So I'm worried about my KNC Jupiter that is arriving today blowing up while I'm not there. Has there been any consensus on how best to limit the risk? Which firmware version is best?

Cheers!

asaik the consensus is at the moment:

a.) dont use fw 0.90 as it may be damaging the boards
b.) dont use fw 0.92 as both fires occured while using 0.92

in terms of lid open or closed the jury is still out

what about .93? or it is just .92 with fixed reboot after upgrade feature?.)

i have no idea too

4946  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Groupbuy] Jupiter KNCMiner (0.5 BTC shares) 12 sold! [CLOSED] !!! on: October 07, 2013, 12:43:20 PM

First div-payment wednesday?
We'll do our best.. it kinda depends on any KnC news on production today or tomorrow.. We need to pay divs on GB1 before we can start GB2, but it all boils down to timing.. If we pay divs to soon we have to pay GB1 divs twice which we would like to prevent (since it'll be some administrative hassle).

Cheers,

OK.

Hi,

OK.

ok

Those VRMs made loud high pitch sound when first running at 0.9 firmware (and consumes considerably higher power), and after upgrading to new firmware, those sound disappeared. I doubt that those burned boards were running 0.9 firmware

Both burned boards were 0.92.

Nice to see bitcointalk back up!

Horrible timing for the downtime.
4951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 02, 2013, 11:52:28 PM
If it were not for Bitcoinorama, I would have surely gone nutz by now being in the dark as they say... I for one vote that O'rama gets a Jupiter for the service he has provided us in behalf of KNC    He has weathered the storm thru thick & thin

LOL, what service has he provided? Distracting us from the fact that shipping in September went to October.

You can't have everything Wink
You got 550GH/s instead of 400GH/s

I call that underpromise and overdeliver.

If that was BFL they would have put 3 asic chips (410GH/s) in the Jupiter instead of 4 without any hesitation.

And if it were Avalon they would hashing first till november before even UPS knows their name.
4952  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Breaking: Silk Road geseizet, Betreiber verhaftet on: October 02, 2013, 10:31:31 PM

Etliche Silkroad 2.0 steht schon in den Startlöchern.

Ob das gut oder schlecht für BTC ist sei mal dahingestellt, aber es wird logischerweise einen Nachfolger geben.

It's 17:15 and all's well in the financial markets.  The currencies took no notice of the SR/BTC thing.

Here's how zerohedge, a financial market contrarian news/opinion site written by, and largely for, financial market insiders, reported the thing.  As usual, they are forecasting the End of Bitcoin.  They may know how to play the Treasury yield curve spreads for the government shutdown, but bitcoin?  They don't have a clue.

Anyone have a idea on how many the are shipping per day?

In the shipping vid you can see several palettes in the background waiting to ship.

so i guess at least those palettes got shipped today.

4956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the downfall of Silkroad will be the partnership of bitcoin and the US gov on: October 02, 2013, 07:55:00 PM
Today some teams career will have been made on the arrest of silk roads owner. What it also means is that the US government has become one of the larger BTC holders out there via their seizure. It also means that the government is finding its feet in terms of understanding bitcoin.

This is very important in terms of the US government being a partner in Bitcoin. It proves to them that bitcoin is not beyond their reach or understanding. It means that some of the best experts on bitcoin are within the FBI and financial crimes departments. Is is an important step towards proper regulation and support by the government. It also means that scams will be less easy to pull off. The victims of pirate should be happy knowing this, as should future investors be comforted in knowing the government it not totally powerless to enforce law and order in the virtual space.

Maybe you won't buy as many drugs online from here on out, but we can look forward to buying a lot more normal, legal, things.

It's a good day (scary on the exchanges) but a good day nonetheless.

OK. And why shouldnt be no second Silk Road within the next months? Contenders are already lining up and preparing themselves. 150.000$+ a month are to be made.

I think its good for publicity of BTC. "Bad news, is good news."

You think?

Mr Customs man sits down and sees the news.

Story about Bitcoin criminals arrests, bitcoin used for purchase of drugs and other criminal activities.

Next day, Mr Customs man sees hundreds of cardboard boxes with "Bitcoin Miner" in the manifest.

= everyone fucked.

Haha! No way thats going to happen. Customs have laws they depend on. Unless mining-hardware is prohibited nothing will happen.

And you can bat that today alot people heard the first time about BTC. And thats good!
4958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 02, 2013, 06:44:13 PM
what the f... happen with bitcoin rate???

Silk Road was busted, Dread Pirate Roberts is a killer and people is crapping their pants.

True story: http://krebsonsecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/UlbrichtCriminalComplaint.pdf

Holy Schmoley!!!!

Just read the whole thing.

Some are saying it is fake. The camel watermark on the FBI seized image, the SR forums are still running (according to reddit) and that there was a preannounced SR 30min SR downtime. Plus isn't the FBI supposed to
Be on vacation ?

Having said that if it is true the SR turnover is supposed to have been 9 million BTC. Now there are only 11.5million total, so the price will drop like it is 2011.

Wait, so the SR shut down is fake?
No, it's on worldwide mainstream news media.

I think its good for publicity of BTC. "Bad news, is good news."
