4501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Carry empty paper bitcoin wallets with you on: July 29, 2016, 08:43:51 AM
If I was in an evangelical mood, I don't think paper wallets are the way. They remove the most interesting elements from the whole thing which is the live exchange/internet aspect. They're also more than likely to discard or lose it.

Far better to get them to download a wallet to their phone and they can watch a live transaction take place. Even then they'll probably lose their seed.
I think the opposite, you don't have to spend too much time explaining everything and when they get home, they could just look everything up themselves.

If you add some additional information on the paper wallet, you could make it easier for them.
4502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Odds of finding a fellow bitcoiner. on: July 29, 2016, 08:34:42 AM
Not that often, but it also happened to me a while back.
I went to a meetup with Liberland (the new micronation) enthusiasts and met a few people who were also into Bitcoin.
4503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to spend bitcoins on a site that takes PayPal? on: July 29, 2016, 08:11:32 AM
Do not flame me for saying this, but if we continue finding workarounds for these problems, merchants will not need to receive Bitcoin directly. We do not want to rely on 3rd party services to be able to

use Bitcoin. I had the same problem with a local pub, and I worked at them for weeks... they now accept BTC as payment and in reward, I arrange Bitcoin meetups at their place. We have to go the

extra mile to get what we want, but workarounds should be our last resort.  Roll Eyes

My goal is on the spending side. To show that you can drop your bank, get paid only in bitcoins and be able to live on that. I did find another way to buy my groceries online with bitcoins but this one would be a bit more convenient.

I will contact them directly though to see if they can look into it though.

If people are able to live on bitcoins, then more stores will understand that this is a typical payment method and then they will start providing it as an option. Chicken and egg thing...unless you're a business, this is the way you can push forward your side of the equation.
Well it's always worth a try to ask if they would consider accepting Bitcoin in the future.

But isn't it also possible to pay with a debit card through Paypal without actually having an account, I know it's possible with credit cards, so I would think it's also possible with a debit card, although I haven't tried this myself.

Or is that something that the merchant has to allow?
4504  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do with my signature campaign earnings ? on: July 28, 2016, 06:12:25 PM
I would just try to save as much as you can for a couple of months and then use it to buy something nice.
Investing with such low amounts just isn't really worth it.
4505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ThrowBack] from $27 to $886,000 on: July 25, 2016, 08:42:43 PM
Wow! That's just so damn lucky! I also heard of a guy who had collected like 150 or so BTC and then forget about it, but when he found out that its now worth 65k dollars, he tried to open his wallet but couldn't as his hard disk went bad... so that was kinda shock too.

I think this has very little to do with luck... A lot of those people got lucky because they heard about it early... but deciding to invest in such a new technology... took a lot of guts. Yes, you might have

spend only a few dollars at the time, and you got a hand full of coins.. but it's still money and nobody just piss away money on every new thing that comes out on the market, uhm.. on second thought..

yes, they do.  Grin ... I know if someone told me about this back then... I would be more than sceptical and would possibly have written it off as a scam.  Roll Eyes
I do think luck has something to do with it. If you make such an investment to get a return on it, you would have probably sold it sooner.
It would be pretty difficult to predict such a huge rise.

And to respond to the person who you replied to: If that happened to me, I would spend several thousands of dollars to have a professional try and retrieve the data from that hard drive.

I also use a mixer btw, when sending Bitcoins to my cold storage wallet Smiley
Not involved in any illegal activities
That is a good point about mixing coins before sending to cold storage.
Do you have a site which you recommend?
I'm planning on moving some stuff to a paper wallet and would consider mixing before I moved them to storage to make it harder for someone to trace.

I've always used Bitblender through Tor.

I know there's that one site bitmixer.io or whatever that I see in some users' signatures, you might want to look into them, but I personally have no idea if they're decent or not so you'll have to take what I say with a relative grain of salt.

Why you would want to send your Bitcoin through a mixer before you send it to cold storage is kind of strange to me, but I guess it works if you really don't want someone watching your funds.
Call me paranoid, but I like some anonymity for the addresses that have more than, say, 10 BTC on them Smiley
Who knows, laws might change, Bitcoin might become illegal, who knows?
4507  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Project At Indie Gogo. Please Support My Campaign 2016! on: July 22, 2016, 03:01:37 PM
So, you're looking for people to invest in your faucet?

But you state this on your Indiegogo page:
There are no risk in this concept because it is safe and secure for both Users & Investors.

How can you say this? You can always just run away with people's investment or your project can fail and not have any revenue.
Seems like a pretty risky deal to me.

No bro, i dont think you will ever find any Faucet related campaign on IndieGogo.
And i assure you that my faucet is gonna be a stable one.
I am doing bitcoin business for over 2 years and already helped 100's of new users to understand the BTC concept.
You can trust on my project.
Also if you donate more than 20$ you will be getting some really cool Perks/Rewards.
Check it in the description.

Thank you!

I'm not trying to bring you down or anything, but I just think it's just not completely right to say that this investment is 100% safe.
Besides, do you have any stats about the earnings of your faucet, number of unique visitors etc.?
4508  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why need to use a Mixer? on: July 22, 2016, 02:52:43 PM
Much people who use mixer want to clean their dirty coin or another illegal stuf. So i think use mixer is bad idea if you want mix our clean coin cause you will get dirty coin.

Apart from those freshly mined, all coins are going to have a fraction of traceable dirt on them. It's a borderline certainty that we've all got Silk Road coins somewhere. That's why this blacklisting stuff is so silly.
This doesn't matter though, right? I mean the FBI still auctioned off those coins they seized from Ross and I'm sure it's not illegal to spendcoins that have been used for illegal purposes, if you did not partake in those illegal activities.

4509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: POKEMON GO LIKE SITE TO PLAY FOR BITCOINS? on: July 22, 2016, 02:44:52 PM
Is it possible to make Pokemon go like site to play for bitcoins? Do you think it is achievable? It is big niche now,and can grow even more bigger
How easy do you think its easy to make that "site",oops did you mean the app ? The developer created Google Earth and then Pokemon Go,sure why not ? Ready to shell a billion dollar from your pockets and integrate bitcoin into it.Should not take more than 2 years.
Yeah, I was thinking that too, it just won't happen. Why on earth would someone make some sort of copy just to include Bitcoin?
Plus they would never get permission to use Pokemon.
4510  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hey people! We redesign our game and now we need some critics :) on: July 22, 2016, 02:21:48 PM
Do you have print screen photo of your previous design? if you do can you show it.
the current design of your site is not welcoming, when i got in, in your site the first
thing came to my mind is, it looks like a black market kind of site or an illegal site.
and the color of your site is doesn't fit each other the color of the (im not sure about
the name of the color) dark yellow green is over powering the color of black and is
hurting my eyes. the faucet claim is little low, but its ok, other than that i don,t have
any complains unless i find one.

Ok. I'll send screenshots later as the old version is in my old PC Smiley

Interesting point of view... Yes it is in dark colors, but I think most casino websites are in dark colors.  PEOPLE! Who else thinks that betbit.co looks like a black market website?
I don't agree that the dark design is bad or anything, but I can see how some people would not really be attracted to that.
You could always have a lighter and darker design allow users to switch, since some users do really prefer a dark design because text is more visible.

Didn't make me think of a 'black market' design either.
4511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using Bitcoin for those in need. on: July 22, 2016, 02:12:26 PM
There are lots of helping hands in bitcoin community, especially those who have enough to donate.

I saw this thread yesterday here in the forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=351789.0
Bitcoin Omega Scholarship, it aims to give scholarship to the low-income kids on Africa through bitcoin. The idea was great imo, and the plan is good as well since you'll be having an update with the kids. There have been sponsors who did pledge, but sadly it seems that the plan will not proceed anymore.
There used to be a lot more projects here revolved around charity and it seems like most of them just went away (just a personal observation).
Sure, there still are some projects, but they don't even come close to the attention that charity projects used to get here.

4513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many BTC do you gamble with? on: July 22, 2016, 01:56:58 PM
I always just play with very small amounts, but I'm taking a break since I lost when betting on Belgium during the Euro 2016 match against Italy.
Never bet more than 0.05 BTC the last year.
4514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Idea What It Involves To Create/Start Your Own Crypto-Currency on: July 22, 2016, 01:50:07 PM
I must warn you that this is not really easy, but you do have some pretty good resources to learn how to do this.
I suggest you start by watching this tutorial on Youtube:

4515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to block my wallet and prevent any withdrawal for a month? on: July 22, 2016, 01:43:44 PM
I would be very interested in seeing some solution for this myself, not really to protect funds from hackers, more to prevent myself from spending them.
It would be very important that it wouldn't be something that's offered through some sort of service that holds your funds or whatever.

And you should also be able to choose for how long you wouldn't be able to move the funds.

Is this something that could be achieved by using CheckLockTimeVerify?
4516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin can be used as a method of payment online? on: July 22, 2016, 01:37:16 PM
So many merchants already accepting bitcoin as payment method so that i can purchase some stuff online easily, bitcoin is very flexible payment processor to run online business, in future we will see more big companies will start accept it.
Yeah, I saw one news on bitcoin that the top trending game which is Pokemon Go is planning to integrate bitcoin payment. If happened this will not just give an exposure on bitcoin but also new user that might give demand on this coin.
If that's true, that would be pretty huge actually and give Bitcoin A LOT of exposure, the amount of people playing this game when I walk the streets in my home town is just crazy.
Do you happen to have a source for this?
4517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KickAss owner was using Coinbase as his bitcoin wallet!!!!! on: July 22, 2016, 01:34:16 PM
Yeah I was pretty baffled as well when I read that article, he didn't even try to really hide himself.
Was just buying songs from Itunes using the same IP address (LOL).

You should know that the US will come after you when you're running a site like that.
4518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Great Idea for Bitcoin on: July 22, 2016, 01:24:13 PM
why not start smaller. vending machines accepting BTC would be a great start!
I think this would be an even better idea than having an entire store. Guessing it would be pretty easy to make, at least not more difficult than those Bitcoin ATMs.
4519  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hey people! We redesign our game and now we need some critics :) on: July 22, 2016, 09:58:41 AM
Do you have a screenshot or something to show what the previous design looked like?
That would make it a bit easier to compare...

But by itself, I like the way it looks, although the green column on the side looks a little bit tacky in my opinion.
Wondering what other people think about that?
4520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had suddenly 500 BTC on: July 22, 2016, 09:45:27 AM
if i had 500btc then i am gonna leave bitcoin world any put all the money into bank and will take only the interest till i die. at least it will be more than enough for my pension.
LOL? your sound like you're have no any planning in the future when you got those BTC500 . Dude, if i had same amount like yours, i'l open new bussiness for my family. (i think this is better than just put all your money in bank and wait for interest?)
ANd pay a massive amount of taxes on that money? No, I'd rather keep it in Bitcoin and cash out small amounts using a Bitcoin debit card or something like that. Maybe invest part of those Bitcoins Smiley
