4501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRS][DMD] Pallas optimized groestlcoin / diamond etc. opencl kernel on: October 20, 2014, 12:29:45 PM
been busy working with miningfield setting up my USA mirror of pools.
yah if you can post a modifed .cl for ws 128 I'll test it on 5450

Made a lot of progress on USA mirror setup today Smiley might have it online by monday Smiley

just change the initial part of the main function to:

for (u = get_local_id(0); u < 256; u += get_local_size(0)) {
  T2 = ROTL64(T0, 16UL);
  T3 = ROTL64(T0, 24UL);
  T4 = ROTL64(T0, 32UL);
  T5 = ROTL64(T0, 40UL);
  T6 = ROTL64(T0, 48UL);
  T7 = ROTL64(T0, 56UL);
}

this part was blocking worksize < 256.
as I said previously, it still might not work or be very slow for tuning reasons.
let me know of it works.
thanks!
thanks will do as soon as I get time Smiley  VM server box has 5450 in it might as well let the host make use of it, I can get ~0.25MHs with normal gorestlcoin kernel with ws 128 on it ... it's running 24/7/365 anyway Smiley

Only has 80 shaders LOL it's a dwarf but is air cooled hehe
about on par with intel HD GPU (10 shaders) in G3220 CPU as far as hashrate

just curious... did you manage to make it work? if yes, what hashrate?

EDIT: it has about half the shaders of a nexus 9 :-D

Just did git pull again because there were changes and I had problems.
Qt client compiles fine but headless one gives:

src/main.cpp:4372: undefined reference to `RebootClient()'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

With the new wallet, all local projects are reported missing, even those who were good before. No more good cpids so no mining...

thanks!
I've just git pull and recompiled, starting from clean blockchain and peers.dat
Synced fast and fine, but now:

"errors" : "WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."

Why don't you signup for the 20 POR GRC giveaway @ http://uscore.net ?

Yes you need at least 1 GRC to validate your node like POS to begin minting POR blocks, but unlike simple interest your minting is based on your research participation.  There will be many giveaways in the future (there is one currently as anonerd mentioned: http://uscore.net) for people to get started. In the mean time anyone looking to get started will be helped on the forums.

Thank you for the concrete info.

I'm helping you testing, pushing up this thread, and finally donating my computing power and electricity to your project, and still I'm not 100% sure if it really works. I will support your project in long term in future too, because I think it's a really good idea (one of the best ideas in cryptoworld), but except investing my computing power and time, I will not invest my BTC, PLN nor EUR.
Here's my PoR GRC address: S5ePpF26ehemfCrrmkczLvnbXfvAazSYM6  I'd like to test if it really works as you have written.

Can I have a couple too, so I can enable PoR, please?

SEmmy4eKr6g35SHP3nvarycM1GW9rYgom7

Thanks very much!

someone please send me even a single coin, I'll give it back as soon as I mine the first block.

Already did it, but to get the "startup pack" you need to wait :-)
I have 3 projects well over 100 RAC, boinc mining for nothing.

For POR you need coins in your account that are "staked". This is not like POW where you find blocks with actual hashing!! Do you understand that? You either need to convert old GRC classic to new POR GRC or you have to wait till the around the 20th of October when the POR GRC starts trading on the exchanges and get some POR GRC  so you can start staking in your wallet!! IF you have no coins right now in your POR wallet you will not receive anything!! You need to have coins in your POR wallet!!

This wasn't clear to me as well. The wallet says "boinc mining" and it's not true.
Also it's a pity I have compiled, installed, worked on it and boinc-end and I'll not get anything for days, cause I need to have stake power for a coin which currently I can't buy.
Not everybody's been following the coin for months.
I've gotten in a couple weeks ago and read a lot of docs, but I didn't notice that for POR I need POS, and it seems I'm not the only one.
To be an early adopter is never easy Smiley
We offer free startercoins on http://uscore.net

thanks I'll try that!
I really want to try PoR but at the same time I don't wanna mess with exchanges and that burning thing :-)

can anyone describe what to do when im foud orphan block while POS minting? it somehow can affect POS staking with same input transaction?

the orphan block is discarded and it will not affect your stake power.

I would like to ask both of you to head over to the cryptocointalk forum.

There is a dedicated help thread to amswer your questions. I don't mine gridcoin so it's hard to answer for me.

Do you mean this thread:

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/18805-gridcoin-proof-of-research-information-and-support/

there are 2 questions from yesterday and no answers... I thought more people would read my questions here.

I'm in this loop for 3 hours:

10/14/2014 08:54:54 Starting globalcom...

so I reset the blockchain by removing the files and start again, same loop.

EDIT1: now it started downloading blocks, will report if it syncs fine to the end.
EDIT2: yes it finally synced!
EDIT3: stuck again and only getting orphan blocks! :-(

qmake-qt4 "USE_UPNP="

doesn't seem to work: it still requires miniupnpc
not: qmake-qt4 "USE_UPNP="
but: qmake-qt4 "USE_UPNP=-"

ups... sorry.. that worked ;-)

but you need a chmod +x src/leveldb/build_detect_platform:

What is the newest version of moded sgminer for x11 algo? Can someone please share a link...

Well as far as I know this is the best ... I am trying to get pallas to integrate his super optimized groestl kernel into X11mod, that will boost X11mod I'm sure Smiley

It doesn't - not as-is. Needs quite a bit of modification, or it will make X11mod slower.

Actually, now that I really sit here, look at it, and think about it... pallas' groestl is going about it in quite the wrong way, resulting in issues with memory access. Local memory may be on-chip, but that doesn't mean accessing it is free, especially if you pound the shit out of it...

Maybe. But I don't see any faster groestlcoin/diamond kernel anywhere.

Any chance of getting a worksize 128 super optimized kernel to try on HD5450? (256 too large)

The changes needed to make it work at 128 are easy, but it probably won't be tuned well for such a card: I've tested on r9 290 and 7950 while developing. It might even not work at all.
If you want to try I can send you a file or the changes and if it works well we can post it here.
