Are you going to be staking that 10% premine?
Of course I'm going to stake my coins. I put a lot of time into creating everything and maintaining this thread, the information, etc. A lot of that will end up being given away when I do a giveaway. Jesus Christ how could you be so greedy? That "10%" will be much more than 10% because of you staking such a large chunk of the supply so you'll have the rewards plus there will be less pow blocks. Completely misjudged this one at first glance.. it seemed like a decent bit of effort had gone into it. Now it just looks designed for the devs to dump their wad as soon as it hits an exchange. Think i'll be pulling my miners. 10% of the whole supply and "of course" we're staking it. Mind blowing greed. Earlier, we decided not to stake the coins. We won't be dumping the coins when it hits an exchange. If you want pull your miners, that's up to you. Ok. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, it's just it looked like you had the makings of a decent coin that you had ruined by making the premine too big. Just to lay out my concerns, for you to take or leave, already about 1 third of blocks are pos meaning the 10k you claim as 10% is more likely to be 14 or 15%. Its doubtful that a major exchange will list a coin with a premine that big. You would have to give away a sizable chunk for this not to be the case. Might be worth thinking about if it is something you want to succeed long term. |

VESTS are locked STEEM that get voting rights, dilution protection (essentially interest approximately equal to inflation), and can only be withdrawn over a period 104 weekly payments. Something >90% (maybe much higher, I haven't checked recently) of the STEEM supply is locked up in VESTS.
Should we lock up STEEM purchased from Bittrex in VESTS? But if you do you won't get them back for 2 years? "Over two years" not "for two years". When you transfer from vesting it schedules 104 equal weekly payments. The first is in one week. As for what you "should" do, you will have to make your own trading and investment decisions. How do you transfer from vesting? |

yeah when can we get a mac update seriously? what is taking the mac wallet dev so long? i get the impression he is lazy and one of these home schooling types.
How about 1. No one is paying him 2. The code is borked so he'd just have to compile it again in a few hours when the devs fix it But keep on insulting the guy, I'm sure that'll make him want to help you out. |

That blockchain is not going to move anytime soon, if ever.
That's an absolutely normal diff for PoS, look at my paste above stakes are being rejected because it's looking for masternodes (which are disabled) to split the reward with. I've never seen higher than 100 for any PoS coin. I just checked the wallets of 3 other PoS coins I have and all are above 100k difficulty. Well nevermind me then. Just downloaded your r5 win wallet, deleted everything except wallet.dat. Resynced the block chain and stuck again at 70368 Any advice how to fix it? Any special nodes to connect to? I'm synced using the nodes from the op. Block 71489 but several hours since the last block staked so it looks like it's out of sync when it's not. |

Inflation and no marketing/Promotion is killing decred.
Simple.
Maybe this coin will be pumped sometimes, but price will not encrease as stated.
Team is not working properly.
Just wait zcash within a couple of months,and decred is going to die.

A GUI wallet is not a news!
The strategy is very simple. Let's look at the strengths and the weaknesses that have emerged. I know this is anecdotal, and mostly based on observation, but the Decred software right now is only really accessible through a command-line interface (CLI) and that makes expansion in terms of users hard. The modular design gives it a lot of flexibility, but that also means it's not a simple CLI - you've got dcrd, dcrwallet, and dcrctl. If you don't know your way around the command-line, it is going to be a battle. Nobody denies that, and you certainly won't hear the devs tell you it's your problem. You're essentially opening up an engine and working with it directly and you don't get to experience it yet. So there is a reason the UX overhaul with Paymetheus is RFP-1. There's a reason folks like Dyrk have created excellent interfaces to showcase the Decred network as a visualisation - hell, he did that before he was awarded RFP-3, so we'll have two real-time statistical overviews of the network. That goes hand-in-hand with the work done by Shadowlance, David, and zkott - they are making documentation accessible to users that do want to open up the engine and see what's going on and how to interact with it. That is what everyone is doing. We're all working on the different kinks in the machinery. But it's still machinery. The worst thing Decred could do right now is bring a ton of hype to something few people can use. The original exposure brought smart people who have been tinkering all this time and continue to do so. These are the ones that see the bigger picture and aren't just here to make a quick buck. It's the reason the c0/dev bring-up DCR was locked away from trade for 12-24 months. I don't know if you've seen this, but recently a tweet went out that reads: "A little over two months in. 242 pull requests of code merged and 113 issues fixed across 30 open-source #Decred repositories since launch!". That's a lot of development in a short amount of time. You would be silly to think things will always be quiet, but there is no point in making a lot of noise if the engine is still being tuned. A bunch of stake pool operators will be coming online as well - many of them have graduated from the first milestone on testnet. Truly talented and patient people who really deserve medals. That means Decred takes another small step toward accessibility. People can then start spreading their votes across multiple stake pools in multiple geolocations. When all of the stake pools go online, there will be enough infrastructure to attract plenty of voters. Imagine the implications of that. One step closer to decentralised voting so we can smooth fork our chain and make decisions as users with technology. We get to tap into the power of collective decision-making. Without even knowing each other (and associated biases), we get to decide on important issues together and successfully reach an outcome. That's something you can make noise about that even outsiders who don't understand the first thing about cryptocurrency would understand - and understand the potential of that. For now, we're building and tuning an engine. It's not for the faint of heart, but we continue to build so that one day they will see there was nothing to be scared of to begin with. The journey is full of bumps, but that's part of the fun when you know where you want to go. Really enjoyed reading this, thanks for taking the time _ingsoc. |

beta hosted wallet to be released the first week of May. At that time the average Joe will be able to use Steem.
