BINGO!Whats wrong with legal attention? A scam is a scam regardless. Just because bitcoins were used does not make any difference. Obviously I agree that those who were scammed are not the brightest bunch and their money is gone, but if people are allowed to get away with fraud, it will never end.

I dont think its up to pool ops to take position on this. What if Pirate had a mining operation, should pool ops ban him? What if pirate buys hashrate from gigavps, should pools ban giga?
Miners can vote with their feet and stop using gpumax (at current prices, its no big loss), but I think its unreasonable to demand pool ops to do this.
Its all about the BCST accounting as it shared, shares wallets with GPUmax. It should be eliminated as long as the trails of the loot are not obvious. Its in the interest of the means to a fair judgement communitywise , when the die is cast. My two coins Zyk |

If it ends up this was a ponzi there are going to be hardly any funds to seize.
I don't understand why. Of course I am convinced he doesn't have anywhere near 500k, but still .. he ran away with a huge sum of bitcoins and if he hasn't spent them yet (quite unlikely if you ask me) there's still a (theoretical) chance to get a considerable portion of them back. I only doubt the community has enough balls to make him pay in the first place. They're just doing some ritual dances around photos of his family and nothing happened. Damn, some of you live a few hours away from him. Why not pay him a personal visit? If you break his jaw without witnesses at least he'll understand you're serious. I'm sure he's monitoring these threads and so far there has been nothing he should be worried about. No amount of bitcoins/money is worth committing a felony premeditated assault over. I do concur, for there's a myriad of options available to make Trendon Shavers' life miserable without committing a felony, albeit some misdemeanor acts may be involved. Block chain evidence, and no at times it seems he dipped into negative value however at the end it is clear he was up. Many people seemed to give him a lot of money once everyone started telling ponzi.
I agree we do not need to know what happened before we file a complain and we might not ever know. However collect evidence just seemed like the right first step. Part of this step is who is owed what and to see if the want to file a complaint as well. Sadly many large PPT operators at this time seem to not want to join us. There are people whose personal responsibility in this matter is greater than that of most everyone else, people who have in effect acted as lieutenants for the random idiot. This thread is a convenient spot for all of them to avoid the indignity of being called out, and instead freely and willingly admit their mistake, and by admitting it learn from it. Specifically, learn that they aren't nearly as qualified as they thought to play the "banker", and by this make one step towards maybe one day actually being bankers.
The wanna-be bankers are not alone in their hour of humiliation. There are plenty of others who spend their entire day spouting nonsense on this forum, either under the guise of being "journalists" for some monthly magazine that does a couple issues a year or just as random internet experts in everything. Obviously they won't be learning anything on this opportunity as they haven't learned anything on any of the previous ones in their lives. That's after all fine, what would a mining town be without the drunks and general scum?
Aside from these practical considerations, there are some more general points to be taken home by anybody who wants to be a little smarter today than last month, and possibly have a little better shot at actually making money than before.
1. Learn the pecking order. All opinions are not equal. Some people are to be respected. Learn who. Some people are irrelevant and easily ignored. Learn who. More importantly than the who, learn why. Is it just because "everyone else seems to think so"? That's no good, forget it. Is it because they were right when everyone else was wrong? That's perfect, especially if it occurs with any sort of consistency.
5. Re-read this entire post. It probably didn't fully sink in on the first pass. Seriously. Alternatively it is always easier to just not like me. You will lose money.
