Well, guess what, no one will contact you with good intentions to make you rich or fall in love. If they are looking for help, you gonna pay for it.
Never, I repeat NEVER open anything from person, you don't know in person in real life.
I "won" the Canadian lottery twice, and I don't even live in Canada and never applied, we had a long conversation on the phone how can I claim my prize, that was more than 10 years ago.
Nigerian princesses looking for rescuers, Microsoft support.. etc....  shit like this is circulation on the Internet long before the crypto.
If you are willing to open some of the links, do it from a computer which has no personal information on it, and best is to use a live boot Linux distro.
Don't be naive, Internet can be dangerous if you don know what you are doing.
4742  Other / Meta / Re: Any restrictions for this kind of attitude? on: April 23, 2018, 01:27:08 PM
When I saw his post history I thought that all those threads could have been moved to the News section, but yeah, I agree that there is a very thin line between what he is doing and what is against the "rules" according to the theymos.

I'm not a forum police, but I do report some posts, so It's good to know what is crossing the line, in order not to waste both mine and Mods' time.
4743  Other / Meta / Any restrictions for this kind of attitude? on: April 23, 2018, 12:13:05 PM
coinpediaJordan is posting his publications all over the forum. It's a kind of advertising his news site and generating traffic, which maybe is OK but scattering posts around in every possible board I think is a bit too much.
This should be allowed only in the News Section.

Why are you people taking the forum as a full time job or making living out of it?
Having ALTs just for to join campaigns how you gonna make all those posts if you are not spamming?

I think even for nullius will be difficult to have productive discussions with so many alts.

Pharma made a good thing, fighting all those spammers, and here you are on the other side complaining how he ruined your life... c'mon get a real job.

Great, finally some rules here too Wink
@Flying Hellfish, What is the best way to report a user with multiple shitposts? Report only one and leave a comment in the report that the user has multiple shitposts and need the mod's attention, or just report all the shitposts one by one?

Every mod has different way of taking care of the reports, so I don't want to waste both your and mine time Smiley

Actually I have no idea how the reports are handled here in the forum, and how many privileges local modes have.
4746  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU APPLY!! on: April 21, 2018, 06:41:33 PM
My rank is: Full Member
The merit I need to rank-up: 1

To rank-up to Sr.Member you need not 1 but 150 merit. You have no merited posts yet, but you still apply?

I know the rules are a bit tight and not for everyone, but this is the idea here. If you have proven yourself and  gained so and so Merit and you need only one to rank up I'll be happy to help. But in your case, come back after 149 more merits and at least two merited posts.
4747  Other / Meta / Re: My friend introduce me to btc. At first I was hesitant..... on: April 21, 2018, 09:59:48 AM
One guy contact me on Facebook some time ago, asking some stupid questions about the bounties here, then ask me, home many account I have and that one of his friends was managing a few accounts with more than 80 bounties simultaneously, and he was wondering how can he managed all this work....so this is the result...
4748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][ICO] BTCx - The Most Advanced Version of Bitcoin - Privacy Matters! on: April 21, 2018, 06:49:06 AM
You people don't really bother to check if there's info elsewhere, right?
Quick look at the roadmap on their website shows this:
Quote
...
First Quarter-2018
BTCx Project continued to work with re-branding and renewed partners (team). Project renewal and sector oriented arrangements were followed.

Second Quarter-2018
BTCx Project will start re-branding 'New Name, Web Site, Concept, Sponsorship etc.'

Third Quarter-2018
The rebranding of project will be announced and will be broadcast. Airdrop and Bounty campaigns will be organized, social media announcements will start and ads will be publish. The ICO Web site will be online. The 30-day investment process will begin. The Alpha version of the payment system will be online.

Fourth Quarter-2018
The Beta version of the payment system will be online. Distribution of BTCx via ICO. BTCx trade will be initiated at stock markets such as HitBTC and EtherDelta. Following that, trading will be on other bigger exchanges as well.
...

So if you expect to get tokens anytime soon, you are on the wrong side.
If by any chance this project turns out not to be scam, we won't find out before the end of the autumn.
4749  Other / Meta / Re: Initial sMerit for every rank? on: April 20, 2018, 03:25:09 PM
How can I see my sMerit? In this table, I can't see the Smerit for the full member. The merit system is very good but it is very tough to earn actually. That's why I need to know if I have sMerit then I can help others to rank up their Account

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit

To check my sMerit I usually open my profile /or any other profile/ and click on the merit link.
There is your /or any other/ merit history, but above the statistics you can see this :
Code:
Bitcoin Forum > Merit > Merit summary for iasenko

Clicking on the > Merit> will take you to your current sMerit statistics Wink

Maybe there are other (easier) ways, but this works for me.
4750  Other / Meta / Re: Initial sMerit for every rank? on: April 20, 2018, 07:57:22 AM

I'll probably publish a dump of the initial sMerit at some point.

Thank you, theymos. I unlock this thread because I think more people should be aware of it.
I think I'll keep it open for now.

I'm making a list of the initial smerit for every rank, but the search did't help much.
Looking for the Full Member, Sr.member and Hero member.
I have found some numbers but I need confirmation to be sure. This info is nowhere to be found.
This is what I have so far

This thread should be locked.
From all the 3 pages with the same answers only 2-3 posts were worth it.
Note to the newbies, lock your threads after you get your questions answered.

So somewhere in your calculation there is something wrong.  How do you calculate the initial sMerit? .

I don't count initial sMerit.  That's why it says "has at least".  I simply take the amount of sMetrit you have received, divide it by two, then subtract the amount you have sent.  You can have no less than that.  I get my data right from the merit log.  I'd like to discuss this with you in more detail.

OK, let me know what you need, I'll help with what I can Smiley

That would be great!  I need at least a couple weeks as I have made some major chances that will not allow me to restore data from a backup.  Sad

OK, let me know when everything is up and running and I'll add your link to my sig. and share it on Twitter:)

When will be selected the new mod/mods/? I guess it will take some time.

In the meantime can I entertain you with some examples of extreme shitposters accumulating activity there. They don't even try to post in English.. just a quick look>

Only 5 here but I can go on..

It's the same situation in the  Economy / Economics section.

Hope theymos finds a good solution to all this because just a few Mods cannot beat this horde of shitposters even working on a full-time job.

Edited: I'm not immune to typos, sorry.

..
Hope theymost ...

Fool, its not TheyMost, its THEYMUST find a good mod. #PunIntended
I think iasenko is referring to Sir theymos. Because if it really is TheyMust, then what is the subject of "they must" in this sentence? What particular subject he is referring to?

So does it means iasenko is referring to some kind of organisation or what? Because of the word "they".
Which I think is Sir "theymos's" name Smiley

You didn't notice the  #PunIntended, right?
4757  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BPIP problems on: April 16, 2018, 09:10:08 AM
@Vod
I have investigated the case, as I said in the previous topic you have locked.
Here is what I found checking the merit database dump file you posted. Quick check in Excel :

My profile ID is > 1291828

I got 142 merit and I have given 51 (the database dump is from 12.04.18)
I have initial 10 merit ( I was a Member when the merit system came).

Now I have the following according to my merit stats in the forum:
Quote
You have received a total of 154 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 21 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people.

So somewhere in your calculation there is something wrong.  How do you calculate the initial sMerit? .
I was Member when the merit came and apparently I had 1* initial sMerit but now I'm Full Member and if you calculate my initial sMerit based on my current rank (Full member), the calculations will be wrong. Maybe there is the problem.

Lets check my initial sMerit to be sure>
The formula is My total Merit - Initial merit divided by 2 to get the sMerit I got. Then I take out the given sMerit til now and compare the result with my current sMerit.

(154-10)/2=72

We take out the 52 smerit I have sent til now.

72-52=20 so this does not equal to what I have now (21), so my initial sMerit was 1.

*I don't remember how much smerit I had that time, but it seems that  I had only 1 based on the calculations.
We need a table with the the initial sMerit for the different ranks.

I would like to help you advertise your project with a link in my signature if you agree. I will also share it on my twitter just to spread the word Smiley
4758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU APPLY!! on: April 15, 2018, 09:40:44 PM
My rank is: tringt
The merit I need to rank-up: 1

I went 11 pages back of your post history and a lot of the them are in the bounty section. Participating in bounties is not something bad,we are trying to fight the spam here so, besides that I see you have some comments most in your local Alt section.  Found also 3-4 good posts, so here is my constitution.

Based on what I saw you are balancing on a thin line between the shitposter and OK poster. No rule breaking so far, at least I did't found any. I gave you 1 Merit because of the effort you put to write those 3-4 good posts. If you don't reduce the one line posts and focus on learning instead of the bounties, I guess this will be your last Rank Up in the near future.

Edited.

If you like this article, I expect from you merit. Wink

If someone is willing to give you merit for what you've done, I don't see the point of pressing him/her to do so.
Just to say many established members will consider this line as a pure merit begging and then you are in trouble.
You can end up drowning in the Red Sea of trust, so better do what you do without asking for merit, and if people think you deserve a reward, then you get one.
Don't chase the merit, let the merit chase you Wink

P.S. I warned you, now it's too late.
