He either needs to sell now or long term hold because, since the article was released, his $8mil is now only worth $5mil.

Since the time I wrote this post yesterday his stash is now only worth $4 million.

462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking News: Tether , a problem or just FUD... on: February 06, 2018, 05:22:08 AM

I remember 5-6 years ago everyone on this forum talked about the fiat fractional reserve banking system as if it was the devil himself. Bitfinex has figured out how to turn bitcoin into a fractional reserve system and everyone fell for it. LOL

463  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: February 06, 2018, 05:02:25 AM
my posts are also not enough interesting to earn me some merit although i try my best to do a good post.. anyways admins have changed the rules for the ranks up-gradation and we can not do anything about it expect doing the best posts on the threads

That sounds good. It doesn’t look like you have ever posted in a thread that is anything other than a bounty or advertising thread. In order to get merit you will eventually need to post somewhere else on the forum.

464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only a wet dream from me? on: February 05, 2018, 04:52:02 PM
OK, this could be only a wet dream from me but I try to think positive. But again it came to my mind and I decided to write it down:

There are very few people who holds an enormous amount of bitcoins. Could it happen, if someone from them decide to share a percentage of their bitcoins to all other wallets that holds only a little amount to give all poor wallet-owners power at a specified time in the future when there's an urgent need for all of us (global financial breakdown or something similar)?

I think this dream will never happen, Because all people that invest their money in bitcoin only intended to get more money, so I think no one will ever donate bitcoin to those people who they don't know. Unless of course they are victims of typhoons or something. As of the moment, I don't know any reason for people who have a large amount of bitcoin to share their bitcoin to others.

Maybe his dream is right. What if Satoshi held all those coins because at some point in the future (say at the 10 year point) he was going to send a small amount of all of his btc to the current users? Or he decided he was going to wait until bitcoin was losing support and create a sensation around bitcoin by posting that he would send all his holdings to businesses deciding to accept bitcoin. Wouldn’t that be cool. It’s too bad the only person we could ask about his plans is the only person to ever talk to him privately, Gavin Andersen. Andresen has proven himself to be totally unreliable as a source so I guess we won’t know until it happens.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 50 cent on: February 05, 2018, 03:53:29 PM
his $8mil is now only worth $5mil.

I think $ 5 million is still a huge profit, instead of the actual payment. But I would still HODL the coins and see if the profit continues to increase.
I think 50 Cent has enough money to survive a setback in the extent. I would like to know what he was thinking at the moment he discovered his coins.  Cheesy Grin

At this point he should just hold until he needs the money. I bet MC hammer wishes he was holding 700btc at the end of his career when his “crew” stole all his money.

May I direct 10-20 posts only in English language? I have a lot of good posts in russian local forum

I’m sorry but I have to stick to what I put in the OP. I don’t help exclusively altcoin people or local sub people. I just don’t know how to judge their post quality. Good luck and thanks for stopping by.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: February 04, 2018, 06:07:51 PM
Actually, I'm really buzzed: there are so many unbelievable beautiful "girls" on twitter with all kind of crypto hashtags.
(most of them, russian)

Two possibilities:

1) they are men just trying to catch attention at any price

2) they are real girls trying to find a bitcoin millionaire.

Do you have other explanation?

Maybe they are just girls who are interested in bitcoin or more importantly blockchain? Girls who work in IT start-ups (scandalous!!!!)? Girls who have PhD in computer science (impossible?) Girls who have finance background (ridiculous?)
This all is possible because now women are more socially active than men as now women are educated and they can do all thing that a man use to do, girls are having sharp mind than men now, girls are able to serve the country they can be doc, they are teachers, they are now working in banks and a lot of other things so why they won’t use bitcoin, if they have skills and information they will use it to help her family.

That's a nice one, thank you! However I bet for the ICO in your signature it's way better that crypto stays male dominated - will ensure constant demand growth Wink

Ne laisse pas les hommes ici te déranger trop. la plupart des hommes sont vraiment stupides, surtout ceux qui sont dans ce fil.

It is true that in this way you will make it difficult for all account farmers, but for ordinary users, achieving more merit points will be practically impossible and then the entire ranking system loses meaning.

You are a curious person to me. The majority of your post history is in Chinese. I randomly translated some of the older posts from that Chinese guy and he was a pretty big bitcoin supporter. He was worried about what his government would do to bitcoin.

Then *poof* as if by some kind of forum magic that Chinese guy becomes fluent in English, never posts in a Chinese language thread again, becomes a bounty hunter and only posts in threads talking about profit. I hope you didn’t spend too much for that account.

I don’t know how much I trust your opinion on the whole merit situation since you’re probably one of the people this system is supposed to eliminate.

It's one of the hacked accounts.
All posts in Chinese until September 19, 2014. Then we have a 3 year break in which time we had that data leak and someone grabbed it, sold and suddenly since August 11, 2017 it's running under new, English speaking management.  Cheesy

Ah, that makes sense then.

I guess I should give him some merit. ROFL

Sorry, and you have an erroneous opinion of me, i'm not a bounty hunter) Good luck and prosperity) Thanks.

Oh, sorry if I got the wrong idea. I just look at post history for a lot of posts like this:

Bitcoin Forum > Alternate cryptocurrencies > Marketplace (Altcoins) > Bounties (Altcoins)>Re: [BOUNTY] [TOKEN SALE] LOCI Thinking Better. Together.

“Hello, I got the rank of Full Member. I changed the signature and put the avatar, please change my data in the table. Thank you.”

Best of luck to you too. Thanks for stopping by.

472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use of wallets? on: February 04, 2018, 04:33:44 PM
Hello all!

I've never used any wallets (like Electrum and such) but everybody tells me I should because of safety reasons. Why?

Isn't it like a fiat wallet where I put my cash in and it can't grow anymore? I'm confused  Huh

Thanks.
Consider Electrum and Electrum-like wallets like your own vault which you have at home and your keep your money in. The only way to get an access to it is to use the key which have only you and no one else. You can be sure that nobody can steal funds from your vault until they somehow get the key from you. From the other side consider another type of wallets, most commonly online wallets, as something similar to your friend's vault where he keeps your money on your behalf. When something happens to him, his vault or key, that's all. You no longer have your money and you probably wouldn't be able to find out who stole your money, your friend or someone else who stole your friend vault's key. You have to trust a lot to your friend to allow him to keep your money. That's the most important reason you have to use a wallet which allows you to control private keys. Not less important is to keep the private keys from your wallet safely so no one could steal them.

This is probably the single best plain English answer to any question I’ve ever seen come from a Jr. Member.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin "Mainstream" yet? The poll. on: February 04, 2018, 04:22:25 PM
Harvard Business Review published an article in 2017 analyzing the potential for blockchain technology to break into the mainstream. The study cited an overall lack of usability as the single largest barrier to widespread public adoption:
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/before-we-can-blockchain-world-need-simplifyaccess-kevin-murcko

That’s mainly just an advertisement for CoinMetro but I do agree with much of what he said.

Good evening, tell me and for the Russian part of the population of the forum there is an opportunity to earn from you merit? Thank you for attention

I’m sorry, I don’t speak any Russian at all and you’re a bounty hunter so I can’t help you.

Thanks for stopping by.

The last few pages of this thread actually show your position on the earth as it turns in relation to the sun.

The non-English speaking forum members wake up and attempt to speak out about what they see as a problem in the only way they can (using a translator). You English speaking posters need to calm down and realize the local subs don’t each have their own Meta section fully translated in a language they speak fluently. They need to voice their concerns here in English.

Theymos made me think hard about why some of these people are here. Many of them probably are impoverished and see the little amounts of money they can make here as a gold mine. It’s true that this forum is not a substitute worldwide welfare system and many of them will need to go away but we don’t need to treat them like shit in the meantime. Save that for the very fluent scammers and conmen stealing from people here. You can say anything you want to someone like Bryan Micon or Josh Zerlan and be justified. Talking shit to a 15 year old kid from Bangladesh probably isn’t the best thing you could be spending your time on.
476  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: February 04, 2018, 02:34:44 PM
I don’t have much Merit to give but I’m going to give it up until it’s all gone. I’m not sure if this is the right section for this thread because I’m not really selling anything. It’s about accounts so I’ll just leave it here until someone decides to move it. I don’t know if this is wrong to do. I don’t care if I get negative trust for doing this because I don’t buy anything here, sell anything here, join signature campaigns or post routinely in threads that even show the trust rating. Essentially I don’t make money here so I don’t use trust anyway.

I felt sorry for SOME of the members that posted in the merit thread. They seemed to be fairly articulate, fairly knowledgeable, rational and really trying to be members of this group of dreamers (community).

Here’s how it’s going to work. You’re not just going to beg for merit and I give it. Do not PM me and offer to pay me for merit points. Your money means nothing to me. I have given away more bitcoin than you will likely earn while on this forum (just ask Gleb Gamow if you don’t believe me). I will report you to a mod that will give you negative trust for being a potential scammer. You will ask me to research your post history and direct me to 10-20 posts that you believe show you have a deep desire to learn about, use, and support bitcoin. I will then ask you a couple of questions about how bitcoin works and you will answer them. I don’t care if you take some time to research the answer if you come up with the correct answer. That just means I’ve made you learn more about bitcoin than you knew previously.

Bitcoin does not mean altcoin. I know altcoins are more popular on this forum than bitcoin. I don’t care. I will only help bitcoiners level up. If most of your post history is in altcoin threads I won’t help you. I do not consider Bitcoin Cash to be bitcoin. If you don’t know what the real bitcoin is then you haven’t been here long enough for me to help you. Which leads me to the group I’m willing to help.

Rank                  Required activity            Required merit
Brand new                    0                            0
Newbie                         1                            0

Hero Member              480                           500

New members, Newbies, Jr Members and Members don’t need any merit. They don’t have enough post history to judge so I won’t be helping them.

Full members, Sr. Members and Hero Members really got screwed with the merit system. Some of them were really close to leveling up and now have to wait until they’ve impressed the right person to probably get only one merit point from them. The most extreme case of this is Hero Member. They may need hundreds of merit points to level up which could take a very long time to get.

You will be working for 20 merit points. Good luck to all. I will announce when they’re gone and lock the thread.

agree that the system is probably not finalized and maybe it will bear fruit after a certain period of time, but many are not able even to wait and go to other workarounds even in this system, I do not at all like to generalize
but I can only say that the problem of spammers and people who pumped their accounts in old, long-forgotten branches is a problem that had to be dealt with, that's why the higher administration had to do something

I agree, not all have provided, but maybe in time this system will be redesigned and will give the opportunity to pumped through to the younger forum participants, well, or I hope for a bright future that will not be

I'm glad that not everyone is ready to make money on this system and you are ready to share your merits with those who really need it

Very nice, thanks for stopping by.

478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's future road on: February 04, 2018, 05:19:29 AM
Vitalik Buterin and Peter Thiel are the devil. Their product is essentially still vaporware. They still have security problems with the smart contracts. Their entire system crashed down around their feet during their second convention. They are going to switch from PoW to PoS because they can’t figure out how to scale their network. I guarantee they’ll fuck it up. It won’t even be pseudo-anonymous, digital identities will take over in a DApp. No one will transact without one.

The worst part about ethereum is the only thing it has going for it. It has a decentralized blockchain but it’s sucking the teet of big business. Forks can be the death knell of a business conscious blockchain claiming to secure important contracts “forever”. When fork-less NEO takes hold, watch ethereum support dissipate into the ether.

What’s with Vitalik Buterin being so skinny? Is he HIV positive or what? Is it because he’s a 24 year old kid from Russia and is used to not having enough food at home? Somebody please buy that fucking kid a sandwich.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only 21.000.000 Bitcoins in existance on: February 03, 2018, 07:58:03 PM
Guys I would like to remember everyone that there are only 21.000.000 Bitcoins in existence around 3 to 4 mil bitcoins are lost permanently. This means that we will have 16 mil bitcoins. Now the twist. 1 small country can buy all the bitcoins. The media has to fud to bring the prices down. They are really worried about Bitcoin and they can't shut it down. Just like skynet.  Grin They will tax it but they can't shut it down.

Really I am having a blast when talking to people about Bitcoin. So many are still skeptical out of 5 only 1 buys. Yes, the market has to correct sometimes. Some are angry at me that they bought in December but they are not seeing the bigger picture. The whales are lacking the tools to properly bring the market down in my opinion. The more people that buy Bitcoin today and hold the more power the whales will lose and they must buy from miners to obtain more bitcoins then.

We can even make our own prices if all miners agreed to sell 10k only price will be 10k. 100k only 100k.  Wink

Corrections are part of this path but we will seek higher heights. 50k+ easy this year.

Satoshi saw a couple of problems with internet finance and sought out one solution using cryptographic security. He wanted to create a “cash” or currency that in the source code he called “coins” capable of making internet payments when two parties don’t know or trust each other. He said, “Commerce on the Internet has come to rely almost exclusively on financial institutions serving as trusted third parties to process electronic payments.”

He wanted to remove any doubt that the transaction will fail. In other words, he saw transaction reversal as a big problem on the internet. He said, “Completely non-reversible transactions are not really possible, since financial institutions cannot avoid mediating disputes.”

He wanted to allow people transacting business on the internet to keep their personal information as private as possible. He said, “Merchants must be wary of their customers, hassling them for more information than they would otherwise need.”

He saw the current trusted third party financial system that is used to make internet payments as a wasteful step that costs too much. He said, “A certain percentage of fraud is accepted as unavoidable. These costs and payment uncertainties can be avoided in person by using physical currency, but no mechanism exists to make payments over a communications channel (the internet) without a trusted party.”

He chose to create a fixed quantity of only 2.1 quadrillion individual units because that was believed to be enough to absorb the global M1 money supply. He said, “Once a predetermined number of coins have entered circulation, the incentive can transition entirely to transaction fees and be completely inflation free.”

He clearly didn’t anticipate many of the problems associated with making a currency. Deflation creates its own problems but he wanted a deflationary currency. He wanted businesses to stop being ripped off but created the opposite and made a currency that will allow businesses to steal from their customers. These things may be wrong but they are bitcoin and to use bitcoin you must accept them. The only alternative is to make your own “coin” and plenty of people have done that. Go find one that suits you instead of trying to change bitcoin.

480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks ready to accept crypto currencies but says no to bitcoin on: February 03, 2018, 05:30:18 PM
I don’t know why buckies cares anyway. They won’t really accept any crypto especially not bitcoin. BitPay accepts bitcoin these businesses don’t. The only reason any company accepts bitcoin right now is because they immediately give the btc to one of the off-book exchanges, like BitPay, and exchange the btc for fiat.

BTW: If a global company with the annual revenue of Starbucks starts taking Litecoin and not bitcoin, LTC value is going to blow bitcoin away quickly. I’ve been saying for a long time that bitcoin has become nothing more than a day traders play toy anyway. Starbucks sees that too.
