4841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: June 19, 2020, 10:47:22 PM
Now that Premier League football is back, I wonder what the statistics released in the following weeks will show about the number of bets being placed. Will it be in proportion to pre-COVID 19 patterns?

It will be interesting to see what the numbers are.

I will surmise that perhaps we will see growth as far as betting as compare to pre-COVID 19. My reasoning is that as fans as glued at home and watching their favourite teams, there is a big chance that most of them will go online and place their bet. I don't know if casino's are going to release that numbers though, be fiat or crypto based online operators.
4842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee 2020 Prediction on: June 19, 2020, 09:47:53 PM
I used to have a lot of respect for McAfee and his knowledge but the longer he's been in the crypto space the more I think he's a bit of a dunce. The guys just create and backs all sorts of shitcoins.  He's overly exuberant with his claims and is constantly saying crap that makes no sense.  He's more of a mascot these days than someone actually making things happpen.

He used to have this kind of respect, specially from 'computer' industry because of his big contributions to the development of 'anti-virus' software, but the guy is eccentric to begin with and seems to like to live the wild life and involved himself with 'violence'.

And when he goes full crypto, that's where he was really exposed, making claims and shilling for shitcoins and then comes the 'hate', LOL. Others call him influencer, but I doubt, he just shill for shitcoins that pay him good and then move on the next one. I guess it's time to really stop following this guy for good.
4843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bank of Canada hiring for their very own CDBC on: June 19, 2020, 10:08:58 AM
For our Canadians crypto enthusiast,  Grin, Bank of Canada surprisingly posted a job on their website looking for:

Project Manager, CBDC

Quote
Take a central role
The Bank of Canada has a vision to be “a leading central bank—dynamic, engaged and trusted—committed to a better Canada.” No other employer in the country offers you the unique opportunity to work at the very center of Canada’s economy, in a diverse and inclusive organization with significant impact on the economic and financial well-being of all Canadians. You will be challenged, energized and motivated to excel in an environment where we are reinventing central banking, renewing ways of doing business and reinforcing a culture of innovation.

The Project
The Bank of Canada is embarking on a program of major social significance to design a contingent system for a central bank digital currency (CBDC), which can be thought of as a banknote, but in digital form. This project will require us to break new ground. It will take into consideration a wide variety of factors, including policy considerations, diverse stakeholder needs, difficult technical challenges and the development of a technical architecture to realize a CBDC pilot system.

Maybe someone out there is interested on this job opening, so just wanted to share it here.
4844  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 20-Year-Old Robinhood Customer Dies By Suicide After Seeing A $730,000 Negative on: June 19, 2020, 09:43:08 AM
Can Robinhood though has some liability here? It seems that the victim saw negative balance but the article it is just temporary but this could have triggered everything. If Robinhood display it real-time, this could have been avoided?
4845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bloomberg: “Bitcoin will approach record high of about $20,000 this year” on: June 19, 2020, 09:21:13 AM
Everything is still possible to happen related to the growth of existing cryptocurrency such as the increase in Tether which is very great I guess, and related to the Bloomberg argument I think it also has a big chance to happen later this year because these arguments at least still make sense that remains normal growth lines are related to the situation that happened this year, because they usually analyze if growth will reach 100k or even more I think that analysis is very difficult to achieve especially market sentiment that is not always good and even difficult to cross the resistance line.

We can't really compare tether though, they just have to mint it (just like fiat) and balloon their marketcap. So obviously, it is very different as compare to BTC. Nothing against Bloomberg, but it seems they have their agenda behind with this prediction.

Is it good for the market? Probably, but then again they are just giving false hope, specially for beginners and it will not be positive experience for them if the market suddenly crashes this year or the prediction didn't get to $20k at the end of the year.
4846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 19, 2020, 06:56:00 AM
Crawford vs Pacquiao should be the best option for Manny if indeed it will be his last fight.

Or maybe Pacquiao vs Spence. Crawford  and Spence are the two undefeated champion that people could possibly match Manny, but why is it Manny calling GGG instead of these two? I'm a bit confuse here. Roll Eyes

Yeah, I agree.

1. Pacquiao vs Spence
2. Pacquaio vs Crawford

Manny is not calling GGG as far as I know, and the only boxer that I recall Manny calling is Floyd. And it's the other way around, boxers are calling Manny because of the sweepstakes, just like what Thurman got, biggest payday of his career.

And calling GGG is the brainchild of Roach, similar to when they call Oscar back then. Manny just say yes as a boxer.
4847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is More Popular Than Traditional Banks on: June 19, 2020, 06:33:32 AM
According to the cyber media Tokenist, based on the results of their survey not long ago. The survey involved 4,852 respondents from 17 countries. According to the survey the number of people who trust Bitcoin more than large banks, increased by 29 percent in the last three years. The survey also showed differences in the generation's views about Bitcoin and traditional banks. 51 percent of millennials trust Bitcoin more than traditional banks.

The word here is "Trust", of course many will because  as we have said, if you own bitcoin, you have total control of it. As compare to traditional banks wherein there are cases that you need to wait for 3 business days to be able to clear your money.

But we can't argue that banking system is still needed, even millennials, specially flashing those credit cards, Lol. And then again, this is just a 'survey', margin of error is still present and not to be taken seriously.
4848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Unbelievable undervalued gem - RNDR on: June 18, 2020, 10:52:23 PM
Has it moved nowhere in 3 years? There might not be space for it in the space/it might have functions covered elsewhere...

I'm yet to see from your post what it actually does and whether the celebrity endorsement you list is actually a valid one, how easy is it ti make an account with medium and shove someone else's face on it...

And a newbie? this make a great case for Don't get tricked by hidden spam on this forum.

It didn't moved in 3 years so obviously there could be no utility for this kind of token. I'm not sure about the Coinbase listing, but if this is true, there could be temporary pump and the rest? we all know what's going to happen, just saying.
4849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coronavirus lock down boosts on: June 18, 2020, 11:24:37 AM
Obviously, as people stay in their house and find ways to make money, perhaps they found out that crypto trading could potentially gave that to them. And as a result number of registered users skyrocketed, and I'm sure Binance is not the only one seeing this kind of growth.

However, it doesn't equate to the price increase per se, we don't know if they are mostly trading bitcoin or altcoin. And there could be people losing money as well, that's why the growth in users is not felt in price.
4850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Compound Rocket Growth on: June 18, 2020, 09:55:27 AM
Well good for that Defi project, and as we have been saying, the more the better option for us crypto enthusiast. It was very short burst though, very short that it's very scary to thing about it. Nothing bad against the project, but I do hope that it will be sustainable.

We all know that once a project gets listed, it sure be pump to it's limit that's why I question the sustainability and the growth. So let's see what is going to happen in the next couple of weeks.
4851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why we should never trust anyone for being the real Satoshi. on: June 18, 2020, 09:12:47 AM
It's plain and simple, sign the wallet address of the first transaction in the genesis block and show it to the public.

That will prove you control those keys, nothing else. It is of course extremely compelling but not definitive. I'm not sure anything is when someone's entire story has taken place via channels that can be passed on to someone else.

Right, https://nakamotoinstitute.org/static/satoshinakamoto.asc

And a Satoshi turning up now and attracting a following would be so out of character from everything that has gone before that he'd attract just as much suspicion as our favourite tubby Australian.

He opted to remain out of the limelight for many years as to not attract any attention as compare to the Fake Satoshi who wants everyone's eye and concoct a lot of contradicting stories that you really know he is trying hard to fit and become Satoshi himself.
4852  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam] Fake Fox News Bitcoin Giveaway on: June 16, 2020, 11:24:13 PM
I always suggest everyone to press the report button to notify youtube authority about this kinda garbage and i think you you didn't missed that chance "OP".

Giveaway scammers are still active. They try to scam every opportunity. And those who come to the new crypto fall prey to this kind of fake giveaway. Scammers use Youtube to reach more people with their scam intent. So they open fake channels in the name of different brands and promote their scam videos. I hope people will stay away from this scam and will not send their money to scammers.
Comparatively scammer's have much patience than investors and that's the reason why they don't lose their hope after getting caught. Every time the get caught they come with new method of stealing. Its a continuous process and you can't stop them from repeating their activity. All they want is just to make some easy money.

Yes, this is an ongoing battle for us, we report them, scammers youtube channel been taken down, then they waited for couple of days, then start all over again.

But the good thing is that there are members here who share their findings in this board and I do hope that it is enough to remind everyone and not to fall for this  trick and be careful in youtube and other social media platforms today because scammers are using them to target crypto sphere.

Can you update us regarding this case?

I'm not discouraging everyone to join, but it seems that there are issues that need to be resolved first. Others have question their airdrop in the past month as well. It's good to be transparent here, just saying.
4854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 16, 2020, 11:48:55 AM
I'll go with Bob Arum as i see his advise to Manny as a fatherly one lol. I think he made that comment because he wants his fighter, Crawford to fight Manny instead of GGG. Months ago he said that Spence and Crawford are dangerous opponents for Manny but with the name of GGG floating around as a possible opponent of Manny, Arum changes his tune. This is because this might be the last fight of Manny and the outcome would not be good to him so why not fare his fighter against his former cash cow, milking him for the last time  Smiley.

Great point. Now that I think there is huge possibility that this would be the last fight of Manny. I'll go with Freddie Roach with he's crazy thought like this one below.

Crawford vs Pacquiao should be the best option for Manny if indeed it will be his last fight.

Quote
At 5-foot-10 1/2, GGG is half an inch shorter than Margarito, but broader, heavier, and presumably stronger.

Against Pacquiao, Margarito entered the ring at 165 lbs, gaining 15 lbs overnight.

Similarly, GGG could rehydrate to as high as 175, a light heavyweight, in a middleweight bout.

Pacquiao, who was 148 when he tangled with Margarito, has never reached 155 on fight night so a weight discrepancy of 20 lbs is likely against Golovkin.

Roach knows this so he ruled out Pacquiao colliding with GGG at 160 lbs.
https://www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/boxing-mma/pacquiao/263345-vs-golovkin-workable-at-catchweight

Correct, that is why I don't like to compare Margarito and GGG, both different. The only way that Team Pacquaio can get over this is adding a rehydration clause in the contract. Manny is typical of an Asian guy and it will be very difficult for him to go reach 155-160 without eating huge amount of food. His best fighting weight is really 147 lbs, above that, he looks bloated to me.
4855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is CBDC a direct threat to cryptocurrencies? on: June 15, 2020, 10:49:25 PM
I read somewhere that the proposed Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) will possibly not be deployed on any of the existing blockchains but might possibly be issued on a permissioned DLTs. this way it gives regulatory bodies a central control over the digital asset. If CBDC goes to full-scale adoption, will it be a blessing or curse to the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?

I don't think it will be a direct threat, it might compliment bitcoin and other crypto currencies in my opinion. Remember that these CBDC are going to be tax, so it you are a crypto enthusiast are you going to a a fan of it? And it can be used to track everyone, sort of to spy on our financials, government will know where and how are we spending our wealth through this CBDC.

Maybe we can see more regulations on crypto, but it doesn't mean they can stop it from being mass adopted. We can co-exist, use bitcoin and then we have CBDC for cashless and internal use of each society.
4856  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prediction 2020 on: June 15, 2020, 12:58:11 PM
Bloomberg analyst shares why the bitcoin price will double to 20000$ this year in 2020. According to Mike Mcglone senior commodities analyst at Bloomberg, bitcoin is going to hit 20000 Dollars by the end of 2020. READ THE COMPLETE BLOG AND SHARE YOUR OPINION ....WHAT U THINK ...

https://blog.coinbaazar.com/bitcoin-prediction-2020/

This is just another wild guesses coming from a supposedly expert. Market is very volatile, just look at today's downtrend. We even can't make it to 5 digits and sustained what more to go to $20k at the end of the year?

And we still have the pandemic, we need to consider that as well. Maybe investors are reluctant because there's a lot of uncertainty right now. So I wouldn't take that prediction seriously, let the market flow its normal course and don't expect a big jump so that we all won't get disappointed at the end.
4857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex IEO "RingX" on: June 15, 2020, 10:19:00 AM
Thanks for the share, but I will pass this out, not a whale here, just some casual trader. But the thing is that there is a lot of hype with this, specially launching at Bitfinex. And I bet that will be "gone in 60 seconds", as many are really waiting for this IEO.

I haven't check the full details, but for sure, Bitfinex has done its due diligence before allowing it to get launch on their platform. But it doesn't mean this could be "successful", it could also be an instrument for the classic pump and dump by some shady people behind.
4858  Other / Off-topic / Re: SAFETY TIPS COVID 19 SAVE HUMAN SAVE ECONOMY on: June 15, 2020, 09:51:52 AM
I think your tips is kinda late though. Been three months since the pandemic scare has hold us, but there's we have learn to re-adapt and nations globally started to ease the lockdown and moving forward despite the looming second wave. And I'm sure everyone is really aware of your safety tips already.

As for the economy, as I have said nations are slowly getting up and trying to salvage what is left. It's going to be a slow process to recover, but we have to start, we shouldn't be defeated and we do hope that there could be a vaccine in the next 12-18 months. World is changing, we are now in the 'new norm'.
4859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: United Nation Expert admit Digital Currencies Could Replace Bank Accounts on: June 15, 2020, 09:25:14 AM
And the sooner they realised, the sooner Central Banks are going to imposed crypto regulations to somewhat put a dent on crypto imminent rising. It can slow them, but I doubt that the can really stop this crypto revolution.

Cashless society, CBDC's will be the future. However, don't think that banks will go obsolete though, they will stay for sure, but their influence on people will somewhat reduce as we shift to crypto in the next 5-10 years.
4860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who Will Be the Crypto Hotmail? on: June 14, 2020, 01:04:03 PM
LOL, you take an image of another crypto related sites and then you put another links?

Skeptics will be skeptics, no matter what proof you show them, they will question everything and will look for every negative aspects of bitcoin or crypto in general. So there's no point of arguing with them because they are close minded already.

Amazon? if there are demands in the future, perhaps we are going to see them accepting it as mode of payment, simply as that.

As for the next  crypto hotmail? again, stop chasing, they will soon pop up in a very unexpected way.
