You are never out of debt. Even when you die, there will be a debt to be paid by you. Money is just a numbers game, not an intelligence issue. As the billionaire Dale Andrew Carnegie said, "put all your eggs in one basket, and watch that basket."

You would think that would be obvious to legislators. Unless you have a kingdom with cameras everywhere, the killers have little to fear.

I have a friend in the Philippines where guns were recently banned. There is now a rash of hit and run armed robberies there. Recently, her neighbor (a relative) was gunned down for the cash he was carrying in a money belt. It happened in broad daylight by a masked motorbike rider. I am not against guns, but we need reason to guide our lawmakers.

I'm in a similar situation. I've paid off all but my unsecured debts. Because of my previous obligations, I was unable to acquire as much coin as I wanted. However, I feel much more confident in Bitcoin than my country's willingness to honor it's debt to me in my old age when I am unable to work. They can garnish my debts from my non-existent social security that I've paid into all my life. Hell, even my children are a safer bet than anything provided by the state or any private institution. Besides, I don't think I am in the minority in the opinion in how the banks have operated the last couple of decades.

That is the point of the meme. Bitcoin doesn't need "social marketing" (whatever that is) because it is math.

Bank loans are gambles made by the banks. They've mitigated their risk by leveraging high interest rates against the majority of their borrowers that they prey upon. I'm not saying you shouldn't pay your bills, but why pay them back faster than you need to? If you don't get what Bitcoin is about, then I can see why you consider it a gamble.

I didn't need to send identification to draw cash out of mtgox to dwolla. Did you read the terms on mtgox? You only need the ID part if want your limit raised to over $1000.

Of course you should reward the predatory lenders that lobbied for the ridiculous rates they get. Or, you could hang on another few months and give the new developments a chance to drive up Bitcoin another order of magnitude.

That would make it so much easier for thieves to fence their stolen goods. They would get paid by the owner and just say they "found" it.

Litecoin requires too much energy per MH/s. Fewer miners will support the network. That makes it less secure.
Ripple may be decentralized in theory, but it is information based. That makes it centralized.
Bitcoin isn't perfect, but it's still in beta. Much has been developed to improve its performance. Bitcoin is more than adequate to replace the global monetary system.

The best arguments in favor of anarchy I've seen required war, slavery, and ethnic clensing. I suppose they do work if you look at it this way. In the end, we will have to kill each other. One of us will claim to be the anarchist and the other a statistic to support the claim.

The US is already spying on every bank account in the country. This does not make Bitcoin any more illegal than the dollar.
