501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 213: Nunes vs Shevchenko 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: July 09, 2017, 03:50:30 PM
It was unfortunate to see the main fight cancelled due Nunes having some sort of illness. Anyway, I enjoyed to see Overeem and Werdum fight which are 2 OGs of the game. I thought Overeem was going to lose by TKO again, but he managed to survive the third round.

Honestly it was a controversial win. It was almost a tie to me. Both could have won, but this things can happen in the fighting game. I guess judges thought round 1 and 2 were a win for Overeem and Werdum failed to finish him in the 3rd round.
502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 09, 2017, 03:26:07 PM
I would go with McGregor even if they are fighting in the boxing ring ,
I am really looking forward for this match even if Mayweather have the advantage I would still go with McGregor.

I know a guy that has bet $500 on a McGregor win, with a return of $5200, so you can imagine the odds are all in a Mayweather win favored. I have always bet on Mayweather winning and I have been making money thanks to his win for ages, I don't see why this time would be any different. Only thing Conor has on him is age advantage and a small amount of reach, and some height and weight difference f you want to count that too on the equation. I think these are meaningless compared to Mayweather's experience and skill.

Conor must use a weird stance to try to out-awkward Mayweather and catch him with a full punch somehow, if he can't do that then it's over.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: July 09, 2017, 01:10:31 PM
We have more info on this one already:

http://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-214?id=

I already picked up my winners

D Cormier vs Jon Jones: DC wins
Woodley vs Maia: Woodley wins
Cyborg vs Evinger: Cyborg wins
Lawler vs Cerrone: Cerrone wins
Sage Northcut vs Magdesi: Northcut wins

I have no idea about the rest so im not picking any sides.

Im going for DC because Jon Jones has fucked up so many times with drugs, that DC will win either by DQ on jones, or by Jones underperforming due his head being a mess, and you can't make a single mistake with DC or it's over.

Jon Jones problem is substance abuse. Alcohol, cocaine, whatever. DC's problem seems to be controlling his eating. Maybe DC is similar to Johny Hendricks. I'm not certain how that will go down. DC looked a lot better fighting Rumble Johnson than Jon Jones looked fighting Ovince St Preux.

Didn't realize Sage Northcutt was fighting. That guy does a good job with his social media and self promotion. I think that's why he gets paid more than other athletes. Sage Northcutt has about twice as many twitter followers as Gegard Mousasi. If only he could do better in his fights.

The only chance to turn his life arround is to win this match, get totally clean and never have a single mistake ever again. The fans will not tolerate another show. If he gets disqualified in UFC 214 because of traces of coke found or whatnot, his career is over. I don't think Dana White is stupid enough to give him another chance. It's pretty much over if he makes another mistake.

Sage Northcutt looks like a Ken or something. He must have so many female fans. Good looking people have it a lot easier in social media. Now he just needs to not get his ass kicked to continue cashing in on that.

505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The main and obvious reason Craig Wright is not satoshi on: July 08, 2017, 06:04:43 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1_gxvx_QGo&t=56m48s

Some guy inteligently asked that in the scenario of a hardfork, would he (Craig Wright) dump his million bitcoins into the competing blockchains to crash them? (which is the most obvious move if you want to defeat the competition)

He went mad when he got asked. This for me is a clear sign of the fact that he does not control these coins.

When asked about the fake proof, he also didn't give any convincing explanation.

I now want to actually see what would happen if there is a hardfork. Surely Craig would move his coins if he is satoshi right?

Who knows? And what is it good for?

All I know, Satoshi understood the game theory.

There are instruments like 'show commitment' and first or second movers choices.

So we need to see what happens in real, but you seems to be worried...

It is precisely why if satoshi understood the game theory and Craig Wright is satoshi, and he wants to compete against the other bitcoin blockchains, why if in the case there is an actual hardfork, he would NEED to dump his coins into the competing blockchain.

If he does not, then it shows 2 possible things:

-He doesn't believe his project (nChain or whatever) is as good as Core's
-He doesn't have the coins (he is not satoshi)
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The main and obvious reason Craig Wright is not satoshi on: July 08, 2017, 05:18:26 PM
here is all the proof I need:

[chronological order]
- there is a block size debate going on.
- CW contacts a couple of known bitcoin devs and asks them to privately see his proof and publicly announce they have seen it and his claims are true
- these devs obviously reject him because it is fishy. (you can see statements of a couple of them around)
- 1 person backs him up. none other than Gavin Anderesson.
- CW goes big, contacts big news sites to publish his claims.
- later we find out the signature or proof provided by CW was a fake and a big lie
- to cover up the lie he refuses to provide public proof but promises to soon move coins
- this bluff is also becomes clear with passage of time
- to cover that up he says something about community treating me bad so I am going away and won't move anything.
- things remain silent for a while
- scaling debate grows bigger. turns into fight over taking over bitcoin by BU camp and a deadline set by UASF
- CW comes out again with his buddies and his nChain trying to use the fake lies to his advantage

- certain accounts become active again here saying CW is Satoshi.

now you tell me this is all coincidences...

and by the way this is how you prove you are creator of something:
simple but at the same time verifiable by anyone (although it is best to include timestamp)

Yup the CW shills come back in sync with the fears of a HF and CW coming back himself, all at once.

I'm sure that it's Satoshi's great plan to stay incognito instead of other crypto-currencies heads likeVitalik Buterin who is nonstop on the mass media. I think Satoshi will appear in front of the audience one day, when it will be the most necessary for Bitcoin.

If "Satoshi will appear in front of the audience one day, when it will be the most necessary for Bitcoin" then bitcoin is a failure. Again, you are missing the point, if bitcoin needs a clear leader, it's obviously not decentralized (like ethereum isn't decentralized, or pretty much any other crypto with a clear leader calling shoots)

Press release in 2 weeks... that will be fun to see. These guys have the biggest egos in the fighting game.

Conor is looking forward to shock the world with a KO, but I think he is a bit delusional and underestimating what he is getting into.
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block size isn't important on: July 07, 2017, 03:06:50 PM
How are you supposed to keep the bitcoin network decentralized if we are having 1GB blocks every 10 minutes? who is the custodial of the network if not a couple of deep pocket corporations and how is that decentralize at that point?

The possession of non-mining nodes doesn't contribute to the decentralization of bitcoin's consensus mechanism, which is SOLELY decided by miners and doesn't need Joe's full node in his basement.  So whether Joe has invested in a node in his basement or not, the ONLY THING Joe's node can do, is to copy the sole chain on which miners came to consensus - whatever that chain is, according to whatever protocol - or NOT copy that chain, at which point his full node stopped, and has the same effect as being removed or switched off, which will affect nobody.

But by the time that bitcoin NEEDS 1 GB blocks, if ever, most Joe's will be prefectly capable of affording such a node in their basement, even though it doesn't serve much of a purpose (it does serve some privacy purpose to Joe but that's about it).

At this point in time, only about 20 entities make all the consensus decisions in bitcoin ; half of them by only 5 entities (which may even be related).  That's the true state of "decentralisation" of bitcoin.  All the people that can only copy those data and serve as a proxy for it are not part of the decision power, and hence are not part of the decentralisation of the consensus.

Running a full node allows you to decide what is bitcoin. If you don't own a full node, you can't decide can bitcoin is, the corporation running the full node which you are relying upon is deciding for you.

Sorry, there's no way around this. Optimal usage of bitcoin requires running a full node, otherwise you are someone else's cuck.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My portfolio - Too much diversification? on: July 07, 2017, 02:40:06 PM
Hi

I've started investing in BTC and ETH one year ago but want to diversify right now a bit more. After a lot of research I found still too many interesting coins, but tried to reduce it down to 10. With maybe 2-3 ICOs, if I find something interesting. I've tried to find coins, with some new technology or disruptive idea, not just a Bitcoin replacement.
What do you think about this distribution? BTC should be around 40% of the portfolio in the end, each other coin around 5%. I have one total amount I want to invest, but for averaging the entry price I will buy every month until the end of the year.

So:

Bitcoin
Ethereum
Litecoin
Factom
Maidsafe
Golem
Gamecredits
Augur
Siacoin
Steem
? Some ICO ?
? Some ICO ?

remove steem and gamecreditc, DGB is better for gaming, siacoin is good but for storage i like burst, or for storage like movie i like LBRy, other are okish i guess, well bitcoin is a must withotu question, for ico i would only suggest Tezos, giga watt and SONM

Digibyte already had it's pump. If the Tezos ICO is uncapped just like Bancor, it will crash, just like Bancor. SONM from what i've heard, you can't trust.

I've heard scam accusations on Steem, I have no idea about the rest.

Ethereum has problems scalling, so im not sure about its tokens as well...

Thought call. I guess anything is good for short term speculation.
511  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mark Cuban on: July 07, 2017, 01:27:27 PM
Mark Cuban did some killer trades back in the dotnet bubble, then he used his celebrity status to leverage all of his investments and get buzz going. He is overrated for anything that has to do with actual understanding of technology. When it comes to blockchain and bitcoin, I know more than him for sure, and I don't know shit about coding. But the idiots on Wall Street have no idea of what's going on. I can guarantee that if you have been here for a couple of months you already know more about bitcoin and blockchain than anyone on GP Morgan or any of these twitter billionaires.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block size isn't important on: July 07, 2017, 12:43:22 PM

First of all, because the scaling is not infinite.  There is a finite amount of potential users of bitcoin.   Even if this finite amount is big, and is reached, the resource problem is not RIDICULOUSLY large.  Satoshi pointed out in 2008, that one can expect, IF EVER BITCOIN IS GOING TO BE A WORLD CURRENCY, to have about 1 GB blocks.

How are you supposed to keep the bitcoin network decentralized if we are having 1GB blocks every 10 minutes? who is the custodial of the network if not a couple of deep pocket corporations and how is that decentralized at that point?
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum-based coins on: July 07, 2017, 02:32:55 AM
When you buy an ETH based coin you are hoping that Ethereum doesnt crash, but events show the ETH network being a mess that's not sustainable. I wouldn't gamble too much, if you buy these tokens, get your profits out asap.
514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC hitting all time highs on: July 06, 2017, 03:54:41 PM
The possible renewed action in Litecoin is due the MIT countdown hype, the countdown is a very hypeish thing and speculators love that so we'll see a possible good performance until the countdown is over, by the time the countdown is over we may see a sell the news event.

Im still holding 0 LTC so good look to these that hold.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 06, 2017, 03:26:28 PM
It's pathetic to see casuals acting like they know more of this match yet didn't even know how and what discipline is going to be followed. It's pretty obvious Connor have very very slim chance of winning. Of course i'll give Connor a puncher's chance.

That was almost the same prediction of analysts to the Pacquiao vs. Horn fight, and the results were not as predicted. In sports, there is always the uncertainty of the outcome. Just like in Gambling, your chance is 90% on winning, yet there are factors that will lead to a loss. The Mafia is there for money-making, etc.

Yes we will predict based on players performance and strength, but I think this match result already decided by Mafia who will win in this game. This is not pure sports bro this completely business. Even players also not play for the company and their team they play for money. We are the idiots love sports and bet for our fav players. Finally, the money will go to mafia and players, and we will get only entertainment and an empty pocket.

You are understimating how big these guy's egos are. You think that Conor McGregor, Mayweather or Pacman would geopardize his legacy for money?

They want to win and no amount of money can brainwash them into taking a loss, because long term that's worse for you.

Sure if the match is close judges can be bought to score one way or another but that's not the point. Both fighters want to win at all costs. Top professional boxers will not lose on purpose for money.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 05, 2017, 10:52:08 PM
A lot of people thought Daniel Cormier would out-wrestle Jon Jones due to Cormier being an olympic level wrestler. The same thing happened when Demetrious Johnson fought olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo. A lot of people thought the olympic wrestler would be able to out-wrestle Demetrious Johnson.

I'm not saying Conor McGregor will definitely win. But I do wonder if MMA fighters can not be outwrestled and dominated by olympic wrestlers if it means Conor won't be dominated and outstruck by a good boxer.

Cormier is an Olympic wrestler but he is fighting in an MMA match against Jon Jones. The comparative is not accurate.

Compare it to a match where they would only strictly wrestle. Then Cormier would have the better odds.

And I think that in the DC-Jones rematch DC will win this time.

Mayweather-McGregor Press Tour to Begin at Wembley Stadium

The press tour for the heavily hyped Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight will kick off in London later this month. According to a story posted on The Sun of London’s website Tuesday, Mayweather and McGregor will officially begin promoting their August 26 fight “in two weeks” at Wembley Stadium in London. The date was not specified in the story, but the event will be open to the public at the same venue that drew roughly 90,000 fans for Anthony Joshua’s 11th-round technical knockout of Wladimir Klitschko in their heavyweight title fight April 29. The press conference will mark the first time boxing’s biggest star and the wildly popular McGregor will come face-to-face in public since their fight was announced.

I'm really excited to see this one. This should be fun and entertainment. We will see which one should be intimated or the better trash talker.  Grin

So the week from 17th to 23th is going to be the press release. They are already playing mind games on social media. Also Conor Mcgregor got a big picture of him punching Mayweather in the head on the wall of his training gym.

Let's see how good this visualization technique is against Mayweather..
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / LTC hitting all time highs on: July 05, 2017, 01:22:33 AM
Litecoin is hitting all time highs as we speak at least dollar wise. It's past $50 now. Unfortunately, I sold mine a while ago since bitcoin was going to supposedly get segwit, even tho the drama doesn't seem to have ended yet o LTC might still have gains within. The speculation will continue until august 1st.. good luck.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright: "You dont need to hold the blockchain. Its ok if only banks do." on: July 04, 2017, 10:44:41 PM
There are 0 convincing arguments thus far to give up on the ability of running a full node as a user. The advantages aren't as good as the disadvantages. You get to buy cheap coffees on-chain, but at what price?

I saw dash mentioned, didn't read the post to be honest, I think dash model has been proven insecure enough times to discard it, also the launch was an instamined scam.
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Overinvested - Hold or sell some positions at a loss? on: July 04, 2017, 06:08:34 PM
I myself am quite heavily invested right now. Would you say it is better to get back into BTC or into some other currency?
For example do you recommend USDT?

I switched some coins to BTC, LTC and USDT. I closed some postiions partly at loss, but I feel much better now, especially the volatility is better. As long as you still feel comfortable I wouldn't close at a loss, but for me it was not the right thing because bitcoin were less than 5% of my portfolio. I still have all of the altcoins, but a much smaller amount. I think that guys' advice in this thread helped me a lot!

Forget about USDT. I was considering it in the past but Tether is a mess. Ever since the dollar ration when to shit a couple months ago it showed the first cracks of a possible collapse. Maybe it's useful for a couple of days but not anything beyond that. You don't want to be holding USDT when it collapses and you are stuck with them.
