What exactly is happening?
You turn on the miner and after lets say 1 min the miner suddenly shuts down? Thats whats happening with one of my miners.
Pretty much. And after it fails its hard to get it back on. I need the reset it several times to get it going. [/quote] OK, seems like we have the same issue. I "solved" it with just turning off one of the asic-boards. I never assumed that maybe heat could be the problem. I will definetly try with fans on.

^Yeah, 550+ yeah, my ass... I am hosted and stuck at 100 average....
are you reading speed through pool? i use slush and it showed 30 at the start and slowly ramped up to 450 after about 10 hours. I tried, eligius then 50btc, both stuck at 100 GH/s, maybe I'll try slush... Congrats on getting 450, you're one of the lucky few Well i had to do some modifications.... without the miner stops running, it trips the PSU for some reason. What exactly is happening? Have i just killed the Jupiter!?! Just setup a new miner. Fired it up and recognized that one front-fan didnt work. I didnt care cause without the case airflow should be OK. I started to change the setting via the webinterface and then the miner suddenly shut down. I checked everything and found that the front-fan wasnt working cause a blade was STUCK! So i "unstuck" it and fired the miner up again but NOTHING happens........... Whats going on??? UPDATE: Fan is working normal again. Situation is like this: I start the miner and everything is OK, i can access the webinterface and edit things. After pretty exactly 1 min the miner shuts down abruptly... this is PSU fault, i think! i will try another PSU later at the moment the miner runs with 3 cards it doesnt matter which card i deactivate as soon as only 3 cards are applied the miner works edit: i am using a seasonic 1050 gold

orama,
thx for update!
i got one corsair 1050 hx running.
is that also a problem or just the 850???
Mate, cannot say. Not what i've been focusing on to be fair. Gut feeling it's part of the same brand/model family, so I would rather take a swerve. It's supplying to much current from what I understand. Something about a safety in the PSU being triggered and the cap smokes after the PSU is switched back on. They don't have every brand of ATX here to test. Anotherhost popped by with theirs is what I heard, it just so happened that on all those reported it was the same PSU at fault. It's an ongoing investigation, but if you want to play it safe, for sure the Corsair V850 has not shown any problems this end, and is used throughout the hosting currently. thx

Hi all, my Jupiter was nasty last night: Today i woke up and he wasnt hashing anymore and i cant access the miner per web/ssh anymore either. I didnt want to switch off the PSU cause there was a rumor that switching off and on again could possibly hurt those caps that burn from time to time. So i just pulled the network plug and put it back on. And now thats STRANGE: he immediatelly started to hash again at full speed BUT the case-front fans stopped working at the same time. When i pull the network plug again they start running again. I plug them in they stop. And so on..... Whats wrong here? ?

I do not think the capacitors are bad, I am almost certain that they are not being placed correctly.
The pic that I linked in my last post shows the cap in question being skewed. Mine also was similar, but not quite as much as the one in the link.
Im pretty sure that apparent angle is a result of the fire/explosion, no? I don't think so, but I didn't witness the failure, just the aftermath. It would have needed to reflow itself, but just a wee bit goofy? did the psu shut down itself after the burn? or was the miner still running?

2 x 0.92 1 x 0.93 1 x 0.94 (this one today at the datacenter of anotherhosting.se)
uhh, what is ambient temp? this is so scary... i dunno but that guy from anotherhosting said they have ac with 70kw

^^ 50btc was hit by another dos attack today. I was down for about an hour 40deg and 38deg temps on my Saturn (case cover off) just upgraded to .094 and hash rate is a little slower but HW errors are at 10% . I purposely stayed on 0.91 before this as the results from the other 2 firmware patches didn't look too good. around 5% HW errors on 0.91
Agreed, the Jupiters I have on 0.91 are the fastest without any doubt. I have none on 0.90, most on 0.91, none on 0.92, two on 0.93 and one on 0.94. So far 0.91 is the real deal IMO. I wonder what firmware the guy whose boards caught fire was running. 0.92 in fact we had 4 fires/burnt caps so far 2 x 0.92 1 x 0.93 1 x 0.94 (this one today at the datacenter of anotherhosting.se)

Hey KNC/Bitcoinorama, thanks for making us beg for an update. Good to see pretty much no answers in your post obama. Regarding data centre: The fact is each board has an individual owner and that owner has to be able to configure certain aspects of each board, choice of pool etc. You are therefore not given a proportional 'virtual' share of what's hosted, but actual physical and configurable boards located in your own physical space in the hosting center; i.e. your own board(s), and thus these need to be individually assigned, and that is considerably more laborious than originally expected.
4 boards, 1 controller board and connect one ethernet cable. To use your favourite word - BOOM! Now how is that "more laborious than originally expected". So, a total no-answer on DC delays. How about some answers to these questions: 1. How come the sub-standard cgminer from KNC? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.msg3294238#msg3294238 This post suggests the KNC version is not doing a proper work restart. Any reason KNC are spending 9 days releasing firmware updates that doesn't even fix these issues? I'm fairly sure the guys who wrote cgminer could sort this quick fast. Anyway, I expect no-answer on this one. 2. How come boards are bbq'ing? I know you wrote a post a few days ago trying to blame people for unplugging cables while the miner was still powered up, but that was scapegoating. There is plenty speculation on the hardware issues causing, but a total no-answer on this from you/KNC. Anyway, I expect no-answer on this one too. # atleast Spelon from anotherhost.se made them aware of the bbq-issue: they gave me schetchy looks when i told them that this was the 2nd burn we've had edit: and i think those guys know how to handle IT-equipment...
