4781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves will kill Ethereum? on: May 30, 2018, 07:34:12 AM
I'm very confident that Waves won't supplant Ethereum. A lot of the criticism aimed at Ethereum is based on current problems facing ETH, and says that in the future [insert ETH competitor] will be able to solve all of these issues, therefore this other coin is better than ETH. The distinction here is between now and future. If this other coin can in the future solve ETH's current problems, doesn't it also seem likely that in the future ETH will also solve ETH's current problems? ETH is a very professional project with very active and competent devs. I think ETH will be number one for smart contracts for a long time yet.
4782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO or buy later on exchange ? on: May 29, 2018, 12:12:49 PM
How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?

How come there are coins that are worth like 0.0004 $, usually during an ICO one coin is sold in the range of 1$ or not ?

Do some "coins" skip the ICO stage ?

Depends partly on the overall market trend - if the whole market drops since an ICO takes place, then the $ value of the token will fall below its fiat ICO price but maybe not below its BTC/ETH ICO price.
Another thing to consider is volumes - if a new coin is only listed on very minor exchanges and is only trading very low volumes, then the listed price may not be realistic - eg you can't buy $1,000 worth of the coin if there are only a couple of sell orders totalling $500.
4783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will be the market cap in the end of 2018? on: May 29, 2018, 08:49:39 AM
I would say over $500 billion, with a chance of over $1 trillion.

We have seen wild fluctuations so far this year, but if you look at the underlying trend it is steadily upwards. Whilst with all the peaks and troughs it is difficult to give an accurate estimate, it does seem likely that the underlying trend will continue, and we will see a solid base above $500 billion.
4784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which do you think is the biggest problem in the crypto market? on: May 25, 2018, 01:40:41 PM
A lot of the problems in crypto are due to its relative immaturity - it is still a young sector. As time goes on and crypto matures, many of these problems will go away...
Problems due to regulation - this is largely regulatory uncertainty and inconsistency, sensible and consistent regulation will evolve as crypto enters the mainstream.
Price volatility and manipulation - due partly to low volumes, which will improve as crypto gets bigger.
Altcoin prices being pegged to bitcoin - due mostly to bitcoin's marketdominance and to the fact that many fiat to alt conversions are only possible via BTC - again will disappear as crypto matures.

I think that many of the problems we face now are because it is a young market. In a few years' time, I think a lot of these will improve or disappear. Of course we may face a whole host of as-yet unanticipated problems...
4785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Compromised MEW Passkey, How to avoid future loss on: May 24, 2018, 09:01:40 AM
Not really.
You need first of all to move everything out of that wallet, and then secondly set up a new wallet and notify anyone of a change of address for any tokens you are expecting in future (e.g. bounty campaigns).
4786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum will go up or down? on: May 24, 2018, 08:14:01 AM
Ethereum (ETH) will go up or down?

What do you thinking?

Long-term - almost definitely up as smart contracts become part of day-to-day life

Medium-term - probably up as the potential of smart contracts becomes more apparent and as crypto as a whole grows, and as ETH POS becomes established

Short-term - who knows? ETH price will likely follow the whole market, irrespective of specific ETH news and developments
4787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will EOS hit $100 in this Year? on: May 23, 2018, 12:11:43 PM
I don't know. I'm interested in the project, but I don't hold any EOS. I'm very wary of getting in at the moment, as the price is based largely on hype. Yes, maybe the price will go up a lot, but when other coins have been over-hyped they have suffered sharp falls. Maybe this won't happen with EOS, but I'd rather stay away at the moment.
4788  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $ 91,000 by 2020? on: May 23, 2018, 11:30:24 AM
Fundstrat founder and strategist Tom Lee recently announced that bitcoin prices would reach $ 91,000 by March 2020. What do you think about this prediction? Please comment on this issue?

I think that crypto will continue to expand - it has barely even begun to fulfill its potential in the real world. And for the whole history of crypto, bitcoin has been leading the way. Whether this will continue or not, who knows? With many new coins and tokens offering specific functionality and use cases, smart contracts etc., bitcoin has defaulted to become more of a store-of-value coin. Presumably this will continue to be the case. Yes, there is a chance that it could reach $91k in two years' time, but then again things can change. There will be many bumps in the road, and many issues to overcome. What will happen wrt scaling? Will LN still be a thing? etc... Crypto prices have proven to be wildly unpredictable, and putting a specific price on a specific date two years down the road seems like a strange thing to do.
4789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $10,000 to spend on: May 23, 2018, 10:21:16 AM
How do you guys feel about

$5000 in XRP
$5000 in WAVES

Hodling for long term returns

Contrary to a lot of others, I do think XRP is a good choice. But I would split your money across more coins, and get some ETH and NEO as well as some BTC.
It's all personal choice though, everyone has their own perspectives and opinions. I do think that XRP price will rise, one thing to watch out for with this coin is that price rises are often sudden and dramatic, fuelled at least in part by the traditionally overheated South Korean element.
4790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [ZRX] 0X Project Speculation on: May 22, 2018, 02:08:09 PM
I'm another one who is bullish on 0x. Yes, it will have competition, but that just proves there's a need for this sort of project. Developments and the future look promising, I will continue to hold.
4791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Potential on: May 22, 2018, 12:51:40 PM
There is a lot of hype towards ethereum, so in your opinion is that a good time for holding this alt?

It is always a good time to be holding Ethereum. It is a very solid project with big adoption and huge potential. As the upgrades continue to be rolled out, problems such as network clogging will gradually fade away. I think that ETH has a very bright future.
4792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 5 ETH to invest for long-term on: May 21, 2018, 01:08:35 PM
If you had 5 ETH, where would you invest for long-term 2 years hodl benefit?

It is not a huge amount, so I would say just keep it as ETH.
If (when!) the ETH price goes up significantly, you could maybe siphon off a small percentage to put into other projects.
4793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Neo to surpass Eth on: May 21, 2018, 07:34:10 AM
Everyone keeps saying that neo will surpass eth.. how come then the price hasn't even gone over $100 :/

It may happen in the long-term, but short- and medium-term this looks very unlikely, either in terms of market cap or individual token price.
NEO is a great project, but so is ETH. And ETH has a big first-mover advantage.

But as with almost everything in crypto, we are still in the very early stages for both projects. ETH is still being used
mainly as an ICO platform, but its potential goes way beyond that and smart contracts can in future reach a long way into daily life. Same for NEO. I'm not saying it definitely won't catch ETH, but if it does it won't be anytime soon.
4794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrop millionaires ( Your success stories ) on: May 18, 2018, 01:49:09 PM
One thing to be wary of is those airdrops that have KYC requirements.

Remember that we have seen a number of airdrops that are phishing scams, trying to get personal data and/or wallet private keys.
Airdrops in general give only a very low reward, so you should think very very carefully before submitting any KYC documentation.
Personally I think it is not worth the risk at all.

Just be careful, everyone! KYC is becoming more and more commonplace, but is it worth the risk for a few free coins?
4795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it normal to wait for 6 months for a bounty reward? on: May 18, 2018, 01:25:44 PM
Most of us join bounty campaigns because it is one of the means for us to get coins. I just want to verify how many of us have experienced waiting for a long period of time to get our coins. Don't get me wrong, i do trust the managers and what they say. And, most of them give valid  reasons why it'll take that long for them to distribute the rewards. In average, how long do you receive your coins after a bounty campaign?

Some campaigns are better than others, and some are quicker at paying out. It is understandable that companies may not want to pay out bounties as soon as the coin is tradeable - they really don't want to see their new coin tanking in price as a lot of bounty recipients dump the coins at the first opportunity.
Projects that don't reach soft cap is a separate issue - this means that the project has failed to gain sufficient minimum funding to be viable, so the project stops. There would be no point to receiving coins in this instance as they would be worth $0. It is a risk we take I suppose, so we should always try to back campaigns where it is a strong project with a good chance of success.
4796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO and BOunty will End? on: May 17, 2018, 10:36:36 AM
These questions are always in my mind, what will happen if people will run out of ideas for creating a project for ICO? we all know that ICO will only be a success with a good Idea a good platform, even if you have a team and time to do a project for ICO without an idea it is useless because people will not buy your token, tell me guys your opinion about these, maybe someday people will run out of Ideas, Bounty hunters are also affected if these will happen.

Crypto is still very young. Prices for almost every coin are based largely on future potential. We are a very long way from people running out of ideas. As crypto matures and becomes embedded in everyday society, and as technology advances, new problems will always arise - and new solutions will rise to solve these problems.

Look back twenty years to the dotcom rush, and all the solutions that were offered then - and compare this with big websites that exist and prosper nowadays - in 1998 it would have been very difficult to envisage some of the internet problems and solutions that exist in 2018. It will be the same with crypto.

I think there is no need for concern on this issue.
4797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sell EOS I told you so! on: May 17, 2018, 09:52:19 AM
I never bought EOS because I don't like the way the ICO is run. Not saying this makes it a bad project, but it does help to make it a coin whose price is largely dependent on hype. And this gives a big warning signal.

We do see this with a lot of projects, and in general once the hype reaches huge levels it is a good time to sell. Even if it is a good project, you will have better opportunities to buy back in at a cheaper price later on once the hype has died down. We've seen this with so many coins. Cardano was a recent one, and before that IOTA.

If you see something racing towards the top in marketcap, but they don't have a working project yet - then just be aware that what goes up rapidly often falls back just as rapidly.
4798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many airdrop programs? on: May 17, 2018, 09:11:21 AM
Hello everybody  Grin

I want to ask something, why every day even every time a lot of airdrop programs that appear? I do not know where they came from and how they came, suddenly appeared. thanks

Airdropping a small proportion of coins is a good way for a new project to develop publicity and interest. This is why airdrop conditions often include having to retweet or share social media posts.

The reason there are so many of them is really a good sign - there is a lot of interest in crypto now and a lot of new projects appearing every day.
4799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Panic sell? on: May 17, 2018, 07:31:14 AM
Due to unstable price of market, Is it now the best time to sell all the holdings of altcoin and revert it back to tether for safe mode? Will the price of each altcoin keeps going down? Please can anyone reach me on this.

I know this post is more than a month old, but it is still worth mentioning that Tether isn't absolutely safe. It may have a stable price around $1, but it isn't the same as $1. There has been skepticism of Tether in the past, and the subpoena. It is relatively safe to use short term, but I'd question holding Tether for a longer period.
4800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term Holds - advice on profile on: May 15, 2018, 01:43:47 PM
Hi Guys,

Relatively new to the crypto scene. Started at the beginning of the year (not exactly the best time) and have been buying on the dips to drive my cost averages down.

Looking to reshuffle a few coins and organise for long term holds, thinking of aiming for the following:

~10% in Cardano, Nano, Iota, Nem, Neo, VeChain, Ripple

~5% in Digibyte, Power Ledger, Stellar Lumens, Verge, OmiseGO and Sia

I already have something quite close and would only need to purchase VeChain and Neo.

What do you guys think Smiley ?

I like most of your 10% coins, not so keen on the 5% ones.
I would be tempted to go for Waltonchain in preference to VeChain. Also I would recommend getting some Ethereum and Bitcoin.

Just personal preferences though; everyone will have a different opinion.
