Yes there are telling signs to watch for when you pick a coin, so far I've invested in BTC in 2011 which grew exponentially as it had great people involved, Ripple XRP early in the year which has went up over 2700% again due to great people, and then finally IFC which seems to have a great set of people involved also and I expect that to have a similar rise of 2000%+

There was no coins-e.com and cryptsy at that time that quickly list the new alt coins. There was also a lot of scams that during that time do you want like that? Manual trading and not safe?

Hey Scammer, Who are you to to tell us what we should mine? The government can 51% atack bitcoin and litecoin with less than 20 million usd. The only promise now is this new alt coins that has practically evolve through trial and error. This new coins that is suitable for ecommerce and asic and 51% resistant will take over bitcoin and litecoin in less than 3 years.
