461  Economy / Gambling / [ANN] btclottery.tk - 0.0005 BTC per entry *** HOURLY DRAWS ** 1 WINNER PER DRAW on: December 21, 2013, 02:15:30 AM
Hi all,

Just launched http://www.btclottery.tk - which, as you can assume from the name is a bitcoin lottery site. Although actually, it's more of a raffle.

Here's the gist:
Pay 0.005 BTC for an entry into the next draw.
You can pay multiples of 0.001 for multiple entries. I.e. 0.002 BTC gets you two entries.
Draws are on the hour, every hour.
A draw is only made if there are at least 4 unique entries.
The winning address is selected at random from the database, and 97% of the total pot, minus miner fee, is paid to that address. House takes the other 3%.

You can also donate to the pot (although I guess I'm not sure why you would... just buy a ticket?), at 112r6dHW3cEC9x6DPCJsXfVUh7BPu58huW

Let me know what you guys think.

Ta!

** UPDATE: COST OF ENTRY SLASHED TO 0.0005 BTC **

Don't worry. Someone will buy it off you on ebay for 3x what you paid. Standard.
463  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I am planning to start an altcoin exchange, need help calculating my expenses. on: December 19, 2013, 02:41:19 PM
You've vastly underestimated your overall IT budget here. Seriously. And it's something you really shouldn't skimp on. Don't use eLance. Find a developer local to you (bonus if they use bitcoin already) so you can meet them, discuss the project, plan out development timeframes and costs. You'll also need someone to handle server setup. And I mean someone good. Last thing you want is your site getting hacked because of a poorly configured setup. And realistically you should probably need three servers: 1 to host the frontend of the site, a database server, and a server for the wallets.

Oh, and remember: don't use Linode.

Wow. After reading this thread like a novel, I genuinely thought Joe would get things back up and running again after prison. Seemed genuine, and someone reliable. Really hope you guys manage to track down your assets and get hold of them again.

Should probably post this on /r/bitcoin too, and maybe some other places. His site is still up and people may still be ordering! I was going to suggest contacting his web host, but that appears to be GoDaddy. So good luck.

470  Economy / Service Announcements / CleverPuffin.com BitCoin Web Hosting *OFFICIAL THREAD* on: December 17, 2013, 10:09:47 PM
Hi all,

Just wanted to let you all know that at CleverPuffin you can now create your own hosting package!

We used to have (and still do, if anyone's interested) three set packages to choose from - but we've added this new facility in to give you greater flexibility.

We've also added an affiliate programme where you can earn 5% commission on referred sales, and we've recently changed our ToS as adult material is now allowed to be hosted.

Oh and we've added a blog, windows support, and support for litecoin and some FAQs and other not so fun stuff Smiley

Anyway, feel free to check it out at http://www.cleverpuffin.com

edit: Also if anyone's having a hard time deciding if it's right for them or not, I can give you a free 1 or 2 week trial for you to see if it suits your needs. Either PM me on here or shoot me an email to info@cleverpuffin.com

edit: Some server/infrastructure information:

Cloud Hosting
All of our web hosting packages are in the cloud. With our cloud hosting, you can be safe in the knowledge that if one of our servers fail, your content will still be being served from another seamlessly.

Our Servers
Our web hosting platform uses only the best Dell servers. Our server infrastructure includes failsafes so that in the event of one server failing, another server immediately comes online and handles the work of the failed server. This failsafe server retains all of the configuration parameters of the failed server.

On top of this, all of your site's files, databases, emails etc, are stored and synchronised onto two disk arrays. In the event of the primary array failing, the secondary array will continue to serve with no downtime.

Our Server Specifications
Dual Quad Core Intel Xeon 3.16GHz with 2X6MB Cache
16 GB RAM
Dual 136 GB SCSI Drive
RAID Mirroring
Dual Power Supplies
Dual Gigabit Network Adapters

UPDATE 11/03/2014:
We're now accepting Vertcoin too! http://www.cleverpuffin.com/blog/now-accepting-vertcoin/
471  Economy / Service Announcements / [ANN] CleverPuffin Affiliate Program on: December 17, 2013, 06:33:25 PM
Link to announcement

Today I'm happy to announce the creation of the CleverPuffin Affiliate Program. The program, which is open to everyone, customers and non-customers alike, will give you the opportunity to refer friends with a unique link. Should your link refer a new customer, you’ll be eligible to 5% of the total sale price.

Please note, all referrals are only applicable to sales where BitCoin was used for payment. LiteCoin is currently not yet supported in this affiliate program.

Payouts will be processed automatically by us, once the threshold of 0.002 BTC has been met in your account.

Do not share your unique affiliate panel URL with anyone. Anyone with this link will be able to change the withdrawal address.

CleverPuffin reserves the right to change any detail of this affiliate program, including but not limited to the commission percentage and the payout threshold.

472  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain.info Receive Payment API on: December 14, 2013, 11:25:22 AM
Is it broken? I had a customer create an order last night (he actually placed two orders), but I never got the usual call-back from API. I emailed him directly to follow up with and this is what he said:

473  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: COINBASE IS A BUNCH OF THIEVES. on: December 13, 2013, 11:47:44 PM
I would like to know if Coinbase can be easily hacked if you use 2 factor AUTH.

I would like to use it to store a fair amount of BTC.

Nothing should be easily hacked if you use 2FA... unless the hackers also steal your phone?

If I remember correctly, someone posted something like this on reddit a while ago. And the end result was that coinbase guaranteed the initial rate. Think at that point it was down to failing AML/KYC. Are you verified?

480  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Coinbase MiniFaucet Script (a MyFaucet replacement) on: December 13, 2013, 12:17:05 PM
Nice faucet! If you have any other projects you would like to sell for Bitcoin, check out BitOrca We also have a competition going for best bitcoin tool Smiley

Your site is a marketplace for scripts? They are pretty expensive.

Way too expensive for anyone to want to buy. Not enough sales on existing items to make anyone want to submit. Hope it works out though, but for the meantime I'll stick to codecanyon/themeforest.
