461  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin benefit of saving for a long time? on: March 12, 2017, 10:26:06 AM
If you have idle coins, you can also consider running joinmarket.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=919116.0
You will make a small profit from your coins and you will benefit from Bitcoin's upside as well.
462  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the SEC straight fucking with us now? on: March 11, 2017, 03:01:13 AM
ETF approval would cause bitcoin's price to double or possible triple because of influx of institutional capital to still not that big market.
So if we are thinking of BTC as long-distance investment strategy then ETF denial is a actually a good thing.
It will give us time to buy cheaper coins (always buy when there is panic selling) and gear up for the bright future.

How long do you want to keep buying coins? At some point, we have to realize the gains from our investment. You do not want to carry your bitcoins to your grave.
I would have been okay with the ETF approval. It would have been a step forward. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
463  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will we see $1300 again? on: March 11, 2017, 02:58:39 AM
Finding some sort of a mid way solution that will hammer down all negativity around the never ending block size discussions. Basically every thread gets hijacked by those that don't want to contribute with support for SegWit. Bitcoin's demand will grow regardless of this or other ETF's, but it will require people to have a bit more patience. Beside that, the +$1300 peak was nothing more than a fake pump attempt. Don't add much value to it.

This roght here is the biggest problem right now; the community refusing to accept function critical improvements. Effectively signing the death sentence for their own investment. Quite hilarious if you ask me.

Such problems will get resolved with time. When that does happen, the price will really take off.
The only concern is that we should not be overtaken by some other alt before that happens.
464  Economy / Economics / Re: Are central banks losing control? on: March 11, 2017, 02:50:03 AM
Eight years after the crisis of 2008-09, central banks are still injecting $200 billion a month into the global financial system to keep it from imploding.

Are central banks losing control?

The real impact will be seen once inflation starts rising. All this money which has been printed will show its effect at some point.
That is when the central banks will realize how little control they have.
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 11, 2017, 02:46:58 AM
New Zealand v South Africa (1st Test) = 1000% DRAW

There is a 96% Rain Prediction on 5th Day
some shower on 4th day afternoon

and 2 innings remaining... not that easy to get such quality batsman out in short time

Second innings already started and SA has scored 98 runs, and still, 8 wickets are remaining in this innings. If rain comes then match will end in a draw otherwise, surely one team will win. Now we can't say who is going to win because both are equally strong teams and both of them scored almost same runs in first innings. I will not bet in this game.

Why do you think so? It is not unusual for teams to play out 2 days without being able to force a win.
Both New Zealand and South Africa are strong teams and I think a draw is the most likely outcome.
466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Disaproved on: March 11, 2017, 02:43:02 AM
$700 a coin HERE WE COME!

Nice smart recovery. Looks like we are going to stay at 4 digits, even after the ETF got rejected.
We are at $1130 now, and it is not too different from where we were a week back.

It's a good sign, but IMO the bear isn't over just yet, we're gonna play around this level at least up until next week I suppose.

It is tough to decide whether the bad news has been fully factored in.
It has been close to 12 hours... Sufficient for most market participants to take in the news and decide on the strategy.
467  Economy / Speculation / Re: I feel strong fear ... on: March 08, 2017, 03:48:53 PM
This is good.
Weak hands are shaken out.

Not too much fear. We have retreated by around $100.
I have seen chaos when the price crashes. We have a long way to go. People are just waiting on the sidelines.
468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 08, 2017, 03:41:07 PM
South Africa vs New Zealand. 1st Test match, day 1 stumps SA made 229 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. After losing 3 quick wickets, it's great to come back from SA. opener Dean Elgar scored a century he is playing with 128 runs. Let's see how many runs SA will make tomorrow.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat. I am not sure if that is the right thing to do in New Zealand, where there is help for the bowlers early in the match. South Africa lost some early wickets, but have managed to recover.
469  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: March 08, 2017, 12:23:13 AM
9 out of the last 10 days figure in the top 10 list (in USD terms). Not bad at all.
I think we have established a floor at $1200 levels.  Smiley

It's such a game changer. When I was thinking and almost sure that India would lose this match, it seems they require just 1 wicket to win this test match. Australia losing in quick succession was a surprise as they always played well on such grounds and Marsh, Smith this time failed to perform. It looks like the same case when India played the first time and all their batsmen failed. It's all thanks to Pujara who saved the second innings and Ashwin's 7 wickets.

PS: Now India won the match by 75 runs. A big win.  Grin
Great win for team India and finally they made it.This is called a perfect team performance, but Ashwin was so good and took 6 wickets.
Lets wait for player of the match announcement,i guess it's Ashwin..

Edit: Player of the match - KL Rahul (India), i was wrong  Roll Eyes

Rahul deserved it as he performed in both the matches and helped India to get atleast a decent score in the first match. I'm really disappointed with Virat as he has failed to perform in 4 matches now and the entire team needs to pull up their socks and play well. Ashwin, Jadeja, Pujara and Rahul were the match winners for me.

It is good that Virat failed in this match. Now he is due for a big one and hopefully that will be in the next match. Australia need only 1 more win to retain the Border Gavaskar trophy and Virat is our best chance to prevent that.
471  Economy / Economics / Re: A little perspective: $198 to $1139 then and $198 to $1139 now on: March 07, 2017, 04:29:37 PM
I used to be nervous with such quick price surges, but it seems that at the moment, there is nothing much I can do but enjoy the ride, and I am getting used to it. This amazing run might end at some point this second quarter, but we are sure to see more movements (up, down, and even sideways) along the way. All these talk and anticipation of the SEC approval on the ETF has people wanting more of bitcoin even at such a high price, with the confidence at bitcoin at an all time high.

Even with Bitcoin's volatility, I always have a little flutter in my stomach when the price rises up to these levels. But I have learnt to bite my teeth and resist the temptation to sell, primarily because most of my coins are in cold storage.  Smiley
472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: March 07, 2017, 04:24:59 PM
quite a  bit of consolidation going on.

That is a good thing. The maniac upsurges are the ones which result in crashes.
When people get hurt, they tend to avoid bitcoin. Hopefully, that won't happen in the current case.

Pressure got them I must say , 188 is an easy target for a team like Australia but they screwed it up . All they needed was one good partnership but they didn't get it and now the series is drawn Smiley It makes the further matches exciting though .
The pitch was very slow and making 188 runs is also big tough in this pitch. Why Bangalore pitch made like this, i don't actually it's batting pitch. Many players made more centuries in this ground. Anyway finally India back to his form, yes it's a great to win to team India. And all credits goes to Pujara and Ashwin if these guys not performed means India may lose this game.

The pitch was made like this so that the Indian team can take advantage of it. Of course, it can backfire like it happened in Pune. Now the series is level 1-1 and it has become more exciting.
474  Economy / Speculation / Re: When does an ETF buy coins on: March 06, 2017, 04:30:02 PM
If the Winklevii ETF was accepted on 13th, will it go "live" then, and people can buy the ETF right away? Or is there still some delay?

And more importantly, at what point does the ETF actually buy new coins? If the Winklvii have 100K BTC, do they sell all those first before the ETF buys any more? (So it might actually have a negative effect on the price as more supply is available and some people may chose to buy the ETF instead of buying coins on an exchange?)

Is the ETF a close-ended fund? In that case, it will be open for subscriptions for a certain period of time. As and when people subscribe, the ETF will buy bitcoins to match the subscriptions.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 06, 2017, 04:28:06 PM
India is fighting to come back into the game as they have a lead of 126 runs at the moment and with Rahane and Pujara in the crease they could build a good total and if they can get to a lead of 250 runs then it could be a competitive match as it will be difficult for them to chase a score above 250 in the fourth innings.

India have managed a great turnaround on day 3 of the test match. Given the way they played in the first innings, people expected them to get out quickly. Now they have a fighting chance of winning this match and catching up in this series.
476  Economy / Economics / Re: You should never trust banks on: March 05, 2017, 01:04:31 AM
I don't have any reasons not to trust banks because as far as I know, banking storage of money is reliable and many business owners deposited their assets on a savings accounts they have for fiat cash money. Well if we ignore trusting banks its not worth earning btc because we can use fiat cash money, to exchange it from digital currency to fiat currency by using online wallet which has an option for bank cash-out.
Yeah that's what banks are something which are more thana century old and j think this person is thinking banks should be replaced by bitcoins or some other alternative which is too much. But I don't think bank is the only way to get bitcoins I met a person yesterday who would give me his bitcoins for my phone.
To date, the bank has no alternative. You say it yourself. So there is no alternative and is not. With bitcoin lot of questions and there will be many problems as your desires will be fulfilled. The first is the legalization and the effective recognition of the bitcoin currency, the second control operations and that everyone understands what it means. Bitcoin will lose benefits.

There are companies which focus on the individual businesses that banks operate in
- P2P lending businesses give competition to banks loan businesses
- Online wallets give competition to their payment businesses
- Blockchain firms may challenge their custodian businesses.

Soon, banks might find that all their businesses have been chipped away.  Smiley
477  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like we are going to test $1,300+ on: March 05, 2017, 12:53:04 AM
if without prblem and bad news bitcoin price can easy over 1300 dollar
but if ETF, SEC and PBOC result is bad , bitcoin price not incraese but crash and down price

If the ETF doesn't come through, then it will result in the price going down, but it won't be anything severe. Don't forget that the price has gone up quite a bit in a very short time. That being said, regardless of the ETF outcome, a correction is inevitable as the market can't sustain these levels for long. The market must come down and settle before it continues to move further. Regarding the PBOC, I don't see much problems there as China is not that big of a deal anymore when it comes to trading.

If the ETF doesn't come through, all the triggers are negative.
People will start worrying about the PBOC, block size debate, etc.... Overall sentiment could turn negative very quickly.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 05, 2017, 12:30:41 AM
India seems to be in a heap of trouble now. They have lost 4 wickets and have just scored 131 runs. With K.Nair and Rahul batting, I dont see much experience in these batsmen and there's a good chance that one of them gets out sooner rather than later. While I predict that, its a great opportunity for them to show that they are the future of Indian cricket.

Indian players are not able to face the spinners of Australia , dont know what happened but this new team of young players are not able to perform in the home ground and performing so bad that too against spinners. This test is also mostly going towards Australia win as India are 187/7 Only KL Rahul have scored high balance everyone got out below 25 runs Now we have to see what India are going to score and how they are going to bowl.

South Africa Bowled well and got all out NZ for 149 and finished the match in 33 overs with 4 wickets loosing by this they have won the odi series.
Its really strange for me also what happen to Indian batting line up they completely fail to face Australian spinners in last three innings they are completely dominating without any problem Australia done great work with this now commanding in this second test also Indians under pressure need some hard work for fight back if Ashwin and Jadeja fail to stop them then they will down and out

Ya it is true that if Ashwin and Jadeja if wont be to take wickets and keep australia under 250 score then surely it is something wrong with the team players as the main strength of Indian team was playing against spinners very smoothly but now we are seeing that they are behaving like when Australia or England have been playing against spinners.

My view is that this game also Australia will win it if they are able to score above 300+ in first innings

I think they will score much more, although a lead of 100 will be sufficient for them to win this match. Their openers were solid in the last session of yesterday. India will have to do really well to bowl them out quickly.
479  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin ETF announcement March 11 what do you expect? on: March 04, 2017, 03:27:30 PM
Despite what people say about "Slim chances", I think the ETF will go through. You can't put a rate on a educated decision. It's also not just the Winklevoss ETF that is being pushed, there are a couple more.

Bitcoin and the blockchain is being researched and used by major fintech companies already, I doubt the SEC will be daft enough to not approve it.

The mandate of the SEC is to protect investors. Whether common investors are savvy enough to understand the risks posed by a Bitcoin ETF is the question the SEC should answer. That is why most analysts predict only a slim chance of approval.
480  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like we are going to test $1,300+ on: March 04, 2017, 03:24:07 PM
i am sure the trend is not gonna resist the rise, because it has been soaring incessantly; thus the price of being $1500 within this month is possible, yet do not forget the competition of mining would affect the bitcoin price: if the fee is too high, more likely the price is trowed down for less volume expected.

$1500 this month looks very steep. The only way that could happen is if the ETF gets approved.
But even otherwise, I think we might cross $1300 this month.
