481  Local / India / Re: Bitcoin declared illegal in India? on: March 24, 2017, 10:36:44 AM
And what's with punishing people using bitcoin!

I know, right?
The RBI announcement stated that using Bitcoin is not illegal, but people should be careful while using them.

It is probably a false rumor.

Although I don't know why these newspapers publish things they are not sure about. Creating false info is bad for business.
Got a call from two of my regular buyers asking about this and they seemed worried.

Not going to believe anything until it comes from the RBI.

I am sick and tired of the nonsense these newspapers try to pull off just for the sake of publicity. Give them freedom of press and they abuse it.

If it is indeed true then its a bad thing for all the bitcoin startups, exchanges and individual traders like me.

Maybe Benson can elaborate on this if he reads this.

I wouldn't have really cared if it was a blog post or something like that.
I started the thread because it was posted in Hindustan Times.

I agree. I'm not believing this till RBI comes out with a statement.

Many things have been declared pretty much illegal according to indian law. However, given the state of corruption in all levels of the government and even among the locals. Add to the fact that a good bitcoin holder with the relevant knowledge would be pretty hard to find, how do you supposed it will even be enforced if it is banned? Haha

It's not about Bitcoin being banned. It can't be.
But the effect this decision would have on Bitcoin start-ups & traders.

Just saw this article somewhere.
Not sure about the legitimacy of the same.

What are your views on it:

Stupid question : do we have to give our private key to the app ?

We are only adding public address to the app, with the NFC we can chose on which one we receive.
And if we use the QR, it automatically go to the main one.

correct ?
If so, looks good !!

Hey Guigui371,

We won't ask you for your private key as it would be a security concern for you.

Like you said, you'll only be adding public addresses to the card which would be accessible through the NFC tag.
The primary address that you select would be on the QR code.

Hope this helps. Smiley

Thanks for your kind words.

486  Local / India / Re: Amit Bhardwaj/Kumar and a HashOcean clone called Gainbitcoin. on: March 16, 2017, 02:35:32 PM
Apart from that they are also stealing from payout as transaction fee, the said payout is lesser than what it suppose to be. Payout transaction fee is low like hell that their transactions are taking 3-4 days to confirm. This is their another source of income.

By that manual process they already stopped people who invested .5 and .1 BTC contracts to get their payouts because the withdrawal request can't be made lesser than .05 BTC. Its all about that they don't want to pay the people.

Exactly. They've also already started stealing funds. If the Coinbank team processes withdrawals manually, the Bitcoins should not be lost if the user looses the backup phrase. Makes no sense to me at all. I've read more than 3 instances of the Coinbank team telling their users have their BTC because they didn't write down the backup phrase. What a load of BS.

If you loose your backup phrase or misspellings the same. You will lost your valuable Bitcoin. No system for get back of your Bitcoin. My friend lost 1.5 BTC

Do we have enough evidence to file an FIR?
487  Local / India / Re: Amit Bhardwaj/Kumar and a HashOcean clone called Gainbitcoin. on: March 15, 2017, 03:34:16 PM
By going through some of the comments on the Play store, I see that they process manual withdrawals but also have a 12 character private key.

*****PLEASE TEAM OPPOSE THE MANUAL WITHDRAWAL PROCESS***** This is something we do not want as we have invested our BTC with multiple accounts and now OUR BTC STUCK WITH GB. Other Programs do auto withdrawal only and with the wallet they want. ONLY GB IS FORCING FOR COIN BANK WHICH TAKES HELL LOT OF TIME FOR TRANSACTION TO BE COMPLETE. THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLE OF SUPPORT TEAM AND WE HAVE TO WAIT WAIT AND WAIT FOR TRANSACTION TO BE CONFIRMED HERE. I am so pissed with this app as other mention with

Check here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.coinbank.wallet&hl=en

What I don't understand is, if they have access to the Bitcoins, what's the point of the private key?
And if that really is a private key, it would be a good experiment to try to import it in some other application to see if the funds are still there.
Because it seems that the wallets are not really on-chain wallets and the private key is just a sham to look legit.

Would be worth a try.  If it does work, it would be easier for users to withdraw their funds then.

Looking through the comments, it also seems like they are charging a high fee for withdrawals, but not paying it to the miners as the tx doesn't get confirmed for 3-4 days.

Can anyone here share their experience with Amit's shit application?

489  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BEWARE OF BANDITS Killyou72 FRAUD IMPERSONATOR on: March 13, 2017, 06:10:29 PM
Hear, hear..

Always double triple check who you are working with, check for a recently changed password, ask them to sign a staked address if in doubt, heed that PM newb warning..

Scammers are professionals, some, and have a thousand tricks up their sleeves.. I think I saw a killyou73 floating around somewhere also..

Killyou73 is a legit alt account of Killyou72.
I think he created that because he was locked out of his account.

491  Local / India / Re: Anyone know about any 3D-Secure Bitcoin Debit Card? on: March 11, 2017, 10:49:56 AM
I've a couple of CoinsBank Bitcoin Cards and they work pretty well in India. I've used them at some ATM, restaurants etc to pay for stuff. Works like a charm.

Tried paying with it on Flipkart, didn't work.. I'd be interested knowing some alternatives for this as well.

493  Local / India / Re: Bitxoxo withdrawal trouble on: March 10, 2017, 02:23:04 PM
They must have made this claim when there was less number of withdrawal request at their exchange and now with increasing number of users, their withdrawal request must have increased as well.
They should now make it automated.

I don't think they should've made this claim at all. Because it's not feasible at all.
There's no way to automate Fiat deposits & withdrawals at the moment. They have to be processed manually.
494  Local / India / Re: Amit Bhardwaj/Kumar and a HashOcean clone called Gainbitcoin. on: March 10, 2017, 02:19:18 PM
Was just checking LinkedIn and Amit Bhardwaj hasn't mentioned "GainBitcoin" in his experience.
He has mentioned every other "project" that he is working on, except GainBitcoin. I wonder why.  Roll Eyes

Also, you should check out the comments on his articles on there.

"we will offer this refund until April 5, 2017.  After this date, and due to the price volatility of Bitcoin, we simply cannot be sure we will have the funds necessary to refund stolen BTC. "
Really?  You're at fault and you set a very short window to claim.  There are probably only 4-5 people who have claimed at this point.  That's ridiculous!

I agree. If you're concerned about the volatility of Bitcoin, set a $$ rate for them that you can afford to pay. If people claim their Bitcoins after 4th, just pay them the $$ value in Bitcoin.
496  Local / India / Re: Bitxoxo withdrawal trouble on: March 09, 2017, 10:00:59 AM
Maybe they process withdrawal/deposit manually and this could possibly the reason.

Yes, it probably is.
All the fiat deposits and withdrawals are manual in all exchanges. Bitxoxo shouldn't have claimed to complete withdrawals in 30 mins.

Not really feasible.
497  Local / India / Re: Bitxoxo withdrawal trouble on: March 09, 2017, 09:09:39 AM
Trustworthiness and poor service are two different things. If your service is poor and not according to industry standards, nobody is going to use it no matter how trustworthy and big name you may have.I hope such technical glitches and bugs should be fixed on priority basis

I agree.

Well it could be seen this way as well like if you become trustworthy which is the first thing for any business to be grown. And if you are trustworthy then automatically you will ensure that things are in pipeline and best and fast service is provided to customers so that they do not go to other competitors.

Here it is one of the case itself and also we haven't heard yet other side of the story from Bitxoxo that due to which the payment was delayed. So let us wait for their comment.

What he said. ^^

I can get custom merchandise printed for you at cost effective prices.
What all do you need?
499  Local / India / Re: Bitxoxo withdrawal trouble on: March 08, 2017, 12:07:01 PM
That sucks.
Bitxoxo is a relatively new exchange but they seem trustworthy.

Try sending a PM to techsuvidha.

500  Local / India / Re: Axis, HDFC, ICICI banks will charge Rs.150 per transaction after 4 transaction on: March 08, 2017, 11:44:34 AM
This govt and banks backed by govt are scaling new height of harassment and exploitation. Could you imagine what this means to the traders and farmers, people from rural India. These moves on curbing cash transactions will backfire. People will tend to keep less money in banks.

I agree. This will eventually backfire as people will definitely prefer keeping cash instead of depositing them in their accounts.
I think our government agrees with us too.

Check this out:

http://www.livemint.com/Industry/l117UuuhjEbjSXTSKmK4oO/Govt-asks-SBI-to-reconsider-cash-withdrawal-charges-minimum.html

I personally think that they'll just add "exceptions" to these charges for people from rural areas, but probably not traders. Smiley
