4861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HYPER ~ Game Currency ~ Twitch.tv ~ CSGO, Poker, RPG, Space, More! ~5% PoS on: April 11, 2015, 04:40:20 AM
As a notice for those of you running crypto businesses or otherwise needing my services, I do writing and editing! I can edit anything from school essays to business and legal documents, and my writing expertise spans across thousands of different topics (including highly technical ones). I can do research as needed for topics I'm not too well-versed in.

And I accept payment via cryptos, ideally HYPER and Bitcoin. On a case-by-case basis, I will also take PayPal or other payment methods.

Toss me a PM if you're interested in seeing if we can work something out!

Free card? Means I will receive the card without having to pay for the shipping fee or any other fee? I basically dint get the use of a Debit card but I guess the card can be shipped to India so I would be interested in owning one.

You don't want to pay the 0.05BTC issuance fee and for first 1,000(or 10,000), fees are less. You can use your Bitcoins directly exchange to INR when withdrawing from ATM or paying for something with it. Yes, it can be shipped to India.

First 10,000 users have no monthly fees.

A debit card allows you to spend straight from your wallet, anywhere in the world!

Considering joining as the card looks quite enticing, but does the fee waiver for the first 10k users also include inactivity fees? I don't know if I'll use it much and don't want fees to build up and sting me that way.

I liked it, too, until I saw the 0.01 BTC fee on each purchase... that's $2.50 per use, which is pretty large considering.
4863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 11, 2015, 04:19:33 AM
I would be basically fucked if BTC goes to that price. I still owe ~23 BTC on KLYEMAX and $10,000 BTC would be a catastrophe for me.

Not to be a dick but... you actually are making good on that whole "I used your money to gamble and lost it" situation?
4864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: April 11, 2015, 04:18:36 AM

Looks like, it is only question of time when somebody will steal your pKeys. There are endless possibilities how to do it. ... Can sidechains with multi layers of defense save our stored value?

edit:
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/micro-spy-camera
http://www.top10spysoftware.com/

But then similarly, it is only a question of time before someone transfers all your money out of your online checking account.  Which can also be frozen, the funds confiscated, their availability limited, or their value discombobulated by non-market forces.
Aslong as bank is solvent that is ok
huh? if someone moves your money out of your haxored bank account, good luck getting the bank to put it back.

also, i'd say that it is a good idea to distribute one's BTC across different, well-vetted storage solutions.

Uh, the bank WOULD do that. In fact, if you have a check stolen ("irreversible payment") and someone steals it and cashes it, the bank can reverse it months later. People seem to not understand that the central banking system runs everything, and any monetary payment through a bank (NOT wire, though wire can also be reversed) is reversible.
4865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 11, 2015, 04:17:06 AM
This thing is taking a fall into the abyss either tonight or in 4-5 days.  This is what happens when new money stops liking bitcoin as a speculative tool.

I disagree. I think we're going to stay around the 200-270 range until the end of the year. Maybe longer. There's so much in the works right now to help support the economy. It's going to be interesting seeing how things pan out in 2016+
4866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using BTC to earn some extra scratch on: April 10, 2015, 11:39:36 PM
On faucet sites; is it really worth it?  No you will make a few cents a day, horrible waste of time.

Do article writing or rewriting, and you'll earn at least $5 per hour. Try faucets, and the maximum payout will be in the range of $0.10 to $0.20 per hour. Definitely not worth the time and effort.

What type of article writing are you suggesting?  Can you please go into more info on that part.

Happen to play MMOs (or be interested in writing about them in general?). If so, I might be able to take you up on this...

Which MMO's are you referring to?  Seems like a wide variety of games.

And are you looking for writers or wanting to be the writer?

Looking for writers, and I deal with a wide variety of games (including a lot of unreleased/alpha versions for testing/reviewing). I run a MMO-based news/guide/review site. Technically, the focus is on RPGs in general, but primarily MMOs.

4868  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hitleap Is it worth it? on: April 10, 2015, 11:13:53 PM
Hitleap isn't for advertising. It's to artificially inflate your view count. There is NO monetary benefit from it, and you WON'T get real visitors. And that's not what it's for.

Basically, you'll see users stay for x seconds (whatever it's set at) and a 100% bounce rate. If you use advertising networks on your site, you also risk being banned. Especially AdSense.
4869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 10, 2015, 11:03:43 PM
Quite the contrary... As soon as we're in another confirmed bull-market, people will buy, buy, buy. people who sold will buy at a higher price. Everyone will work towards a bubble and that bubble will happen. The only question remaining is: How big will that bubble be.
It's not the only one. The more important question is when will it happen. I'd be happy with a small bubble, as long as I don't have to wait 2 years for it. Wink

We just have to go above the ATH.. maybe 1.5x and people will maybe then stop calling Bitcoin a fad, or predict its impending downfall. Sometimes you just have to show confidence in your investments Smiley

Yep, same thing that happened the first time (/s). If you pay attention, when BTC's price rises significantly it brings MORE hostility. It turns into "someone's manipulating it with their hundreds of millions of dollars so they can cash out."
4870  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: April 10, 2015, 11:01:01 PM
borrow 2000 more and but bitcoins for 4k

There is good advice and then there's advice you shouldn't really give, because it may get people into losing borrowed money. It's alright if you want to go long margin, yourself, but people should be very careful doing so.

Oops, I forgot to mention that those 2k should be borrowed from local drug dealers because their money is probably dirty and they can't sue you for not being able to pay back. WIN WIN!
then they kill you

At least then when you lose all the money you won't owe anything back, Smiley.
4871  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: April 10, 2015, 11:00:24 PM
For investors that want to invest in Bitcoin, but in the more traditional fiat based way, you can probably get in on GBTC and COIN when it eventually launches:

-snip-

Is that a legit site? Seems a little bit fishy for me.

If you're talking about Ticker symbol GBTC which will represent BIT (Bitcoin Investment Trust) on the OTC markets, that's as legit as it gets.

Look up Barry Silbert.  He's in charge of BIT.

As far as the Winklevii, I'm sure you've heard of them in the news, and heard of their ETF, COIN, as well as their upcoming exchange, Gemini.  All fully regulated and legitimate awaiting launch sometime this year.

Basically, what CB said. The system is regulated by the Fed. If they screwed people over, it wouldn't be some "let's just run off because nobody will find us" situation like we've been dealing with. The Fed itself would step in.

But is the ETF actually worth buying into? I still don't quite get what they do (I do in general, but what about this specific one)?

The GBTC and COIN ETF is like any other ETF or any other holding or stock shares in a company.

It's like investing in GLD or SLV without actually having gold or silver bars in your safe.  You'd be owning fractions of a Bitcoin with both GBTC and COIN, all without the headaches of actually safe guarding, air gapping, backing up, or securing your stash.

Some people like peace of mind or like to offload the "security" risk to the valid exchanges, instead of straight up ownership.

So essentially it's virtual virtual bitcoins, then, Smiley.

I'm slightly familiar with ETFs from the perspective of like "S&P 500" and such. I wasn't aware that it was simply a holding vehicle for the underlying assets, though (new to investing) and didn't even know you could use them for things like gold/silver.

Yes sir!  Something along those lines.  Holding shares in Bitcoin, about 1/10th of a whole Bitcoin, but without the Gox'ing, Stamp'ing, or Mycoining that's been going on.

Should be any day now, based on the news, GBTC could be launched as early as next week:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102549768

Pretty cool thing! Do you know what their yearly "management" fees are?
4872  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: April 09, 2015, 10:59:14 PM
Stocks on the rise again

The issue is speculation on whether Fed is going to raise interest rates or not. If they do, stocks will go down. If they don't, they'll go up. It's a very speculative market right now as a result.
4873  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: April 09, 2015, 10:56:38 PM
It seems like a lot of people are shakey on bitcoin as the direction heads still being in the $200.

I think personally, you should invest $2,000 all in gold, and then invest with the small profit cap you get from it to bitcoin. Keep on taking the advantage of the time since, bitcoin prices were same as 3 years ago.

If you did that with gold you would of profit enough to buy a couple of bitcoins by now since its still $200.

Gold is in kind of a risky situation as well, though. At the moment it costs more to mine it than it's worth, causing a lot of rift in the market. It's going to be interesting to see if it perks up or crashes completely since a lot of big names are moving out of the precious metals.

Is there information on any conversion fees, or information on how the value is calculated? There's a huge difference between exchanges when you do $10k, for example, and even bigger if there's a conversion fee on top of that.

we have again problems with blockchain API access - waiting for their response.

on monday we ve send all payments but they didnt proceed with error message. apologies for it, all will be sent immediately once the API problem will be sorted (we have all amounts backed-up so you wont lose anything).
Again sorry for this, not our fault.

Can you not use a different service that isn't reliant on Blockchain? Or is there a specific reason for using that?

We started with blockchain as by that time it was the easiest option to arrange auto pay-outs from faucet. Now we are checking other services options (block.io etc.). Possibly we r gna change the API over the weekend as we dont want any more of these troubles.

Makes sense. Or possibly even do a failsafe. Use Blockchain as the main, and when it's down, kick into an alternate one to process payments in the meantime. Something like "if Blockchain sends an error, send using xxx."

4877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: April 09, 2015, 09:55:00 AM
People look at things the wrong way. Let's use a real-world example to show it:

Gold was a form of money. Silver was its lesser counterpart.
Fiat was created, based on gold. Now fiat is the main currency, while gold/silver are investment vehicles.

All of these have value. They are all convertible between one another. Just because fiat took over doesn't mean the others were destroyed/worthless.

I think BTC is the same way. I have very little doubts that it will be taken over by other currencies. But I think it will remain a main investment vehicle and therefore still have its use/value. It just won't be what we use for day-to-day transacting.
Let's take a bunch of loosely-correlated facts, without any examination of context or cause-and-effect relationships, and hope the process of extrapolating conclusions from all this returns results more accurate than a random number generator.

Deal. My result came out to be "42." Yours?

0.111 Released:
Windows Installer.

New Features:
  Work via SOCKS5, TOR proxies
  bootstrap.dat database format

Hey, ufa! Thanks for the update!

If most coins work in the same general way (in regards to the client -- I'm not familiar with programming too much) could you implement a sort of module-type system, such that someone can just add a file in, like "doge.coin" that would hold the parameters needed to parse DOGE's database? Not sure if I'm explaining this well enough but basically a way to quickly allow everyone to add their own coins to the client.
