4501  Economy / Economics / Re: what makes us good investors. on: August 25, 2021, 04:23:32 PM
When you take the advice of Warren Buffet, it is something excellent, but if we go to the stock market you must wait at least 8 or 10 years to see results of the investment, on the other hand, in BTC you see results after 3 or 4 years, and the most likely is to see a great profit, that is what many do not see.

To be fair I think Bitcoin expected timelength to make the same profits as stocks is also getting longer and longer. 2014 to 2017 20x was three years and now 2017 to 2021 a longer period of 4 years, it is "only" 3x.

I guess we know why Buffett is starting to like Bitcoin (by not saying so much against it anymore).
4502  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: August 25, 2021, 12:13:51 PM
Then I can add people and their bitcointalk links to know who is who:)
Or people could be "normal" and use same username like I am doing Cheesy and we would not need to guess who they are. Just kidding of course, but it is always nice to see familiar face on other sites. In a way you can also use it build your image. I am using Trofo for all crypto related stuff and you would be surprised how much overlapping there is. Crypto community is still small so why not build on all those relations.

Agree I guess heh, it's just that I also use my same name everywhere and made the mistake from before of putting my age, which of course I am no longer 29;) And then it became my habit. I use BigSlam on Sportsbet chat and I guess it's because online I just use a variation of my nick. Obviously not my real name.

There is a lot of overlap agree. Small world in crypto.
4503  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 25, 2021, 11:03:36 AM
Can't complain in the end. Just the way the world is, and we got to deal with it.
Like major exchanges, gambling websites are required to report your information to the IRC whenever asked. This is why people from US has mandatory KYC policy.
The fact that we have to deal with is that gambling apps are all centralized entities and have to deal with laws and legislations of the countries from where accept users .
I also dislike the enforcement of KYC just when withdraw, but this should be mentioned in the TOS of the site which none read before join. In this case no one to blame .

And if you dislike this completely, then you have to go for decentralized casinos. But just like DEX vs CEX, a problem is liquidity (or in the case of casino, a big enough bankroll to take your max bets and max payout profits).

The only other option is to build reputation and trust, like in communities here on bitcointalk as I mentioned. Trust goes both ways not just from us to a casino but the other way round too:)
4504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH to $10K? on: August 25, 2021, 10:32:50 AM
if bitcoin is pumped many times, then this is also beneficial for altcoins, where the possibility to form new ath is very wide open. we know that not all coins will synergize with the movement of bitcoin, but when bitcoin has a positive movement, this seems to apply to all cryptocurrencies to follow the movement of btc, including eth which seems easy to reach the desired target

The big, shameful secret, that every altcoin except a few will never want to admit. They want you to spend your BTC to get into their "massive potential" coin, but everyone at the top, the devs, the owners, hodl BTC and as soon as they get your investments (ETH or BTC), you know they're buying BTC by the bulkloads.

I guess there are ETH people like this now as well but secretly, everyone including anti BTC people long for Bitcoin pumps.
4505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK 20% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest part of the country on: August 25, 2021, 10:02:16 AM
~snip~
So what do you think? Are the poor being targeted or there is another explanation for the data we are seeing?
^ I think the cheaper rent, not the poor people were targeted by them. In the first place, how the poor people can able to survive in gambling through financial if they are really poor, it will surely they don't have money. It is because if you have a local currency especially in the third world country compared to the dollar, it has a big value when you are in a third world country. Probably on this topic that was the reason why they are in poor areas just because they know they will survive and long last from the rent. Nevertheless, we cant draw here an exact reason and purpose why they are in a poor country.

As I mentioned before, there is also a social aspect, though.

Like it or not, people from a lower economic/social class have less income, and less education, and lower paying jobs. It all trickles into logic. Lower education means lower awareness. Higher vulnerability to social problems also is scientifically known to be passed down generation to generation. A lower income person is more likely to be unaware of the dangers of gambling and therefore spend more to try and win big. Higher income people see gambling as entertainment, lower as a (wrong) means to get rich and out of their problems.
4506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 25, 2021, 08:51:16 AM
Don't forget guys, we have Friday games to start so put your picks in early, you're always able to change later so why not?

Hey guys!

Regarding the 0.5 mBTC Free Bet for participating in this pool, Steve hasn't been active on the forum since last week (I'm assuming he's got other matters to attain to).
Please don't fret and thank you all for the patience while we await Steve's return; he's beyond fair when it comes to paying out Free Bets as we all know.
If anyone has any questions going forward re: Free Bets, please send me a PM on the matter.

No problem! I get random freebets in chat in SB quite a lot so I honestly have no complaints and this will be an additional bonus whenever it comes to us. I think they're busy upgrading chat on site too, and everything else looks like it's progressing well so we are very happy here.
4507  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did I do the right thing? I bought shares of MicroStrategy. on: August 25, 2021, 06:46:53 AM
I can't really say if it's good or not, except that if you're buying shares, then you better hope you're legally protected. I know a lot of people buy "shares" on apps these days and it's not even a real share, or a real app, just again numbers on an account that you hope will be honored by people when you want to sell.

I honestly don't see how it's better than BTC:)
4508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 25, 2021, 06:03:33 AM
for bitcoiners its kind of the same amount.

if you spend 1000 $ worth of bitcoin 2020 for wood and the same amount in bitcoin in 2021 you kind of get the same amount of wood.

Definitely not kinda the same amount though. I'm looking at this picture and BTC only Up 75% or around this mark from the last year only, so that amount of wood looks like it would need a 400% increase or something;) But of course I understand what you mean;)
4509  Economy / Speculation / Re: People are panic buying right now! on: August 24, 2021, 04:48:42 PM
Haha when i created this thread bitcoin was only $45,000 and now it's surpassed $50,000. People are panicking to able buy bitcoin under $50,000 and in the end of year we would see $100,000

For a few hours but not completely conquered it in a day, I have to say. Not that it will take much longer. The bears will look at this with a lot of fear, how even at failure to break important resistance the pullbacks are not so far away.

I wonder how many bears have turned into buyers at this stage, and how many more at 63000...
4510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bit Civilization? on: August 24, 2021, 04:10:29 PM
Yes, Bitcoin's contribution to human civilization is not realized in the form of law, it is based on mathematical algorithms. Code is law. This is a completely new human civilization system. It is free, equal, and fair to all people. There are no restrictions. Anyone can freely participate in the construction of Bitcoin's civilization. If he loses confidence in Bitcoin, he can leave at any time.

I agree on some parts, but I can argue that code is equal, but not fair. Not everyone understands how to access that code, or how to use it, or how to fully understand it. Hence scammers in defi manipulate and take advantage of the weak. And not everyone can freely participate either, we have to admit that. No computer, no code:)

After recently gaining Hero... what hard work!, someone asked me to try out for this but I'm aware my language and constructive posts in Bitcoin only sections are lacking, but I think I made a lot of progress in the past years, slow and steady:) Let's see!

I post roughly third of my posts in gambling and third in altcoin section because of the time I spent in the alt era, but I know the rules.

I see a new poll for v2 of SB chat;)

Added P2P chat in the poll. But also to add a contact list, ignore list, so we can add/remove people we know/trust from the chat. AND a tip function that goes with that so we can send balance to each other would be super cool.

Then I can add people and their bitcointalk links to know who is who:)
4513  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 24, 2021, 12:05:23 PM
Yea, FJ is a "KYC casino," it's pretty obvious with the type of bonus/promotion they offered. Majestic 7, Bonus appetit, etc., come at a cost. I don't have a problem with this type of casino, but I don't really like when the KYC procedure is forced when withdrawal. It should be done before deposit, so if KYC failed, users cannot deposit. This is to prevent problem arises from failed/pending withdrawal.

Eventually, all services in crypto will be KYC'd, it's simply inescapable. But they won't have to KYC everyone, just whenever the regulations require them to, it's as simple as that. If your turn comes up, just reach out and see what can be done. All these things are also at the influence at considerations and loyalty, and I know as bitcointalk users there are a lot of considerations. Can't complain in the end. Just the way the world is, and we got to deal with it.
4514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK 20% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest part of the country on: August 24, 2021, 09:38:52 AM
I think this is the same everywhere in the world though, and even in countries where it's illegal, you find the underground ones the most in poor cities and rural towns where the police don't really do anything because there's no hi speed internet or other forms of entertainment.

I think also we have to know what they count.

A scratchcard shop (considered gambling) in a poor town is not the same as a roulette machine in the city right?
4515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 24, 2021, 09:01:58 AM
Levante doesn't stick to my mind as much as Cadiz, who beat both Real and Barca last season in memorable shockers:)

It was a pretty good round for me first yellow cap for the season and considering that I missed out on the first game on Friday. I would probably wouldn't get the right prediction more likely I would predicted Betis to win.
By the way did the 0.5mbtc free bet from joining the pool and the competition have distributed ?because I have been checking since last week on Sportsbet.io and I don’t belleive I got it and since it expires in 48 hours I wouldn't like to miss out on them like I did before in the Copa America pool.

Well done mate! I was very lucky to pull up a little after a really really bad performance, some last minute changes to picks, though that very same tactic has also caused me some worry in the past.

I think Trofo will remind us if they are distributed. I get random free bets sometimes in my account it is always good to check (0.25mbtc usually though).
4516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 24, 2021, 05:14:33 AM
1% seems very low, especially for having been in for 4 years. I would say that even 5% would only really be for someone who doesn't really grok Bitcoin and is just getting going. (If you're just getting started and don't have much extra to invest, I could see lower numbers but then you probably don't have much in the way of other investments either).

Still, I always advocate that people should be comfortable with the investments they're making so I'm not going to call you wrong.

But as his own post says, it really depends. I think people sometimes forget that investors do see Bitcoin as a new asset, and therefore a new aspect for investment. For serious investors, to actually add a new type to their portfolio is a big deal. I would see most big serious investors having majority in something proven like gold or even I guess government bonds. And then bluechip stocks for quick gains.

Remember, BTC can do x10 in a relative short period. Which means the 1% can grow to 10%. But also can do x0.15 very quickly!

I got my jersey from this competition https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5353558.0
Quality is great, can't wait to wear it on the pitch. Thanks sportsbet and @jeremypwr for organizing this contests.

I think all the EPL jerseys are really high quality, haven't ever seen any my friends wore that didn't feel good. How it looks is another factor that doesn't come into quality though!

Love those contests too, so easy, and you can win with no knowledge whatsoever:)
4518  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: August 23, 2021, 10:09:03 AM
I made 4/7, what a shame:) Pulisic didn't play and Son didn't get on the sheet, damn!

I would have to say not every week will have 7 teams all having at least 1 score, 0-0 is quite possible and then suddenly all that week is gone, you can't get 7/7 just like this week and I have to say that is a quite good job because you wouldn't want it to be easy. I told everyone that it will not be easy to get 7/7, we got it on the first week so it looked easy but it is tough.

I had just one right this week with Leeds Raphinha and that's it, rest of them were wrong but I am fine with that, who cares if I get full or not, it is the playing that matters to me because that is what you do with your life, you try to play and just enjoy and spend good time, if I win that is great then I can play some more, if I do not win then I will maybe take a break and find some more money and come back and play (in this case it is free entry of course) and focus on that, just enjoy.

0-0 definitely possible in every week, and when you have 7 games, it's almost a guarantee. Take away own goals, which sometimes can win a match, and it becomes even more possible.

So we look to early and end season where energy levels are high (to score) or low (to make mistakes).
4519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: August 23, 2021, 09:01:05 AM
3 in a row would have been epic Smiley Just shows how statistics mean nothing in things like this. Congrats to all off you who managed to get wins, I was a bit lazy and missed on one win and the bust today.

Important thing is we are getting close games, hate it when we have a bust with 10 points and I never really start believing it could hit.

Yeah, and it'd have made me feel less unhappy to get 2 out of 3;) But still. Even if you tell me I'll win one and bust 3 in a row, I'll take it all the time. Blackjack odds are already calculated all the time in this thread but luck is luck and there it is. If you don't place money in it, then you can't lose (but also can't win).
4520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 23, 2021, 08:27:54 AM
I continue to do so badly in this pool even though it's the league I bet on the most. I guess now I know why I should just not play anymore:)

I had the same notion last season, despite La Liga being my 2nd favorite league after the EPL (due to being Barcelona supporter). However, I think I'm not so familiar with majority of the teams any longer after proper study, I used to rate most teams basically on what I thought they used to be rather than they currently are, I'm speaking of teams like Valencia, Getafe, Bilbao, Villarreal and co.. most of these teams used to be fight for the top 6-8 place, but last season they all struggle a lot and cost me a lot points.

La Liga's my favorite but I guess it is just because I've followed Barca for such a long time. I do know even most of the games been shown on tv was from EPL but I always really liked the Spanish style plus the crowds and those drums at the stadium.

It's different when betting I guess, as you study different things and are less emotional?
