4821  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 29, 2015, 03:52:00 AM
I like your optimism in ordering ~10 S7 or ~20K worth in one "gulp".
Apart from it being a business, i don't see the need.
I can always buy the coin and for fun 1,2 machines are just fine.

S7 gets better every time and with every shipping.

My first two were underperformed, with high HV rate. (Pictures sent for warranty)
Two weeks after this  two , I had a more better 2 x S7 with 600 stickers.

After that 8 x S7 and all are 4,8TH/s or better. No stickers.
11 are already on the way.
8 not shipped yet.
So I am optimistic,  but still not satisfied with S5+ boards  build quality. Only one out of three is not needed for repairs.
I still think that with S5+ I got scammed with Bitmain China poor Guarantee service.

Scammed no.
Screwed  yes.

Scammed  would mean they never sent a thing or none of it worked.

Some worked  some did not.  And we all know that they do not have good rma.  So I would say your were shortchanged or overcharged but not scammed.

I am disappointed with my batch 2 delivery of the s-7  and I feel I along with quite a few others have been overcharged or shortchanged.  About 1 btc.  Most likely it is lost.  My best hope is Avalon has a decent model 6.  Or hell coins go to 1000 and I sell off some.

Part of it is luck to.   Like Tupsu had a horrible experience with S5+ .  I have documented my journy with mine and could not be happier - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1157426.0

Same comes to shipping on this some seem to be much luckier on S7 shipping then others.   Is that right.... no not really.  But is it a scam... I would agree no.

Just like compensation was so low right.... no.  But was it well within their judgement right to make... yes.  So some things are done right but results are not fun for customer.
4822  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 29, 2015, 03:46:32 AM
Those are firmware upgrades, not complete images ( correct me if I'm wrong).  They get upgraded through the GUI interface from your S4 not written to the SD card.  Well at least not written by you. Roll Eyes

I'm not sure which one that is by title of download.  But with S4 the nice thing is you can write directly to SD from a backup and stick SD back in S4 and it works.  It's good if playing around with firmware to have a backup.

Others you are right you have to update via gui if a firmware upgrade file.
4823  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 29, 2015, 03:39:54 AM
what is interesting is the 10 minimum for purchase. So another will have to resell or group buy.

Most likely group buy, as for a re seller to have 10k in one product in-stock that is getting to pretty big re sellers.   Only thing that kinda stinks is that with this most likely no discount for group buy.

I like when you go through trouble of GB there is a discount or something in it for both sides.
4824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can i earn with bitcoin please? on: October 29, 2015, 02:40:56 AM
well there are several ways of earning real money with bitcoins the best one is to get bitcoins for example by participating in signature campaigns and then sell it on exchange for real money
"real money"... i think you are on the wrong forum.

BTC is real money it's crypto currency vs fiat money.  But both are forms of monetary value.  And of course BTC value changes much more then fiat in most cases.

But the reason BTC is not free is that it's a forum of money.
4825  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 29, 2015, 02:34:47 AM
I get the same comms error, I've reported it in a few threads but never had any response as to what causes it or how to make it go away.  I get the same error using my U3 with bfgminer on this same machine, so I think it may be hardware related and not actually have anything to do with bfg.

On this machine I currently have 2 gekko sticks and 2 nanofury usb sticks.  I do not get comm errors with only the nanofury sticks, but once I plug in the compacs or the U3 the errors pop up.  Since the compac used to be recognized as a U3 I think that's a hint as to where the issue is.

The good news is my devices seem to hash along just fine, despite the error.  The only problem is that eventually, after 8-24 hours, the hash drops to almost nothing pool side while bfg still reports full hash speed.  At that point I just restart bfgminer and unplug/replug the miners, that's the only work around I've managed to come up with.

Pool side reports a bit lower than bfg, probably a result of the comms error.

Yeah I went to another home of a forum member as I had promised to set up bfgminer with five sticks. It worked on his setup.

I was doing it on windows 7 but in a vm on a Mac. Thus the error.

I think it is because I recently upgraded the Mac os

What are your thoughts on bfgminer vs cgminer after trying both?  I have been using cgminer as novak seemed to do a great one of it.

I was curious if you noticed any pro's or con's.   It sounded like bfgminer was getting better after update on able to use freq, but was not sure if worth trying.

Okay  when I set bfgminer up on a windows 7 at BuySolar's house it was a bit buggy but we got it to do 5 sticks at 60gh on bitminer.

It was okay.

Nothing compares to linux debian  running cgminer  I get 25 days of uptime or better close to prefect hw's.

I just need to spend time learning linux as it really seems to be good for these sticks.

I pulled the biggest stick share I have ever done today!

http://solo.ckpool.org/workers/1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.philipma1957sticks

"bestshare": 2,281,962,537.7536292

2 billion plus not bad!

Thanks for sharing comparison I was wondering how it works.

I have been using a RPI version b.  It really does just work great.  I have thought about uploading image but not sure if anyone would use it.  I have it set up for icarus (reviewer and prototype compacs) and compac with cgminer.  I run 2 instances of cgminer and it works very well.  I love the setup.
4826  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New to Mining need help ! on: October 29, 2015, 02:28:34 AM
I live in Kuwait where if anyone works in the government they get free electricity and my dad works there so its not a concern to me I just want to know the best hardware to get without worrying about electricity cost

This is good the above question about how many amps you have is good to know.  Also I'm not familiar with Kuwait is it 220/240? Or 110/120?

But after figuring that out the next thing is sound do you have extra room, or area to put miners in?  Or will they be in a shared room?  This makes a HUGE difference.
4827  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: October 29, 2015, 01:15:37 AM
Hey marco, my payment hasn't been sent yet, is it paused due to the post quality check?
I would think because of blockchain chaos from the above posts. Not automatic anymore, they have to manually put them out.

I am going to be going through all participants again and will be removing users who are posting nonsense, spam or posts that are evidently being made solely for signature earnings.
This is good news! Grin
How would you be selecting the next batch of participants? By the one's who posted requests on the thread or on a special case-by-case basis?

He does not mention opening spots.  If he sees a bunch he might open spot's but he has not said anything about adding.  But I suspect hes pretty busy if going through everyone posts.

I'm sure we will hear more as he has time to look though posts.  But a lot were brought in during last round so not sure if this means open spots or not.

Currently it is closed unless you bring something special, but you do need to be full member.   Once you hit full member and if you feel you bring something special PM macro, but you really do need something special.
4828  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Faucets on: October 29, 2015, 01:00:48 AM
I've tried to gain substantial amounts of BTC from endless faucets but havent had any luck thus far...are they're any good ones out there to make a fast come up or is it all pointless?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, Im new!

Pretty much pointless, unless you have many, many refs on freebitco.in or you own some bigger faucet, otherwise it's pointless.

Yes may be with huge number of referrals we can make some decent profits from faucets. Other wise faucets may kill our earning time. Owning a big faucet is not feasible for many people here. Only selective faucets may help collecting some satoshi.

Getting a lot of referrals is pretty much impossible.  I think we can all agree on this.  Saying to someone hey you can make a few cents a hour and make me the same use this link! Does not bring people running to it.

The ones I consider smart are faucet rotators they wrote a program to keep you doing faucets over and over... each one uses the makers referral ID.  So that is the "new" way to get someone to use a referrer and some don't even know it when using the rotator.

Just watch this video, awesome idea Smiley
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mmt9JHmKss

Thanks for sharing I'm not the most artsy person.  But I found this to be very interesting.  I would not put the BTC logo on it.

But people seeing it depending on paint might suspect paper weight or something.  Most will not think a paper wallet is inside of it.  I would do a little more on protection of paper in it in case it leaks when making or something bad.
4830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to move my wallet from blockchain.info to an other provider? on: October 29, 2015, 12:53:51 AM
If your doing it to get away from blockchain simply importing will work on many wallets. If you want to have more security you would send to a cold storage wallet.

This you would have to pay Transaction fees, but if going for security this would do it.  You will have switched from hot to cold wallet.  So kinda depends on how far you want to go.
4831  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: laptop into miner on: October 29, 2015, 12:50:48 AM
Why people still wanted to mine with laptops, also isn't a good idea with normal pcs, laptop will be broken in few days, isn't made for high load work.

Why is since most people have one.  Even say college kids on budget, or other situations.   So just very popular.

Why 3/4th don't search laptop mining I can't explain it.  It seems like a lot of people think they are going to find a anwser other then no by asking.

4833  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 29, 2015, 12:41:01 AM
Yes, I didn't mean Avalon would adjust pricing just that Bitmain may bow to the competition and release a price competitive miner.

Anyone know electric costs in San Francisco area?  Avalon seems to have wised up and got a US
distributor this time finally.  That is what hurt their sales previously with the 4.1 and if I can
remember you couldn't buy them as a single unit.

San Francisco is not going to be one of the cheapest.  I suspect with such a large amount they got a better then average contract though.  10 MW facility gives you a lot of leverage when talking to electric company.

I suspect SF was picked based on location more then the cheapest price. It would most likely be in Washington if they were looking for lowest price alone.
4834  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain on: October 29, 2015, 12:37:46 AM
Iam very happy using my Antminer u3+. Its very cheap by electricity. It would be great if Bitmain would bring up the next Antminer u4+ for ultra efficient Mining  Grin
If they could lower the powerconsumption that would be akward.

Otherwise i think a Antminer s7 BAtch 2 is at the Moment the best from the Guys out of Bitmain  Cool

lama-hunter

Really we don't know what they are doing on U series.   It would be nice to have U4 but not sure what will happen.

The good news is we know sidehack has been working on pods, that will be a huge upgrade from U3's.  So I'm excited about that to come.  Check here if you have not seen about it - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1203190.0
4835  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 29, 2015, 12:33:50 AM
OK, another stupid question from someone who is getting his S7 delivered tomorrow.  Since I will be using separate power supplies for the hash boards, is there any concern about overheating while turning them on one at a time with the control board psu being the last one to turn on?

I'm just curious since the worry about 'internet connection' issues and fans not cooling, when they're initially powered up is that any concern?

not a concern re overheating initially as it would take it a minute or so to situate itself on your network and then hashing will build up slowly (don't expect it to jump to to 4.86 in few seconds). Wait at least 1 hr before reaching any conclusion where your miner is operating as far as speed is concerned and if high errors is seen, try soft reboot in gui (I believe that it is in system pane).

I think that you are precisely correct when you say, "turning them on one at a time with the control board psu being the last one to turn on."  I have quite a few S7s now and have several powered by 3 power supplies and followed the power on procedure that you noted without any problems.

How many watt PSU per board do you use - all 3 the same or more on the controller board?

They made a huge deal about hashing board's first.  The biggest one was on S5+ they shipped me letter even with it among a ton of other warnings.

I have lost power just a few times and every time it comes back on no issues.  I am using bitmain PSU's on it.  But I think they were over cautious on this to do that.  They have warranty so tight if you do anything it voids warranty. I suspect it was for voiding warranty's on added items.
4836  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Bounty!] - blink LED on antminers on: October 29, 2015, 12:28:16 AM
Bitmain made this program for S5.

called  FoundYourMiner.exe   The red LED and beep.

Use and Enjoy

www.perearstike.ee/S5/Findyourminer.rar

Will it work for any model?  I have s4+ and s5+

If you want from a source closer from bitmain.  They have on the minerlink site that they never turned on. It's to find IP's https://www.minerlink.com/download.htm

It is - IPReporter that they are sharing there.
4837  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 29, 2015, 12:14:04 AM
Looks like Black Friday may come early this year for us..  Let the "Price War" begin!
As long as it's the least expensive and quietest I will buy it.  My luck that won't be the
trait of just one miner.

I was just discussing that with another user in PM. I think the problem is that Avalon doesn't really go into "Price wars" they seem to instead sell at a certain price and hold it, to recoup their costs.

Its possible that Bitmain will release a S7 lite at a price to undermine the value of the Avalon6, however i am not sure Avalon will try to keep up, since Bitmain would undoubtedly win either way.

I don't think Avalon will compete in a price war just from past unless they changed sales tactics.  Which is possible since it seems they are rumored to made a lot for Mr. Lees 3ph cloud he talked about, and I would imagine there are some other data centers.

The one some are saying are the US distributers - http://www.blockc.co/ mention a huge 10 MW center.  So there is a good chance they pump these out.

I do think bitmain will beat their price.  They in past have adjusted to be cheaper then competition, but a lot is unknown like if the new S7 is true.
4838  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 15th to oct 29th picks closed. on: October 29, 2015, 12:07:04 AM

I still think with s-7's arriving on weds we will go close to 4.5%

Good luck to any one that is close.

as A complete aside I have decided my batch 1 machine is best at freq 593  I get 4780gh use 1188 watts gives me 0.2485 watts at the wall.

So my second piece of gear comes tomorrow. I moved the first one out of the bedroom into the garage so sound is not a problem.

It would take a bit of time to set them up, although it most likely will impact the tail end of this round.
Anyways good to hear your miners are about to ship from personal experience that and the price rally will mean the next picks will be boiling up for some solid rises.

yep mine miners is on the truck and out for delivery,.

I am about to go from 11th to 15.8th  in house  plus 16th in the cloud with bitmaintech. I will be just over 31th!

My batch 2 arrived. I am running it off the batch 1 s-7  I have almost a zero error rate on a slight down clock 568

my error rate is 0.0001%  I am getting 9150gh I am burning 2300 watts  the batch came marked 575 per board bitmain really over priced the batch 2 delivered them slow and generally screwed anyone like me that thought ordering a batch 2 was smart.

I figure I lost close to an entire coin by getting the batch 2 and not the batch 3.  And the discount was not 1 btc.

back to the diff.  we are dropping and quite a bit.  must be bitmaintech off loaded gear to ship.  we  have about 36 block left to go and are under 2.7%

It is amazing if we get under 3 percent.  With coinbase at 304... that would be impressive to say the least.

Bitcoin Difficulty:    60,883,825,480
Estimated Next Difficulty:    62,461,730,768 (+2.59%)
Adjust time:    After 24 Blocks, About 3.9 hours
Hashrate(?):    446,235,562 GH/s

Just makes me wonder what is going on.  If Mr. Lees leak was right Avalon should ship anytime.  As he mentioned a pretty huge cloud that should be shipping anytime.
4839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can i earn with bitcoin please? on: October 28, 2015, 08:17:08 PM
1: Make quality post and soon your account will be earning ~50 Dollar per month - like me! Smiley.
2: Dont gamble or invest in HYIP site.
3: Use faucets to collect "dust" for transaction fees - check out FreeBitco.in or Weekend Bitcoin and ... my site, BitRevenues.

$50 isn't enough though but pretty sure it should help.  can you make it $50 a week by posting quality posts or is it possible to earn taht per week?

Yes $50 a week will be possible by posting quality posts on a campaign that has no limit of posts like this one on bit x but it will probably take a lot of time and effort as its not that easy to do especially when you have a limited knowledge on bitcoin Cheesy It's also kinda difficult cuz you'll may spam unintentionally.

But with the current exchange of bitcoins to usd, I think $50 is less difficult to achieve.

You have to enjoy the forums and have a wide varity of knowledge.  I love bitcoin so I have played with a lot of different things with it.  Mining is my first passion, but there are many others.

There are very few (I think only bit-x) that is not locked on top amount.   But macro watches posts to make sure they are not crap.  So you do have kinda a checks and balances system.
4840  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: October 28, 2015, 08:14:49 PM
You'll be eagerly checking every ~2 weeks for activity update then Cheesy

Aren't you as well? You're in the activity range for becoming a Legendary. Smiley

Me, however... far, far away from it.

Yeah but I already use bitcointalk pretty much every single day so it makes no real difference for me Tongue

I would agree it would be nice to have.  I hope sooner then later.  But being hero does not really bother me.

I will be here posting no matter hero or legendary.  I just enjoy the forums.
