5021  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your Website has been hacked!!! *Fake Mail Alert* *Be Smart and Be Safe* on: May 01, 2020, 01:32:49 PM
The funny part of all this is when you receive this email and you do not even own a website of your own, wild miss scammers  Grin

This is an empty threat from scammers as usual, very easy to detect, who sends money to blackmailers without being sure they have your documents they claim they have, if they have private information on your website truly, they'll include a copy of it in this mail.
5022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will this have any impact or not? on: May 01, 2020, 11:51:19 AM
It seems to me that, because the way the stability is progressing is really the ferocious,
Altcoins are not getting stable, how can it be when almost every project is a scam one and most coins are pumped and dumped, project managers manipulating their coins, selling them to their friends/scam partners and form/create an illusion of the coins doing well in the market, when in the real sense of it, it's just a method of raising money from investors and giving them shitcoins back; the negative side of the altcoin industry is intense, I cannot predict stability for the industry unless all this is corrected(and it won't).
5023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbie where do you see yourself in 5years? on: May 01, 2020, 09:59:58 AM
Setting a five year goal or target shouldn't just be on the forum, it should embrace many, if not all other aspects of the cryptocurrency industry. Newbies often misinterpret what actually should be their purpose. Setting a legendary rank target for example in five years time isn't a bad idea, but also within that time having the wherewithal and copious knowledge of cryptocurrency, capable of speaking about it anywhere, even in seminars(or Just a small meet-up), writing articles to teach others and newbies coming behind you, etc, imo is more important.
Every newbie (all most of them) just want to copy someone's successful strategy and one day become someone on this forum.
From my perspective, that's were they get it wrong, they should be only have the vim to succeed on this forum, it's self limiting imo.
5024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are increasing on: May 01, 2020, 09:29:45 AM
I made this thread: The halving Gusto two days ago, and I think it's something similar to the point you're trying to make, there will be more people making wrong decisions this period, it's this poorly thought out decisions that'll make them get scammed. I do not even believe scammers increase in numbers, they only get more victims when BTC price appreciates(and also when anticipated events like the halving gets traction), that then makes it look like more scammers were introduced to cryptocurrency, while actually it was people's greed and "get rich quick" ideas that caused it all.
5025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit isn't everything in bitcointalk! on: April 29, 2020, 05:03:14 PM
I wasn't aware that smerits get refilled every month, although I am aware that merit sources are indeed established members here already.
smerits get refilled monthly, but that's only for the merit sources . If you're not a merit source, you don't get any monthly automatic smerit refill from the forum. The only way a user can get smerits as a "non-merit source" is to earn merits, the more merits you earn, the more sendable merits(smerits)you have to send, but merit sources on the other hand have both their source smerits and earned smerits to spend.
5026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The halving Gusto on: April 29, 2020, 01:13:32 PM
Don't get why people have to wait for this late to get bitcoin that they would had probably gotten very cheap few weeks/months back.
FOMO, they do not want to miss out(back then the hype wasn't this much)on what they read in the news, journalists have started writing a lot of articles about the halving you know, when novices read this articles, then the fear of missing out clothes them, then out of impulse they are suddenly "over interested". It's the same thing that happens anytime the price of bitcoin goes high, newbies come into the forum more during those periods(man, not from the genital point of view, loves quick money). Bitcoin crossed 8000 today, I'm sure many newbies will pull out from their shells and visit the forum more often as a result(and start threads on the bull run).
5027  Other / Beginners & Help / The halving Gusto on: April 29, 2020, 10:35:02 AM
Alot of newbies fall under the influence of "the halving gusto" and I think it good they be forewarned/corrected. Just today I was contacted by two of my friends(total novices on bitcoin)at the University of their desire to buy bitcoins(they've heard me say one or two things about bitcoin)because they read somewhere on the internet that there's something called halving that's about to happen and bitcoin is going to rise to more than fifty thousand dollars(this friends of mine are actually planning to buy bitcoins with far more than they have, so they're going to most likely borrow/take loans)I did advice without discouraging them on bitcoin anyway.

I don't know how many newbies here on bitcointalk are planning on doing the same thing, the halving is well anticipated, and it may(or may not)have a high appreciation in the price of bitcoin; But with that said there are things you should not do.
1)You should not invest more than what you can afford to lose because of the upcoming halving.
2)Do not take loans just to invest in bitcoin(because the halving is close), you could be left with debts to pay.
3)If you do not have knowledge about bitcoin/halving(like my friends), don't just act based on what's on the internet, always verify to make sure you are making the right choice.
4)If you have never invested in bitcoin, you shouldn't just do so now because of the halving, you will be jumping the part you have to learn, and that could mean making mistakes.
5)Do not feel the pressure of investing because alot of people are, it should be your decision and choice to make.
5028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 27, 2020, 10:30:23 PM
Barcelona wants every good player, the reality is that they have no money for the best. 2-3 years with Messi, after that they will not be tempting for promising players.
desperate management leads them to ruin. Just think, after they sell Neymar and take highest money from the transfer, do you know where they spend this money? which player bought and that he is still worth or is essential for these team? The ANswer is zero. For example, Coutinho paid 150m, now they worth maybe 60m. Just maybe.
Any footballer needs to think "anyone rather than Barcelona". just the facts.
Barcelona can sign any player they want to, even the best players and they also have the best player in the world in Messi, another reason why players will love to wear a Barca shirt. I am also sure it's almost every footballers dream to play for Barcelona, to play alongside Lionel Messi, it's true good coaches have been hard to come by for them in recent years, but it doesn't change the truth/fact that they can attract any player in the world to camp nou.

Coutinho flopped, but I think it was more of his fault than that of Barcelona, he found it difficult to adapt to the Spanish style of play, and I always felt he was better suited in England. Any new player who adapts to Barcelona's style of play and blends into the team will definitely succeed.
5029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 27, 2020, 03:58:28 PM
To be honest, the rules are very strict. Especially the part about training being done in small groups or on an individual basis. It's a very common training routine that the attack and midfield players play against the defenders during practice sessions. That will not be possible to do in the near future, and so many other things.
Indeed this will affect the cohesion and understanding amongst the players, they are used to training as a group and getting instructions from the coach and assistants, they have some adapting to do; training individually or with few other players(i'll guess 3-4). The players will find it difficult to give their best on the field when the matches resume, it won't be easy, but I know they are professionals and they'll do their best.
5030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit isn't everything in bitcointalk! on: April 27, 2020, 02:47:26 PM
This is so true, merit system is far from perfect, for example I see many posts that I think deserve at least some merit, but I'm always out of smerit, and I know that I have no chance of becoming a merit source, because that position is for very established forum users only.
Hope there could be a workaround for this, like if one established member has simply lost smerit, maybe it could be forwarded to a more established forum user so that other newbie forum users could be recognized somehow (if deserving).
You didn't understand what the poster wrote, many times users that aren't merit sources may want to give merits to a post, but have none to give, so they skip the post as they can't merit it;  but Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source can help. What hatshepsut93 meant was he also finds himself in that position and is not a merit source.

Merit sources are established members, who get refilled with smerits every month to give them to good posts on the forum, though I consider hatshepsut93 a very good user and should apply to be a merit source if he feels the need to.

Finally, smerits don't get lost, you send them to good posts and a newbie cannot be recognized or established, it's takes a lot of time to get that status, and efforts to.
5031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency - fiat currency on: April 27, 2020, 01:50:10 PM
1. Investing cryptocurrency is more profitable compared to fiat currency because of its volatility.
It's not possible to invest in fiat currency, so I would not add this to the advantages of bitcoins(over fiat),you can only use fiat to invest in a business, buy stocks and even buy bitcoin itself. If you're holding 5 pounds today, it'll still be 5 pounds in a years time, it doesn't appreciate, though economical factors may play a part and what you can afford with that 5 pounds will either increase or reduce, but it still remains 5 pounds(so fiat is used to invest, not invested in)
3. More helpful when economy crisis happens
Bitcoin is not a safe haven in a situation of an economic crisis, in fact an economic crisis can lead to bitcoin crashing in price and people losing large chunks of their investments. For example in the case of this corona pandemic(which is an economic crisis), I think more people will consider fiat more helpful at this time, and will even sell their bitcoins to hold fiat,  for it's spontaneity in meeting their needs.
5032  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Identifying and Avoiding Fake Apps on: April 27, 2020, 07:49:55 AM
Lessen also the downloading of non sense apps. If you don't need the app then don't download it. What typically happens is that whenever they see an interesting app and it says they can earn from it, they'll download it without thinking and research.
scammers and cyber criminals are reluctant to target apps that do not get traffic and many downloads(that doesn't mean they don't), there is more risk in the most popular apps and websites, sites they know alot of people use and many new people try to dowmload everyday. Just like the situation with zoom few weeks ago, it became a target because of the number of people using the app increased.(the more valuable an app or website is, scammers try to impersonate it more)
5033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top exchange listed bounties is getting sucks on: April 27, 2020, 07:09:40 AM
Delay distribution is a very normal thing in this market. I have seen hundreds of bounty have delayed distribution in 2019 so I'm not too surprised.
I have also seen more than hundred bounty projects that do not pay, and investors receive no ROI, they just make an exit scam and close their bounty group; I think many bounty hunters will prefer delayed payments to no payment at all.

If OP is new to altcoin bounties, then he should get used to all this, you will be lucky to get a bounty that will succeed, it doesn't even matter if they delay distribution or not, majority of the coins will be worthless or the project itself a scam.
5034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free Storage for Coronavirus Research made by Storj on: April 27, 2020, 06:40:51 AM
Corona virus pandemic is a terrible experience, one I do not wish the world to ever experience again, but it has in one way or the other brought the world together, covid 19 now is the "enemy" and every country/organization is supporting one another to defeat it for good. Storj has contributed in their own way, any help to those that make researches on this pandemic is helping the course to end it, this free storage will make what they do easier, and make their research faster.

I have also helped out in my local community in my own little way, donating to a few families around that are struggling this period, we can only end this pandemic if we unite and encourage one another and also support our doctors and medical practitioners risking their lives to being others back to health.
5035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 25, 2020, 06:01:52 PM
Good enough to be the first and best in the first season?
Hell no, there's no chance Newcastle will win the premier league in the first season of the "billionaire takeover"(that's if the takeover happens) and besides the players on that "fantasy" team do not have what it takes to win the EPL imo.

Look at Manchester City, even after skeikh took over, it wasn't an instant success, they spent some seasons buying the wrong players for huge amounts. Newcastle will be content with 5th to 7th position on the table in the first season, if they get this rich owners.
5036  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fundraising threads on behalf of COVID-19. Don't trust, verify. on: April 25, 2020, 07:46:21 AM
I think once the fundraising campaign is run by just one person(mostly newbies)with no escrow, then it is a scam...you cannot run a fundraising campaign on the forum all on your own with your personal bitcoin address; you need to convince people that the funds they are raising for the poor is actually for them, and to do that, you must be a trusted(established)user and another trusted user will escrow the funds, before you send funds to any fundraising campaign you're not sure of, verify through questions, you can start a thread to get opinions from others, just to be sure.

If you want to be of help to people scourged by this pandemic, you can always help that neighbor next door or donate food items to your local grocery store to distribute it to the poor.
5037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 25, 2020, 07:12:12 AM
Meh, Giroud has been finished as a top performer for a few years now. You could be right, making him sign a new deal on possibly higher wages gives him a couple of months pay rise before he might be sold so Chelsea get a fee then & it’s a win for both parties.
Chelsea should have sold Olivier Giroud in January, I think around that time a few clubs were interested in signing the French man(and he wasn't getting playing time). Extending his contract now is the only way to ensure that Chelsea will get some money from him when they eventually sell him, because I'm sure Giroud doesn't have any chance in Chelsea anymore, Abraham is preferred to him, and he is 33 years of age, Chelsea will be interested in a younger striker for sure.
5038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 24, 2020, 05:35:28 PM
Do you see him taking the job?
No i don't see Mauricio pochettino taking the job at Newcastle, I also don't want him to. I don't know if any top European team that probably wants a manager, but I want poch in a big team, in a champions league team and a team that competes for titles every season, he will be paid well in Newcastle, but he won't achieve much.
...I think he should be stopped because It's not good for the Football like Mancity and Psg,...
Nothing can be done if he wants to buy Newcastle. Money is now very important in football, just look at how much players cost in the market, only the big and rich teams can buy the best players, to compete and match up as a team you need money. Newcastle will be much better if the billionaire takes over.
5039  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some question about trust summary in different sections. on: April 24, 2020, 11:16:07 AM
...But for me it doesn't matter because if you really want to know whether it is a right person to talk to, you should visit his  her profile...
I will not hurriedly conclude a user is trustworthy if I do not visit the users trust page, even if it shows when the user makes a post on some boards where it shows up. Before the trade takes place you'll still need to check why the user was given either a positive or a negative feedback, and if it's legitimate or not, the reference links and if the feedbacks violated or is in accordance with correct use of the trust system, some trusted members even get retaliatory feedbacks, so the feedbacks only showing in some section doesn't really matter, and one should always visit the users profile to see the trust score and make their decision.
5040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto on older systems (DOS, BASIC, etc...) on: April 23, 2020, 09:59:05 PM
The newer technologies imo is even easier to access and more convenient to use, even for people living in third world countries than this older models. I believe it's fallacious to think that outdated systems would be more convenient for people. For example it costs nothing to be connected on the bitcoin blockchain network, you only need a smartphone, data and a bitcoin wallet.
