4601  Economy / Economics / Re: i can proof my economy knowldege anyone who critizsed me i have good question on: September 04, 2020, 10:19:12 PM
do you guys know how they know what ammount is right ammount and how they calculate this?
if banks need to add money into economy there is exacly numbers what they multyply to get exaccly ammount will be injected in to economy....i just want to see if anyone here knows this?
First of all, what you wrote above isn't even clear.  It's not a question I can answer because I'm not at all sure what exactly you're asking.  Maybe that's why you've been getting the criticism you mentioned--you're obviously not writing in your first language and your thoughts aren't coming across in a coherent manner.  Hell, you could be the the banking king in whatever country you're from, but you'd never be able to tell from your writings.

i cant belive i really share this info for free here again and again.
<snip>
and this is just the dip of the iceberg what i know Smiley
Since no one outside someone living in a psychiatric institute would pay you for your "knowledge" you might as well just stop sharing it.  It's obvious you feel you're underappreciated.  The fact is that your posts are almost incoherent.

What part of an iceberg is the dip, anyway?
4602  Other / Meta / Re: Legendaries need love as well. on: September 04, 2020, 09:00:13 PM
Also on the antipharma aspect, I think a lot of drugs are overprescribed or cause other problems.
Oh, I'd love to discuss that--but I'm not a member of this forum to chat with people about those sorts of issues.  I'm here to talk and learn about bitcoin (and crypto in general).  Unfortunately I spend so much time on bitcointalk that I don't think I'd have much time left to contribute to even one other forum.  Oh well.

Sometimes I had such thoughts as well, some legendaries are not receiving enough merits just because they had no more rank to reach so it is important to add one more rank to bring the race towards merits or legendaries should not worry about their merits anymore just be themselves forever?!
I'm not quite sure what you're saying as a whole here, but I really wish Theymos would add a rank above Legendary (or restructure the ranking system entirely--a complete overhaul wouldn't be too bad IMO).  Then again, I've said this before:  the number of Legendary members is probably going to shrink over time, as older ones drop out via attrition and new ones are made at an extremely low rate.  In a few years, you might not see a lot of Legendaries posting on bitcointalk, but we'll see.
4603  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Alert - Ponzi Scheme offering 156% return just in 30 days - Definwallet on: September 04, 2020, 07:36:57 PM
From the ANN thread:

Quote
The more deposit you add, the more your earning rate increases.

Is that supposed to mean that the actual rate of interest increases the more you deposit, or that you earn more interest with more deposited money?  That's actually common with bank deposit products, but given how sorta-sloppily the ANN OP post was written, it makes me wonder if they mean what the words imply.

Anyway, here's another example of (apparent) scammers latching on to the DeFi craze that's in the making.  This certainly sounds too good to be true, which means it's probably just a Ponzi scheme.  We're going to see so many more of these schemes until either DeFi fails as a whole (like ICO projects did) or DeFi becomes legitimate and organized.  It'll be interesting to see which of those transpires.

Good catch, OP.
4604  Other / Meta / Re: Legendaries need love as well. on: September 04, 2020, 06:26:19 PM
Maybe I will just slip in a few Knights Templar and the origins of Unicorns threads on the way.
Do whatever feels right to you, Jet Cash--I always enjoy reading your posts regardless of what they're about.

And yeah, I've slowed down a lot on the merit-earning myself, but I don't care one whit.  If there was a rank above Legendary that I could be striving for, then I might be more interested in earning them but there isn't.  Nor am I trying to compete with anyone else with respect to merits.  In fact, I'd prefer someone give a lower-ranked member some merits instead of me if it came down to a choice between the two.

I for one do agree with a lot of your personal points of view concerning the Covid hype. It's just that I don't see any reason why I would come to the Bitcointalk forum to discuss other stuff except for crypto stuff.
All of that stuff--COVID-19, the upcoming US election, and everything aside from bitcoin or altcoins should be relegated to the Off-Topic and P&S sections.  I don't post in Ivory Tower or Serious Discussion, because the crypto discussions there are usually over my head and everything else is non-crypto stuff that I don't care to share my opinions about.
4605  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I want to share one very ugly and stressful expiriance that includes bitcoin. on: September 03, 2020, 07:37:04 PM
Trough Instagram I met one dude that provide certain services I meant are legit. Cost of those services are 50euros (don't have euro sign on keyboard...)  He told me I need to send him those 50euros on blockchain and all that so he can buy some engine that can generate bitcoins and make me back 1000$.
I stopped reading here for a minute. "Send me $50, I will give you $1,000" .. How did you really believe this?
Yeah, it's not something the average adult would fall for, but OP sounds very young and might not have developed the thick, calloused shell that comes with time and having been taken advantage of by predators.  I think most bitcointalk members have that kind of shell, but it's hit-or-miss with newbies.

I was waiting and then email arived, where it said I need to pay fee of 110 euros so that money can be released, texted him he said he can't do nothing about that
I don't now if it was because you couldn't afford to send him that 100 euros or realized that this was the second part of the scam, but kudos to you for not doing it.  And you might not realize it, but that request of "send me $X so that I can send you $X+Y" is a dead giveaway that you're dealing with a scammer.  Don't ever fall for that trick, and hopefully you've also learned that 1) you're not going to get something for nothing, 2) scammers are everywhere in the world of bitcoin, and 3) if something sounds too good to be true, it's not true.

Sorry you got scammed, bro.
4606  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Official] FreeBitcoins.com BitcoinTalk Directory (Tor Friendly) on: September 03, 2020, 07:27:21 PM
OK, sweet.  And I don't know if you want me e-mailing you any suggestions or whatever, but this is the reason why the stickers should be bigger and more eye-catching (at least for my current purposes):

And assuming that this particular sticker doesn't get scraped off, we'll see how waterproof it really is.  Hopefully the suface won't be affected by water, but I'm wondering about the adhesive and the metal it's stuck to.  We'll consider it an experiment in progress!

Also, thanks for considering gridcoin.  I didn't mention it because I own a lot of it and am trying to hype it up--far from it; right now I think I own about 20 GRC, which is currently worth less than $0.20.
4607  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Current Shipping Time and Carrier? on: September 03, 2020, 06:24:35 PM
If someone steals it, they have to replace it. What are you scared of? Theft? Manipulation?
OP is an extreme worry-wart (no offense, jerry0), so he's probably concerned with all of that and more.

I ordered both my Ledger S and X from Amazon, and I didn't have to sign for either one--but that's probably not an answer OP cares about.  However, signature confirmation isn't usually required by businesses unless the item being shipped has a very high value and they want to ensure that a human being (and presumably the right one) took possession of it.  I seriously doubt Ledger would ship their products with signature confirmation required.

Also, I didn't know they were all shipped from France.  Interesting.
4608  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Official] FreeBitcoins.com BitcoinTalk Directory - Faucet & Altcoin Exchange! on: September 03, 2020, 04:07:57 AM
I couldn't resist posting this pic:

And hey, do you know anything about Gridcoin?  I don't know if this is the right place to be suggesting coins for the faucet, but if you look at how you can generate GRC, it's pretty cool.  You're basically sharing your computing power with some scientific projects that need that extra power.

It's a PoS coin on top of that, so it can be staked to earn more.  Seems strange to me that it hasn't gotten more attention.  The only problem is that you don't earn a lot of GRC when you're pool mining, but I think it's still a really cool project and coin.

4609  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk posting etiquette on: September 03, 2020, 03:54:37 AM
Sure, I agree with you @TheBeardedBaby.
I do too, though I'm sometimes guilty of blabbering on--and it isn't because I'm counting characters for a sig campaign (like many users do) but because I have some sort of polygraphia disorder that makes me want to write.  Lately I've seen some really long posts that could have used a TL;DR at the end, but including one requires the poster to have some consideration for their readers....and that usually just doesn't happen a lot on bitcointalk.

it's a forum not a newspaper...
Just as an aside, if you can ever take a look at a newspaper from the late 1800s you might be astounded by how bloated the writing was, and news articles were often enormous blocks of text.  I'm glad people figured out how to format articles/posts/etc. such that they can be read easily.

One more thing:  gentlemand is a master at writing witty and very concise posts.  I wish I had half his talent.
4610  Economy / Reputation / Re: Flag suchmoon ,he is a communist supporting communist ideology on: September 03, 2020, 12:00:57 AM
"Freedom of speech" does not equal "you're free to say whatever you like
Personally I like the concept (or wording) of "protected speech" vs. "free speech", because it's obvious at a moment's thought that the only speech that would need protecting would be that which goes against what the majority thinks, or that which would offend people.  Either way, I'm now just thinking spy100 is just a troll and doesn't take any of this political stuff seriously.

I have seen SM take stances that would probably get her 'cancelled' by the mob if she was a public figure
Thank goodness we don't have that cancel culture shit going on here on bitcointalk.  I only cancel shitposters who can't write legible sentences by hitting the ignore button, but I (and many forum members) are pretty tolerant of many viewpoints.  Hell, in the end it should be all about bitcoin anyway, but some people can't help but put politics (including identity politics) before anything else in life.  I can't imagine living that way.
4611  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Robinhood facing SEC investigation over dealings with trading shops on: September 02, 2020, 09:57:47 PM
They will pay fines and keep working.
Sure, but it doesn't sound like any kind of earth-shattering infraction on Robinhood's part, else the proposed fine wouldn't be so low.  That "order flow" information piece that Robinhood makes money from is the main reason other online brokers now don't charge commissions on trades, so I personally have nothing against them.

There are probably a lot of millennials on here who've just gotten started in trading crypto/stocks, and they might not remember a time when it cost at least $7-8 to place a trade with a broker like E-Trade or Scottrade (now TD Ameritrade).  And it was waaay worse years before that when you had to pay a commission that was a pretty high percentage of your trade amount.  Somehow Robinhood came along and now I can buy stocks with no commission--that's like a wet dream for someone like me who can't afford to waste money on commissions.

It's too bad Robinhood doesn't let customers deposit crypto into their accounts as if it was cash.  They advertise that you can buy and sell bitcoin on their platform, but you're really not owning any of it and I wish it wasn't that way.  Pretty sure the US government doesn't want Robinhood to become a money laundering site and thus won't allow them to do that.
4612  Economy / Reputation / Re: Thread starter deleted my post because project can't prove their legitimacy? on: September 02, 2020, 08:01:08 PM
It is true that he is probably just hired to make their ANN thread, but he still has  responsibility towards bitcointalk members, not just the company that hired him so he shouldn't just delete legit questions, no matter what bfine tells him to do. That is, if he cares about his reputation here.
Plus he's effectively the face of that project on bitcointalk, and a neg on him is one that members will definitely see.

I think cheezcarls had some legitimate concerns that shouldn't have been deleted, and it's a big red flag in my mind that they were.

All I am seeing is bounches of newbies are posting, "Yes sir", "Good project" in the thread.
Of course, that's standard practice for ANN & bounty threads, right?  That's a separate issue altogether, though.

"Please note that binary commission maximum of income of 300% and after reaching the maximum binary income, you need to reinvest to continue to earn a binary commission."
That sounds like a load of mumbo-jumbo to me, and it's probably designed to obfuscate the real meaning, within which lies the method that they're going to scam you.  I could be wrong, but if anyone can explain what the above statement means, I'm all ears.

I smell potential ponzi here. Hmmm......
Me too.  And I learned from the ICO days that projects like these should be considered scams until they're proven otherwise.
4613  Other / Meta / Re: Is it time to have a Corona virus sub-board? on: September 02, 2020, 06:15:00 PM
sub-board: covid-19 boring.
Yeah, that would be my vote.  But seriously, no I don't think we need a coronavirus/COVID-19 child board.  Some of the threads in Economics make mention of it, but in those cases it's usually in an appropriate context and most of the threads are at least somewhat interesting.

The debates about conspiracy theories or whether (as Jet Cash mentioned) the government or pharmaceutical companies should be paying for vaccine research should stay in whatever section they're currently in, which is P&S/Off-Topic.  Plus, I don't believe this pandemic is going to be long-lasting (I'm hoping that's the case) and members aren't going to be fixated on it long enough to justify a child board.

Please let me keep my fantasy and continue believing this is just a temporary thing.
I'm pretty sure you're right and it's not a fantasy.  Have the world ever had a reaction to a viral outbreak that's lasted years, where people have to wear face masks and keep distance from one another and not go to work?  I don't think so--and FFS it isn't like COVID-19 is as deadly as ebola or smallpox.  Everyone has lost their heads over this thing, which isn't nearly as bad as its made out to be in the news.
4614  Economy / Economics / Re: "Warren Buffett invests $6 billion in Japan's five biggest trading houses" on: September 02, 2020, 05:08:01 PM
I would have said BTC, but it is out of the picture for Warren Buffet as he considers Bitcoin a speculative asset and he doesn't understand it.
I wouldn't say Buffett doesn't understand bitcoin completely--the man is extremely intelligent, and even if he doesn't understand exactly how bitcoin works, I'm pretty sure he knows what it is, and aside from that he's a value investor who invests in businesses (usually in the form of stocks) that are undervalued.  Bitcoin and anything crypto-related just doesn't fit his style, and I can't fault him for not wanting to break away from what he's been doing for decades.

MicroStrategy has been one of those corporations that have diversified their assets into Bitcoin this year already, with a few others.
Yeah, that's an interesting situation with MSTR and I wouldn't have predicted any big company would have purchased that much bitcoin to keep as their cash reserve.  They're really taking a risk by doing that, but their shareholders obviously don't seem to mind since MSTR's stock price has been headed upwards.  On the other hand, if there were any objections by shareholders, that could come up as an issue at their next annual meeting.

To me personally it's kind of depressing to see Warren Buffett moving money into Japan.  More often than not, he knows exactly what he's doing, and by making such large investments in those Japanese trading houses, he's demonstrating that he thinks things are going to be better over there than in the US--and probably for the long-term, since that's also how he tends to invest.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the US situation doesn't deteriorate to the point where it can't be fixed.
4615  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another korean exchange on spotlight. Bithumb raided by police over fraud on: September 02, 2020, 04:31:59 PM
I read the second link first (the newsasia one), and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how that deal was supposed to go down--but it could be that I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning.

This looks like it's fallout from the ICO and/or IEO craze that ended not too long ago.  Usually after bubbles pop, all the thieves start getting exposed, so that part doesn't surprise me.  It's happened with stock market bubbles many times in the past.

Is this the beginning of the fall of one of South Korea's Largest and oldest exchanges?
Sounds like it, though I'm not too familiar with wash trading penalties in S. Korea, nor does it sound like it was a problem with the exchange itself but with one man.

Are we going to see continued crack down on crypto exchanges in South Korea?
S. Korean regulators are certainly cracking down on exchanges, that much is for sure.  I don't know how many there are based out of that country, but I bet you that the rest of them are under the microscope right now and I'd also bet that more than one or two are starting to sweat (and there's probably some document shredding going on as well).

Interesting developments.  Thanks for posting this info, OP.
4616  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Virtual Miner: Another scam offer from Yobit. on: September 02, 2020, 12:24:11 AM
This Yo token seems to be the most attractive shitcoin in the history. Can you believe that one Yo token costs about 0.06750000 btc according to https://yobit.net/en/trade/YO/BTC But if you look deeper in its trade history, it's clear how bots create fake trades.
Yep, and you know they're doing that for their own benefit, because they use (or have used) YO for some of their schemes, like the investbox function.

All of this shit basically comes down to Yobit wanting you to put your money into a black box and wait for a profit to come out the other end.  If anyone can explain how this virtual miner can legitimately make any investor money, I'd love to hear an explanation, because what I just read in the OP sounded like some magical voodoo witchcraft moneymaking process that was dreamed up by minds that would put Enron's executives to shame.

By the way, I asked this in another thread and I'm not sure if there was a reply.  Is Yobit still paying cryptotalk members to post?
4617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Celebrity Owned TIDAL Purchased $7 Million Worth of Sensorium Social VR Platform on: September 01, 2020, 10:52:19 PM
I think this table below will help understand what is the use case of their token.
You might want to cite the source of that table, else it's a form of plagiarism--I dug further into the link in the OP and found it at https://sensoriumxr.com/senso-token.  Just include that in your post.

I do appreciate the info, and I probably shouldn't have been so lazy to not click on the links.  Not that I completely understand the business of VR entertainment(?).  I'm a Gen X'er who hasn't exactly kept up on these new-fangled technotainment products or how they're involved with cryptocurrency, so I apologize for my ignorance and sloth.

The $7M amount is really not big if you are talking with known artists being involved. Even one of them can shell out that amount easily.
Hey, that's what I said!
4618  Economy / Reputation / Re: Give this user an attention on: September 01, 2020, 09:14:23 PM
Is posting unrelated to economics in any way not trolling? though you're a long time member of the forum?
I might have been here a long time, but I'm not a moderator; I'm not Theymos; this forum has "unofficial" rules that poorly define trolling; and the offense of trolling is inconsistently punished by the mods.

And I read most of that dude's posts, and I do in fact think they lean more toward trolling than not--but I can't help but look at crap like that the way the forum does, which is in a manner that is extremely tolerant of speech.  Offensive speech isn't censored here (usually).  It's only when someone goes way overboard and makes a very high/very frequent amount of extremely offensive posts that they'll get banned--and even then nothing is certain.  Cryptohunter and his alts got away with tons of shit for over a year at least with no sanctions.

I must have overlooked it.
You overlooked my extremely high-quality, well thought out masterpiece of a post on a forum with thousands of new posts being made every hour?  I find that very offensive, and I've reported your post.  [/joke]

Do us a favor and lock this thread before you go?  And as a second favor, could you please stick to your word:

4620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Celebrity Owned TIDAL Purchased $7 Million Worth of Sensorium Social VR Platform on: September 01, 2020, 08:51:09 PM
Alright, I read that article and I just don't understand what the function of the token is, and it didn't even get that much of a mention aside from the intro paragraph.  What is the token supposed to do for the celebrities and their virtual reality rave party plans?  Is it going to be like an admission ticket?  If that's the case, is a new token even necessary?

I don't know.  This all sounds like hyped up horse shit to me, but perhaps my attitude is biased by the fact that I don't listen to any of those artists.  However, did I miss a crucial fact about the importance of cryptocurrency to this plan except for the fact that TIDAL bought $7 million worth of SENSO tokens?

That amount is peanuts for a group of musicians/celebs like the ones listed.  It would be peanuts for any single one of them, in fact.
