if you need to watch videos to learn how to post on text boards, then you are already starting at a disadvantage.
I'm not watching vedios to learn how to post on forum boards and don't categorized me into that group.

You really need to learn to read and write in English to post here, and to be able to read white papers and other information about crypto. I didn't include any pictures as a deliberate policy, and I hope that it will encourage junior members to come out of the kindergarten, and learn to read and write.
I really liked about your policies and I always believed that if I'm going for a writing exam, i need to practise by writing not watching or memorizing

I'll probably write an article about ranking, activity and reputation some time.
I'm hoping "P(Jet Cash is writing an article about ranking, activity and reputation)=1" and some time=ASAP Smiley

I now take a lot of time to grade these posts and if they are of a high quality and very constructive, then only will I award merit to the posts.  Sad <sMerit is like a Gold medal, if you work hard for it, then you will receive it.>
I joined this forum recently and I'm still learning about how the forum works and how we should write good quality constructive posts in order to help other forum members while expanding my knowledge too. So if you have some free time can you check my posts wether I'm in the right track or not. Smiley

Apologies for starting yet another merit thread, but I have yet to see a comprehensive description, and i hope I have created one on my blog.
This is the teaser.
Quote
The Bitcoin Talk merit system was introduced to help combat spam and inferior posting, and during the few months that it hs been in operation, it is having some success. I have read numerous posts and threads discussing the merit system, but I have yet to see a comprehensive description of its elements and operation. I hope that this article will help my readers to understand the merit structure. I am Jet Cash, and I am a merit source, I am in the list of top awarders of merit, and the list of top receivers.

Part of the confusions arises from the interchangeable use of the words 'merit' and 'sMerit', and I have replaced those with the words 'medal' and 'credit'. I feel that this makes the description of the system a far easier task. I have used some other words to describe components of the system, and these words are my creations, and they are not part of the official Bitcoin talk description.
https://talkmerit.com/the-source/index.php/articles/the-bitcoin-talk-merit-system

Any comments will be appreciated. I can post the final version in this forum if members think that it will be of benefit to others.

This is very good explainar vedio about merit system that I have found on YouTube .It is better if you can add this link to your blog.Because vedio or picture can explain far better than what have been explained in more than 1000 words and we should also jump on the bandwagon.

I have completed my activity points for Senior Member more than 240 (266) but requirement for Senior Member (New Updates) is also 250 Merits, can anyone tell me how to increase my merit ? currently i have 100 merits .

You have achieved 100 merit target. So I think you should repeat what you have done to achieve 100 merits.(unless you got those merits at the first place when merit system implemented) Smiley
465  Economy / Economics / Re: Is President Trump good or bad for the economy? on: June 04, 2018, 05:59:01 PM
Like any president, Trump is taking credit for good economic news. his highlighted rising stocks and falling unemployment. But Trump also, famously, regards trade deficits as a sign of economic weakness.

he's doing better than his opponents will admit and worse than his supporters believe.
I have found a good article about "Trumponomics" and the ball is in your court Smiley

466  Other / Meta / Re: Threads should be locked after a certain time on: June 04, 2018, 04:06:11 PM
There is already a warning when someone tries to post in a thread that has been inactive for more than 120 days.
Thanks for your helpful information, but I'm suggesting it is better if we can identify before we hit the reply button and not after.

I think OP is used to SMT (Spam Mega Threads) with 600+ shitpost replies (check the Bitcoin Discussion board). So "only" 140 would be a good number (usually it's not).
Can we take 600+ replies as thresold value for identify Spam Mega Threads?
467  Other / Meta / Re: Threads should be locked after a certain time on: June 04, 2018, 01:44:56 PM
Since 140 replies are not that high for our forum threads, I hit the reply button.
I don't get the logic behind ("Since 140 replies"), explaining why you hit the reply button?

I think, after 2 years or a certain time, threads should be automatically locked unless it has any special permission from moderators (of course manually). How many time is best, that you guys will know far better than me.
I think it is better if we can go for soft indicator at the right side of the thread or bottom of the forum board that the thread has been created "X" number of years back before we going for ultimate answer of locking the threads.
Another thing I want to highlight is some of the threads are enternally true( actually at least more than 2 years) regardless of it's date of creation.so we have to be careful if we going for locking threads. The value of threads are subjective and we can't say it's useless after some times.
468  Other / Meta / Re: Merit System: the true value behind it on: June 04, 2018, 10:48:11 AM
After starting out in the crypto scene I joined some Facebook groups, other Forums, Telegram groups etc. And everywhere HUNDREDS of people are trying to sell you ICOs, CFDs, Blogs, Newsletters... I could go on! Everywhere you go, you run into a huge hurricane of SUPERBAD advertising. With one exception: Bitcointalk.

But recently I have seen that Bitcointalk- endorsed ICO(I think you know what I mean) So I think you will reconsider about the fact regarding ICO and Bitcointalk. Smiley

Can you suggest to me some interesting contents on making post?
Gonna make it extraordinary..  Cheesy Thanks!
Don't know why you're asking from other members to suggest a topic to make your post. It's like you're running a radio show which asking their listeners to comment about what song should play Smiley. No man, this is not a radio station and this is Bitcointalk Meta. I think this post really should have posted in "off topic" board.

Anything will be appreciated!
Are you going to post anything? Better to make something that you think which will be helpful to the forum members.

I've seen some topics like this.
Here are some similar links that I found:

Why not join the discussion on an existing thread?
I joined this forum very recently and I also made this kind of post(but it actually has almost all the BB coding tips)[Tips]Bulletin Board Codes But now I have realized I should have joined to a discussion on an existing thread(actually in that time I didn't know very much about "search" function) Luckily now I know what should I do before posting Smiley

P.S- I have already used your (Husna QA) post as reference as well.
472  Other / Meta / Re: How bad posters reduce the availability of merits - by a merit source on: June 01, 2018, 05:08:30 PM
...it not work for me because my english isn't good.

Why don't you start working on improving it? Some references:
TMAN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0
FtT Jet Cash: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4186147.0
Some books from nev1d's recommendation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4310050.0
There are more! Learn to use the forum SEARCH function.

A friendly suggestion mate: Invest in yourself first, everything else will follow you later.
English is not the native language for most of the forum members. So why don't you azvn learn English from forum itself which having so many helpful threads instead making excuses.English is also not my native language, but I never give up. Sometimes we are thinking that "X" person's English is the perfect but trust me, no one is perfect. We are learning from womb to tomb.
I have already bookmarked above mentioned references and for the SEARCH function I think this is the best reference

473  Other / Meta / Re: How bad posters reduce the availability of merits - by a merit source on: May 31, 2018, 07:09:50 PM
So next time that you want to complain about the shortage of merits, just remember that it is the selfish pooposters who cause the problem, and not the system. If you are a pooposter spamming a worthless bounty, or scammy ICO, just remember that you are depriving better quality members of the merits they deserve. You can also reflect on the fact that many of the members are starting to despise you for doing it.
I joined this forum recently and my initial impressions about this new merit system is not quite good(just like most of the newbies). But after spending some times, I have realized that this is the best thing happened to this kind of a knowledge hub(it should have introduced way before than it's introduction in earlier this year). Now I am using search button more often than post button and damn it helps me a lot.I think if someone posting good quality stuff, helping other members and be active in the forum rewards will come as a bonus while you have gains lot of knowledge.
When I reading your post that I have remembered these lines said by Albert Einstein" The world will not be distroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything"One last thing, check these
Top merited recent replies how the merit system get abused by [ANN] threads (not the thread actually but the members) by giving huge amount of merits for some shitposting which should have given to where it actually worth.
474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much does an Airdrop cost? on: May 30, 2018, 05:33:50 PM
It's kind of like facebook - if it doesn't cost you anything, then YOU are the product.
I had to agreed with your consice explanation and I have found quite interesting fact about the phrase "You are the product". It is firstly appeared 1986,in a speech where President Reagan addresses to the nation on the campaign against drug abuse Smiley
475  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk. Newbie friendly + calculator and infographic on: May 30, 2018, 02:05:45 PM
Interesting thing is if you have posts over the limit from the previous cycle, with the first comment in the new cycle you get the Activity points from the old posts you had in the previous cycle.
Example:  I had 28 Activity points and 33 comments before the end of the cycle, with my first post in the new cycle my Activity points went up to 34, the same amount as my posts.
In this example you are saying our extra activity will be counted instantly with the first post after two weeks period. Is that means our posts are not going to wasted and still count as activities for the next two weeks period?

Certainly, we can see improvements and changes to the merit system in future.
I had to agree with your comment, there should be some tweaks for the merit system and system to be implemented for monitoring of merit abuse. It would be nice if there is demirit button for such kind of merit abuse scenarios.

Quote from: krishnaverma
In my opinion, success o a large forum is dependent mainly on the good members there. It is responsibility of genuine members here not only to make good posts but to also report abuse of forum rules including those related to merit.
When I looking to the stats of merits, I have found that most of the recent top merited replies coming from [ANN] treads. That is not the sole purpose of merit system implementation as far to my knowledge. It will leads even more people for those treads and shitposting.
Check these stats Top merited recent replies and decide how the merit system manipulated by ANN treads.
477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Tips] Bulletin Board Codes(BB Codes) on: May 28, 2018, 11:07:16 PM
Can we use the "search function" before creating a new thread?
I am using "search function" in daily, even bookmarked and I have clearly mentioned about it in my post

And the worst part is that there is a whole page in the forum that explains all those codes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref
I have gone thoroughly that forum page before creating this thread and I couldn't found any details about how we can add hex color codes instead of inbuilt 14 colors in the Bulletin Board.I also added link to hex color code site too.

I have created this thread more user freindly way than the forum page that i already bookmarked and thanks for your thoughts which surely helps me for my next post Smiley

I was really amazed when i joined the Bitcointalk forum by considering how much that we can learn from a single forum about cryptocurrency rather just searching so many web pages through internet. Then i started to search and read the posts. Then i realized this is not just a search and read forum and we need to be interact with other peoples in order get maximum out of it. Then i had to faced the another problem "How do i posting a good post with BB Codes?" So i learned Basics about BB codes and i want to share it with you guys.Feel free to fill my voids from your valuable additions to make this post to become a complete guidance for BB code learners (I am more than happy to add your additions to my post) Smiley

2. There are 4 a default thumbnail images to each video the, URL to these images will be like

Is there any system to find out about merit manipulation?
I just seen that some random reply got 51 merits today.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=679791.msg36085177#msg36085177

I think anyone can spent their merits as they wish, but why cannot we introduce rules for merit manipulation?

Hello Sir/Madam
Its my pleasure to be aware of what would be the guidelines to become a full member of this forum.

Thank you.

I think if you can use search button more oftenly and turn on read mode instead of pressing post button always, will create a hyperloop for your target to become a full member Smiley

Another thing, I don't think we want to say Sir/Madam to forum members to gain merits.Just be polite with other members.
