This post looks like a spin bot:
Reading through some of the posts... I get the impression there is some sort of Google Translate (or similar) at work. Some of the posts have relatively poor grammar and/or "less common" words/phrases used and are actually quite difficult to understand.

In ZB, the handling fee for Bitcoin withdrawal can be as low as 0.0003 to 0.003. I think because the Bitcoin network is still a bit congested, so they all choose higher handling fees. Otherwise, your Bitcoin will not know when it will arrive. I just checked that there are 153,457 unpackaged bitcoins. So if you want to hurry up, please don't fill in such a low handling fee.

Over time, Bitcoin is likely to gain more investor recognition for other reasons. For example, because the total supply of Bitcoin is constant (21 million), it has a good anti-inflation ability compared with a country's French currency. In the long run, the purchasing power of such encrypted currency will be higher and higher. In addition, the supply of Bitcoin is not regulated, but also has many advantages that the French currency does not have.

Note: I suspect that last one was meant to say fiat currency...

But then you get posts like this:
Although the unemployment rate in the United States is declining, the number of retirees eligible for pensions is rising more rapidly. About 10 years ago, the U.S. Department of Labor estimated that there were about 146 million Americans in the normal labor force at that time. Today, the figure is 153 million, an increase of 4.8% over the past decade.

In fact, if you take a moment to understand these phenomena and the final results, it will be a terrible problem. The terrible problem is that the U.S. debt deficit has more than doubled five times since Reagan's departure speech in 1989, reaching a terrible $21.9 trillion on December 29, 2018. Recently, the U.S. approved an expenditure budget of nearly $trillion. Goldman Sachs predicts that the budget deficit in fiscal year 2019 alone will break through the trillion-dollar mark and rise to $21.9 trillion by 2020. A record $1.25 trillion.

In response, Ron Paul, a former Republican presidential candidate, warned the market again a few weeks ago on CNBC that a painful market adjustment was expected, but it was almost impossible to stop it. The U.S. economy is not as strong as Wall Street thinks. The situation may become "ugly" in a year or two at the earliest. "I see trouble in the future. It comes from too much debt and too much spending." According to Ron Paul, "the dollar monetary system is in grave danger, and the dollar seems to be nearing collapse."
Pretty much perfect English... and looks like it has been ripped from a news website or financial blog or something... that "In response" part especially looks terribly out of place.

Additionally, the quote attributed to Ron Paul, "I see trouble in the future. It comes from too much debt and too much spending."... who supposedly "warned the market again a few weeks ago on CNBC"... was actually from July 2018... see: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/13/this-is-the-biggest-bubble-in-the-history-of-mankind-and-its-going-.html

I can't find plagiarism, but it doesn't feel right.
I agree, something just doesn't add up... but it certainly isn't an "open and shut" case of copypasta...

Huh Huh Huh
4682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Received payment enough to be found through address search on: March 04, 2019, 04:49:06 AM
What exactly are you trying to achieve here?
OP has used this option: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md#recovery-with-an-address-database

That is to say, he has created the address database (using the create-address-db.py script that is packaged with btcrecover) from the Bitcoin Core block files... he was wanting to know if that database includes addresses that have received bitcoins... or if you also needed to actually do at least one send for an address to have been put in the database.

As far as I can tell, as noted above, the create-address-db.py script only includes P2PKH addresses, so SegWit addresses (nested or native) won't be included... it also seems to be looking at outputs when searching for addresses, so an address just needs to have received coins at least once for it to be found and added to the btcrecover address database.

This option (address database) is best used when you're unsure of your address(es). If you know what the address is, you're better off doing a direct search for that specific address using the address or MPK as per the instructions in the btcrecover docs. Refer:

One of these four, in order of preference:

i. for Electrum (1.x or 2.x), a copy of your wallet file (a wallet file using Electrum 2.8's new full-file encryption won't work here), or
ii. your master public key (sometimes called an xpub), or
iii. a receiving address that was generated by your wallet from your seed, along with a good estimate of how many addresses you created before the receiving address you'd like to use, or
iv. an "address database". If you don't have i., ii., or iii. from above, please see the Recovery with an Address Database section below.

As shown, MPK > single address > Address DB search. (excluding Electrum wallet option)
4683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to protect your project from investments with a stolen CC? on: March 03, 2019, 10:47:48 PM
How about if the buyer uses a stolen credit card, and a true owner of the credit card makes a chargeback? Is there any way to protect yourself from such chargebacks?
In short... No. If someone gets past all your KYC attempts with a stolen card, and the true owner makes a chargeback, you'll lose. It is the same with "bricks and mortar" stores. The CC companies pass all the "liability" onto the merchants. Sad

Your options are to be VERY strict with the vetting of credit card investors (full KYC including selfies with custom messages and holding ID etc), or simply don't allow people to use CC's to invest and insist on Crypto (or other non-chargeback) payments only.
4684  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Controlling Lightning Wallet BTC Using Electrum on: March 03, 2019, 10:28:46 PM
...On installation, I was given a 24 word seed.

I tried to create the same wallet in electrum to see if i could control the BTC in the Peach lightning wallet through electrum. I tried opening a wallet using all 3 paths (legacy, segwit, Bech32) with the seed...
What were the exact steps you tried? Were you just using "File -> New\Restore -> Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> [ENTER SEED] -> Next"?

or did you explicitly select the "BIP39 seed" option during the wallet setup? Huh

Quote
Can anyone explain why? Do they use different seed words when generating lightning wallets?
Fairly sure it is the "standard" BIP39 wordlist.
4685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Received payment enough to be found through address search on: March 03, 2019, 09:58:09 PM
As long as the address has "received" some coins... it will be recorded on the blockchain, so it should be included in the "btcrecover" database of known addresses.

It does not require that your address was used to send funds in a transaction.

However, do note that it only seems to find P2PKH addresses... it does not seem to look for P2SH, so if your address is a "3"-type address (Nested SegWit for instance), the script will not work.
                        # If this is a P2PKH script (OP_DUP OP_HASH160 PUSH(20) <20 address bytes> OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG)
                        if pkscript_len == 25 and block[offset:offset+3] == b"\x76\xa9\x14" and block[offset+23:offset+25] == b"\x88\xac":
                            # Add the discovered address to the address set
                            address_set.add(block[offset+3:offset+23])

It's almost like there was a script that allowed you to generate "payment proof" posts so you could shill your own HYIP sites and try to scam others.

Do we need to point out that the user's Account# is IDENTICAL in every single post... across ALL of these "totally unrelated" HYIPs? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

4689  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Deposited a transaction while offline, now online and still not there?! on: March 02, 2019, 08:47:13 AM
Either Bitcoin Core hasn't fully downloaded the blockchain, or Armory is struggling somewhere... as it is only showing 228065 blocks... the current blockheight is over 560000 blocks.

To "post your logs"... you will need to use the "File -> Export Log File..." option. Save the .txt file somewhere... then you can open it with a text editor, select ALL of the text and the copy/paste into the "New Paste" textbox at: https://pastebin.com/

Then click the "create a new paste" button... and you should see a "unique" URL in your webbrowser... something like: https://pastebin.com/iCnqThzC

Simply copy/paste that URL into a post here.
4690  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coldcard question on: March 02, 2019, 08:34:13 AM
According to the documentation, Coldcard is indeed a BIP39 wallet. In fact, they tell you to use the "BIP39 seed" option if restoring in Electrum: https://github.com/Coldcard/firmware/blob/master/docs/electrum-usage.md#import-from-seed-words

I'm not exactly sure what they mean by use the xpub next to m/44'/1' here tho: https://github.com/Coldcard/firmware/blob/master/docs/electrum-usage.md#import-from-extended-public-key-xpub

apparently there is an Electrum specific xpub generated when you create the dump summary? Huh

* In public.txt, look for the section labeled "BIP44 / Electrum" and Copy the top xpub value, beside: m/44'/1'
4691  Economy / Reputation / Re: Community opinion on Signature campaign spreadsheets on: March 01, 2019, 10:56:15 PM
Also from the spreadsheet, there is a possible chance to detect scammer for joining the signature campaign with alter accounts.
There are some users who like to search for possible scams or double accounts and this can help the manager.

I voted " yes " because of this:
I believe that since the website is using the bitcointalk platform to advertise their website, that all information regarding the campaign should be made public. This will help the reporters to keep an eye on participants applying for and being accepted into signature campaigns.

I never understood why there is such a fervour amongst some here to try and detect all the so-called "campaign abusers"... when they are not even part of the management of the campaigns... and then I read this:
...
As you may know, some of the managers can gratify the spotter, even if it's only with merit point, I think it's worth the trouble.
So far I did what I just described twice, as most of the time I struggle with remorse for acting like a rat...
If not overused, informing may prove itself useful, not only for the manager himself.

"We're doing it to help the manager/for the good of the forum" Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I am not a fan of regulating companies in telling them how to run their business. They can run it as they see fit, and if they wish to make their private information public they can, and if they don't they shouldn't be forced to.
I agree with this.

Bounty managers do not _have_ to make the spreadsheet public, but it provides a degree of transparency and credibility if they do. All problems that arise from doing so can be resolved on the forum, also in public.
And also this.

Basically, there is no rule (and in my opinion there shouldn't be one) that says a manager should be forced to make spreadsheets public... However, as nutildah mentions, by doing this, they offer a certain level of transparency regarding the campaign and the way it is being managed, which could help protect themselves in the case of any disagreements.

If you don't like the way a manager chooses to conduct their business, then don't do business with them... that's your choice. Just like it is their choice whether or not they choose to make a spreadsheet public (or even have a spreadsheet in the first place!)
4692  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Keepkey Not Detected by Electrum Anymore on: March 01, 2019, 10:08:49 PM
Not necessarily to buy a PC just to get rid with this problem. This is usually the problem on Windows 10 OS on where even on traditional hardware attachments
do experience problem which is most likely on driver issue. If degrading version didnt work then re-installing a new OS should work.If that windows 10 is clone one then better
buy a licensed one rather than buying a new PC.
I wasn't suggesting to buy a whole new PC. That would be complete overkill to fix what is most likely a trivial driver issue! Roll Eyes I was suggesting that he try connecting the KeepKey to a different computer (as the OP already suggested he was going to try Tongue

I will try on another PC. I am wondering if it has to do with where the wallet files are stored?
4693  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coldcard question on: March 01, 2019, 10:02:01 PM
If the addresses being generated are the same, it is most likely because of the way Electrum stores your xpub... and where it "begins" it's derivation from.

This is a somewhat simplified description, but it seems that most BIP39 wallets store the very top level (BIP32 "root") xpub and then use the full m/44'/0'/0'/0 derivation path... Electrum seems to drop down to the "account" level xpub... and then just uses m/0 and m/1 to specify if using receive or change addresses.

Full path: m / purpose' / coin_type' / account' / change / address_index
Electrum: m / purpose' / coin_type' / account' / change / address_index

So, when you ask Electrum to display the xpub for a wallet, it shows the "account" xpub that it has derived and stored in your wallet file.

I don't have a coldcard to test, so this might not be 100% accurate, but this is what Electrum seems to do when you import a BIP39 seed... it doesn't store the seed, but stores and xprv/xpub that isn't the one you'd normally expect it to. So, it is possibly doing something similar with the coldcard import.
4694  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: March 01, 2019, 09:37:50 PM
...but I think there is a problem with the new driver, they find them as an "Unknown device from BioMetrics".
Fairly sure that has happened before... I believe when the Trezor T first came out... SatoshiLabs is using a "free" USB Vendor ID rather than paying for their own Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I went to the "wallet.trezor.io" page and it asked me to install the Trezor Bridge 2.0.25, so I downloaded and installed it... during install it said to disconnect the device, I did... the installer completed and came up with "Start Trezor Bridge" prompt... so I clicked OK.

I went back to the browser and clicked refresh... it said to connect my device, so I did and then Windows 10 popped up a little notification in the corner saying it was setting up "TREZOR".

So, yes... it does indeed sound like you have a driver issue. It is possible that the Trezor Bridge is not running (hence why the device was "unknown". Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Trezor Bridge... and make sure you have the "start Trezor Bridge" option selected... then open the wallet.trezor.io page and connect the device when prompted.
4695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Which wallets support BIP 39 seed? on: March 01, 2019, 08:54:25 PM
iOS is of no use to me, so only Windows and Android preferred. I'm not interested in purchasing any of the hardware wallets as of now as I'm currently looking for better online/offline but smartphone/PC/laptop based options for this. You helped and I'm very thankful for the same, but I want to know that are these Android wallets able to import BIP 39 seed?
Mycelium definitely supports BIP39 seeds... Android version of Electrum does not (the desktop version will let you import BIP39 seeds tho).

Electrum desktop also allows you to create the Offline/Online "air gapped" setup relatively easily... and I think you can use the Electrum Android wallet as the "online" component for creating the unsigned transaction and sending the signed transaction
4696  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96.5 LINUX offline and no won't load db on: March 01, 2019, 08:45:33 PM
It isn't finding your transaction because your Bitcoin Core is not fully synced:
Quote
-INFO  - 10:16:07: (DatabaseBuilder.cpp:134) scanning new blocks from #41192 to #41442
-INFO  - 10:16:07: (BlockchainScanner.cpp:852) scanned from block #41192 to #41442
-INFO  - 10:16:07: (BlockchainScanner.cpp:214) scanned transaction history in 0s
-INFO  - 10:16:07: (lmdb_wrapper.cpp:388) Opening databases...
You're about 520,000 blocks short... Shocked Shocked

Current block height is: 565248

So, until Bitcoin Core has synced up to the block that contains your transaction, Armory will not be able to see this transaction. Consider doing as droark has suggested and manually run bitcoind (or bitcoin-qt)... and make sure that it is fully synced up before starting Armory.
4697  Economy / Reputation / Re: Need DT and Community opinion/advise on the HyperQuant Bounty Campaign on: March 01, 2019, 08:19:36 PM
Looking at the "medium" post (posted back on November 17 2018)... they said they'd be distributing tokens this month following the end of Stage 3:
Stage 4 Tokens for institutional investors, bonus tokens and bounty rewards (Right after the 3rd round)

Stage 3 is listed as: "Stage 3 (20/01/2019–03/02/2019)", yet the "12th week" is listed as "(until 10/02/2019)"
Stage 3 (20/01/2019–03/02/2019)

9th week (until 20/01/2019) — 5 million HQT tokens;
10th week (until 27/01/2019) — 5 million HQT tokens;
11th week (until 03/02/2019) — 5 million HQT tokens.
12th week (until 10/02/2019) — 6 million HQT tokens.

So, the campaign payments should have been happening since 10th Feb. I've randomly checked a couple of addresses listed on the various Bounty spreadsheets (including the OPs ETH Address)... and they seem to be receiving HQT tokens (as per the spreadsheets) over the last few days.

While it is somewhat coincidental that these payments started AFTER this thread was created, honestly, this just looks like a relatively poorly managed campaign and distribution. Communication with the participants should have been a little better than just editing the campaign post with "BOUNTY IS OVER! DISTRIBUTION DATE WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING TDE(TOKEN DISTRIBUTION EVENT)".

Still, at least the tokens got distributed in the end... a lot of these projects end up dying or just being outright scams.

OP, you might as well lock this thread now (click the "lock topic" link in the bottom left corner.)
4698  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: February 28, 2019, 10:40:01 PM
I didn't understand that "randomly selected 20%" thing... I simply connected to the https://beta-wallet.trezor.io and then it said "new update"... so not sure if I was simply one of the lucky 20%? Tongue

I had a wee issue with it updating though. When it said put the device into update mode (disconnect, hold down both buttons and reconnect) it didn't actually do anything after reconnecting. I had to completely refresh the browser and then do the "disconnect/both buttons/reconnect the device" step again to make it recognise the device in bootloader mode.

After that, it went fairly quickly... and didn't wipe the device.
4699  Economy / Reputation / Re: Need DT and Community opinion/advise on the HyperQuant Bounty Campaign on: February 28, 2019, 10:12:56 PM
HyperQuant reserves the right to modify the terms of the campaign including but not limiting to the percentage of bounty channels allocation.
If they wrote "Rewards will be reduced if X campaign gets less than X numbers of participants" then we would agree with them. But they did not and their statement can be interpreted in a few ways and because of their bounty manager's mistake during the campaign and a few scammers, the team is denying the rightful amount of payment to those who deserve.

There is basically one way to interpret their statement... here, I will translate into plain english: "We can do whatever we like"

That is the exact meaning of "HyperQuant reserves the right to modify the terms of the campaign". If this statement was posted on their original announcement, then all users who signed up, did so accepting the fact that the team could basically change the campaign in any way they wanted. If that clause was added later, then that would be unacceptable.

Is that ethical? Not in my opinion... am I surprised? Not really...
4700  Economy / Reputation / Re: Community opinion on Signature campaign spreadsheets on: February 28, 2019, 09:59:37 PM
I don't understand why it would need to be public? Huh

If you see spam, regardless of whether or not there is a sig attached... simply click the "report to moderator" link and report the post. I don't understand why having access to a spreadsheet would make any difference?

Is it because the self-styled "forum police" want to be able to find all the users of any given campaign easily so they can go and check their post quality? Personally, unless I actually see shitposting/spamming in the boards/threads that I am looking at because I actually want to be reading that board/thread, I don't care.
