481  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Block Erupter USB]0.10BTC-0.12BTC, Distribution Re-Opened on: September 13, 2013, 02:44:51 PM
my thoughts as well. would have already bought.
these advertised prices are for previous customers only

Just curious about one thing.

I have found this thread through ads on the site. I have setup a small group buy and wanted to buy a 100 BEs. I sent an e-mail to one of the address listed on the OP.

and basically I have been redirected to a reseller who is taking a 16% cut on the price to which I am not really interested.

IMO, a reseller sells small quantities to a higher price tag.

So my question is: What is the point to advertise a new price if it is not possible to have the product at that price and turn down potential customers?

I may recontact you at the next price drop to attempt to make a purchase or maybe I'll try an alternative product as I'm starting to see Bitfury USB keys around....

Anyway, if I have misunderstood something, I hope that you'll be able to make the communication clearer at your next ads campaign.

I request a full refund.
order 827

If I decide to purchase from TH again, I will await product that is actually in house.
Please refund and restore some of your reputation.

thx

Regarding the project as a whole. Since Yifu is offering chip refunds now, we can go that route. But as you know, chips were only about 50-60% cost in our operation, that is all we would be able to refund everyone.

Another option is to get a refund now, and buy the Gen 2 chips in October. Yifu has announced that the Gen 2 chips will be fully compatible with Gen 1. So, we would be able to use the current boards, heat sinks, cases and most (if not all) of the components. And everyone will get about 8-10 times more hashing power for same price. (This is just an estimate, we will get more details once he releases the specs.) And we'll get another month and a half to sort out the issues with the current design. Instead of depending upon BkkCoins this time, we will hire people here to build upon and improve his design. We will open source everything we do.

thx, yes I did, jumping through 'bank's hoops', sending me back to paypal.

I was one of the many silent watchers and supporters of TH.

take my order out of the waiting list.
order #827
(1) K64 + (1) K16

...patience is gone, done waiting for chips to arrive.
TH offer of '3 months refund' window is unacceptable.

'officially' requested a refund via TH website
...no reply to my emails
refund requested via paypal
...paypal declined (outside 45 day window)
on phone with paypal now.

will update...
(using previous advice for contacting paypal supervisor "Aaron")

If you paid by ccard, call your issuing bank.

Not happy about waiting 3 months for a refund, but appreciate the option.
Is this 3 months from initial purchase date, or 3 months from a refund request?

New Option
c) Credit\Transfer 100% of existing purchase towards new product announcement

If you guys wish, I can bring up the refund issue with Yifu (in case he answers), and get the chips refunded. But we are heavily invested into this. The cases, custom heat sinks, PCBs, parts acquired at higher prices or acquired from secondary market are all non-refundable and impossible to sell. And since we ordered everything for 80,000 chips (40,000 our own and 40,000 anticipated assembly orders). So even with a refund from Avalon (which we highly doubt they will ever give), we might be able to give only a very small partial refund.

But as I said we are working on something new, I request all of you to be a little more patient. We are going to announce something very unique, very exciting and very affordable next week. We really can't give out much details as of now, but in our opinion this would essentially be the final evolution in Bitcoin mining.

All of you know that we have demonstrated the ability to produce and run the boards. We were the first one to successfully assemble a K16, and we were the first to start mining with a fully assembled K16 as well. And we will again demonstrate the ability to mass produce boards once we get the chips.

In my opinion, instead of taking a decision of behalf of everyone and pressing Avalon for refunds, we give everyone the following options individually:

a) If you want 100% refund, you need to give us 3 months time. We fully acknowledge that we are legally required to issue a refund when asked. Legal issues aside, we ourselves want to do the right thing to maintain our credibility. But the fact is we do not have enough liquidity right now to process all the refund requests. If you are willing to settle for a partial refund right now, please contact us and we can work something out.
b) Keep your order with us. We deliver it within the promised time (2 weeks of receiving the chips). We will also give you a 20% (of your current order) credit for our next project which we will be announcing next week. This credit will be transferable (you can sell it if you want).

I hope you understand that we are doing this despite the fact that the current situation is NOT our fault. Everyone who ordered from us were totally aware of the risks involved. Also 20-25% was our average profit per order. So even with option 'b', we are willing to make 0 profit from this whole Avalon saga, just for the sake our next project and to maintain long-term credibility for our company.

We would love to hear your comments on this.

forgot to mention, I love the program regardless of problems getting it to work.
(will make a lot easier switching mining pools and coins)

same issue, with 2 USB block erupters.
BFGminer works fine, CGwatcher crashes...

Hi!

I encounter some problems;
It seems that it's not working properly after all:

When I start CGWatcher and import these files:

first file is just cgminer-nogpu
second file code:
Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://eu-stratum.btcguild.com:3333",
"user" : "dnaleor_blockErupter",
"pass" : "123"
},
{
"url" : "http://mint.bitminter.com:8332",
"user" : "dnaleor_backup",
"pass" : "123"
}
]
,
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin",
"icarus-options" : "115200:1:1",
"icarus-timing" : "3.0=100"
}

When I click 'start mining' in CGWatcher, the command window starts, works a few seconds, and than it's gone and i get this error:

**********

The strange thing is that if I don't use CGWatcher, everything works just fine.
Also, when I use this routine, CGWatcher runs perfectly:
1) start CGMiner
2) click 'start mining' in CGWatcher (a second command window opens)
3) quit (with key q) the first command window (1)
4) restart in CGWatcher the second command window running CGMiner
5) hashing works, statistics work etc

Also, when I don't plug in the Block Erupter I'm using and just click start Mining in CGWatcher (without the routine!) I get NO errors and everything works (except the hashing off course)

Does anybody has an idea what I do wrong?

494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 22, 2013, 08:50:43 PM
Update:

thx

welcome, and now that you're here, you have to wait 5 posts to be let out of the sandbox.

rediculous, but I suppose it stops the spammers.

I'm still not convinced that Terrahash purchases are a sure loser assuming they ship in the next four weeks so folks need to stop freaking out and put things in perspective.

For example, if you bought a K64, and overclock each chip to 350 MHz, you're looking at ~$40 / GHs. For comparison purposes, I don't see anything that can be ordered right now and will ship in September for that price.

KncMiner purchasers can expect an optimistic October delivery. BitFury purchasers are also looking at an October delivery. AsicMiner products are still priced at around $100 / GHs. Who knows when CoinTerra and Hashfast will deliver. New BFL orders are looking at a 2014 delivery date... :-)

It's very unfortunate, but with the exception of AsicMiner and they more than make up for it with the price they charge, almost all ASIC pre-orders are delivered late.

I assume that Terrahash also has some leeway to ease the late delivery and stop mass refund requests by either offering buyers more a higher hashrate than they purchased, a discount on future orders, or offering free overnight shipping.

Terrahash can build 156 K64s out of a 10k chip order, which will bring in at over $140k not counting folks who also purchased complete miners with cases (those should have higher margins). So, we can assume that Terrahash spent less than half of what they brought in on Avalon chips, so they certainly have room to sweeten the deal a bit for the delivery delay...

Bear in mind they also have the cost of overheads growing day, by day, whilst they wait needlessly. Not huge in the scheme of things, but significant enough to take into account.

Good point, and also bear in mind that KncMiner, HashFast, and CoinTerra have not even demonstrated a hashing Asic chip yet, so keep that in mind when looking at their promised delivery dates...

Don't forget the other 600,000 chips that are likely to be used. That alone will leap frog difficulty in addition to those companies whether they come out with chips or not.

Which is 210 Terahashes if ALL of them are running at 350MH.

I don't expect all of them to run at 350MH nor do I expect all of them will be running.

But either way, that's >150TH added regardless

gets more and more depressing... should just sell my K64 and K16 and use the money to take a vacation..sigh
