I highly recommend getting the book C++ Primer 5th Edition which I was recommended ( don't get any other version ) the reason being is they do an incredibly good job of explaining the basics in proper English to you and if you take your time you'll genuinely be able to understand the code rather than do guess work on it because of incomplete bits. The book has an entire glossary at the back which explains all the programming terms such as Data Structures or Classes ( CLASSES AND HEADERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR GOOD ORGANISED CODE ) and so on so when you talk to other programmers you won't be wondering what the fuck is going on, vocabulary has been a particular bane of my learning because people on the internet don't always explain things clearly so this was very helpful to me.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lippman-Stanley-published-Addison-Wesley-Professional/dp/B00E28QQZO/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1402040328&sr=1-2&keywords=c%2B%2B+primer+5th+edition

If you're just wanting to learn C++ by itself, this will help you a lot, that said I know programmers here are talking about learning 'C++' but honestly you will end up learning libraries far more than you learn the original code they came from if that makes any sense, especially if you want to do something with the code and write programs.
4522  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Ebay CEO serious about bitcoin on: June 06, 2014, 07:37:24 AM
That CEO like others have been incredibly two-faced about Bitcoin because he says one thing then his company does all kinds of crap to the people who actually want to trade it, at least with guys like Peter Schiff we know he did it purely for business reasons, companies are going to have to switch to Bitcoin just to be competitive.

They basically seem to me to be what chavs in the UK would be like if they had guns.

4525  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-06-03 Cambridge House interviews Mike Maloney - Why Bitcoin Is Wonderful on: June 05, 2014, 12:00:56 PM
The "idea" of Bitcoin is great but there are "holes". The Mt Gox debacle is a good example.  The value of Bitcoin dropped by half when that happened and it was only a few years ago when Bitcoin dropped to around a single dollar

It was only a bit over 3 years ago that bitcoin reached dollar parity for the first time on its way up from zero.

Blaming bitcoin for Gox is like blaming the the US Treasury because the local petrol station didn't lock it's safe and was robbed. The price of bitcoin isn't the most important thing as an indicator of success, the ecosystem and functionality is.

I agree, you can't blame a currency for the problems of a company, it's nonsense, if this happened in the dollar nobody would be blinking an eye and it actually happens on a regular basis with the dollar.

4527  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Are Some of The Craziest Religions Out There? on: June 05, 2014, 11:45:58 AM
i think every religion is crazy if your gonna think about their rules and their belief
and i can say that its their culture and why does you people need to think its crazy? LOL have respect

No, I refuse to be polite and play along with their bullshit any longer, it's fine if they want to do it in the privacy of their own homes but when they expect me to go "Yes you're entirely right" and use the law against me for not doing so that's when they've crossed a line, homosexual marriage is a perfect example of this, they deliberately use the law for their own ends to persecute groups of people who don't agree with their beliefs.

Thanks, I didn't have much information on the opium trade in Afghanistan, I did mention drugs, but I haven't done that much research into it.

4530  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Was U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl a Traitor? on: June 05, 2014, 10:43:45 AM
I'm still convinced we went to war in Afghanistan for precious metals, of course, you'll never get politicians to admit this and the media barely report on it as with anything that's important.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jun/18/afghanistan-mineral-deposits

Unlike other people I think religion is just something used as an excuse to rouse the fanatics against a particular group that isn't being co-operative. I don't think it's an actual cause of war, I think resources are the main thing, Afghanistan is also a large supplier of the world's illegal drug market, another way for corrupt officials to make a shit ton of money, think about it, what's better for a criminal organisation than to be backed by the army of the very country you're operating in?

In traditional sense I suppose you could call him a traitor, but the problem is the U.S is far from innocent and they wouldn't have has many soldiers going AWOL or committing suicide if they were doing the right thing like they claim, you have had U.S soldiers taking refuge in Germany as well because they fear going back to the U.S.
4531  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Just hit 70 days logged in ! on: June 04, 2014, 10:37:22 PM
I think that's basically it, ever since I discovered it my whole life has been around acquiring Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, I like getting my hands on precious metals too, it's all valuable! When another financial crisis comes along and I really do believe it will happen either this year or next year with what the ECB is planning, I will have the last laugh.
4532  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Just hit 70 days logged in ! on: June 04, 2014, 10:11:23 PM
Wow jesus I have two days in, how the heck does someone get 70 days logged in?

Side note: I've been here since 2011???

That's nothing, I have 116 days now Tongue

Both of the issues seem to be due to lack of communication.  Maybe you could work on better communicating what you need?  Just an idea, think about it and try it, don't hate, I'm the same way when I'm not careful with what I'm saying.  And be mindful - check the hose before you leave the store to see if it's properly cut - these people are probably making close to minimum wage, they don't care.

Honestly, I've been on the receiving end of this before on the supplier side, most of the time it's an honest mistake but there are times when they're just being annoying about it as well. Going to see if I can translate this for non-Jewellers but I ordered a piece of silver that is cut so it's ready-made for setting setting gemstones ( normally you have to do everything yourself ) but when I got it the wait it was cut was flawed so I couldn't set my gemstones properly using it, sent it back and they noticed the problem right away when I talked to them over the phone and were very reasonable.

Since then I've always made my own custom settings and just used plain silver because that way I know it's correct and it's just down to my own skill, I haven't had any problems since Cheesy the honest ones will always try to fix the problem but if you have to deal with a company full of dicks then there's no point in wasting your time with them or even trying to get a refund because they'll just be unreasonable people.

they want to be the next united states of america, albeit without free speech.

It is surprising that you still think free speech exists in the United States. In my opinion, there is no such thing there, at least for the past 25 years. Everything is just a mirage.  Grin

shut up and move your ass to china or russia

Agreed. The poor folks in the first picture are probably getting the shit beat out of them as we speak.

Guess where this took place:

People like you who say that kind of shit in response to calling the U.S out on civil rights abuses are ignorant and naive, I could easily find photo's and events where cops regularly attacked protesters in the U.S too.
4535  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tiananmen Square on: June 04, 2014, 02:51:11 PM
Heard about this one from the daily show, yes, politicians love to talk about how much they care for U.S army veterans but when it comes down to it they're one of the most screwed over people out their next to children who can't vote, of course, most people don't know this because the media groups barely talk about it.
4536  Other / Off-topic / Re: Murphy's law { Who else gets owned by Murphy daily?} on: June 04, 2014, 01:50:53 PM
I repeatedly get this happening to me all the time, any time I have something that revolves around chance, it always tends to backfire on me, I get round it though by planning carefully and being as systematic as possible in eliminating the chance element, things have been going a lot better since Tongue
4537  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: June 04, 2014, 12:10:08 PM
Star Citizen just released their dogfighting module so you can play the game on singleplayer a bit now and fight against A.I! Too bad my PC can't run it as expected lol.
4538  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS - Manga, Cabochon Necklaces - 9 Oval settings on the way! on: June 04, 2014, 11:13:34 AM
Small update to show you how I'm getting on with my artwork and the manga! As I said I would before, I'm posting a comparison shot between that old crappy manga page I drew and the new one, a few obvious points, this is still a WIP, I have to finish the hands off and I'm re-thinking my colour scheme to make it more like how a manga should look because I keep using too many dark colours. The main difference you will see is in the character as I never really had too much of a problem drawing the simple shapes involved in backgrounds before but now the character looks a lot more like it's part of the background than just a weird flat character.

Shit flat character drawing that I had earlier in the thread

Improved character drawn much more 3D and with more form and a cleaned up background

4539  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-06-03SEC charges owner of bitcoin sites for selling unregistered securities on: June 04, 2014, 08:08:33 AM
Surprise, surprise, getting tired of all these Bitcoin companies getting knocked down a peg because they didn't research the basics of forming a business before they actually went and did it, it'd be nice if we saw some actual companies that produced stuff and weren't illegal that we could invest in.

Can someone recommend a good kingdom building type browser game?

You won't find a good browser based one as most of the time they're crappy cash shop games but there are all sorts of games series like Settlers, Sim City and Stronghold that deal with that type of building genre which I really like actually Cheesy That said, I think some of the latest building games have been really sucky lately they simplified them too much and now there are less features overall Sad

Oh yes, Tropico 5 is a pretty good game to play, you're an island dictator and you have to build it until you win various objectives or you can just play in a sandbox mode, I don't think that Tropico 5 was that much of a leap from Tropico 4 though.
