502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official launch CryptogenicBullion (CGB)! PoS/PoW ~1 Million Cap on: August 10, 2013, 01:46:46 PM
Sounds like a great idea!!! I am always glad to see crypto's THAT ARE DIFFERENT... NOT JUST A NEW NAME ON THE SAME CLIENT!!! Especially when there is long term potential!!! I just built the CGB source and launched it, so here's to CryptogenicBullion (CGB) Grin  !!!
I will probably be adding this crypto also, into my current project, *TOP SECRET*, which will help many websites, accept crypto payments, automatically (AFTER X amount of CONFIRMS) without having to worry about losing out when there is a spike in a certain crypto price!

503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WINNERS ANNOUNCED! CGB Logo/Brand Design Contest! on: August 10, 2013, 12:48:14 PM
Guys, it was announced from the beginning what we were looking for.  We wanted a play on bullion bar.  What Joe Mattie provided was what we thought as a cool combination of cryptography and bullion.  And Cryptasm's logo had the simplicity of bitcoin or a litecoin symbol and yet also possessed modernity.  We combined them and that's our winner.  But in my mind, Cryptasm's logo is THE logo of Cryptogenic Bullion.  Although the bullion bar is an image we'll use a lot in our marketing campaign...

505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spots [SPT] NEW COIN | NOW USED TO PURCHASE SILVER | Win | Mac | Linux | on: August 10, 2013, 12:54:37 AM
Does anyone else think the igotspots logo looks like a used maxipad? Or is that literally the 'spots' igotspots is referring to?
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500 CGB BOUNTY!!! New CGB Logo Design Contest! RULE CHANGE! on: August 06, 2013, 01:51:34 AM
changed up the last submission slightly, thought the centred logo looked to uniform.

I dig it.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500 CGB BOUNTY!!! New CGB Logo Design Contest! RULE CHANGE! on: August 05, 2013, 11:22:07 PM
Awesome, guys!

I really like that font.  What is it?

The fonts name is Wipeout.  I think it looks better enlarged like the image below.  That being said each image is layered so anything can be changed quite easily or elements added/removed if requested.  Smiley

Cool, thanks.

Thanks Smiley

You mean just like this?

511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gox Litecoin Update: "We're looking forward to the rollout" but not sure when. on: August 05, 2013, 01:50:33 PM
Within 24 hours of the first facebook announcement, huge sell walls started slamming LTC on Btc-e.  And they continued consistently for over a week.  And yet, LTC was 'officially' slated to be traded on Mtgox...so why would whales sell so aggressively?  I leave it up to you to speculate what was going on...
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500 CGB BOUNTY!!! New CGB Logo Design Contest! RULE CHANGE! on: August 05, 2013, 01:23:54 PM
Thought I'd try one...

I dig it.

How about just the words?  I like that font too!

Please spread your hash rate!  No pool should provide more than 51% of the network hash rate.  This risks forking the blockchain.

pools:

Ah, your old peers.dat is the problem.  For whatever reason, you're the only one getting this error.  No one on the team can duplicate your issue.  And we have not heard of anyone else with this issue either.

Looks like cgb.smalltimeminer.com is down.  I have pm'd Bigal.

I have been mining at cgb.epools.org and all has been fine, so until Bigal gets the pool back up, I'd suggest using one of the alternatives.  Smiley

Bigal's pool is back up and running.  Everything is looking good at cgb.smalltimeminer.com.  Thanks for your patience.

Everybody knew when the reward would halve...so they were all mining and buying it like crazy before it happened (inflating the price.) It's the same routine every time a currency halves - price typically peaks right before it happens and then actually drops. Network speed (and therefore, difficulty) drops 50%+ as well so it remains just as profitable to mine as it was shortly before the reward reduction. This goes against conventional wisdom...but makes sense when you think about it. The good news is that you don't always have to be an early adopter to turn a profit...and the bonus rewards are there early to lure in miners and reward them for taking a chance early on an unproven currency.

People think they'll make a killing with the bonus rewards but it ends up being a wash usually. The bonus rewards are never as profitable as they seem. Look at PHS right now - with the double rewards, difficulty was over 4 at one point toward the end. After being halved, the difficulty is dipping below 1 now. I'm actually mining nearly twice as much PHS as I was before the reward halved. Look at MegaCoin - the reward halved and the difficulty dropped to 1/4 of where it was before. End result? I'm mining MEC twice as fast as I was before the reward halved (reward is half, but Im brining in 4 times as many blocks.)

The majority of people tend to think the same way...so I prefer to sit back and see how it plays out. Haven't really missed out yet.

None of those coins you mentioned will halve their subsidy to 0.01 per block.  Just some food for thought...

Can you render this without the background?  ...Just the bar itself?
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500 CGB BOUNTY!!! New CGB Logo Design Contest! on: August 04, 2013, 02:00:41 PM

USB snowflake!  I don't know how exactly that pertains to CGB, BUT I like it.  Actually, now that I think about it, it does relate to the whole ice/cryogenic/cold storage theme Elambert is trying to go for.

My suggestion, make it hexagonal, with 6 longer stems and 6 shorther one.  Like so,

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://imagesci.com/img/2013/04/snowflake-background-8906-hd-wallpapers.png&imgrefurl=http://imagesci.com/snowflake-background-8906-hd-wallpapers.html&h=2480&w=2480&sz=195&tbnid=7VxLtVYVzgI__M:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__BSdUdunOS0IYWgnJhbyAjWxAZOY=&docid=5vyeQsrOb9vcqM&sa=X&ei=ZF_-UcxWpOTgA67SgbAL&ved=0CFAQ9QEwBg&dur=2467

Also, just curious how it'll look with 4 long stems and 4 short ones.
