4601  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is below $6000 due to corona virus panic, what's next? on: March 12, 2020, 04:54:14 PM
According to this news : https://cointelegraph.com/news/breaking-bitcoin-crashes-17-in-1-hour-below-6k-in-coronavirus-panic

Quote
BREAKING: Bitcoin Crashes 17% in 1 Hour Below $6K in Coronavirus Panic

What do you think would happen next, will bitcoin continue to crash and we might be back to $3000 again?
And what could be the reason to stop this bleeding?

@Kasabus at this moment everything is crashing be it the stock market or the crypto market, so there’s not much we can do except hodl our stocks and crypto’s and wait for better days. Also there’s no specific answer to this question as people would be divided on answering it, and I’ll be really surprised if we can find a universally accepted answer to this question. Furthermore in my personal opinion if more countries lock themselves out then yes I do see bitcoin prices falling down, and again we can’t do anything about it except hodl and wait.

One person of the Mclaren team has been found positive, the team retired themself for the GP.

Is too early to know who and if other teams will be retire/GP will be canceled.

@coinlocket$ as per the available news online the race is yet scheduled to take place despite the positive result of the Mclaren staff member, and it’s worth mentioning that the drivers are not at all happy with this decision. Furthermore Vettel has given a statement where he says that if more people got infected then the drivers would try and get the race canceled, and even Hamilton has slammed the organisers for not cancelling this race. While I understand that the organisers would loose lots of money if this race gets canceled, but is money more important than spectators and drivers life in my personal opinion it’s not and they should cancel this race asap?.

4603  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WHO declared corona outbreak as Pandemic! on: March 12, 2020, 09:41:31 AM
This virus is not as dangerous as many people think. Mortality from coronavirus is about 3-5%, and mortality from the ordinary flu is about 0.5%. But it is important to understand that, according to statistics, 90% of coronavirus deaths are old people who have poor immunity. Therefore, if you are a middle-aged person, if you lead a more or less glorious lifestyle, then even if you become infected with this virus, you will most likely recover.

You're right! I just noticed that there were many bigger pandemics those killed tens of millions of people in the past. Corona virus has high spreading ratio and speed, but not really dangerous. Over 50% infected people over the world have recovered and only 3.7% died. We just need to be careful but not panic.

If it's an order of magnitude more deadly than flu, and it is also more readily transmissible, then it should be considered a serious threat.

The basic reproduction number (R0), is the average number of other people that someone with a virus will themselves infect. The R0 for coronavirus isn't yet fully determined, but does appear to be around 2-3, which is considerably higher than normal flu. You're right that panic is counter-productive, but this is a big threat and should be treated as such.

@josephsonand I’ll second that as many people now, are recovering after first testing positive for COVID-19  which  only means that people are being fooled into believing that once a person gets this virus he’s certain to die. @Cnut237 there’s no doubt that this virus is a grave threat but people need to understand that not all will die if they get infected, because with proper care this virus threat can be eliminated from the infected persons body.

What do guys think about this article.- Coronavirus scare: Plea in Madras HC against IPL 2020, Karnataka government seeks advice on matches in Bengaluru. Source

I do not think it is possible to postpone IPL. I think they might not allow spectators to come to the stadium.

If it is to be true, I think it's better to postpone the IPL, why not. Otherwise, this season, IPL will face a huge loss. There is nothing wrong in postponing the season, may be it will be hard to get a schedule later but still it is better than facing a loss.

@pakhittheboss my Indian friends have informed me that the virus is spreading really fast out there, and BCCI has two options out in their hands i.e. one allow spectators inside and sanitise them or play the match behind closed doors and let people watch it live from their homes. @Little Mouse don’t worry the IPL won’t be postponed under any scenario because BCCI loves money, and they’ll do everything in their power to keep the league alive but we will have to wait for few more days to see what solution do they come up with.

I ended up backing PSG like I said earlier, plus i skipped the BTTS on the other game and went with corners...Winner, winner  Smiley

But man, the best team in the world in the last 2 years is out of the Champions League in the Round of 16!  Shocked Shocked  Both finalists of the last CL are out!
Btw, what were the odds for Atletico to Qualify? Does anyone know?

They do not deserve the win man!

I think that'd would be unfair to them, really.
<...>
Gotta agree with @Harko on this one. Atletico deserved to go through.

I can totally understand why football fans (especially Liverpool fans) are upset about Atletico going through, I mean, they don't do much other than defend and defend (I see them every week in La Liga and it's the same bullshit lol), but credit where it's due, today the spaniards defended that siege with sweat and blood, they where effective in front of goal and made no mistakes throughout the whole game, 100% focused.
Liverpool, on the other hand, wasted countless of chances (well, not exactly "wasted", Atletico have one of the best GK's in the world, Oblak, who was easily the MVP of the match), and had a couple of brainfarts on the defence which ended up being crucial.
The best team tonight didn't qualify to the next stage, but surely the most hard-working and effective one did.

Btw, Liverpool with Henderson on the pitch is a whole different team, holy crap, this was Liverpool's best performance in a long time.

@tomahawk9 first of all congratulations on winning your bet, and secondly how I wish I too had followed my heart and placed a bet on Atletico Madrid to win their match against Liverpool. Further I’m not sure why people are not giving credit to Atletico as they put in one of the best defensive performance against Liverpool, and in my personal opinion they deserved to progress to the next round.

Who's going to the Vietnam Grand Prix?

https://twitter.com/Stake/status/1232509053030617088

I wont hope too much for this raffle because I have few tickets only (12 so far) but I will wait for miracle only to win one of the prizes Wink
No body knows who will win and no body knows about when the luck will come to us. At least I wont force myself to wager more and more to get more tickets.
Will be there something like consolation prize like the previous Christmas raffle where players still get some satoshis based on the number of tickets?

@panjul07 I’m definitely not going because I was unable to collect a single ticket, and I sincerely hope next time when such a raffle is announced I’ll be ready to participate in it. Also don’t give up who knows you may actually win something, and as far as the consolation prices are concerned we will have to wait and find out as there’s no announcement yet from Stake.
4608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Frances as of this year. on: March 10, 2020, 01:47:06 PM
the main significance of this news is that they are now recognizing bitcoin as a legal currency which is the main goal. unlike some other countries that see bitcoin as a legal "asset", "security", and other weird things like that to tax it more, some other countries such as France and Japan (and i think at least 3 others) consider it a currency.
Well, I think it's a big step, then! If Bitcoin's currency there, does it mean that there're no special taxes on it, and it is in an equal position with EUR?

logically that should be the next move although i haven't seen anything in the news regarding how they are going to define the tax laws about bitcoin.
but in any case the most important thing is that it increases the legitimacy of bitcoin as a currency specially in a world where there is a ton of FUD about bitcoin every day.

@pooya87 indeed very few countries consider bitcoin as a legal currency yet, and I’m delighted to know that France has declared bitcoins as a legal tender out there. Furthermore there was a update regarding Bitcoins tax status few months ago announced by Bruno Le Maire, the French minister for the economy:

Quote

Bruno Le Maire, the French minister for the economy, has revealed that the government will not be imposing taxes on crypto-to-crypto trades. The policymaker made his statement in an interview with Bloomberg on September 12, 2019, stating that they will only be taxing cryptocurrency gains when they are converted into fiat.

https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2020/02/btc-hold-trend-line-decline
Is Bitcoin likely to keep going down, in your opinion? Are you selling/buying it?
Declining is over for because now we are getting stable at $9k level
but there might be some correction again in the next weeks or months as we’re getting closer to the biggest event in crypto history and this is the Miners Halving.
and also there is no reason  why decline needs to happen when even the Corona Virus did not make the market fall that hard?i think it is much better to make a thread regarding the new growth of Bitcoin soon.

Bitcoin is getting on 9$k and I think this price now is stable so its been nice to buy bitcoin while the price is low. I think its good to buy some bitcoin and wait for another huge of bitcoin until reach the good price. I think corona virus is not so much affect the crypto.

@Lecam where did you see that bitcoin prices were trading at $9k levels? because bitcoin prices are fluctuating between $7800 -7900 levels on preev and it’ll take at least few days to recover back to $9k levels. Also you’re wrong as Coronavirus had a direct and indirect impact on bitcoin prices, and if this virus is not controlled soon then we will witness further decline in bitcoin prices.

I hope everyone is aware of the Libra coin that is going to be launched by Facebook, and I’m sure you’ll also remember that they were facing lots of regulatory hurdle in getting approval for it. However now it seems that they have managed to find a way to get approval for it by allowing governments fiat alongside the Libra coin, and in my personal opinion this will eliminate the hype surrounding the Libra coin. After a long time, Ethereum price increased well but it seems they failed to keep the high zone for a long time. Today Ethereum price decreased more than 25$ and it continues. Just seen an article that Ethereum price may come to 230 to 210$, so, if that happens then under 200$ is not that far!

Yes, of course the price of Ethereum will break $ 200.
Precisely yesterday the 9th Ethereum has broken through to $ 191

@RDNX you’re correct as Ethereum prices did break the $200 levels yesterday, but they also recovered and moved back to $200 levels. PSG vs Dortmund is going to be an amazing match. Even with Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland, I'm banking on PSG to reach the quarter-finals on their home turf. I'm betting on PSG.

@smithjsun1 PSG vs Dortmund will be a very tough match, and I am yet unable to decide on whom to place a bet as both the teams look equal to me. It’s pertinent to note that both the teams will have to play this match behind closed doors, which will mean that PSG won’t have the home crowd support behind them to boost their confidence. Also PSG quarter finals record is really poor so I won’t be surprised if they’re dumped once more, and if that happens then Tuchel their head coach will be immediately sacked.

@Spendulus the very first step to help would be is to wash one’s hand constantly, and second would be to wear a mask whenever you’re travelling outside. Third and most important step is to avoid spreading rumours, and only share verifiable information with your loved ones. Last and the most important step would be is to offer them hope that they’ll recover soon from this, even though there’s no precise cure for this but there’s a possibility that people may recover hence we should help them stay strong during this phase.

8th March 2020: Here are the results for the games today

- Chelsea trash Everton 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. A sad return for ex-Chelsea manager Ancelotti who is now manager of Everton but an excellent day for Lampard.
- Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-0 and have beaten them twice in the premier league this season and three times this season in total.

@JollyGood I’m surprised that Chelsea won so easily against Everton, as I was expecting Ancelotti side to offer more resistance but they simply surrendered the match right from the start and were deservedly thrashed. Further Manchester United playing style surprised Pep who was not expecting such quality from Manutd and credit for this goes to Bruno, as it’s because of him that the entire team is reinvigorated. It’s also worth mentioning that the finishes from Martial and Mctominay were simply brilliant, and hopefully now Manchester United will end the season at the number four spot in the league.

So Manchester United beat Manchester City home and away this season. That's a nice feat. To think Man Utd made it easier for Liverpool's title run. Aside from Man City's outstanding game, We're 25 points clear on top of the table with only 9 games to go! (27 - 25 = 2 Points, haha). Truth is, whether or not City wins their outstanding game, We just need only 2 wins to be crowned 👑 the 2019/2020 EPL Champions!

This is a strange thing for Manchester United. They are always strong when facing large opponents such as Manchester City. And if the fight with the team below them, the possibility of losing will be greater. But with the victory of Manchester United they certainly want to also be included in the UCL zone next season. And for Liverpool it is certain to be a champion this season.

Lol, to be honest just as you mentioned, alot of stuffs are strange about manchester united, but beating chelsea or city or the top teams is not one of them.
And rightly, manchester united only struggle against low blocks, which is why the purchase of Bruno was much needed, likewise the re appearance of Pogba in the team.

It is a well deserved victory for United, and i am well pleased

Manchester United won the match thanks to the brilliance of Bruno, Martial and Mctominay, and I’m pretty sure that Pep will be livid at Ederson for allowing those goals to go through. @ampere Manchester United is in a transition phase and yes they’re having a hard time beating bottom teams, but it finally looks like Ole’s philosophy is working and soon they’ll be able to beat all teams irrespective of their ranking in the league.

You might want to read posts again..
Smith is not a world class batsman yet in my option as well because he is lacking some techniques while batting but he managed to score runs with his batting skills, still he was tested with strategies and got failed as well.

You need to rethink about your statement as he is one of best batsman in recent time because he is producing runs and giving very good results to his team which are helping them a lot Aussies are mostly done many strategies and they keep doing because they have really amazing system and good things to increase performance.
Scoring not alone makes them best batsmen, their techniques and range of shots.

Okay lets take Sehwag and Dravid as an example,Sehwag scores more runs than dravid on most of the matches but based on techniques Dravid is most stronger than Sehwag so now who you will say as best batsmen?
For me Sehwag is match winner and Dravid is not like this as technique not going to work every time you need to score runs for win and this not need any technique these runs can came from any where we have many batsmen those was technically not good but give good runs and results.

You can also compare him with Sachin, he is the number one batsman in the world till now. He did not have a technique like Dravid but still was a match-winner most of the time. I never heard Dravid being called as a match-winner but a wall to hold middle order. Technique do not work when you play cricket nowadays. It is always the presence of mind and choosing the write short at the write time.

No one can play drives better than Sachin as far as I know,so calling him as weak on his technique is not the right statement.

Dravid is not the match winner but we can compare his job with the recent India and NZ test series, most players were capable of scoring runs but no one holds the wickets in the middle order that is why everyone got failed.

I feel you guys are wrong in comparing Sachin and Smith as both have different styles of batting, and Sachin was definitely a great batsman when he was playing, and today Smith is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen in the world. Also Dravid was given a specific role i.e. he had to frustrate the bowlers while other batsmen scored runs, and had he not done that then Sehwag and Sachin would never have been able to score runs as wickets would have kept falling on the other side of the pitch.

As a Barca fan I'm torn. Of course I'm happy we won, and happy Messi added yet another goal to his tally.

But you know, with teams that desperately need to change, sometimes we need to suffer deep and proper to truly change. How do you argue when you keep winning, right?

I'm considering even if maybe we need to not win anything this season to get the shock we need. But we will probably win something!

@slaman29 Barcelona performances are only going down the drain under Setien, and I won’t be surprised if they sack him at the end of the season. In my personal opinion if Barcelona do not win the La Liga or the Champions League then this season shall be considered a disappointment by the board, and the team and maybe this will finally expedite the transfer of Neymar to Barcelona.

Another whitewash, South Africans are back. They won by 6 wickets with 27 balls still left. Australian bowlers were struggling to get wicket and stop the run chase. The target was not at all big for the South Africans to chase. Overall a good match

It was quite unexpected. I was expecting a whitewash, but in favor of Australia. But what happened was the opposite of it. Anyway, it was good to see the South Africans beating a big 3 team after a long time. BTW, I don't know what happened to the Australian bowlers such as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. They are the world's best, but they could not perform up to the expectations.

@vishnu.reang I'll second that as none of us saw this coming, and I yet can’t believe it that South Africa has performed so well in this entire series. It’s difficult to say whether the Australian bowlers were tired or simply over confident in this series, but I’m sure they won’t be happy with their performances and will definitely bounce back in the next series. Furthermore I also believe that the Australian selectors will have to make few changes in the team, because such performances cannot be repeated by Australia again.

Also I feel their economy will be badly hit by this quarantine, and what do you’ll think how long will it take for them to recover from this?.
