5021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Bounties are not worth the effort - Limit the numbers on: February 08, 2018, 12:47:27 PM
I have observed that many ICOs that have a signature bounty campaign end up not being worth due to the huge number of participants. I think that ICOs should limit the number of signature participants to avoid a disappointed community. ICO campaign managers could probably advise their clients about it.

I have seen only one ICO at the moment that provides a limited number of people in the signature campaign and also a fixed payment in USD for each rank. I think that is a fair way of promoting for everyone.

It is a trade-off between how many people should be rewarded, and how much they should be rewarded, and this is the company's decision to make. It is in their best interests to maximise the number of participants as that gives them more exposure. For various reasons they might limit the number of participants, but again this is entirely up to the company concerned. It is essentially a freelance marketplace. The company sets the terms, and prospective workers decide whether or not to accept those terms.
5022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the NEO Cryptocurrency Price Jumped More Than 50% on: February 08, 2018, 11:38:59 AM
Price Has Skyrocketed

Prices of top cryptocurrencies are rebounding, and investors are rejoicing. There’s green flashing everywhere. The cryptocurrency markets have finally broken the bad spell and are now in recovery mode. The great crypto market crash of 2018 is officially over.

As I scroll down the list of top 10 cryptocurrencies, there’s one name that catches my eyes. This cryptocurrency saw its price skyrocket more than 50% during the market recovery.

Full Source... https://www.profitconfidential.com/cryptocurrency/neo/neo-cryptocurrency-price-jumped-more-50/

I don't think that there is a real recovery at the market... I guess BTC will drop to 6000 once again to make a double bottom pattern or it could go even lower to 5500. About NEO. I like this project. I suppose many players see the real potential and where it can go. It fell a lot so ppl wanted to get in so this is the result and the evidence of its strength.

Agreed that it is too early to call a recovery, and agreed that NEO is a great project with great potential for 2018. The price did indeed drop more than it should have relative to other coins, and I was one of the people to take advantage and increase my quantity of NEO. I really think it will go from strength to strength, particularly given the insular nature of much of China's economy.
5023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What we need to check before investing in ico? on: February 08, 2018, 11:27:35 AM
Note : your suggestion is appreciate to add the detail above.

One thing I would add that is important is any competitors. A project may look great and tick all the boxes for white paper, roadmap, team etc... but if they are trying to solve the same problem as an already established competitor, then this must be taken into account.
5024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are altcoins from bitcoin? on: February 08, 2018, 10:51:37 AM
How exactly do altcoins gain value? There are so many altcoins out there and honestly you can see connection among these in terms of the drop and rise of price.

There is a link to bitcoin as bitcoin is the gateway to crypto, and if you start with fiat, for a lot of coins you have to go via bitcoin before you can buy them. Also when there is a news report saying something about bitcoin, this is generally interpreted to mean the whole crypto market, so prices tend to move together on this sort of news.
There are also independent moves where one coin goes up or down according to its own developments, but this can be buried beneath bigger whole market movements.
5025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoint down on: February 08, 2018, 10:39:58 AM
what actually happens why altcoin all red blush

Without going into too much depth, the simple explanation is that the whole market tends to move in cycles. We had a big surge in December, now is the time for every coin to lose some value. We rose too fast, now the prices are correcting. They will eventually settle down and then we will be ready for the next market move.
5026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it too late to buy NEO? on: February 08, 2018, 10:15:46 AM
What do you guys think? Is it too late to buy NEO? sitting at $15.

Yes, a thread from long ago - but not that long ago, only a few months. It shows how quickly expectations can change.
BTW - still not too late to buy Smiley
5027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I bought on all time high on: February 08, 2018, 09:53:57 AM
I hate my life so much right now xD

Who else bought on ATH?  Huh

If it is a good project then you have no reason to be worried. ATH is not really all-time, it's only all-time so far. By the end of the year I think the Dec/Jan ATH will look very small. The path leads upwards; don't panic!
5028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2 Ethereum or 15 NEO for long term on: February 08, 2018, 09:42:15 AM
I want to invest in Ethereum or NEO for next two years, need $15k

Is is better to hold 2 Ethereum or 15 NEO till 2020?

IMO, NEO can reach $1000 easily this year but its hard for Ethereum to reach $10k till 2020.

What do you suggest?

If you can't decide between two coins then often the best approach is to split and go for a smaller amount in both. If you put everything into NEO and ETH goes up, you will be annoyed with yourself. Same if you buy ETH and NEO goes up.
If you can't decide then go for both.
5029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite Token? and why? on: February 08, 2018, 09:18:12 AM
Mine is Rivetz (RvT)

It has so much potential to become one of the profitable lead token.
Already accepted by some exchanges and wallets

What is yours?

Probably NEO at the moment. I do try not to have favourites as that is an emotional attachment, and it can be hard to sell a favourite even when it is logical to do so.
5030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way handle an airdrop? on: February 08, 2018, 09:07:29 AM
Hi guys

I've been working on an on ERC20 project for a while now. It will take some more months and I won't tell what it is about.  Wink

But I want to implement an airdrop logic so everyone can get a free amount. It should be distributed free and fair.

So I would like to ask the community, how would you handle an airdrop? I will try to pick the best thoughts and put them toghether, so we might geht some good airdrop scheme.

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas. Smiley

I think it is a good idea to do everything you can to prevent multi-accounting, so that everyone only gets one share. There are various methods you can use to help with this - although formal KYC is a step too far for an airdrop and might cause a lot of people to stay away.
5031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Manipulations of billions of dollars! on: February 07, 2018, 07:43:39 PM
Agreed that there is a lot of manipulation, but it's an unregulated market, so...

I think the main reason for the recent fall is a lot of newcomers who bought in at December ATH panicked and decided to cut their losses. Traders no doubt exploited the drop to short their coins, so making prices fall further. Plus obviously the numerous negative media reports.

The market was overheated and we could all see that we were due a dip, regardless of any manipulation by big players.
5032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How will this drop in prices of BTC and ETH affect ICOs on: February 07, 2018, 07:16:47 PM
I have been wondering lately what the effects of this huge decline in btc and ETH ( other cryptos too)prices will have on ICOs, especially those concluded when prices are high but have not moved to the next phase of their project execution?

I don't know. Some ICOs have said during the big price rise that they would reduce their hard cap because ETH is now worth so much more... but now that it has fallen a lot, that means their hard caps have fallen too.
The volatility is a problem for caps to be set in crypto.
5033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GREEN, GREEN, GREEN a great color on: February 07, 2018, 07:04:46 PM
2 hours of green today and then red again.
You do not know what in 12 hours...

It is indeed nice to see some green again. The dip was necessary, but I hope we are now coming out of it and can have a period of stability before the next rise.

5034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a liability for all coins on: February 07, 2018, 06:53:10 PM
I see many altcoins following ethereum and ethereum following btc. It looks like for the first time since I have been following crypto Eth is worth more than 10% of btc on a consistent basis. It would be nice to see that number close to 25%.

I think that bitcoin market dominance is only heading one way - downwards.
Not particularly due to deficiencies in BTC, more the viability of alts.

5035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying NEO. Yes or No?! on: February 07, 2018, 06:38:15 PM
I am reading so many good things about NEO, or to say
Chinese Ethereum. I am thinking to buy it and I need your
advice on this.
Is NEO a good long term investment? Which wallet is the
best for NEO?
Is there anyone here who wish to sell some NEO, or I need
to register at some exchange site and buy NEO?
Thanks for all the answers, I hope we can make some good
deals here.

I really like NEO and hold a decent % of my total crypto in this coin. It should have a great 2018.
I don't have an opinon on whether current price is high or low relative to other coins, as obviously everything has dropped recently and by varying amounts.
Long term I think NEO is a greta option.
5036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a liability for all coins on: February 07, 2018, 06:19:07 PM
Firstly, let's drop the altcoin bullshit. Not all are Bitcoin clones looking to hitch a ride on BTC.

Bitcoin has a governance problem, so does every non-masternode coin. The wrong people are in charge of software updates. Greedy mining firms profit from high fees and will not scale it. Any coin that uses the same governance model is just as weak. BTC could be great, but the core team in charge now clearly profits from transaction fees, and like all corrupt institutions, their main strategy is silence. Investors may have finally wised up and realized BTC cannot deliver in its current state. Now it will keep having pullbacks due to backlog. It's hurting the whole ecosystem. We need to detach BTC from the rest of the coins if the people who can scale it won't, we need to drop the dead weight.

I'm sure Satoshi would be happy if any decentralized currency based on his blockchain code can deliver his goals.

For people outside the crypto sphere, bitcoin is cryptocurrency. One thing that would cause this to change is if another coin - I suppose ETH is the likeliest - supplants BTC as number one in cap. I think this would create massive media attention, and widen the focus from bitcoin to encompass all of the alternatives. And once the gates are open, they'll be difficult to shut...
5037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some problems in IOTAs protocol that can be fixed? on: February 07, 2018, 06:07:08 PM
I've looked into IOTA and i think their tech is amazing , perhaps they might have had some collusions in their cryptography , but i think it could be huge.

What are some other problems in IOTA do you know of , that exists in the IOTA protocol?

Thanks guys!

Why do you think their tech is amazing? They weren't first and they can't get a single thing right, not sure whats so amazing about it. Sounds good in theory but practically its utter garbage.

Which other cryptocurrencies do you recommend which can do what IOTA can? (Oracle / unlimited tx/s / unlimited scalability / sharing of data / selling of data)

IoTChain and SkyCoin. And IOTA can't do any of that stuff, it still has to proof itself, people are going wild on the future potential of it whilst it looks like it could easily be the first one to fail. Also I personally can't stand their development team, seems like a bunch of ****

Second vote here for SkyCoin. I've picked up a bit. Very low cap at the moment, and a very worthwhile project. Compared to IOTA, SkyCoin is severely under-hyped!
5038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The path to mainstream adoption is rocky on: February 07, 2018, 05:56:05 PM
It's been a very volatile couple of months, even by the standards of crypto. Looking at the entire market cap, there was a huge rise in December and a similarly huge dip in Jan. Obviously a big dip is to be expected following a sudden rise, but I think there is a reason that this one stands out.

The slew of media articles was I think the principal driver for the rise, and the mainstream nature of the coverage caused new 'mainstream' people to invest in bitcoin and alts. Crypto is headed inexorably towards the mainstream, and with each step that it takes it will attract a greater percentage of people who know nothing about the tech and maybe have not even heard of the word 'blockchain'. This absence of belief in the underlying tech and the transformative nature of blockchains and decentralisation causes them to be more skittish, and sell up at the first sign of a bear market. Essentially they are not buying into the ethos, but merely into a new asset class. This I think is why both the rise and the dip were so severe.

What I'm saying is that I think we could have more of the same. The closer we get to the mainstream, the more 'mainstream' the new people who buy in, and so the more volatile the markets. Yes, traders will exacerbate any situation by shorting, but this is a symptom not the cause.

Just an opinion, feel free to shoot me down - but I do believe that the path to the mainstream will become increasingly rocky. There is also the ongoing threat of new legislation, but agian I think this is symptom not cause. The cause is the new class of people entering the market.

(Apologies if this thread is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to put it.)

The most amazing thing about IOTA is the insane level of hype. In theory it's great, but in practice there is a great deal still to prove. I think the jury is still out really.
I'm not saying it's a bad coin, just that I think the hype exceeds what is merited by the current state of the project.
5040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ripple comes to 2 dollar by end of Feb 2018 on: February 07, 2018, 05:33:44 PM
Will Ripple comes to 2 dollar by end of Feb 2018? Please give us your comments and analysis.

I think it will yes, not just because of what XRP is doing, but because of the whole crypto market. I know we have a slump at the moment, but we will recover and crypto will grow through 2018. The main reason I think that XRP will pass $2 is that it has already done it before, so that is not an all-time high, and I think a lot of coins will hit new all-time highs later in 2018.
