the fact that Daniel Larimer keeps changing the protocol is concerning, not to mention his public nature and those required of the delegate nodes. the merger with Ethereum indicates to me that both are struggling to come up with a viable solution perhaps never to be found.

HSBC had impeccable KYC/AML policies and practices in place no doubt .... these regulations mean nothing if the people running the show are fundamentally dishonest, it actually makes it worse, since they can hold up these pathetic regs as a fig leaf to cover over the disgusting swamp of corruption.
People have to start wondering if Swamp is involved in a bitcoin grab that perhaps they are about to go tits up?
I mean for the amount of "non-verified" customers, all of whom have btc addresses on file there, why wouldn't they just liquidte and send the btc back instead of this funds confiscation BS?
The BitSwamp is fast earning the Gox reputation in my book ... roll on the decentralised exchanges, it's clear the other way doesn't work with Bitcoins, too much heat on one single center to handle.

In the taxed world of government, it's join or die (read: pay taxes or get arrested), too, I understand that. But at least in this instance, my toilet flushes when I take a shit in it, and I don't have to steal my food. That alone is worth the tax fee to me. Did you pay for the panopticon surveillance dragnet that logs in the national database that you probably just took a shit because it records your flushing habits and timings of when your oven switches on? Is it worth your taxes to have armies of psychologists making shit up to feed to mainstream news teams to create widespread confusion and fear when an administrative pollster measures favour for the latest military action flagging? "Join or die taxation" just gets a whole lot more sinister when you realise you're pulling the yoke for a gigantic killing and enslavement machine and there's nothing you can do about it except fucking pull harder and hope like hell it is someone else that is gonna get killed by the machine. Most of the pro State comments make out like the State is benevolent, all current evidence to the contrary. We're not talking anymore about big versus small govt., it is a big, facist, malignant, growing out of control beast of a system you are supporting. |

Most interesting thing I've read about UK politics for awhile now, it's nice to see there are Libertarians in the UK, there was a sort of 'official' Libertarian party but they went extinct a long time ago and were clearly dealing with lots of internal politics.

didn't some of the EU countries announce that Bitcoin would not be taxed? I like that position better. That would be awesome, but long term is not a solution. How can bitcoin be exempt from tax when we trade it for our local currency? Once we pay taxes in bitcoin (yes optimistic), how can bitcoin gains not be taxed? Unless you expect a complete collapse in modern society, in the sense that we all pay taxes, how can you expect bitcoin to not be taxed like anything else? Are gains on your local currency on a foreign exchange taxed? In NZ and Switzerland for example, gains on foreign currency if held for long periods and not for short term trading will not be taxed with capital gains. You need to move to a more enlightened country. Capital gains taxes are more regressive for economic wealth buildinng than income taxes, which are bad enough. Consumption taxes only is where the world is heading, and that is the best thing out for strong, deflationary currencies, like bitcoins and gold. Of course, it is bad for govt. generally, but they've had a boom century and it is time for them to go back to the feudal dark ages from whence they sprung. |
