501  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar Cost Averaging Bitcoin on: February 19, 2017, 08:11:52 AM

Anyone dollar cost averaging bitcoin?

Among a few things this article talks about an IRA that allows for purchasing bitcoin AND they'll set up automatic purchases to allow the investor to dollar cost average their cost basis. Pretty mainstream talk here, i'm impressed!

It is what you would do while investing in any asset class. To make sure that you are not affected by volatility in the equity markets, you go in for systematic investment plans. Why should Bitcoin be any different, especially if you are investing serious money in it?
502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 19, 2017, 08:09:31 AM
New Zealand will be facing South Africa and both teams are in good form and if South Africa could win this match they could equal the record for the most winning streaks and on another match Australia will be facing Srilanaka after an upset performance by Srilanka it is going to be another great battle to witness since it is a T20.

New Zealand have scored 207 in 34 overs. It is too bad that rain had to curtail this match. I hope there are no further interruptions due to rain.
South Africa have started well, scoring 80 without losing any wickets. New Zealand have to take wickets if they want to win this match.
503  Economy / Speculation / Re: 11th March, SEC approve or not bitcoin in ETF on: February 19, 2017, 07:27:29 AM
In the long run I think probably better not to have any ETFs. Maybe they are inevitable though. As long as the ETF holdings are transparent on the blockchain they will stay honest, but will that be the case?

Why not? What difference does it make whether people buy and sell bitcoins directly or through the ETF?
The ETF would result in new investors coming to Bitcoin and that is a positive.
504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Can Hit $2K ? on: February 17, 2017, 03:16:42 PM
Hard to say right now and depend on the current rise, if it doesn't go down like it had in 2016 and maintains a stable value around the $1000 for few months then it might IMO, getting to 2k is a large milestone and wouldn't be easy though so if it's not in 2017 it might come within few years.

i don't like if the price is down like in 2016 because in that years, the price is really in deep down and fortunately, the price is rise in almost of the end of the 2016 and now we can see the price is reaching good price. i hope that we can reach $2000 in the middle of this year and in the end of this year, the price is more than $2000.

2016 was a very, very good year for Bitcoin. The price witnessed growth through the year, with a lot of price movement around halving time. The year ended on an excellent note as well.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 17, 2017, 03:09:02 PM
The match look very interesting as Sri Lanka gave a tight match against the Ausies 168 and won the match. The last over was quite good to get an sensational victory. Due to this sure the second match will be a fight back for the Australian team.

Yes, Sri Lanka can take some heart from this victory. Aussies are actually playing T20 against Sri Lanka and warm up matches for the test series in India. That doesn't take away anything from Sri Lanka's victory though.
506  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hedge funds gamble on Mt Gox bitcoin payout on: February 16, 2017, 12:39:02 AM
I'm surprised that they are able to recover anything, but this could be a positive for Bitcoin. It could be a sign to potential investors that even in scams or hacks, some coins can be recovered.

People usually focus on the amount of coins lost, not the amount of coins recovered. In this case, if the hedge funds are able to buy out the claims at a deep discount, Mt Gox users will get screwed twice over.
507  Economy / Economics / Re: Paypal CEO admitted war against cash on: February 16, 2017, 12:35:18 AM
PayPal CEO Dan Schulman on the war against cash
Quote
"I think what we came to the realization of is that the war is really against cash and against waste," Schulman said, speaking from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "There's tremendous leakage in the system."

edit: Removed link. Don't know why link form a well-known news site is classified as suspicious. To find the article look for the title given above.

Rather than admit, you should say acknowledge. A war against cash does work in  favour of players like Paypal.
The governments' war against cash will come a cropper if people decide to shift to alternative assets like gold or Bitcoin.
508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 16, 2017, 12:30:21 AM
Now again we have some good schedule here today Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe and tomorrow we have Two twenty 20 games for today I am going with Zimbabwe because now they have some good practice in last few months against good teams like Sri Lanka and West Indies and they are capable to beat Afghanistan at home

I would go with Afghanistan on this one. Zimbabwe have been a deteriorating side and Afghanistan have some exciting players in their ranks.
If it was a T20 match, I would be more confident about Afghanistan. But I think even in ODIs they have the capability to beat Zimbabwe.
509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 13, 2017, 10:32:34 PM
India won the match finally. The last ball was so controversial as there were two reviews for it. Haven't seen this happening before. Ashwin and Jadeja played really well and took wickets at regular intervals and restricted Bangladesh to 250 runs. I really expected a draw but finally it got a result. Virat truly deserved the man of the match award but I would like to congratulated Bangladesh too as they fought and scored good amount of runs while the target was too high.

Yeah I took a chance at betting on the draw and Bangladesh almost pulled it off as they fought hard to try and get the draw but the Indian bowlers were taking wickets consistently which made it very difficult for the Bangladesh batsman. Overall it was a good test match to watch with a great 1st innings by India which set up the match for them to win. Any time a team scores over 600 runs in the 1st innings usually goes on to win the match.

You had guts betting on a draw. I hope you got very good odds. Purely looking at the rankings, this was a match between the top ranked and bottom ranked test teams. Most people would have predicted an easy Indian victory.
510  Economy / Economics / Re: In which country is capitalism better implemented? on: February 13, 2017, 10:29:51 PM
Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. But in every country there is a different form of practice.

For example, is America and capitalism in Europe the same?
Or is the capitalism in the middle eastern countries and African countries the same?

In which country is capitalism better implemented?

True capitalism is never practiced. You need to deviate to ensure that monopolies don't creep in. You also need to ensure some way for people to pay for public goods.
Every country has its own way of capitalism. In fact, even in a given country, policies change with time. Capitalism in the US of the 90's is not the same as capitalism implemented in the US today.
511  Economy / Speculation / Re: New down trend. $1000 definitively broken. on: February 13, 2017, 10:25:45 PM
There seems to be some resistance at $1000 levels, but it definitely is not insurmountable. Give Bitcoin a quite couple of weeks time and it will creep over $1000 without anybody even noticing. The long-term trend definitely seems to be up.
512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 12, 2017, 02:10:28 AM
Bangladesh have the opportunity to draw this match if they could bat really well for at least three sessions.
Their record when they come into bat for the second innings are really bad and so it his highly unlikely to see that scenario and the pitch might start turning from fourth day and it will be the spinners who has to take the work load and make in roads in their batting line up,the Indian spinners are economical but they have to start taking wickets and i still thing India will win this match.

I will go for an Indian victory too. Bangladesh managed to bat a session without losing a wicket yesterday, but I don't expect them to repeat it again. All 4 wickets will probably be lost before lunch today. Once India manages to get a wicket, they just have to deal with tailenders.
513  Economy / Economics / Re: USD vs BTC on: February 12, 2017, 02:08:17 AM
Trump's policies might result in the popularity of the USD taking a hit. But the gap between USD and BTC is miles wide, and I don't see it closing in the next decade. Bitcoin will of course be the darling of the tech-savvy, anti-establishment crowd.
514  Economy / Speculation / Re: Two newbie questions about anonymity and pump and dumps on: February 12, 2017, 02:04:58 AM
1. Bitcoin is referred to a quasi-anonymous, in that transactions to specific addresses are stored and can thus be tracked. Why doesn’t this provide a means to find out something about who/what is behind big pump and dumps?

What is the point? They aren't doing anything which would be punishable by law.
In most cases, Chinese exchanges would lead the price movements (whether it is a surge or crash).
515  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy back up! on: February 10, 2017, 11:20:04 PM
I hope this enthusiasm won't stop, we didn't saw real price crash, and sky didn't fall down. This is nothing in comparison how many coins are in hands of Chinese, and what could happen if they realy start panick. This make me think that this is just one time news with purpose.

A few of the Chinese did panic and that is the reason the price dipped. But what should make us happy is that Bitcoin has just shrugged it off and we have resumed our upward trend. Business as usual.  Smiley
516  Economy / Economics / Re: Will you invest in a MLM scam in early stage? on: February 10, 2017, 11:14:58 PM
Here is a interesting, hypothetical situation. What will you do if there is a MLM scam going on and it is in early stage. It is assuring 10% monthly return in bitcoins (of course it has that referral bonus part as well but it is optional, you don't need referral as you are getting 10% on your investment.).  B'cause of it's early stage, people are investing happily and getting returns monthly. In short equation of incoming source money > outgoing money. By looking at situation, let's say this scam/scheme will go on two more year.   There are some people who rip benefits from these kind of scams/schemes as they invest very early and in large chunk.

Will you invest in such scheme well before it vanishes with bitcoins/money?

I don't think it is ever possible to say when a scheme will fold; much less that it will last another year. Schemes which receive inflows today might not receive inflows tomorrow. I am by nature a risk-averse person, and I won't invest.
517  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Little problem with Electrum on: February 10, 2017, 11:11:01 PM
Hi, im new in using a desktops wallets, and i choose an a Electrum.

I really like a electrum, but i don't understand how to set up fees properly..

Did you set the fees manually? If so, setting fees automatically should help.
Go to Tools --> Preferences --> Fees.
Enable the checkbox "Use dynamic fees".

518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 10, 2017, 11:07:48 PM
South Africa won the match and the series 5-0 and Srilanka yet again failed to reach 300 runs but Asela Gunaratne played a good innings and scored his maiden ton to take the team from a humiliating defeat, even though South Africa won the series their bowlers suffered at times even at the hands of inexperienced Srilanka which would worry them when they face good teams.

The match was over when South Africa scored 384 runs. There was no way this Sri Lankan team could chase down such a steep score. Sri Lanka were left clueless with both Amla and De Kock scoring centuries. Sri Lanka can only take heart from the performance of Asela Gunaratne, but in the end his century was inconsequential.
With this victory, South Africa become the number 1 team in ODIs.
519  Economy / Economics / Re: Build a Bank Of Bitcoin on: February 10, 2017, 02:36:17 AM
if i build a bank of bitcoin that operating like a traditional fiat money bank when people can save the money and get interest for their saving and also people can get a loan from my bank but the fiat money is change for bitcoin, the question is would you guys trust me to save your bitcoin on my bitcoin bank that i want to build ?

A bank is not a simple institution. They are regulations involved. There is minimum capital adequacy. Depositors are protected through insurance... It isn't easy getting permission and running a bank.
520  Economy / Speculation / Re: PBOC really wants to keep the price of BTC suppressed it seems on: February 10, 2017, 02:34:36 AM
It is not bad at all. The PBOC will try and prevent bubbles from occurring.
But they cannot really keep the price of BTC suppressed for long. This is a minor hiccup and we will resume our upward trend.
