Honestly, if you need transactions to clear really quickly I'd suggest using litecoin at this point.

Yes, it's a shitcoin, but if you've got a hooker in your room, she's done her job, and you want her gone (that's why you pay hookers: To leave) a 2.5 minute confirmation time is of high value. Right now standing around for 30 minutes doing idle chitshat is not worth any amount in fees :-)

Bitcoin transfers are instant.

Care to elaborate? Or are you just trying to grind lightfoots gears?
What is the question? The transfer happens immediately. The processing before it can be sent somewhere else takes a little while. Payment does not need processing for the payment to happen.

So you are basically saying accepting payments once they are in the mempool is fine, waiting for confirmations is for sissys?

Good luck then with your funds.

...guaranteed females and they will be handsome too...

Females... Handsome?  Shocked

Ah well, thanks for pointing out that you do not use handsome for ladies, wasn't really aware of that. I edited my post accordingly.

#sohomo

This is fine.

Holding bitcoin is always pretty stressful.

[...]

Not really. Not for me anyway. In fact, I've never slept better in my entire life since I became a HoDLer.

For a stress-free Bitcoin experience, you need 3 things:

1. Some capital to start you off, which you consider "already lost" the moment you exchange it for BTC.
2. Patience.
3. Believing in the idea/algorithm.

It's like a religion really, except that it is backed by science, and paradise is guaranteed to come in this lifetime.

cant wait for the 72 WO virgins waiting for me in heaven....

According to my local crypto priest there will be only 21 of them, but the good news is he said that they will be all guaranteed females and they will be handsome cute and always horny[1] too..
As modest as I am, I'd be fine with say 5-8 milfs. I mean I don't want to spend my afterlife listening to Kardashians gossip, makeup tutorials and obscure pimples treatment tips (72 times that is...). Thinking about it, just give me a handful copies of the missus, one for gardening, one for dishes etc., so I can spend all my time having fun with the the other two or three  Grin

the longer the "sell the news" dip fails to materialize...

I am pretty confident that already happened with the huge red candle on last sunday.
Me thinks its onwards and upwards for the foreseeable time coming.

But maybe it is just wishful thinking of me, I don't like big candles, no matter what color.

HELLO to all

I need your help and experience, community...

I've been mining dgb for some time,and carefully storing it in my wallet for the entire period.

I initially created two addresses for each of my miners.

 Everything was fine until recently when I updated the current wallet available.

At launch only one address appeared, I thought it was due to a synch problem.
but once fully synchronized, even so I only find one of my two addresses available.

 I have only the wallet.dat, unfortunately I didn't save the private keys of each address.

 What can I do? Do I have a possible recourse?

 It is also impossible for me via the latest version of the wallet to create a new receiving address.

 thank you all for your time and help

when you say 2 addresses - were they on the same priv key? or different priv keys? and anytime you do a back up - you should always keep copies/back up your wallet files.

 I confess I'm not in a position to answer properly...

I first had the initial address of any new wallet, then via the menu receive address I created another one.

 I didn't know it was possible to have more than one address with a private key.

 I often make backups but wallet.dat.

 never retrieved the private keys...

tell me there's still something I can do?Huh

 And is it normal that I can't create a new receiving address?
there is no more the little tab: "new", which creates a new address if needed...

Have you tried rescanning the blockchain for tx belonging to your wallet?
(starting the wallet with -rescan)

Let's just hope that the moon rocket body falling to earth today (might be pretty exactly in time for the halving blockheight) is no bad omen*:

*Of course it's not, rather we have the chance to get some free space ship parts in our yard, some of them could come handy once hodlers go to moon.

492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: May 11, 2020, 08:42:50 AM
Sometimes it is unavoidable to go through KYC, but it is extremly important to check the party to which you submit your documents beforehand.

I guess for some exchanges KYC is just an alternate income stream (by selling this data) while other exchanges indeed just try to comply with the law.

One extreme example I encountered is Crex24 for which I created a Scam accusation recently after they suddenly and out of the blue went "you need KYC to withdraw":

493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] New Crypto Currency FRANKO [v0.16][Resurrection] on: May 10, 2020, 03:13:44 PM
Is Franko really supposed to halve only every ~22.5 mio blocks ?
At roughly 1 mio blocks per year this would amount to >20 yrs to first halving..

       consensus.nSubsidyHalvingInterval = 22471626;

CAmount GetBlockSubsidy(int nHeight, const Consensus::Params& consensusParams)
{
    int halvings = nHeight / consensusParams.nSubsidyHalvingInterval;
    // Force block reward to zero when right shift is undefined.
    if (halvings >= 64)
        return 0;

    CAmount nSubsidy = 0.25 * COIN;
    // Subsidy is cut in half every 210,000 blocks which will occur approximately every 4 years.
    nSubsidy >>= halvings;
    return nSubsidy;
}

Just put in an order my wife has been preparing for the past month. Though the low price gave me an excuse to tell her she couldn't shop.

seriously? and she actually didnt shop?

cool. my wife just stays on the gas pedal. i cant see how the post office loses money when just what she alone buys online should keep it afloat.

We have to absolutely resist the SSP* !

I see it myself dramatically rising whenever we approach 10k, the prospect of how big this will become once we hit 50k scares the shit out of me.

Must have been more than a week since I played Zaxxon from datasette (the cool guys run it from floppy nowadays)  Grin

my buds and i wasted more time playing archon on the c64 than anything else i can remember doing from back in the day. wore out several joysticks just on that one game until i bought the Big Red Stick (i think that was the name)

best game ever.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archon:_The_Light_and_the_Dark

time to fire up an emulator. maybe build an proper arcade cabinet.

Ah, the screenshot rang a bell but was not into it much.  Though I wasted half my youth in front of a C64, notably I never played again really after that.
Regarding joystick killing,
Decathlon was unbeatable in that regard. One afternoon with friends and the microswitches in the joystick were done for good.

In retrospect it was a really stupid game, but great for competition between friends and perfect training for later in youth when similar hand movement without joystick started to prevail.

<snip>

EDIT: wasnt the 8 for the disk drive and the 1 meant load at a specified addy provided by the program (not the standard addy it would default to if it was BASIC or something).. been a while.

You are totally right, I am sorry. 8 is first floppy, 9 second floppy etc, 1 is for the datasette. *

You guys with your stacked terabyte HDD’s. I’ll stick to the 1.44 MB not so floppy disks, conveniently strung together with a little help of ARJ. Even has a read only switch for eternal storage. Who needs blockchains.

you techies with your advanced devices. pfffft

still rockin my TRS-80 and C64 cassette drives.

my Columbia IBM clone has a cassette interface too but i never used it. those full height 5.25 floppies were the bomb.

EDIT the TRS-80 also had several 8 inch floppies hooked to it at one point.

Oh those times...

Code:
LOAD ZAXXON,8,1

<10mins waiting, enjoying sound of tape slowly moving>

LOAD ERROR

Afternoon spoiled.
498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 04, 2020, 11:09:31 AM

tree huggers must be going ballistic here. after fighting seemingly forever to ban single use plastic bags in favor of those reusable recycled ones (you know the reusable ones people put on their filth infested floors/counters and such at home, then bring back to plunk on a supermarket checkout) they have now banned those disgusting germ ridden bags and brought clean, sanitary single use plastc bags back. by law.

they should of thought about how filthy most people are before all that reuseable bag shit was law but treehuggers and such arent really known for thinking things through.

Nothing to do with plastic bags per se, but with throwing your trash into the ocean. The latter is definitely stupid but still practised widely in ocean-side cities.

Banning plastic bags is just the stupid kind of doing something that doesn't hurt our lifestyle but shows everybody how greatly we care for environment.
499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 04, 2020, 10:59:59 AM

Yeah sorry everything is cancelled

Seriously, 9.4k was a gift

You should copy and paste this comment in a few months time and it will make more sense. 9.4k will be retrospectively seen as a gift for buyers by then.

I somewhat agree with HairyMaclairy, I have the feeling that the halving is priced in and we might revisit 7xxx soon and 5-figures are at least some months away still.

Would love to be proven wrong, but honestly I don't care as long as we're not going sub 5k.

The rumors have been bought in the last weeks, now it's time for selling the news.

Admittedly that's all SOMA TA, but based on past experience in halvings in LTC and BTC.

I'll just hodl it through, sideways between 7k and 9k is fine for me.

The pictures I say of these brutes were scarier.

They seem like they are playing out their personal fantasy more than anything else.

Yes, but right now their personal fantasy and reality is one and the same, and that must be a great feeling for them.
They are going to pester their grandchildren with these stories forever,

Please, tell me this is only a Rambo themed LARP gathering (I really have to ask, one never knows in Trumpistan)

[Edited to add]: Now if they would be singing Alabama 3's "Mao Tse-Tung said change must come, Change must come thru the barrel of a gun" - that would be a priceless moment to record.
