4641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN clearly mentioned in new PayPal video. Video is on PayPal channel. Link on: September 16, 2014, 07:07:09 PM
LOL it said Bitcoin. They are being cheeky about it. You got to be literally mentally handicaped to not own at least 1 BTC by now. Winter is comming.
..... or not have the funds to purchase a coin, just tried to buy some coinage yesterday and got scammed $50 =/ .
Sorry to hear that man. Was it ironically a PayPal reversal?

I assume someone from PayPal may read this thread. If so let's discuss what you would pay to use BTC with your PayPal account. I would pay up to $1 per transaction for secure, insured storage online. I would want a way of obfuscating my identity during transactions. i would also be interested in automated monthly payments. Something that would pay bills that arrive monthly/yearly.
4642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bangladesh says Bitcoin users could be jailed for up to 12 years on: September 16, 2014, 05:51:42 PM
Sounds like a great place to do business. No wonder their economy is setting the world on fire.  Roll Eyes
4643  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why did bitcoin failed? on: September 16, 2014, 05:48:42 PM
We have heard this all before. Like a million times since 2010 and bitcoin just keeps getting stronger. Why just today I read that the United Way, the worlds largest charity, is now accepting bitcoins and PayPal has a new video stating that bitcoins will be part of their plan.
I just don't know where people get the idea that you can't find places to spend bitcoin? It is the only thing I use to buy online and never fail to find what I want. And it get's easier every day.
4644  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who would you go back to meet in the past? on: September 16, 2014, 05:38:57 PM
I would want to meet a Homo Erectus, perhaps the first species of human (with an unfortunate name). What an adventure that would be. When I looked into it's eyes would I see a person, an animal, or something in between?
4645  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the reason the bitcoin price is not exploding right now? on: September 16, 2014, 04:19:15 PM
Speculation is the reason. IMO. Not many are coming into bitcoin as users right now. They are trying to get rich speculating. Growth comes from utility not from hope.

It's pretty hard to grow when PoW transfers hundreds of millions of dollars from the Bitcoin eco-system, into the pockets of hardware vendors and electric company. Also, the worst thing is even if Bitcoin does manage to grow, the leeching effect of PoW will grow too.

This is obviously going to reduce significantly, in fact Half by 50% in 1.5 yrs and again in 4yrs and so on......... SO it will grow, it seems to be working pretty good, only 4 years ago it was a few cents. Lets wait and see Wink

By the way the incentives is for protection and it is also what attracts thousands to this eco system.
I don't disagree with you guys at all. Bitcoin is disrupting payments world wide, and I don't know how this is going to play out. But I do think that people using bitcoin for payments is a more powerful idea than trading financial instruments that have little connection to any "real" economy.

Hi and welcome. There are other women here, but you can see why they don't mention it much.
4648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost Bitcoin on: September 16, 2014, 02:32:24 PM
Is there a place where we can complain or just ask some help? Just to guide us?

There is absolutely no such thing. No bitcoin dot com, no authority whatsoever. Of course if you come here and complain you may get some sympathy. We all worry about criminality and accidentally sending to the wrong address.
It may seem harsh to have to do your own security. But the fact that no one can really do anything about your transactions IS part of the security.
4649  Other / Off-topic / Re: Paypal is smart! on: September 16, 2014, 02:25:19 PM
The problem for PayPal is that no matter what they say bitcoin is always going to be cheaper, safer, and faster than PayPal. They simply can not compete with the system they have. The inherent properties of an open, distributed, peer-to-peer network make the bitcoin protocol  superior.
4650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost Bitcoin on: September 15, 2014, 05:08:25 PM
And to be clear, there is no central authority in bitcoin. There is no one who can roll back a transfer or tell you something you can't find for yourself on a website like https://blockchain.info/ .
You are solely responsible for doing your own security with bitcoin. Its a sad truth that even the police will be very little help, as they will have no idea what your talking about.
4651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Pay Will Pave the Way for Bitcoin Adoption on: September 15, 2014, 04:59:00 PM
They have already missed the boat with me. I jailbroke my iPhone just to use bitcoin. When that became a hassle I switched to android. Sorry Apple, unles you are going to do something huge with bitcoin, you are kinda done. It's not like allowing btc apps is a big deal, we always knew you would come around.
 Cool
4652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Digital Currency on: September 15, 2014, 04:50:21 PM
I still think BTC is king. The alts, that are not scams, try to fix things that are not problems and offer no new ideas. They are often script kitty versions of Satoshi's code. Only litecoin has any cred that I can see.
4653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And You Say Paypal Will Never Embrace Bitcoin on: September 15, 2014, 03:55:07 PM
I used to say they will never accept BTC, but they are inching closer. It really would be dumb of them to miss the opportunity bitcoin could become. It would involve so little set up on their part and such a tiny risk of capitol.
There are several revenue streams they could exploit. Secure storage of BTC, ability to spend in many new places, legal options in cases of fraud. It could be a money maker for PayPal.
4654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If the bitcoin ledger is available to all.. on: September 15, 2014, 03:31:08 PM
It is also of little value to know the addresses involved in a transaction. One can see that address A sent to address B, but who they are and the reason the transaction happened is unknown. The ledger is basically anonymous.

Now that I live in Wisconsin I am legally required to like cheese.

4656  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jesus and Homosexuality on: September 15, 2014, 03:17:02 PM
To be fair, the Roman bible does state that homosexuality is a sin. Its even as bad as the sin of eating shrimp.
4657  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 12, 2014, 08:29:54 PM
I always think it's weird how easy it is for people to see hypocrisy in the religion of someone else, but then go blind to the hypocrisy within their own beliefs. Take for example "female genital mutilation". Westerners seem so shocked by this practice. But what about circumcision of young boys? It is EXACTLY the same practice, yet because we are used to it no one is offended. Why is it not called male genital mutilation?

It isn't even nearly the same thing! Circumcision is way less harmful than female genital mutilation. Your foreskin isn't that important... really.
Still, the reason why circumcision is so popular at USA is the most funny: To prevent masturbation...

Oh! The Dark Ages! They really insist to stick around!
Doctors used to make the case that male mutilation was for sanitary health reasons. Now that has been shown to be totally untrue. In places where they do it to women they will tell you "it is for sanitary health reasons" or "it prevents masturbation". The reality is that in both cases there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to do it except cultural reasons. Yet we feel the need to tell others that when they do it it's wrong but when we do it its no big deal.
4658  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who wishes they had bought bitcoin when it was $540 or so? on: September 12, 2014, 07:09:30 PM
Next year, you will all be saying, "I wish I hadn't touched bitcoin."

The final capitulation is coming. Do you want to be a bag holder? Cut your losses!

hi fallling Kiss
Oh hi falllling, any predictions? lol
