Vanitygen gives you a private key that you need to import for you to be able to use the address.

1. Use RevoUnistaller to remove Bitcoin-qt. Do a full removal, remove left over files and any registry entries. 2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries and install that. 3. Try installing it again.

Qt should not allow bitcoin addresses as labels.
So they'd limit what you can have as a label? Sounds absurd to be honest, this was obviously a mistake on the OPs side.

The transaction ID is a good starting point. If the Blockchain is reporting it as being sent to another address then it's an issue with BIPS.

I had the same problem on a Windows OS after closing down the client, it's the first time I've seen the error.

Use LocalBitcoins.com to find a seller near you.
|
|

Try using another browser.

Have you tried LocalBitcoins.com?
|
|
|
Have you tried filtering the payment option on LocalBitcoins to online payments? You can use your bank and escrow so you know the seller has the coins.

Use RevoUnistaller, do a full clean which will remove all directories and registry entries.
Bitcoin-Qt stores NOTHING in the registry. Windows on the other hand may store some information of what was last run/installed though. You're right, it doesn't apart from some URL handling rules. Was just giving the OP another option if he wanted to remove all existing traces of it. IE, a fresh clean install.

So tell exactly what did you learn?
It is secret because, scammers also watching this thread. If you're gonna do this whole sockpuppet thing, it would be more useful to remember which sockpuppet to use for which purpose. This one for instance was used at the wrong place at the wrong time. You're not very good at this. Coincidentally I am now offering my introductory course "Persona(l) management - a guide to keeping your alts... alt" at a low low price of only 19.99 BTC. Take advantage of this incredible offer in the month of July 2013. Vouch - user gave me everything I needed including a handy pre filled Excel spreadsheet to log all my alts, good luck with sales.

So, who have you caught out and what measures do you take to make sure there's no false identification? It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens when you essentially start a witch hunt on the wrong person.

Could you be more specific? Letting us know the full address you sent to so we can look it up on the blockchain would be a great start.

You won't be able to ban sock puppets completely. You can discourage them but rest assured if someone wants to make an anonymous account on your forum and use it as a sock puppet, it will happen. The only thing you can do as a website administrator is make sure you do everything possible by your abilities.

Is WU the only payment method you'll take?

I PM'd you. I've been exchanging on forums since 2009.

Thanks for the advice, I wouldn't take PayPal unless I was 100 percent sure the funds are safe. Most of the time people get denied because they just can't verify the information I need to go ahead. Since I've started this I've only taken 2 PayPal payments.
