKED" here after that .

I speculated it was from you as on both S5+ and Avalon 6 I believe you were first on board to post (I could be wrong).  But you never linked giving credit to another source or anything to suggest it  was not from you. So I speculated it was from you.  Again I could be wrong which you are saying I am.  I did not mean offense  just that you seemed to have it first on this board.

Re-look over my post's before the previous one my last one to you guys was thanking you for posting Avalon 6 info.  I did not mean to start a battle/fight so I appolgize if some of the speculation was wrong.   Lets leave it at that, no need to turn R1 thread into off topic.
4492  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting mining on: November 06, 2015, 06:36:54 AM
To answer to your question: I think an Antminer s3 with a normal PSU would fit your budget and the coin would be of course bitcoin although the basis for mining most profitable coin should also be taken this into consideration that depending on the price of electricity on your area, it can turn out not to be profitable to mine at all

Some links to S3:
http://www.amazon.com/AntMiner-S3-441Gh-0-77W-SHA-256/dp/B00NZDBWKG
http://www.amazon.com/Bitmain-AntMiner-S3-453Gh-Digital/dp/B00LETT8VS

Electricity is going to be big.  You can get a  idea of ROI with the following site: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator .  You will need to know your electricity price though.

S3's you can underclock and make quieter but there is still some noise to be aware of noise/heat.  You need some place to put it  where this is acceptable.
4493  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: November 06, 2015, 06:35:01 AM
Mr. Lees info was right on leak:

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020151105082702881F8f0B9I405FF

Price:       4 BTC
               ( 1481.32 USD )

1. Hash Rate: 4.05 TH/s

2. Power Consumption: 1042 W + 10% (at the wall, with APW3, 93% efficiency, 25C ambient temp)

3. Power Efficiency: 0.25 J/GH + 10% (at the wall, with APW3, 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temp)

Yes I guess this is what we have been waiting for, although not quite what was expected.  Smiley

Looks like it's still 3 Boards but with a reduced chip count / Board. I think they have made a mistake and it will not be 145 Chips but 144.

Which means that each board reduces from 18 Tripple Nodes to 16 Tripple Nodes. Also the voltage range is now a more sensible 11.6V to 13.0V rather than the very tight must not be less than 12V.

Rich

Im not to impressed to be honest.  I was hoping to see 2 blade version.  To go down in speed... and keep 3 hashing boards just is a pain.

I dont think its the "lite" I was hoping they did.  With this I would have rather them it the same on higher speed.

It seem it contains 135 chips, instead 145 (it can be a mistake), so, 45 chip / hashboard...

I'm guessing it has to do with quality control.  How they kept having to split into to batches one faster one slower.   I'm guessing they tested this out and can hit target speed instead of 2 speeds.

Price is also locked at 4 BTC so you can't really get a deal by watching btc price and it.
4494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: November 06, 2015, 01:08:24 AM

The R1 is currently out so makes me wonder if they did not order in batch 1 and assumed they would have another batch soon to order in.   One would have guessed they would have had a batch by now.. so they could have gambled there guessing they would buy a batch 2 by now... I'm not sure.

They seem to do a lot of being first to show miners and info.  It would also not suprise me if companies did not like working with them.  Like how they leaked Avalon 6 I can't imagine Avalon was happy.

But again all speculation I'm not sure on any of it.

Just let you know , We  did send all the R1 orders purchased from iTOP ,and we  still have stock to ship .

I and other iTOP staff never leaked any information of any companies who had not yet posted to public.
Reviewed all your posts about iTOP , you have been trying to mention this all the time. so I clarify this here.

I stand corrected.   I think trying to mention this all the time is a stretch, but people can make up your own mind.  I'm pretty sure my last Itop post before this was thanking you for releasing Avalon 6 info.

I was guessing you did not have stock to ship from:

Also reminds me has anyone had an R1 from ITop as I have had one on order from them for quite some time now?

Rich

But appears you are saying that assumption is wrong.

There was just a few miners you were first to show before company.  I guess you had permission.  I was just surprised same source would have permission to post first from multiple companies (S5+, Avalon 6).  That is just not common.  But again I said I was speculating.

As I said it was all speculation I did not mean offense, was just surprised on amount you posted first on board before companies.
4495  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remote Management on: November 06, 2015, 01:03:56 AM
can you use Teamviewer from your phone?

Yes of course;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.teamviewer.market.mobile&hl=en

I never tried it myself since i always have access to a PC or a Laptop, but i guess that could work for you, i just imagine you would have to use it through wifi, i'm guessing mobile connection could be laggy or too slow or bust your bandwidth, unless you have a high end internet contract on your cellphone.

Yes there is IOS and Android versions to do it.  You need to sign up for a team viewer account and link through the account.

After the computer is linked to account you can access it from phone.  With account you don't need temp credentials each time to log in.
4496  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: November 06, 2015, 01:00:41 AM
At some point gear is obsolete though.  Look at like BFL minrig... that thing even "free" I would be surprised if many are still running.   One day A1's have to hit a obsolete point even at cheap electricity.

So far I think there are a ton in china running at cheap electricity.  But the recent price raise for sure put more life into A1's.

Yes! I think A1's now has a purpose to play in mining and I think bitcoin will still increase up to Nov. 5 I wish, hehe it is good to mine this time stock more and more bitcoin in the coming halving and wish it will increase Grin

This increase no doubt kept the A1's mining.  With cheap electricity gear stay's on the network a long time.  And in china I think there are sizable amounts of A1's still mining away in some data centers.

Having it's hard to say what will happen.  I'm just happy for how its doing now

As long as the energy is cheap (or even free somethimes), it is even profitable to keep those miners running. Especially now the value of the BTC is increasing and increasing.

Remind that mining with A1's for some people might not seem to be profitable nowadays (due to electricity costs), but if the value of BTC keeps increasing, it might turn out that mining nowadays was profitable though. (Yes, they could also spent the money directly on BTC instead of electricity in this case).

The thing is mining equipment loses value so darn quick I don't like sitting on equipment Im at a loss.  I sold all my A1's and bought more efficient gear.

It is possible more people are profitable now. As a general rule thought I would not unplug a miner and just let it sit there.  I would sell it.

It would be best to mine with it at a lost and hold, then sell when BTC is at an acceptable price for profit. A bit rough if you need to cash out BTC to cover the month's budget but if not this work well, assuming you're not mining at a lost simply because your electricity rate is too crazy.

If that is the case then, definitively sell, dont sit on hardware.

Depends on how much you are losing.   If you have a large electricity bill mining at a loss is not really the best thing.  Counting on it being worth more in the future is not really safest bet.

I would sell and get more efficient gear.  I like running at a profit.  Keeping gear your losing money mining is not good long term.
4497  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 05, 2015, 11:30:36 PM
Why are these so expensive?

There is only one competitor on the market currently. I think the prices are right in line to be honest... it would always be nice to get them cheaper but I don't think there are any market forces that would push the mfg to get the price down at this point.

So, less hashrate, less efficiency, need to provide your own controller, AND more expensive than the other competitor?  Who's lining up to buy these?

I wouldn't count the cost of the Pi in there. It can be resold and should be suitable for all current and future Avalon miners you stock. Like a PSU, its not consumed or proprietary, unlike an SP20 or S7 control board.

thats a good point dogie thanks for bringing it up.

oh a few have asked about that 1500 watt psu.

this one goes from 10 to 13.5 volts 87% efficient

https://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/rsp1500.pdf

I have been using it here and there.  A guy on ebay was selling them at a good price

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MeanWell-Power-Supply-Rsp-1500-12-/191732204742?
I got one on ebay for a good price.

So a PSU that can be adjusted is required to undervolt/underclock the avalon6?

underclock is software  any psu allows underclock.

but and we are not sure since testing has not been done   under volting may be via a psu option not via software.

if undervolting works and you under volt via psu there are a few .  we are working on unknown  as of now.

Hopefully in 10 - 12 days when I get one I can answer it.

If I work with kilo17 and help sell to the forum members on this site they will be in hand and not preorders.  He is getting a big batch and I would help him distribute them.

This would be no MOQ as he will order big enough batches to satisfy MOQ.

Markup will be very low. More to cover shipping and handling then to buy a few hundred at 1500 and sell them at 2200.

Did BlockC raise the price? - http://www.blockc.co/collections/blockc-co-shop/products/avalon-6-3-65-th-s-bitcoin-mining-server .  I could have sworn they had less then that a week or two ago.

So on resell is that 2200 number you mention look like what they are planned on being sold for through Kilo?

how I can earn more bitcoins so I can start trading?

so you want to start trading without knowing what bitcoin is  ? also the subject '100% newbie' to much suspicous ?

Trading with altcoins is a easy way to lose money.  Sure some will show amazing gains... but you really have to research the crap out of it and have some luck.  So many are pump/dump you lose money holding long term.

Bitcoin in the easiest to sit on and hold.  You don't have to trade it if new and unsure you can just hold it long term.  It's much safer.
4500  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can i earn with bitcoin please? on: November 05, 2015, 09:45:19 PM
The easiest way to start earning Bitcoin is through faucets or paid-to-clicks sites like coinad.com or btcclicks.com

If you have some skills, try to offer them on the Services section, too.
faucets are the worst way to invest your time.

I honestly think people who use them are not doing the math.  They see the site use a smaller unit of BTC and think they are gaining more then they are.

Most you will spend a hour for a few cents.   That is not enough to pay for a monitor and computer to stay on to do faucets... it makes no sense to do them.  But still there are always a few who do them.
