Quote
Josh Garza, the CEO of the now-defunct cryptocurrency mining company GAW Miners, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to a wire fraud charge.

Garza was given six months home confinement as part of a 3-year probationary period following release.

Thursday's sentencing caps a years-long saga that began in 2014, with allegations that GAW was functioning as a Ponzi scheme by selling more cryptocurrency mining processing power than the firm actually possessed.

Garza had good legal representation as he got off with a light sentence. His was the number one cryptocurrency scam I wrote about back in 2015; Litecoin GEAR came in second place.

What a douchnozzle:

My take:

4724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 12, 2018, 12:28:17 PM
I figured it was time to buy the F#@$% dip so I ventured out last night to a place I found about a year ago.  They wouldn't sell me bitcoin last year but they put me on a video phone call with a guy who explained to me he was waiting for a licence so he couldn't sell me any Bitcoin yet... at the time, the shop was open and they were selling cell phone parts and accessories but the Bitcoin sign was clearly visible just as it was last night.  I guess you can only wait so long for a licence... damn!

Guess I'll have to search out an ATM.

What decentralized benefits are you speaking of?

"Issuer
The Gemini dollar is issued by Gemini Trust Company, LLC, a New York trust company.
"

This is the only issuer and it must so in order to comply with FINCEN/KYC/anti-money laundering legislation in the US.  It uses the ETH blockchain for ease and speed but other than that, it differs very little from traveller's cheque other than they are digital rather than physical.  An ERC 20 token can be created at any time and therefore, these "stablecoins" will required regular audits to ensure they are only being created as they are being purchased by US dollars.  Also, you aren't going to be able to use them unless you give all your personally identifying information to a central authority.

Sure, we can say history is being made but it's no more exciting for me than the history being made by you and I exchanging our views on this forum.  Baby steps I guess?

Regarding you needing to look up a word, I don't want to sound like a dick or nothing, but it says on your chart that you're fucked up. Ah, you talk like a fag, and your shit's all 'tarded. What I'd do, is just like... ha ha... like... aha... you know, like, you know what I mean, like... haha...

16 Bitcoin Price Predictions from "Industry Experts"

Bottoming out at $5400  sounds a tiny bit bearish to me.  It also makes me a little sad but that's the worst prediction of the lot which seems bullish.

4733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH mining: Seeking guide in English language on: September 03, 2018, 09:56:36 PM
I wouldn't even bother with a GPU anymore for ETH.  The standalone Antminer E3 is capable of 190 MH/s uses 760 Watts and costs US$1162
An RX Veg 64 GPU is going to run you over $500 $600 uses ~ 200W and puts out 33MH/s <--- as far as I know, that's the best GPU you can get.

Personally I don't like that Bitmain has started a KYC policy if you want to purchase a miner but giving them that kind of info would be up to you obviously.

With a GPU you can mine all manner of shitcoin though and I would be wary of the ETH team changing the Algo to obsolete your ETH device... so maybe a GPU is better in the long run.  With most of crypto being depressed, you might even be better off just buying some ETH rather than risking mining at a loss.  You should so some research on your own before committing.

edit: to fix GPU pricing.

I sent this transaction through Cryptopia and never had a situation where its been 2 hours+ with 0 confirmations: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/eb729f004143ad3a03288163ba957b1a8bcfb7c65c804a5da646a040c2a6594d/

Any insight would be appreciated.

Wow you really chintzed out on the fees - <4 Sats/B is pretty low which is probably why it took 106 minutes.

Use this for an estimate of fees if you need a tx to go through quickly: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

15 to 16 sats/B would have probably included your tx in the very next block.

that website is terrible for fee estimation. they basically predict the best fee then add a percentage to it so they tell you a higher fee so that if you checked their site and chose a fee you would be 100% among the high paying fees (high priority). but that will also increase the competitive fee and that is not good for the network!

suggest either one of these two:
https://coinb.in/#fees
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h
they are better. the first one is even fun to use, people may learn a thing or two about transactions and how the size thing works.

I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be.  Anyway, OP seemed worried about the length of time it took for his tx to go through and the fee he included was ~3.7 Sats/B
The first site on your list is saying 3 Sats/B for a tx... how is this gonna help him?!  That might be the minimum possible fee to have your tx included sometime today but it is not good enough to have it included in the next block is it?

You're not allowed to advertise in others' threads.  You can bump your topic once every 24 hours to give yourself exposure on this board.  Alternatively, Theymos auctions ad space weekly on this site or you can try to organize a signature campaign to promote your business.
4737  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How long will this take? on: September 03, 2018, 02:44:13 PM
It may depend on your fee that you did agree on when doing the transaction. I always set up a medium fee and the transfer did not take more than 1 to 2 hours.

Dude.  His transaction only took 106 minutes which is 1 hour 46 minutes.  He didn't need a medium fee for that.
You should always check to see an approximation of the fee required if you are impatient or in a hurry for the transaction to confirm.

USA under attack!

EDIT: and do not touch tits which you don't own!

This story has been in the news for almost 2 years and finally today they realize people's brains have been fried?  Seems weird.
I remember hearing a recording of the sound last year that was purportedly from an ultrasonic weapon, which is weird because by definition ultrasonic frequencies cannot be heard by human ears, then again nobody ever accused diplomats of being human.

At least this time it isn't the Russians attacking Americans;  just all the other communists  Roll Eyes
