There is a rumour from China that they will cancel all previous crypto bans. If so, NEO can reach 50$ easily.

Thanks. Can't judge how serious this is though.
It's not a promo post. I found a lot of scam alerts of him actually. But anyway, I follow him to get useful info in time. Sometimes his calls making profit for me, sometimes losses.
Yeah I don't know. I watched the video and he seems to be guessing around, almost like trying to read the future by looking at celestial constellations. I don't want to say that he has no clue what he's doing, because I've only seen one video. But it sure seems that way.

Does anyone know if the total supply of SONM is limited? Is SONM gonna issue new additional tokens?
As far as I'm aware the supply is fixed and limited.
4563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO at $40 within 8th October ███ FEW HOURS LEFT ███ on: October 30, 2017, 08:23:53 PM
It is just a matter of time before the Chinese government issues some policy statement on crypto
trading and ICOs.  NEO and most cryptos will rock when that happens. Hodling and waiting patiently
will work.
Hodling will work for sure, because China's stance isn't very relevant to the overall crypto market. It might've created some temporary FUD, but in the end nobody cares and the money will keep flowing.

I do not want to live forever. What will I do after my wife and children die, my friends and parents? What's the point of living alone?
Why are people so obsessed with this? I don't see where the problem is. There's enough to experience in the world to stay busy for an eternity even without any friends. I guess you just never tried to enjoy yourself on your own and can't imagine it to be possible?

4566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: October 30, 2017, 07:35:52 PM
Anyone bought drugs with bitcoin and what are you thought on the subject ?

i know i have used bitcoin to buy psilocybe cubensis thank you bitcoin i cold have not done this without you now i can trip watching corry & eastenders in the evening its such a sight.

This is sad because this is one of the reasons why many other people don't like using bitcoins. Its anonymity have been abused by this kind of transaction. That sort of drugs is illegal in my country (and I believe to most countries too) so it would be a bad image for crypto currency if people would still use bitcoin with this purpose.
People use fiat currency for illegal purposes all the time. I don't see that hurting the image of the USD to EUR.
4567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: October 30, 2017, 07:17:31 PM
Most of the criminal transaction are done through Bitcoin because no 3rd person is involved while the transaction is taking place. Imagine I'm buying drugs from you it's easy for me to send your money through Bitcoin because there is no government or anything in between the transaction is just between you and me.
That's not true. Most criminal transactions are still being done with traditional fiat currencies.
4568  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think bitcoin gold value will rise to bitcoin value on: October 30, 2017, 07:16:56 PM
I think gold value will also rise the way bitcoin did but it will take time for gold to reach it. Bitcoin already surpassed gold's price with the span of time bitcoin, gold existed long before I was born so gold's growth is slow that's why a lot of people prefer having bitcoin now than gold.
This thread is about Bitcoin Gold, the forked altcoin, not the precious metal gold.

Those shitposters are getting dumber within each day. When you spend 12 hours a day posting threads are starting to look similar Cheesy

Bitcoin Gold won't go anywhere. Look how slow exchanges are with adding it. It was available as futures on yobit and I've seen poloniex and bittrex stating they will add it ASAP but it hasn't happened. Bitcoin Cash was available for trading within days. Also, Cash started from a much higher price than BTG.
I post a lot , but at least I know what the thread that I'm posting in is about. Tongue

And yeah, it's obvious that nobody cares about Bitcoin Gold.
4569  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would YOU choose to live forever? on: October 30, 2017, 07:15:50 PM
Life was designed to be lived once and then age and die. I dont think this new technology that would reverse the process of aging will totally make one live forever. It could probobly renew aging cells and DNA but we still dont know what are the negative  effects of this on our human body since it is still under trial. Besides, this life is full of problems and sufferings, if living forever with this kind of life is possible, then life would not be enjoyable but tiring, at the end, man will eventually desire to end their lives and die.
Problems are why life is interesting and enjoyable to live. If you think that life would end up being tiring you're 100% doing something wrong with your life and focusing on the wrong things.

Also, rejuvenation and longevity doesn't mean immortality. If you get shot or something you can still die.
4570  Other / Politics & Society / Re: how to break teenage video game addiction on: October 30, 2017, 07:10:25 PM
It is so simple: just make them addicted to hard drugs such as heroin.
I don't think heroin would've been enough for me during my gaming days.

That's mah boi!

But seriously, video game addiction may look bad in parents eyes, but mostly it's not a big deal unless you're that guy: http://abc13.com/news/pokemon-go-player-stabbed-keeps-playing/1427078/
Lmao, I haven't read that one yet. And yeah, video game "addiction" can even be good in some circumstances. Most of the concepts that I came up with to increase my profits and performance ingame ended up being models taught in Mathematics lectures at university. Definitely wouldn't have learned those, even in basic forms, in school or getting shitface drunk every day. Tongue
4571  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would YOU choose to live forever? on: October 30, 2017, 06:53:04 PM
That would be the stupidest thing humans will ever do. Only GOD can decide wether we live or die. We are just creations and do not have the right to alter what has been given to us already. I really don't see anything good that cam ever come out of this discovery. Yes, human life matters but people die for a reason and this reason gives way for us to multiply. We even have too much addition in population than deduction which becomes a problem for everyone. Thus is just pure bullcrao.
Nah, I'll decide if I can prolong my life myself if I find a way to. And if God ever decides to show up I'll argue with him all day.

Either way, we can just move on to other planets and build higher buildings to counter rising populations, so the only argument you've made is pointless.

Okay then sir, setting religion aside, please do show me a planet that isn't that harsh or hostile and can sustain human life. Doesn't matter if we start from scratch. Then after that, show me a single ship that can carry even a single human being to that place they say might be a potential earth number 2 without getting smushed or hit by lots of space rocks.

Population growth issue isn't pointless. Building higher buildings to counter overpopulation is what's useless. Just try to consider the amount of materials this earth can provide plus all the terrorism and natural disasters. Yes, we have a lot of great engineers making progress in building big structures that cam withstand some natural disasters, but do you think, of all the abuse the earth is getting today, these natural disasters will stay the way they are and not grow bigger and more disastrous?  earth can only give so much for us to use. Without population decreasing, even more serious problems can arise rhan what we are facing today. Amd it will only be a matter of time till we burn this earth dry.

Think about it.
Mars is already in the workings. Venus is possible as well and not much smaller than earth. As technology develops more types of planets will become "habitable". The next "by default" habitable planet is around 12 light years away, which we would be capable of reaching one day as well, although the first crew that goes there would have to live, recreate, and partially die on the spaceship on the way there.
But even that aside, we still have plenty of space on this planet and it's only a matter of sustaining ourselves somehow through technology. We can already build vertical farms that do not depend on the climate to sustain food as well. It might be expensive, but it's certainly doable. It's not really a question of what is possible, but of whether or not humanity will come together to work things out instead of arguing over bullshit and playing political power games like role playing kids.

Hmm.. true.. but even those planets are making too little to no progress as of now. While i see hope, I don't think those planets can become what we expect it to be anytme soon.

I agree. If there would be unity,  then there's no telling how far humans can progress. The thijg is, this will never ever happen. Unity is something humans are not mature enough to possess. And i highly doubt that this will ever happen anywhere within our generation's lifetime. Heck, I don't even think that it could happen in , let's say a few hundred years from now.

So still, i do not think it would be a great idea for humans to achieve this kind of knowledge.

But hey, that's just me, everyone has their own opinions just about anything. And everyone are most likely to assume theur opinions are right. So I respect your point of view.
Mars is targeted for 202x, which is in the near future. From that point onward it'll get easier to reach other places too, since Musk would've taken a significant leap forward with regard to rocket technology and other research necessary for staying in space for prolonged amounts of time.

And that's not accounting for breakthroughs in computing, or even AI yet either.

I'm probably going to settle on Mars when I get old and run out of things to do on Earth. Unless longevity science makes a breakthrough as well. Wink
4572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: October 30, 2017, 06:45:11 PM
If there will be another great depression 2020 like it already happened 1929 in with the New Yorker stock market, the price for one bitcoin could easily rise to $500k if you have to pay $100 or even more for one bread!

But without another economic crisis I highly doubt that the price will go anywhere near $500k.
Inflation isn't that much of a problem with Bitcoins. Even if one Bitcoin was worth $1m, one Satoshi would be 1 cent. Also, there's only 16m Bitcoins around today, so it's not like everyone could walk around paying 10k Satoshis for a loaf of bread.
4573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin. 2017 will be $ 1 in December. on: October 30, 2017, 06:41:17 PM
Some people don't read threads and just post based on the title and last few posts.

Doge is the most popular coin on exchanges besides the biggest five or six and it's almost free to send funds between exchanges using it.  So, go ahead and waste 10% or whatever of your funds sending funds with BTC.

Another comedian. Bitcoin transfers don't cost 10%... unless you only move peanuts around. And once you start moving real money around it's no longer worth buying Doge just for the transfer. And in all cases, you will transfer money faster by just sending Bitcoins than by buying Doge, sending Doge, and then exchanging Doge back into something usable.

Well, I guess we all aren't millionaires.
You are, if you choose the right currency. Wink
4574  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin regaining dominance. on: October 30, 2017, 06:35:40 PM
I don't think you can say that

I mean this is not "real life commerce" by any metric, though it may certainly make you think so since it looks like you really paid with bitcoins for the goods you bought. If anything, it is just a hidden form of speculation. And yes, it does add more fuel to speculation and demand simply because it is speculation in its own right. Further, while I could somewhat agree to your claim that vendors using or not using BitPay as a middleman might not affect prices (though this is debatable but I won't digress), this doesn't add to real adoption anything if that was your point
I should've worded it a bit differently, as directly accepting Bitcoin would surely accelerate adoption. But just being able to quickly liquidate your assets by "directly" being able to purchase real goods with your assets (even through a middleman) is something that was and is not possible with traditional assets.
Thus a wide spread acceptance of cryptos (even through a middleman) would offer a completely new merit to cryptos as a form of asset that stocks, ETFs, bonds, etc. do not have, since you first have to sell them to be able to use the money for anything. And that can take several days to weeks in some cases.

I don't quite get your point

Indeed, you can't buy goods "directly" with stocks, ETFs, bonds, whatever, but what does it change? If we are not talking about some trash or toxic assets here (think of shitcoins as a sort of cryptoanalogy here), you can liquidate your assets pretty close to instant. It is surely not like it would take "several days to weeks in some cases" if we talk about, for example, major stocks or US Treasuries. I agree that this is something new in this "direct liquidation" (if I can call it so), but honestly, I don't see how it would contribute to Bitcoin popularity to any noticeable degree
I don't know what things are like in the US. But in Europe you have to close your position and then wait until it's accredited to your bank account to be able to use it. You can't always spend money directly out of your brokerage account, which is why people keep money in their bank account in the first place for "emergencies"

Okay, now I see what you mean

But the problem you raise has more to do with Bitcoin transfers versus fiat transfers rather than being able to spend your coins "directly" when you you can spend fiat money without any reservations (read directly in a true sense of the word). In other words, I don't see any particular difference between spending bitcoins when buying goods and spending fiat when buying the same goods. In fact, with Bitcoin you risk your transaction being denied for whatever reason (e.g. a sudden drop in exchange rate). Obviously, there are no such issues with fiat. In short, you make incorrect comparisons since you should compare Bitcoin with fiat, not with stocks or whatever
Bitcoin right now is more of a speculative investment than a currency though, at least until sufficient adoption to dampen the volatility takes place. Which is why I've compared it to other assets, rather than fiat currency. But yes, you are right with the risks of using it as a currency with no intermediary, although the risk is in Bitpay in current situations. How do they deal with this by the way? Are they just speculating that prices will increase?
4575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Well educated nation is the key? on: October 30, 2017, 06:33:00 PM
It's a... um... no-brainer.  Grin

A nation, especially a democracy, is only as strong as it's citizens. A "well-educated" citizenry would be better equipped in fixing their country, making their lives better and yes - less likely to vote for demagogues.
I don't really have a problem with demagogues if they speak the truth and understand the problems of their country. Just because someone is well-spoken and politically correct doesn't mean that they care about their citizens, or even understand what is needed.

The problem is that some people are sleek-tongued snakes. I mean, an example from ancient times would be all the disastrous campaigns Athens made due to the public being blinded by the quest for glory. A politically-savvy and erudite populace should be able to tell whether the promises are realistic.
True. But unfortunately most people aren't savvy enough to realize what they are capable of understanding and what not. And then we end up with nonsense like in the US.
4576  Economy / Economics / Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct? on: October 30, 2017, 06:30:24 PM
There are many countries where hundrets of thousands or million of refugees without legal papers live and if the government will switch to electronic money only they will surely start to use something else as cash.

If the government just introduces electronic cash and let everyone participate whether legal or illegal, then the cash will likely extinct in that country. But I personally assume that governments will use the electronic money to control people and collect more taxes!
In that case people would just move to cryptos and ignore the governments to whatever extent possible though. That would be suicide for most governments today and then create a lot of chaos.
Most importantly, millions of people still do not have access to the internet and many older people are unable to do so. As long as 100% of people do not learn this skill it is impossible.
We don't need 100% of the people on the internet to start moving toward cashless societies. Nobody said that this has to happen in an instant on a global scale.

4578  Economy / Economics / Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct? on: October 30, 2017, 06:20:04 PM
Sweden is contemplating to stop using cash by 2023, does this mean cash might be extinct if other countries follow suit?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/10/sweden-could-stop-using-cash-by-2023?utm_content=buffer40bef&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

The Nordic nations tend to be first at implementing such schemes so I think it would take  5-10 years for the rest to follow. Troubling news, though we kinda expected this to happen anyway. Once we started dealing with our money using cards, it's really just a short step to outright removing physical fiat.

Yes, Nordic countries are one of the most developed countries in the world. They are first in many aspects. Also, I don't think it will take 5-10 years for others to follow, even if this project succeed in Sweden. World is large, and totally dependent on cash. So it will take 20 years or even more for others to follow. Like it or not, paper money is good thing that people invented to use for trade. Is this going to be successfull in Sweden, we will see. Honestly I don't have idea how it will look like without paper money. Let's just wait.
I could easily see a snowballing effect taking place once one country goes cashless with success though. Cannabis laws are slowly but steadily being revamped in most countries too now that the lolUS have started legalizing it.

Just to add, you may also try playing a very frustrsting game, ine thst you would rwally have difficulties playing until it frustrates you to the point that you would despise it. Worked for me when I was playing Pokemon Go as I got frustrated getting legendary pokemons until I got tired of playing it especially that it required a lot of effort from me.
Frustrating games just get me fired up and want me to clear them even more. The rush you get from completing something that seemed impossible is unparalleled.
