I use Windows XP and Firefox. I don't get virus'd often, or very rarely, and usually is because I intentionally run something I'm not supposed to. Although two factor authentication is nice, I find that I personally don't need it, since I never access any important sites insecurely, and all have good long unguessable passwords.

"Market cooldown" is a JOKE.

Who are they to "cooldown" the market?

Very different from "system maintenance" or "server upgrade".
4566  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Order placing suspended, market cool down at MtGox? on: April 11, 2013, 03:12:52 PM
WTF!

Screenshot? Link?

edit: Thanks for pic. WOW, that's pretty brave (or rather stupid) of them!

Bitcoinity confirms that

edit#2: So what now? "Normal" server upgrade or something else?

No, "market cooldown".

What a joke.

Guys: WTF "market cooldown" means?

They are not saying: "system maintenance", or "server upgrade"...

They say market cooldown?

MtGox: market clowndown!

I still think http://www.advantshop.com http://www.advantshop.net/saas is  an odd choice. If I was setting up a potentially multi million dollar operation and was convinced that I could pull it off and knowing how little trust we all have in ASIC producers, I would not be making my site look like a scam with holding domains and address's and contact details chinese restaurants and taxi cabs. If so little goes into the initial easy part if building websites, what will the final product be like? I would certainly initially invest some time and money in the site and would not get a very cheap shopping cart from a Russian provider on a rental basis of $20 a month.

We all start somewhere but really if you were 100% it would actually be quite hard to make your site appear so dodgy.

+1  Grin

Scammers and script kiddies are putting more and more effort in profiting from BTC's gold rush. The former should know that the community was already mass-scammed by BFL, and now everyone has his guard very very high.

To really be able to perform a successful scam in a significant scale they will need to invest A LOT of money in it. Otherwise, bitcointalk.com detectives will catch them immediately Wink

Isn't that roughly 12 hours away from now?

Yeah, 12 hours from now. This is outrageous IMHO. WTF means market cooldown? Geez, they could just say it's down because massive lag, and they are fixing things, but what the f does MARKET COOLDOWN means?

"Market cooldown, order placing suspended until 2013-04-12 02:00:00 UTC"

Yeah, WTF is this? What A JOKE.
4574  Economy / Service Discussion / Order placing suspended, market cool down at MtGox? on: April 11, 2013, 02:09:45 PM
WTF does this means?

Message on MtGox when trying to place an order:

Quote
Market cooldown, order placing suspended until 2013-04-12 02:00:00 UTC

What's this? A new way to manipulate the market? MARKET COOLDOWN? What kind of joke is this?

4575  Economy / Speculation / Re: I see one of three possibilities for the next few days on: April 11, 2013, 02:07:25 PM
We have already sufficiently approached our (c) support. If you short sold recently, I'm thinking now would be a good time to buy back in. I experienced enormous lag with my orders so I don't think cutting it this close is a good idea or you may miss it.

Tonight will be interesting. If we hold above $100 I think we can weather this storm. Between $80-100 and there is still uncertainty. Below $80 and the downward spiral will probably continue to possibly $30, our final substantive support

$30 would be very reasonable to finally get rid of this insane speculative bubble. Luckily enough some wall-street sharks would have burn themselves and go back trading their usual shit.

I really think we need some sanity and a sustainable growth trend backed up by the spread of a variety of bitcoin related services, otherwise Bitcoin will become the favorite toy of speculators looking to just cash out fiat profits in the short term.

Maybee they mainly put up the site to show investors the interest/potential of such a product?

If so, I guess they proved their point. Now lets just wait and see if they are going to produce something worth buying.

Yeah that is what he said - needs to understand interest like any other business should. Having a list of individuals willing to pay certain amounts for a unit certainly makes financing easy.

Come on, that's a joke. You just need to look at the market for 10 days to realize there is a huge interest. Just take a look at how Avalon's are sold at any price.

You don't need a post saying "we are in the final stage of developing ASIC" to see if there's interest or not. And anyhow, making custom ASIC costs a lot - if they are really developing them, is because they KNOW there is interest.
4577  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How I got robbed of 34 btc on Mt.Gox today on: April 11, 2013, 12:14:40 PM
It looks like the thieves have stolen 72.38 BTC in just one day. Not bad, who says that crime does not pay?
4578  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How I got robbed of 34 btc on Mt.Gox today on: April 11, 2013, 11:31:31 AM
It's impossible that all this happened just for entering that website.

1) You installed something from that site.
2) Or; You gave it extra permissions to run something on your browser.

This.

Or A LOT of people is in deep shit.

Anyhow: 2 Factor Authentification is a must.
4579  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon Asic] trade-in Thread on: April 11, 2013, 11:25:01 AM
After yesterday i would think everyone is "thinking" about the value of btc! Both sellers and buyers in the btc community!
Dude,

Nothing scary happened yesterday. Just market rules. Insane price increase which happen lately was regulated by the market. What worries me personally is panic not drop in price:)

Going from $20 to $266 in 2 months is not sustainable. That draws in Wall-Street sharks and speculators who just want to do a quick FIAT profit. It's not possible to have no corrections if the price goes x10 each 60 days, too many newborn millionaires willing to cash out their profits.

We need a very nice correction to double digits and then a reasonable and sustainable growth trend.
4580  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm not ashamed to admit... on: April 11, 2013, 11:17:10 AM
Well because I suck at trading, I lost 50% from stupid moves. (went from $800 to $500)

don't trade, then: buy and hold.
