4701  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did Biden receive another middle finger from Saudis? (Taiwan was abandoned) on: June 04, 2022, 02:37:20 PM
@pooya87, Didn't Biden publicly say a few days ago that he would intervene militarily in the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan? My local press also claims that Biden is still traveling to the SA at the end of this month, and this is confirmed by other sources from just 48 hours ago.

In addition, OPEC has already agreed to increase oil production to 648 000 barrels per day - but fuel prices in the EU will continue to rise for some time. Fortunately, summer has already arrived in the northern hemisphere, people do not need heating, and bicycles and electric scooters are increasingly being used. This can somewhat ease demand, although it can't stop inflation that was inevitable after 2 difficult years in the pandemic - the war only added fuel to the fire and serves as an excuse to many "it's not our fault, it's the war", but it's a classic political demagoguery.
4702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you care when you wear a commercial Signature? on: June 04, 2022, 01:53:48 PM
I know I am not eligible for any signature campaign.

I must admit that I was surprised that no signature campaign that pays in Bitcoin accepts members with Member rank, because higher ranks do not necessarily mean higher quality posts. Certain Hero and Legendary member participating in some signature campaigns are far worse than some Member or even Jr.Member ranks. Yes, I know about the limits regarding signatures in terms of rank, this is probably the biggest obstacle why no one wants Members in campaigns, no colors in the signature and avatars are obviously not too interesting.

How much do you care about the signature that you are wearing? There are a lot of platforms promoting their business. But, Not all of them are legit. There are some scam casinos like 1xbet. But, There are a lot of bounty campaigns that offer signature campaigns. But, half of them (even more) end up scamming their participants.

I have never participated in any campaigns that paid in tokens/altcoins. Although there are some campaigns in which I wish I had not participated because they later proved to be something that turned into at least suspicious business - but it is a risk that exists with anything that any member promotes on the forum.

Do you research the platform background, or do you examine its legitimacy? I am asking this because I never played on 1xBit, and I didn't get scammed by them. Before joining their platform or signature campaign, I wouldn't know they were scammers. Not only 1xBit. What about other platforms? For example, if A new casino platform offers signature campaigns, Or an exchanger offers a signature campaign, Would you join their campaign without researching their platform? If you investigate any platform, What is the process? How do you check if they are good or bad?

Of course, it is only logical to research what you will promote, at least for someone who cares about the reputation on this forum - for those others who do not care, this approach is obviously completely meaningless. As for online casinos, those who have been in business for a long time also have a good reputation, and the problem is those new ones who have yet to earn their reputation. If you promote such a new casino you always risk that at some point it will turn into a scam, but that does not mean that you are a scammer.

Do you feel like they hired you?
When they accept your application, and you wear their signature, Do you feel like they hired you? If it sounds like a non-sense question, Here is why I am asking this: I noticed some 1xbit participants trying to defend their platform. Even there are no requirement on the campaign. I saw Chip-mixer participants doing discussion on Chip-mixer thread and most of them are Chip-Mixer Signature participants.

There is definitely a kind of business relationship between the one who participates in the signature campaign and the one who chose him to promote a service. There are terms and conditions that both parties accept and all campaigns rely more or less on similar rules or conditions. What may be strange to you is the fact that we used to think that participating in a signature campaign was primarily a privilege to promote what we believe in, and that the reward we receive is just a reward, and not a salary for some kind of full time job.

Well of course the CM participants will discuss what they are advertising, we all aim to know what is happening at any given moment, and we are here to try to answer all the questions someone asks in that thread.
4703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what countries have the best / most privacy fiendly bitcoin laws? on: June 04, 2022, 10:58:53 AM
From times when ICOs were popular, I remember that a lot of projects were registered in Estonia or claimed they have an office there.

Estonia started to change its policy towards crypto business back there sometime in 2019, and this continues today in a direction that has become far more restrictive and demanding for any company that wants to do business in that country. The current geopolitical situation is not helping that country since it borders Russia, and all this uncertainty is not good for business.

Small but tech-mighty Estonia was one of Europe’s leading destinations for cryptocurrency companies.
But the Baltic nation is now getting tough on how it regulates its digital assets and will bring in new rules this month, which some say could deter Estonia’s thriving start-up scene.

Estonia’s new regulations mark a sharp U-turn for a country that has a population of just 1.3 million yet last year was home to more than half the world’s registered virtual-asset service providers (VASPs) last year.
The new rules, which begin on June 15, mean Estonian crypto companies will need to meet new transparency requirements; they can no longer have anonymous accounts and they must have a capital of at least €250,000
4704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenyan energy company entices Bitcoin miners with geothermal power on: June 04, 2022, 10:19:48 AM
Yeah, speaking from experience too, it's the second coldest African country I've lived in (Ethiopia's frigging cold in winter). Compared to rest of Africa is much cooler in Kenya due to elevated land (for me, relatively anyway, from Southeast Asia, Kenya or at least Nairobi areas, it's really chilly. Right now actually 15 degrees Celcius, which is cooler than most air-conditioned places in SE Asia). Also it seems to be getting weirdly cold there -- 2 years ago massive hailstones destroying crops all around, snow occasionally since mid-2000s. So maybe it's less of an issue there (possibly even slightly more advantageous than in other parts of low-land Africa).

15 degrees sounds really good from the perspective of someone currently baking at 30+ and is thousands of miles away from Kenya. Generally people think that the whole African continent is one big hellish kitchen with a few exceptions, but the southern part of the continent seems to be quite colder than the north and the central part.

The more difficult issue to deal with would be the humidity, mining in a humid place is a lot worse than mining in a hot dry place, which many people seem to overlook, moisture is worse than heat, especially if you live in coastal areas, saltwater will do more damage to your gears than temps, humidity is also a lot harder to manage than heat.

Good information that many certainly didn't know about, and it definitely makes sense when you explain it that way. This would mean that some areas in Africa actually have the potential for crypto mining, despite having high temperatures in certain parts of the year. I looked at the situation with hydropower in Africa, and in the last 2 years the capacity was 38 GW, which is about 16 percent of total consumption, and by the end of 2040 that share could be about 25%.

4705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you do if you are me on: June 04, 2022, 09:41:53 AM
It will be nice if you could list the AV you find to be worthwhile through your research because security should be the number one priority of every cryptocurrency investor or holder.

I don't want to single anyone out in a negative context, and I think everyone should try out how some software behaves in his environment - and they all have a trial period of 15 or 30 days, which is enough for everyone to decide if something is good for them or not. Here I am primarily thinking of testing premium software, not those that are free.

My recommendation would be Norton 360 + Premium Malwarebytes, both complement each other great and you don't feel their impact on a computer that has 8 GB of RAM.
4706  Economy / Speculation / Re: First In Bitcoin History (or did it ever happen?) on: June 03, 2022, 11:01:51 AM
I'd argue that the ETFs that we have now aren't any good for bitcoin. Futures trading is basically gambling where people bet money on stocks without having to buy they. They're not investors but gamblers and their gambling has nothing to do with the price of the assets unless they have friends in high places who can manipulate price like owners of exchanges who can create leverage out of thin air.

I did not claim that such ETFs are good for Bitcoin, but that they just did not exist in the past and that they have some impact on the market nowadays. Let's say that today there are many more crypto gamblers who have at their disposal various ways (tools) to try to profit from Bitcoin.

As for the manipulators, I would agree that many of the influential people in that world are connected, and that they do various immoral things because at the end of the day, all that matters to them is profit. The entire crypto market is still below the levels of stocks, gold or anything else that is at those levels, which means that it is extremely volatile and completely exposed to manipulation.

Nowadays holders have more confidence in bitcoin which is why crashes are more shallow than they used to be but market manipulation takes places as it did and the number of red candles or length  of cycles is meaningless. You can be sure though that bitcoin is a cow for these people and they won't let it die. They will keep milking it for decades. A bear market can last for 3 months or 3 years but it will turn into a bull market when these people decide there's more money to be made squeezing shorts.

You may have seen the fact that 65% of BTC did not move in a period of 1 year, which would be in favor of the average investor learning something from the past. But big fish are still in a position to wait longer and in the end they are always the ones who profit the most. I just hope that in the process some ordinary people will succeed in achieving some of their goals, although nothing will change in the fact that big fish always eat small fish, nature is relentless here.
4707  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you do if you are me on: June 03, 2022, 10:13:14 AM
OP, be informed that Antivirus and Malwarebytes work based on how they are programmed and they are never a good way to avoid some malware on your PC because the good way to avoid something malicious on your PC depends on you.
~snip~

When you say Antivirus then you can't say in general that all AVs are good or bad and do their job the way they should. I have tested many AVs over the years and for many (even very famous ones) I can say that they surprised me very unpleasantly with how aggressive they are, how much they have a negative effect on the OS and that they are difficult to configure for the average user.

On the other hand, there are security solutions (not just AV) that in my opinion do their job very well, have little effect on the system and are not aggressive in any way. The problem is that most internet users are not aware of the dangers, do not think they need to be protected and in the end think that every AV is the same.

With a well-organized security system and good online habits, even Windows OS can be a secure environment - and I say this from personal experience.
4708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenyan energy company entices Bitcoin miners with geothermal power on: June 03, 2022, 09:42:33 AM
The first thing that comes to my mind when it comes to Africa and crypto mining are the temperatures that are actually very high in most of Africa which I guess raises the price of mining due to the extra cooling of the mining devices. But I looked at how Kenya stands on this issue and it seems that the location of the plant is still in a more temperate climate zone so the whole thing makes some sense.

The move may not attract foreign investors, but it will encourage some domestic entrepreneurs to try to make money. Success will, as always, depend on the price of energy and the level of corruption - because the greater the corruption there are many more interests that need to be met.

4709  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-16] Bitcoin rallies as new South Korean president vows crypto push on: June 03, 2022, 09:14:55 AM
I reckon bitcoiners should begin to do more research about different Defi projects and stop calling them scams.

I think bitcoiners should be more concerned with Bitcoin, not the whole industry that just uses Bitcoin for their (mostly) scam projects. The fact that someone who has been on the forum for years still thinks Kwon and his project aren’t completely scam doesn’t give me much hope when it comes to the future.

When you mention DeFi, what exactly are the benefits of something that generates a bunch of scams and results in financial losses measured in billions of $? This whole system is like a sieve through which someone pours water and expects that sieve to retain water, and we know that is impossible.

Be kind - and inform in which country you live, we will understand who is close to culture and civilized norms! Smiley Well, seriously - it's very interesting to understand what you put into these concepts. But let it be on the example of your country, as they say "a living example"! I'm sure there will be many "surprises" if we delve into the study of "culture" ...

I hate to repeat things, and most already know what country I come from - the thing is pretty obvious to anyone who wants to know it. I think that my country is also very far from the standards that would classify it as an appropriate member of the EU, but Brussels bureaucrats considered it a desirable cube in their mosaic because of its geostrategic position and of course cheap labor.

I know that you strongly represent the interests of your country and I have nothing against Ukraine becoming a member of the EU one day, but in less than 10 years since my country become EU member we lost over 400 000 people, paid a lot of money into the EU budget and fell on the bottom of the same EU.

If you are naive to think that the EU will solve Ukraine's problems now or in the future, then you live in that belief - in 100 days of war they hardly did anything concrete - without US military aid, where would Ukraine be today?
4711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4.45 million bitcoin untouched for 5yrs,do BTC community can retrieve in future? on: June 02, 2022, 02:53:26 PM
Does anyone still believe in the theories launched by a spy company (blockchain analysis) to promote themselves and their business a few years ago? If memory serves me well, they based their theory of lost coins on a period of 4 years of inactivity, which is a completely meaningless methodology to determine how much Bitcoin has been irretrievably lost.

Although the exact number will remain unknown, I think that given the human exaggeration around everything, the number of BTCs currently lost is close to 2 million - although this is just speculation.
4712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MS Word vulnerability could lead to stealing your bitcoins on: June 02, 2022, 02:38:32 PM
As stated in the OP, this vulnerability is not just about stealing Bitcoin but about any digital information you store on your computer - and it is known that private keys and seed should not be stored on a computer, especially not in unprotected form as plain text. At risk here are those who do not have high security standards and are negligent in most things they do - but since it is very easy to disable this attack, I see no reason why we should not prevent something bad from happening.

For those who have Windows in their local language and have never used Command Prompt, I suggest typing CMD into a Windows search engine, or translating Command Prompt into your local language before searching. Of course, copy the commands without quotes, and you can paste them by pressing CTRL + V.
4713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chipotle now accepts crypto payments (only in US stores for now) on: June 02, 2022, 01:49:00 PM
I don't know how the issue will be when it comes to declaring either, as paying for sandwiches with biticoin or other cryptocurrencies will create taxable events.

That’s exactly what I thought about when I read the news, because if something hasn’t changed about how the IRS views crypto transactions, then most U.S. citizens certainly won’t be encouraged to pay this way. The question also arises as to how much Bitcoin will be represented in payments given the fact that as many as 98 cryptocurrencies are available - and for many most of us who are mostly focused on Bitcoin have not even heard of it.

See the list and see for yourself, and my personal favorite is of course the first space currency available on planet Earth (soon on Mars) Cheesy

4714  Economy / Economics / Re: Will it ever be for Belarus? on: June 02, 2022, 01:05:22 PM
EU buys influence in many countries, and it's one of the things I don't like about EU.

And tell me who is not buying influence today, if we take into account the most powerful countries in the world? If you look at what China or the US are doing on this issue, but also what Russia has been doing for 20-30 years, then I would say that the EU is very incompetent in its efforts.

No. EU continuously wants to expand (which is another thing I don't like about EU). There is no "forever". If Russia would play their cards right, I have no doubt EU would send them money too. A new "EU friendly" president in either of those countries would change everything again.

I also do not think it is wise for the EU to expand to the east, especially not for countries that are far from any cultural and civilizational norms to become part of the EU. If you look at the example of Serbia, which is a candidate country and has already closed a good part of the negotiating chapters while pursuing the same policy within the country with which they committed the greatest war crimes since WW2, then it is clear that all Russian crimes and actions will be forgotten in the future.

In fact, Putin does not need bigger allies than the current French president or German chancellor, and the latter is one of the main obstacles in the EU's attempt to tighten its grip on Russia - new sanctions after 100 days of war? They do not help anyone, but only keep the patient alive and the enemies at a safe distance.
4715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Elon Musk and the BitVex.org scam - You have been warned!!! on: June 02, 2022, 10:29:25 AM
YT is full of fake videos that present themselves as Live events with various famous people from the crypto world, although these are recordings of some past events in which scammers or influencers then insert some of their ideas. People who listen to Musk with any ideas related to cryptocurrencies should know that they are wasting their time, because the man has publicly admitted that he is not very knowledgeable about these things.

Not only is the problem that someone is doing things like this, but the even bigger problem is that millions of naive people believe in fairy tales like this.
4716  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Usual phishing warning on: June 02, 2022, 09:51:10 AM
Google is valuated at about $1.5 trillion, as of May 2022, and you think they can't hire a few hundreds of people who can check for the genuineness of these ads? They simply don't care.

People have unfortunately become a problem for many companies, especially in the technology sector, which is increasingly striving for automated solutions. What people used to do, today robots do - and of course there is the ubiquitous artificial intelligence that is available 24/365, does not go on vacation and sick leave and has no children and family. In the end, if someone clicks on a phishing link served by Google and is financially damaged because of it, let them just try to sue Google which has a bunch of lawyers willing to destroy anyone who looks at them wrong.
4717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Gen Z on: June 01, 2022, 02:50:09 PM
I regret that my family for example never gave me any financial education but I'm not even sure if they could actually teach me something besides don't spend more than what I can afford to pay, discovering bitcoin really opened me a world that I had never paid attention to before, I'm referring about money management, investment, thinking in a different way, etc etc. Bitcoin for me has been way more than "just" a digital currency.

Expensive private schools and the best colleges do not always guarantee success in life - there are as many examples as you want. Your parents must have raised you well if you think this way - and every parent should teach their child to never steal from others, not to spend more than they earn, and that money is not the most important thing in the world.

For many, Bitcoin is just an investment and it is something we cannot change, but if we understand its essence and use it in a better and more correct way, then we can have much greater benefits than just profit. We may need to wait for another generation to start thinking outside the box, but no one should think that change should happen overnight.

For admins or moderators we can do job for finding crypto and marking addresses as scam with payment after.

If you mean the moderators and admins of this forum, you should know that they are not engaged in any investigations - in other words, the scam is not moderated on this forum.

As for investigations, it is relatively easy to find out where some coins ended up if that address is publicly known as the address of a CEX - just by using this site -> https://www.walletexplorer.com/
4720  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: June 01, 2022, 01:21:47 PM
I think it's easy to see though, that these sanctions aren't just hurting Russia's economy. It's hurting the West's.

I have already written about how Russia is in a much better position because it was preparing for war and sanctions even before it started tearing Ukraine apart by attacking Crimea and supporting uprisings in Ukrainian regions along its western borders. It's like playing poker games where you know all the cards of your opponents and you can only lose money if you're a complete fool.

Even if sanctions work, no government in Russia, if we look through history, cared too much for the common man and he has always been a collateral victim for some major goals. In other words, Russia has enough cannon fodder to be able to fight for a very long time, whether 50 000 or 500 000 Russian soldiers die for Moscow doesn't matter anyway - most of the soldiers are from poor and rural parts of Russia anyway.
