4961  Other / Meta / Re: One merit source has just been demoted? on: June 06, 2020, 05:50:19 PM
@Blacknavy was a good merit source. Psychological pressures of a person dragged him to this decision. He showed a virtuous behavior and resigned. His gap needs to be filled. Valuable messages continue to be written in Turkish section.
I have no problem with the Turkish section getting another merit source (though it's not my decision anyway), but the current batch of applicants leaves me scratching my head as to whether they'd be the most appropriate choices.  For whatever reason, that section has some very vocal and very tribalistic members who don't seem to look at things entirely logically.

Anyway, the Turks will be fine until another merit source gets tapped for the local board (if that does in fact happen).  Given how persistent they are, my guess is that Theymos will find a replacement.

In general, we're lucky to have all the merit sources that we do.  It's not like it's a paid position, nor one that gets you any sort of thanks, praise, or even recognition.  I'm kind of surprised there haven't been more merit sources dropping out.
4962  Other / Meta / Re: HOLY FUCK !!!! THE SCAMMER IS ALSO A PLAGIARIST OF GIANT MAGNITUDE - SIG BAN NO on: June 04, 2020, 10:11:57 PM
I have just reviewed this thread about you and your obsession with sexual deviance. Yout clear obsession with child sex abuse may be condoned by the likes of Vod  but I find it revolting.
Funny, I didn't see it that way at all but rather as a witty way of calling him a motherfucker.  You might be projecting those sexual obsessions from somewhere inside yourself--or you just might not have a sense of humor.  Or you're very pro-censorship.

It appears to me that lauda is only supported by members with considerable dirt to be found in their own histories here.
There aren't many angels to be found on bitcointalk, whether they support Lauda or not.  Guaranteed if we knew what other accounts you control, there's some dirt that could be dug up on you within a matter of minutes, so check yo self before you get all self righteous.
4963  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Confidence Indicator is a new feature in CoinMarketCap on: June 04, 2020, 08:51:09 PM
I find it extremely sad that there has to be such a thing as a "confidence indicator" when it comes to giving a numerical score to guide you as to whether you can trust the numbers an exchange is giving CMC.  All exchanges should have 100%, period.  If you thought we were out of the Wild West days in crypto, this ought to prove that wrong.  There's no way any brokerage would get away with faking their trading volume--at least not for long, and the gain you'd get from faking numbers is paltry by comparison to the damage that can be done to your exchange if and when that BS gets uncovered.

After Binance has purchased the CoinMarketCap site, it appears that she will make many updates
Binance probably won't get offended by someone misgendering them, but beware: the pronoun police are lurking everywhere. (lol)

Anyway, the changes are to be expected and hopefully whatever changes are coming in the future for CMC are positive ones.  Binance is pretty on-the-ball as an exchange, so I don't think they're going to start breaking things as soon as they begin looking around.  We'll see.
4964  Economy / Reputation / Re: JollyGood is reporting bounty hunters on: June 04, 2020, 08:20:41 PM
So, basically you do not care anyone who is not in DT?
That's what usually happens once someone who's left a lot of negs makes it to at least DT2.  Their inboxes start getting flooded with pleas for mercy, etc., and you start seeing threads like these.  It's all good if the person who left the neg doesn't have any power, but once they do....watch out.

In any case, OP there's nothing the community can do to help you with the feedback that was left--that's an issue between you and JollyGood, and just glancing at your feedback, I'm not even familiar with that particular drama episode.  If that project was legitimately not a scam, you might have a good case if JollyGood agrees, but there isn't anything the rest of us can do.
4965  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'm still a newbie that got burned by BTC, Tron and Verge on: June 02, 2020, 05:21:42 PM
I FOMO'd in at ATH and basically lost most of my investment.
Only the BTC portion of it remains intact, although still in a loss position.
I seriously doubt you're alone in having bought bitcoin and some hyped-up altcoins when they were at their all-time highs.  Lots of people start to feel that FOMO and do exactly what you did, and it's why the market got as overheated as it did in the first place.

Tron is an interesting coin, but Justin Sun seems like a complete huckster, a snake oil salesman.  Sometimes a coin with real utility can overcome its origins, but I don't know about Tron.  If you're still holding any of what you bought two years ago, you'll probably be waiting a long time just to break even (IMO).

Bitcoin is another story, though.  Even if you bought it at $20k, I wouldn't dump it now and cut your losses on it.  I do happen to think it's headed higher, but it has to break through the $10k barrier first before it starts approaching a new ATH.  That could take a while.  In any case, think of your experience as an education--even if it was an expensive one.  If you learn from your mistakes, hopefully you'll be less likely to repeat them next time a bull market rolls around.
4966  Other / Meta / Re: Danydee ban "appeal" - Please permaban on: June 02, 2020, 04:48:27 PM
Is a temp ban justified ? I will let the "law-makers" decide.
Sounds like you just happened to luck out with this troll, and though your experience with him was relatively benign he obviously likes to poke members with sticks, so to speak.  That's what trolls do, and he seems like a fairly aggressive one at that.  I'm not one of those lawmakers, but I think the dude should be permabanned.  The crap he's pulled justifies it, plus I doubt he's the type of member who would learn anything after just being banned for just a short period of time.

But if anything it shows he doesn't care about any rule.
Trolls usually don't.
4967  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [RED ALERT] marlboroza attempt to "conquer" bitcointalk with his friends. on: June 01, 2020, 11:39:32 PM
It's quite obvious his friends are trying to manufacturer history through lies on bitcointalk.
What friends are you talking about?  The members who supported that flag against you?  For one thing, there weren't even all that many supporters, and for another it doesn't mean there's any sort of friendly relationship with marlboroza (or a conspiracy against you) just because they did support it.  The title of this thread sounds like you screaming how victimized you are, and it sure as hell doesn't look that way to me.

I don't know anything about that script or what it does, but if it has anything to do with HYIP schemes then it shouldn't surprise you that someone started up a flag against you.  But again, I don't have enough background knowledge to judge the situation so I'm not jumping on the hatewagon.

However, if this is true:
[AutoBuy] HYIP Monitor Listing, own hyip monitor listing service!

Well, you dabbled your toes in something that's very much frowned upon here.
4968  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Warning - Changelly on: June 01, 2020, 07:10:29 PM
<snip>
So there's no option for him to get his funds back if he doesn't want to go through the KYC procedure?  It would be nice if a refund option was available, especially if OP was not made aware of the KYC requirement (and I don't know if that's actually the case).

I had an issue with Changelly in the past and started a scam accusation thread against them when it appeared they weren't taking any action based on my communication with them.  Eventually they did make things right (though not 100%), and I don't think they're out to scam anyone.

If you search this exchange before, you'll see a bunch of thread have discussed against this scam exchange. Changelly have multiple scam accusations and only solve a few cases.
<snip list>
Didn't go through that list, but I would be willing to wager that at least some of those cases were resolved and that there was no follow-through post(s) made by the OPs of the threads.  That's an assumption of course, but I've seen it happen before with some Yobit scam accusations.
4969  Economy / Reputation / Re: koincik, vycl87 alt accounts - self vouching/merit/trust/bounty abuse on: June 01, 2020, 06:58:22 PM
In vycl87's merit source application topic account koincik posted this:

One of the most active and knowledgeable users of the forum. A well-intentioned person who can get along well with everyone in the forum. I think he is a good candidate for Merit source.
Yep, and this is not surprising behavior coming from that little clique.  As I've expressed before, I'm all for local board merit sources, but it seems like the Turkish section has placed massive importance on having at least one representative who's a merit source, to the point where it appears suspicious to me as to why.  I'm definitely not saying the Turkish section shouldn't have a merit source, but I do question whether it should be from any of the current pool of applicants (and I'm only familiar with two so far, wolwoo and vycl87).  I get the strong feeling that there would be a ton of abuse.

Edit:
Oh my God, Are there good members in the Turkish section? Unbelievable Cheesy
No doubt there are, but there's a very loud clique (of which you are a part) which hopefully doesn't represent the majority of the Turkish section.
4970  Other / Meta / Re: Posting reserve? on: June 01, 2020, 06:15:14 PM
No matter he just doing one time, he was cheated already.
I'm totally anti-shitposting, but I wouldn't say this guy actually cheated on anything if it isn't in the campaign rules that this sort of thing isn't allowed (which it shouldn't be IMO).  And it doesn't matter what his excuse is for "reserving" a post spot, because it's pretty clear that he's trying to maximize his campaign earnings while being lazy about it.

What I am saying is that this behavior most likely have nothing to do with signature campaigns requirements, that's all. Probably other reasons, such as reserving a top spot in topic for more visibility or something like that..
That's what reserving posts is usually used for, but I don't think that's the case here.  But in any case, maybe this is something for campaign managers to think about when they're writing the rules for their campaigns.  It's probably not a huge problem, but it's a sketchy behavior and I wouldn't want to scroll through threads where even some of them are "reserved".
4971  Other / Meta / Re: Abusive Ban / Ban appeal on: May 31, 2020, 10:08:56 PM
gore content
Ew yeah, I clicked on that reference link on one of his negs and was treated to a disgusting death pic.  OP, why would you post that here in any context?  I can't read French so I don't understand what that thread is all about.

I'd also say this doesn't appear to be an instance of moderator abuse (though I don't know the whole story).  If anything, bitcointalk is under-moderated if you compare it to the average discussion board.  It's not likely some French mod somehow got a hard-on for harassing you--and in any case, it's only for 7 days.  You're damn lucky you didn't get permabanned.
4972  Other / Meta / Re: wolwoo's merit source desire on: May 31, 2020, 06:53:01 PM
I will gladly resign from responding to your ad hominems, when you and all the other "Affirmative Action" candidates will stop milking the hapless organization Chipmixer like a cow.
I don't think you know what an ad hominem argument is--or at least the quotes you posted don't demonstrate anything of the sort.

Affirmative action?  May I ask exactly what you mean by that when referring to Chipmixer?  I don't see how anyone got into the Chipmixer campaign because they were an under-represented minority.  That campaign is the closest thing to a meritocracy as I've seen on the ol' intertubes, and thankfully it only accepts the cream of the crop.

I write fearlessly, how beautiful it is if it bothers someone. Be open to different thoughts.
That's fine and all, but the question is about how you'd be handing out merits if you were made a merit source.  If you merited mostly Turkish members, I wouldn't have a problem with that in the least, as I support merit sources in local boards....but much of what you express is agenda-driven, emotional, and not altogether rational.  That should be taken into account when considering giving someone the power (admittedly, it isn't much) to distribute merits above and beyond what that person has earned himself.  I don't trust that you wouldn't misuse that power, but that's just my opinion--Theymos is the one calling the shots here as far as all of this is concerned.
4973  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of SHAHIN MEDICAL on: May 31, 2020, 03:01:49 PM
1 - The site has a domain name that looks like it was created for the purpose of being a faucet: https://shaheenfaucet.xyz
Yeah well, that was probably their first business plan that they abandoned after realizing it isn't all that profitable running a faucet (at least, that's what I've heard).

This thing definitely looks and smells like a scam, and even if I'm not going to go so far as to call it such, it's still enough to put doubt in my mind and I think people ought to steer clear of this one unless or until they prove themselves legitimate.  I have yet to see blockchain technology and medicine brought together in a useful fashion, and I doubt this is an example of that.  Good catch, OP.
4974  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shasan and suchmoon negative reputation and judgment on: May 29, 2020, 08:40:15 PM
Still waiting for moderator to act on this case as it should, negative rep given in return to marlboroza with same reference he gave.
You're not listening to the members here who are telling you that moderators aren't going to do anything for you.  It's the truth, and I tell you this as someone who isn't taking any sides in this matter.  Negative trust can only be resolved between the person who gave it and the recipient.  Moderators do NOT moderate trust--or scams, for that matter.

Edit:

Actually they do moderate trust.

Leaving the forum until I see my negative rep removed, welcome 2017 bitcoiners.

We d0n't g0t n0thing in c0mmon.

No idea what you're talking about here, and I'm not clicking on a Youtube link.  If you can't express yourself succinctly and clearly, I'm not going to bother reading anything else from you.  I would also suggest that you have no idea why that trust you referred to was removed.  If you have proof it was because of a moderator, feel free to post some evidence.  Otherwise, listen to what people are telling you.
4975  Economy / Economics / Re: White House won’t be releasing the formal economic projections (not a good sign) on: May 29, 2020, 07:55:15 PM
The White House is clearly trying to hide something.<snip>

Perhaps the White House doesn't want to reveal data that might be too shocking,in order to not spread more panic on the markets.
I agree with the second statement, and it sounds like something the US government would do--but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're trying to "hide" anything from us.  The projections are probably going to be really bad, and they don't want to be the ones speculating on just how bad they could be.

I could be wrong; it isn't as though I have any faith in the government to deliver the truth to its citizens, and I also think it's more than a little ominous that they're not going to be releasing these projections.  I think that's the wrong move, especially at a time when so many people are disgusted with the US government and how things are being run.

It's like preventing more damage that might cause people to panic more in times of pandemic.
That's probably their goal, but I'd be happier if they'd just give it to us straight instead of being more secretive.
4976  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shasan negative reputation on: May 29, 2020, 05:25:32 PM
Which account is that?

None of your business
LOL, that's just a beautiful response, just the kind you'd find out on a 4th grade playground.

A veteran member such as yourself should know that admins/moderators don't get involved in adjudicating scams, attempts to scam, business deals, etc.
This "veteran" member doesn't appear to have been all that active since he registered his account, so it's entirely possible that he just hasn't paid attention to how things are done here.  But there are also tons of other possibilities, especially since he's now claiming to have been around since 2011.  If you've been a member of the forum for almost 10 years, surely you would know that these beefs aren't the type to be handled by moderators.  Nor should such a senior member be surprised about getting a red trust from a DT member when a loan request looks shady.  That's been happening for longer than I've been a member here.
4977  Economy / Reputation / Re: More trust abuse by marlboroza on: May 28, 2020, 10:14:01 PM
<snip>turning the topic itself into an off topic focus on me by all the abusers and promoters of said abuse that the moderators refuse to act on.
Well, this thread does involve you and your accusation against marlboroza so I don't think all or even most of the discussion is off-topic when it starts to come back to talking about you and how you're perceiving things.

It is clearly all in my head. Thanks for proving you would rather be liar than an honest man and simply own up to your decisions. Welcome back to the mob.
I'm not saying all of this is in your head, because I've seen you make some valid points before, but when your mode of thinking is so rigid and inflexible, even constructive criticism (which is what I'm trying to give you) is seen as a full-blown attack.  Speaking only for myself, that isn't how I intend it.

Welcome back to the mob.
I'm not in a mob against you.  But on a related note, when I speak of a persecution complex (and paranoia), statements like that are what I mean.
4978  Economy / Reputation / Re: More trust abuse by marlboroza on: May 28, 2020, 08:53:57 PM
For example TECSHARE will never admit he's wrong.  I don't recall him ever changing his mind either.  To him, opinions are a form of weakness - his opinions are actually facts and you can't disagree with facts.
His obsession with trying to convince people he's a trust abuse victim and the mods have been conspiring against him is what makes me think he actually believes what he's saying.  This has been going on for years.
I agree with all of this, and it's led him to leaving unwarranted feedback in the past--which is the reason why he was voted off DT years ago.  I want to bury the hatchet and un-exclude TECSHARE on my trust list, but I just can't get around his continued behavior and the more I read the less rational and more paranoid I find his thinking to be, and I can't justify not excluding someone like him from my trust list.

I had to check, but I guess I don't have mixan ~'ed on my trust list, but he's an example of a member who went completely off the rails.  Since he basically rage-quit the forum and abandoned his account, it's not a huge deal if I have him excluded or left him a neg--but it's a different story altogether with TECSHARE.  If he would at least try to work on dropping the persecution complex, I'd at least un-exclude him, but he just doesn't see the problem.  In his view, everyone else is wrong and he's in the right--always.  Rarely in life is that the case, and it isn't the case with him.
4979  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amazon has a gap to fill with their pe ratio on: May 28, 2020, 04:42:29 PM
High growth (or perceived high growth) = high P/E.  That's the way it's always been, for better or for worse.  If Amazon were to have a P/E of 15 right now, it would mean their income was stable and had exhausted all of their growth avenues--and they'd probably be paying a dividend as well.  I get that a P/E over 100 might sound ridiculous, but companies that at least appear to have the potential of great expansion have traditionally always traded with high multiples like that.

Obviously that does make buying Amazon stock a hell of a lot riskier than an older, more stable company with a lower P/E--but with high risk often comes high reward.

I don't know about that... back when the stock price was like $70 or $80 (2007 maybe?) I thought the same thing, P/E around 100, no way this book store can justify that. Pissed away my chance of early retirement right there.
Yeah, I was around way back when, when internet startup stocks were all the rage and I'm sure I could have gotten in early, but I don't think I ever would have predicted Amazon to get to be as dominant as where it is today--even after they stopped selling just books.

The problem with companies like them are that if they have a bad quarter, their stock is going to drop massively.  That P/E over 100 isn't entirely rational.  It was driven that high by hopes for the future.
4980  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Crypto Jobs 2020 on: May 27, 2020, 11:59:36 PM
I think this thread is a bit offtopic, these 50-100 jobs have zero global significance, so it would be more suitable for boards like Services or Project Development or Bitcoin Discussion.
I don't think OP started this thread with the intention of hiring anyone for a particular position, so I'm not sure this belongs in either of those sections.  My impression is that OP just wanted to highlight some crypto-related job opportunities, which probably might look pretty attractive to some who are locked down in their homes.

Unfortunately, I'm not a marketer or computer- or blockchain-savvy enough to take advantage of any of these, but I do find all of these interesting anyway.  On the other hand, I do tend to think that the coronavirus's effects on the global economy are not going to be permanent and that people will eventually get back to work.  A lot of the layoffs we've seen are because businesses have been forced to close.  Once they're permitted to reopen, I would imagine they're going to need their employees back.
