463  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Koja kartica za bankomat? on: April 06, 2024, 07:04:45 AM

Tongue
Nije Edin Know Your Cigan model.

464  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 06, 2024, 06:51:56 AM
i just try the withdrawal for PEPE coins and IMO the fees that we need to pay is pretty high because it was around 16$ but don't know if this fees will be lower because right now the gas fee on ethereum around 35 GWEI.
The Ethereum gas sites that recommend how much you need to pay in fees are showing data for ether transactions, but not for smart contract interactions. PEPE is a token and requires more fees. Maybe 50% on top of what you would pay for a typical Ethereum transaction, depending on network congestion. But it still shouldn't be close to $16 if the recommended fee rate was 35 GWEI at the time you sent the transaction. It's not a secret that casinos earn money when you make withdrawals, so that's what this is.

There are some exceptions from that rule like Sportsbet, Livecasino and few other casinos, but I am always asking from all casinos to confirm if they are charging additional fees
Those that you mentioned aren't exceptions. Their minimum withdrawal amounts are 0.001 BTC, but they cover the mining fees from their end.

Cool
466  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Koja kartica za bankomat? on: April 05, 2024, 05:03:19 PM
467  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Koja kartica za bankomat? on: April 05, 2024, 02:37:12 PM

468  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Jade DIY hardware wallet on: April 05, 2024, 02:15:47 PM
the address generation process is a core process, which, I hope, has been tested by both software unit tests and human tests. I can't believe that there will be a flaw in such an important aspect of the software.
I didn't mean there would be flaws in it b default. I am sure we would have heard about it by now. The Jade doesn't have the userbase of Trezor or Ledger, but whatever it's got, we would have heard about something like that.

The bugs I was speculating about could perhaps be the result of certain software/hardware issues and not a scenario you would see if everything was working top-notch.

I checked Jade's github repository a little bit. It doesn't use libsecp256k1 as the library for performing elliptic curve operations, at least as far as I can see. It isn't a very good sign, considering that it's the most tested library for that sensitive purpose, and used by the most reputable pieces of software like Bitcoin Core.

To me the portion of the project that is cryptography-related is the most crucial. I wouldn't care if the UI had a bug. However, if there's a bug in cryptography like a non-random R-value in a signature, that can be catastrophic. But, again, I'm not totally sure they use another reputable library for EC operations.
This is a question and topic that should be directed to their customer service team, instructing them to push it further to their development team to clarify. I will do it during the weekend if I don't forget. Feel free to add something more if you want to.
469  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 05, 2024, 02:02:55 PM
i just made an email to bjfun admin regarding this and he replied it.

maybe you can update the tables with this information
I appreciate you taking the time to check the information personally. I have asked the customer support myself now and will update the table when they get back to me.

It would be very strange for any casino to have minimum withdrawal for all atcoins and nothing for bitcoin, when altcoins have cheaper fees.
I don't disagree, but that was the information I was given a long time ago. It's not possible to check it further from an empty account like mine. Usually when casinos say there are no minimum withdrawal amounts, you still need a sum to cover the withdrawal/mining fees at least.
470  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Setup Ledger without Ledger Live! on: April 04, 2024, 06:21:35 PM
I know what (F)OSS means. But is also the firmware or the apps also open source? Is he allowed to get them and install them himself?
The cryptocurrency apps are open-source. Some are natively-developed by Ledger, others are created by the developers of various cryptocurrencies. The firmware was always closed-source. Ledger talked about releasing a part of their Ledger Recover code to the public. But nothing is happening on that front. There was even a timeline somewhere. That's ridiculous, of course. It's like agreeing to empty one of the pockets of your choice on your clothes as proof that you didn't steal something. Nice, but what about all your other pockets?

472  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger - checking up on status, and then disaster on: April 04, 2024, 03:45:31 PM
So basically Ledger Live DID create 2 accounts for every 1 hardware wallet.
Ledger Live doesn't create an x amount of accounts because it's bored. It reacts to your inputs. There are separate accounts for each script type, but it's you who decided to use them and generate addresses. You just don't remember what you did.

One says native segwit, one says custom.
Not sure what the "custom" one is supposed to be, but it can either be legacy or nested segwit.

Restoring the seed phrase via seed signer and then looking for transactions (on Sparrow) ALSO did not work. When I say "did not work", it did not show any of my transactions. It's possible that I got something wrong (derivation path, script type).
You have to point the wallet to scan a particular derivation path, especially if the default for wallet 1 is different from the one of wallet 2.

Anyway, my takeaway now is to always only use something like SeedSigner.

Why would Ledger Live make such an insane thing - 2 accounts for every hardware wallet?
There are ways that you can mess up with your Seedsigner. Read the beginner manuals, check the docs on the website, look at YouTube videos, and ask questions before doing something you are not sure about.
473  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Jade DIY hardware wallet on: April 04, 2024, 03:34:49 PM
I know, that's the purpuse and part of the security model of those signing devices. You still want to be sure that after you re-instantiate your wallet, everything from that point of usage of the device is working reliably.
He can always fall back on his backup phrase in case the device starts acting up or becomes unusable for the purpose it was designed for (signing transactions). The worst thing I can think of from the top of my head is that it somehow starts generating addresses whose coins you can never spend (sign) because of a serious bug. Of course, I am just throwing ideas out there, and I don't think it's a realistic scenario.
474  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Setup Ledger without Ledger Live! on: April 04, 2024, 03:24:31 PM
I just hope Ledger will not come up with some nasty ideas to stop this guy.
I don't think they can. Ledger Live is an open-source software. That license gives everyone the right to play around with it, modify it to their liking, and make it publicly available for others to use. If they try to stop that, they are scumbags. But I don't see this becoming too big for it be seen as a threat to Ledger's business model and something they'll try to stop because it's affecting their sales.
475  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: April 04, 2024, 03:16:46 PM
Any plans on creating a European hub of Foundation to sell your current hardware offering (and perhaps setup shop for the future devices?). Probably this isn't on the list as a big priority considering the amount of resellers that you have but perhaps long term could be something that it could be interesting to explore?
Having a distribution centre in Europe would be cool for a company that produces devices like this one. But I don't think it's going to do much in terms of the price. Unless they also create a production and assembly line in the EU. If not, they still have to import their products from the States and pay the required taxes and fees, with the end-users feeling it at the price they will be paying in the end.
476  Economy / Reputation / Re: Standing Strong Against Unjust Attacks: A Call for Community Support on: April 04, 2024, 03:07:00 PM
What? Where do you infer that from? I've told you that I think you were right, that there is something fishy here.
Just so you know, I think you are a disgrace to the forum. You should be ashamed of yourself. I am telling your campaign manager. Come on, tell him. Break his heart.

For my part (not that it matters much), I am removing myself from the thread.
Good lad. I did it once, and now I am doing it a second time for real. I am pretty sure that talking with JackhorseRider causes AIDS or at least sea sickness. I don't want to do it anymore.

@holydarkness
Just tag me when you tell him. I just want to see the red text one more time and you being called a disappointment.
477  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: April 04, 2024, 02:57:22 PM
from where did you see that blackjack.fun have no minimum withdrawal? because i try it a few times to withdraw 5$ on usdt but it says the amount too small.
a few hours ago i even saw someone in bjfun chat that he can't withdraw even 30$ on tron because it says the amount too small
The information in my table concerns numbers for bitcoin. Based on what I know, Blackjack.Fun has no minimum limits for bitcoin withdrawals. I don't keep track of the numbers for altcoins. If something changed, feel free to let me know. They have a somewhat unusual UI, which doesn't make it clear what the minimum is by going to the cashier page.
478  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Options for portable homemade DIY hardware wallet (no commercial wallets)? on: April 03, 2024, 04:20:10 PM
First a tip and reminder: Making multiple posts in a row like you just did is against the forum rules. Instead, you should make a single post and add multiple quotes to the people you are replying to.

Tangem looks like it might fit the bill. With it's credit card size you could keep it in your wallet as you go through airport security. I see they also have a finger-ring option coming soon which looks cool. I'd probably go with the card though.
You could definitely mask the Tangem as a debit/credit card and put it in your wallet with the rest of them. I don't see airport security asking you to take out your cards and showing them to the staff one by one, explaining what they are and for which bank.

But if open-source is one of your requirements, the Tangem won't tick that box. It's a closed source hardware device.
479  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Setup Ledger without Ledger Live! on: April 03, 2024, 04:04:35 PM
As long as there is a way to install the bitcoin app in a Ledger device then using Electrum a user can use ledger without connecting it with Ledger live. All we need a way to install the Apps in the Ledger device. Does this piece of code allow to do the installation?
The software allows you to install the bitcoin app, but you can't update it if a new version is available. I also don't see a command to uninstall an app if you want to do that. It will probably be added later. You can also not upgrade the firmware. This 3rd-party software allows you to complete the Ledger genuine check.

It doesn't say anything about seed generation, and if the app can instruct the Ledger to generate a new seed for you. If not, can you import a seed from elsewhere?!

This gets rid of all the tracking and the ads Ledger places through Ledger Live. I am not so sure how it fixes Ledger Recover. Let me expand on that.

The Ledger Recover code is on the firmware. If you buy a Nano X or Nano S Plus, the code is included in the latest firmware. Ledger tells us that you need to give them the permission to extract the keys and distribute them as shards to three different companies. So, it needs the user's permission. Whether or not that is true, is on everyone to decide and trust themselves. Nothing is publicly verifiable at this point so you can't check it.

In other words, you have no idea what the firmware is doing and whether the device can be configured to extract your keys with or without your permission.

Here is the thing, if you believe the keys can't be extracted without your consent, just don't give it to them and continue using the device like before.
If you believe they can get your keys without your permission, this 3rd-party app won't stop them. The code is in the firmware, and can be configured how they want to. Theoretically, the extraction could happen as soon as you generated your seed.
480  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SafePal X1 Edition USDC - Unboxing on: April 03, 2024, 03:31:47 PM
SFR10 is probably talking about the feature that allows you to verify the ownership of addresses (see, for example, the concept in action in a Trezor device[1] - chapter "Verifying messages"). There are also hardware wallets that are able to verify if a particular address belongs to the hardware wallet, such as Passport Foundation[2] - see chapter "Verify Address".

[1]https://trezor.io/learn/a/sign-verify
[2]https://docs.foundationdevices.com/passport/account
Signing and verifying messages doesn't have to be done on the native hardware wallet software. For instance, you could use Electrum to sign a message with your bitcoin address on Ledger or do the same thing through Etherscan for Ethereum. But the problem with SafePal is that you can't pair it with any of the popular software wallets that most of us use. So unless they add the feature natively, tough luck.
