481  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Dailybitcoins.org] Bitcoin faucet, sponsored by ads on: November 30, 2013, 01:29:05 AM
It happens to me maybe 2-3 times a day, so that's way over 0.01%.
Did you clicked "Send" button within 2 minutes after quote appeared? If not, prizes gone to another users exactly as described in FAQ.

I think there's a bug where the site sometimes shows one of the non-booby prizes to more than one person and only the first person to submit gets it and the others get the booby prize. This has happened to me many times, and even once while in a chat with somebody else who got the same prize as me at the same time, but he filled out the captcha first and got the credit. That person confirmed the same had happened to him a couple of times in the past. Maybe this problem is occurring more often because of the site's recent burst in traffic.
It is a known issue which causes incorrect prize display (you see a non-booby prize on the image, however it was already taken by someone else and therefore you receive booby prize in fact).
This database synchronization problem emerge very rarely, less than 0.01% of cases during extreme peak load time. Unfortunately Daily Bitcoins is just hobbyist project so I cannot afford installing real-time computing system that being used in fault-tolerant appliances like aviation and nuclear power plants. If you was affected, please sorry for the inconvenience!
483  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Dailybitcoins.org] Bitcoin faucet, sponsored by ads on: November 28, 2013, 06:38:37 PM
I've gone from almost always getting a voucher with every "win" to almost never getting one, has something changed?
We give away vouchers as usually, just number of visitors increased 5-10 times last month. During peak load voucher giveaway can be suspended for some (milli)seconds when 2 users simultaneously requesting payout (to prevent giving the same code to 2 different users).

With the rise in BTC are you considering any alt coin versions of DBC?
Yes, I will consider adding altcoins, but only when LTC/PPC/NMC will be more widely accepted by merchants who buy ads.
484  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Daily Bitcoins - New advertising type with efficiency superior to banner ads! on: November 28, 2013, 04:50:48 AM
I keep getting "disable ad blocker" after I submit my address and captcha, but the ad blocker is disabled on my computer/browser.
Make sure you see all banners on appropriate places fully loaded. Advertising networks sometimes go offline or performing too slow...
485  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can non residents take advantage of Germany position towards bitcoin? on: November 27, 2013, 11:52:10 PM
I could end up being taxed in my country of citizenship according to its laws regardless of where the income came from.
Only two countries in the world tax their citizens living abroad: U.S. and Eritrea. Therefore a lot of wealthy Americans give up their citizenship.
486  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can non residents take advantage of Germany position towards bitcoin? on: November 27, 2013, 10:34:45 PM
Maybe even move to Germany for a while, but what would constitute "moving"? Renting a house there? Getting a job?
Most countries have a legal definition of the "tax resident", which typically is a person who lived more than 180 days last year in this country. No matter if you own or rent property, work or sit on welfare here, it is all about time spent in this jurisdiction.

490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Namecoin boom is coming on: November 27, 2013, 12:57:46 AM
Look at all these numerous Bitcoin forks - they provide almost nothing over BTC while have far less security. You could argue that Litecoin has half confirmation time comparing to BTC, but it means nothing when thinking about waiting 5 minutes instead of 10 in grocery store's queue.

Only one cryptocurrency that offer something unique is Namecoin IMHO. It has real potential to explode when major browsers (Firefox and Chrome) will add .bit domains support. Just think about casinos, poker rooms, online pharmacies, torrent trackers and many other "rogue" industries that currently annoyed with domain seizures and will be really appreciated with government-independent domain system.
491  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Norway Will Tax Bitcoin + VAT on: November 25, 2013, 01:16:46 AM
Same otherwise , breaking the law is just stupid sometimes.
People can simply weight the risks and go for it.
Or , they could try an change the laws , which It might be the better solution , right?
Norway is highly welfare state, I would say even more socialist than USSR had been. So you really think its govt will change tax laws and reduce perks for idlers (which are large part of the electoral base)?!
Ignoring this idiotic law is only one option available IMHO.
492  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Dailybitcoins.org] Bitcoin faucet, sponsored by ads on: November 24, 2013, 03:13:08 PM
Minimum Bitcoin deposit for advertisers reduced to 0.0005 BTC.
493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Norway Will Tax Bitcoin + VAT on: November 22, 2013, 03:58:41 PM
I hope Norwegians will ignore these absurd laws!

BTW, some countries apply VAT even on the investment gold bars, nevertheless people still buying them VAT-free on the "unofficial" market.
494  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: escrow laws in the UK on: November 20, 2013, 04:43:50 AM
Consider offshore jurisdiction without any regulations and accounting requirements, e.g. British Virgin Islands.
BVI also has high company owners' secrecy and never disclose data to the tax authorities of the foreign countries.
495  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: November 19, 2013, 03:46:52 PM
Could you reduce minimum transaction amount for the Receiving API? 0.001 BTC is worth $0.7 now...
496  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Daily Bitcoins reached 10,000 unique visitors per day on: November 19, 2013, 04:23:01 AM
I meant more of "where are the visitors being refereed from" (i.e google, etc)

497  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Dailybitcoins.org] Bitcoin faucet, sponsored by ads on: November 19, 2013, 04:13:31 AM
Due to 3-fold rise of the BTC price last month booby prize value have been adjusted accordingly. Custom prizes have left untouched, good luck catching them!

Pending prize expiration term have been increased to 60 days.
498  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Daily Bitcoins reached 10,000 unique visitors per day on: November 19, 2013, 04:06:59 AM
where are your visitors coming from?

499  Economy / Economics / Incentivizing to spent Bitcoins on: November 19, 2013, 02:24:36 AM
Very interesting dilemma - how merchants will lure customers to buy their goods or services for Bitcoin when most people will realize about deflationary properties of the Bitcoin and will spend their BTC very hardly?
Does it means that BTC will be only investment (savings) instrument without chances to be fiat (inflationary) currency replacement? Or may be merchants will include expected BTC/$ rise and offer generous discounts to motivate spending Bitcoins?
500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble just busted on: November 19, 2013, 02:12:08 AM
From $900 all-time high price have fallen to $600. How deep do you think correction will go?
By my opinion it will be $500-600.

And what's your opinion now?
May be it was a bear trap.
