5041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC dumps on high inflation report.. on: September 14, 2022, 12:27:40 AM
Important report comes out that inflation is pretty bad (USD)..

Bitcoin dumps off a cliff..

This is the exact opposite of what Bitcoin is supposed to do..

Has Bitcoin strayed too far from its purpose?

Bitcoin is a speculative asset.  It doesn't react to news or what fiat is doing.  Investors saw a bad report and took profits.  That's all there is to it.  Over a long enough period of time Bitcoin will outperform fiat due to inflation, but it's not going to be inversely correlated with every quarterly report.  When risky assets become back in favor Bitcoin will do what it does, but in bad times you must remember it is first and foremost a speculative asset (at least for now).
5042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the blockchain be hacked? Ask again. on: September 14, 2022, 12:24:53 AM
That's not what happens. 51% attack can undo the last blocks and replace them with new blocks, but the blocks still have to be valid. They can't edit the blockchain and transfer someone's bitcoins.

That's not totally true.  If you look at what Bitcoin Gold did (I believe that's the fork that did it) they actually reorganized the forked chain to unlock satoshi's coins for their dev team.  This was also Craig Wright's plan for satoshi's coins on the BSV chain.  He believed if he could convince the world he was satoshi, he could order miners to go along with a new fork where satoshi's coins had been given to him.  Sure, this is insane and nobody would support a reorg or a forked Bitcoin chain to move coins around, but it is definitely possible.  Maybe someday in a distant future people will decide to fork BTC to unlock satoshi's coins for some good cause.  I could see this happening before increasing the amount from 21 million to further block rewards.
5043  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2022, 12:19:45 AM
A nice sized volume sell off for the market has me feeling a little more bullish than I was yesterday.  It's so predictable to watch all the leveraged longs pile in as soon as we start headed up, only to be liquidated shortly after.  There really are no shortcuts.  No matter how low the price is and how bullish the landscape looks, don't get greedy and start leverage trading.  It's not worth it.  You will lose your money.
5044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [POLL] After the merge the price of Ethereum will go? on: September 14, 2022, 12:16:05 AM
As we approach the Ethereum merge (approximately 27 hours away) I'm curious what the community thinks the price will do.  Do you think the merge will cause a lot of selling as people look to book profits, or will people buy up all they can to enjoy the higher staking %?  Who knows what will happen.  Maybe this community?

Be sure to vote which way you think it will go, even if you're not sure.  Smiley
5045  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is everyone ready for Bitcoin's NEXT LEG DOWN ??? Federal Reserve Tightening on: September 13, 2022, 11:43:02 PM
Who is going to ride the next bitcoin crash down Huh

Me I guess.  I'm fully expecting the market to continue dropping for a few months, but I'm not worried about it or rushing to sell what crypto I have.  This is because I also expect it to rise to new highs once the dust settles.  I plan to use the next year of low prices as an opportunity to stack sats and wait for the right time to do something great.  I think the only real concern holders should have is surviving until the next moon shot.
5046  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying the OP at a glance (SMF patch) on: September 13, 2022, 12:46:22 PM
I just noticed this feature has been added to the forum. Very cool addition. Seems like it’s been a while since anything has been implemented so it’s nice to know things are still being worked on. I don’t see any downside to this addition so it seems like a great decision to add it. Nice to see new things around here.
5047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 13, 2022, 06:52:13 AM
It was a cool moment in the press conference for this fight when Anderson Silva, Jake Paul, & Logan Paul recreated a picture they took 13 years ago when the Paul brothers were just kids happy to meet Silva. Google it if you haven’t seen the side by side images. It’s pretty cool that they did that. Anderson Silva seems like a really great guy. I hope the fight goes well for him.
5048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Polygon (MATIC) to $20? on: September 12, 2022, 09:24:32 PM
Polygon (MATIC) is one of my favorite altcoins.  I think the road to $20 will be a long hard one though.  Mostly because the amount of big investors that are up massive amounts on their investment and will no doubt sell on the way up to cash profits.  Not to mention the various staking schemes that are dumping tons of fresh coins on the market as these same investors look to profit while holding onto their original coins.  I suspect it will be difficult to break the $5 barrier, but more importantly I think it will enable a lot of low cost transactions to help speed up adoption in the metaverse.
5049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: now is the right time to buy XRP on: September 12, 2022, 09:22:12 PM
I'm amazed that there are still people pushing this Ripple scam.  Surely nobody around when it was launched or has any knowledge of the events that unfolded would touch this garbage.  It's literally the biggest shitcoin in existence.  If you don't know about the history of Ripple/XRP and are considering holding any of this crap, take it from a old timer around here, you're better off doing literally anything else with your money.  Run screaming from Ripple/XRP.
5050  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did you sign a petition to kick Russia from UN? on: September 12, 2022, 09:07:45 PM
I didn't sign it because I think it would be pretty crazy if global decisions like this were made with petitions.  Not to mention that kicking Russia from the UN would seemingly escalate the issue even more.  I know it sounds crazy, but maybe peace is the answer?  Maybe government should come clean about their intentions and let people vote the warmongers out of government.  If Russia seems like it's the only problem here, I would offer the idea that maybe we don't have the entire story.
5051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. life expectancy drops sharply, the second consecutive decline on: September 12, 2022, 09:05:25 PM
I think we've reached the point in society where the oversight of companies is so compromised that they're literally being allowed to sell us toxic poison under the guise of food.  The problem with microplastics in our processed food has gotten so out of control that cancer is a common thing for us all.  I think if people knew what was in their food, or what was being fed to their food, it would not only cause outrage, but maybe would lead to actual change.  The problem is that schools will never teach this and people who learn disturbing facts on their own are considered conspiracy theorists as a result.
5052  Other / Meta / Re: Trade Feedback vs Non Trade Feedback on: September 12, 2022, 08:58:03 PM
There are a lot of feedbacks which are oriented from non-trade but because people trust him due to their forum activities etc. Would it bring any benefit if theymos allow us to choose whether it's a feedback oriented from trade or not.

We have option to select neutral, positive, negative. There will be two more options on another section which will be something like-
°Trade Feedback
°Non Trade Feedback

And the output will be visible by score with a different color.
Do you think it will be a good idea to force this when user will leave a feedback?

If you counted actual feedback that had real money behind it, you might find that some of the folks with the largest trust networks around here are just people who throw opinions around and have no actual real world physical interactions with other users whatsoever.  Weighting real feedback from actual interactions over arm chair opinions would cause quite a stir for some folks at the top of the trust network around here.  Suddenly people would realize there are 2 very different types of users here.
5053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 12, 2022, 08:54:52 PM
Much better to get into Lakers than to stay in Blazers without having that much impact from the teammates. That matters, the chemistry.

And I think that wherever Westbrook lands, that team has been longing to have been. Blazers might not want to release their star player but if they've been offered with a good deal, they might take it and won't decline it.

Maybe if Westbrook goes into that team, we may see him back play at what he used to be.

Maybe he will get the normal stats pre Lakers, but he will not be able to carry that team. He will be dominating the ball again because there are no other stars, and he will be the first choice. So, his stats will go up like before, but he will not be able to carry that team to any significant finish because he will have no help. If dame cannot carry the Blazers to the finals, I do not think Westbrook will. His carrying days are over. Most likely, he will just be padding his stats to fish the next contract. That is, if Blazers will take WB, that I doubt will happen. They will stick to Dame most probably.
That's what he need, a team that can help him also to win the game and not only him to carry the whole team.

We can say that there are players that can bring up a team but that's not going to be enough these days when you're against the whole team with bunch of good players and really can contribute a lot per game.

We may see WB go back onto his shape but you're right, that he might have hard time carrying it.

I think there's a good chance he ends up in Utah.  They have a pretty weak team now and are in full rebuild mode.  The Lakers will package 1st round picks with Russell Westbrook to get rid of his contract.  The Jazz could use a ball hog scorer like Russ who can carry a team to a few wins by himself while they rebuilt.  I feel like this is going to happen because it's the only trade that makes sense for both sides.  With training camp starting soon, I suspect we'll have some movement on this front.
5054  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bear market over? on: September 12, 2022, 08:48:58 PM
I would have to say that I don't believe the bear market is over.  However, the institutional buying has started.  Likely we'll see sideways trading for a while then a spike downward with a ton of volume.  I think that will be the time when I'll get excited about buying again.  I still feel like we're going to see a new bottom on this cycle before it's all over, but I do feel like that time is approaching rapidly.  Regardless of what happens, I'm fairly certain those who dollar cost average in here and stick with it for the next 2-3 years are going to be rewarded.
5055  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 5oz .999 Silver NastyFans Minted Seats on: September 12, 2022, 08:45:59 PM
Og, I see the silver binary rounds are no longer on the site. Did these sell out? Also, how many 1 oz seat coins are left?

I still have some silver binary rounds left but I did remove them from the NastyShop due to stock getting low and the length of time it takes to have items removed from the shop.  I learned my lesson after the gold binary incident where too many people ordered and I didn't have enough stock to fill them all.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you are interested in buying any.

You can see the binary threads here and the stock is up to date:
Bitcoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1637562.0
Litecoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4425160.0

There are around 85 1oz minted seat rounds left I believe (quick check).
5056  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake.com got recked by me on: September 11, 2022, 08:10:00 AM
Congrats I guess.  It was a great fight and I was glad to see Nate Diaz win.  He deserved it after all the drama with his contract and a new last minute opponent.  I'm not sure you should be advertising your ban evasion from the site and I'm pretty sure you were banned for not placing bets in the first place so it's nice to see you're actually using the site for something other than a proxy to move crypto from one wallet to another.
5057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 11, 2022, 08:04:04 AM
Nate Diaz VS Tony Ferguson

What a great fight between a couple of UFC veterans.  I was really happy for Nate Diaz and seeing him end his career in a flexing pose while his opponent submitted is about as good of a way to end it as I've seen in professional fighting.  I look forward to seeing him get his payday by being the next Jake Paul opponent and was glad to see the kid from Stockton go out on top.  I had to put my money on the Chimaev fight, but for those who went with Nate... Congrats!
5058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 11, 2022, 04:11:20 AM
Chimaev seems set for an easy victory.

That took all of 2 minutes.  An easy win for some easy winnings...  Lame that Chimaev had such an easy fight.  I think things would have been different with Nate.  I usually don't bet fight events, but that Chimaev opponent even came out and said he had no wrestling skills whatsoever and was just there for a paycheck.  I think that's probably the easiest gambling win I've ever had.  Those two should have never been in the ring together and it's a shame that Chimaev was rewarded with an easier opponent for missing weight.
5059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for the best cooling deal on: September 10, 2022, 07:27:07 PM
I think it's also a bit of a right of passage to mine with the minimal equipment possible.  Before you even go open frame vs enclosed case, try this...  Buy the parts to make a PC without a case or frame...  Build the PC and hang the GPUs from something (I used to use a dish drying rack).  Then you can see that a case isn't even necessary to mine with.  I used to even run a massive liquid cooled setup with several GPUs tied together in a loop from different PCs back in the day.  My office looked like a science experiment.  It was pretty awesome.

If you've never slapped together a PC without a frame and used twisty ties to hang GPUs from dish drying racks, are you even a crypto miner?
5060  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Silver Casascius - Singles or Bulk on: September 10, 2022, 07:20:02 PM
Thank you, mostly looking for silvers at the moment.

I've got the complete set of silvers...  I had hoped to sell my brass coins before breaking the set up though.  However, money is a loud talker and I'm always looking to score more BTC.  If you want to make me an offer I can't refuse via PM, I'd be open to hearing it.  I'd consider me a last resort though.  There are no doubt people who are less attached to their collection and willing to accept lower offers.
