5062  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin popped $10 000 on: May 08, 2020, 02:17:48 AM
I'm not surprised by the sudden pump to $10,000. I mean this is to be expected because of the 'news' about the block halving. And I'm sure this is the mental goal of others here, to see Bitcoin getting into that 5 digits again before the halving. But what more interesting is how it is going to hold after the halving. Can it sustained it run a few days after or will there be a massive dump because everyone wanted to take profit at a side? The price increase doesn't seems to be organic, yes there is FOMO and sell the block halving news. So the anticipated part is how it will do post-halving.
5063  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10k$ Bitcoin is Very much possible for now! on: May 08, 2020, 12:31:10 AM
$10k is MOMUMENTAL right now in this covid 19 enviorment! awesome!

Exactly, we may have hit $10k on some exchanges, for all we know. It's monumental because just two months ago, there are a lot of people calling bitcoin's doom and it is not a good investment, hedge in this pandemic, blah blah argument. But look at how it bounce back from that crash as we may be hitting 5 digits prior to the halving even. Of course the price will not go on parabola, but it is a good indication that Bitcoin will still be bullish and it is a good investment even if we have this Covid-19 pandemic. So we will see where will it take us from here.
5064  Economy / Gambling / Re: My urge to go to land base casino in this lock down and how I fight it. on: May 08, 2020, 12:06:34 AM
Thank you to those who have replied, at least I know that I'm not the only one who have this gambling problem. My urge has died down a bit, but I still have this sort of anxiety induced gambling emotions and I'm still fighting it back. I recently found out that I still have some extra paint in my garage so probably I will take that as I challenge and do some paintings for the meantime. Again, thanks to those who gave advise, I think I can overcome this feeling in the next 48 hours.
5065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 07, 2020, 01:36:33 AM
Thanks @ Juggy777 for the update. I guess this kind of tournaments are geared towards those low rank players so that at least they have something to put in their pocket while we are still in the lock down. I'm just hoping that this will go full blown tournament so that we can continue tennis as we all know that this is a contact less sports, so the risk is minimal as compare to other sports. Just maybe there is a small chance that high rank players will 'insist' the tournament organizers to let them play.  Smiley

Yes, it's a gesture to help low rank players get over with this corona virus situation we are in right now. The price money is too small for top rank players to enter this tournament and its good that they are allowing low rank to earn. It is not enough money, but the people behind are looking for their fellow tennis players here and I think this is a good start and I'm sure that those players appreciate what the organisers are doing. High rank players should help though and not compete. Maybe there could be some exhibitions match to raise money.

Its good to see that they want to help the lower ranked players however I'm not sure if many people will be interested to watch their games as most like to see the top ranked players playing. Will the matches be broadcast on T.V? Even though it doesn't really interest me all that much, I may still watch some matches as I do miss watching tennis. They must try and raise the money from some where and by having it on T.V at least they can earn some revenue apart from the sponsors of the tournament.

You can see the Tennis point Exhibition here.

https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2020/05/watch-demand-tennis-point-exhibition-seriesgermany-day-4-may-4/88648/

But I don't know if this has a live telecast on TV though. It will be good if there is one, maybe for the meantime mate you can just watch it online, to get the boredom out of ourselves. This pandemic really affect us all including the urge to gambling.

Quote
The Tennis Point Exhibition Series is a 12-day event divided into three sessions, the first running May 1-4. (The second runs May 7-10; the third runs May 14-17.) Is it the first time professional tennis players are competing in an organized event since COVID-19 decimated the tennis calendar beginning with the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

So we might catch the second and third run of this exhibition series so be ready.

Thank you for posting but you have to read the rules here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0.

All I can see is a link to telegram, ANN thread, you should provide us with more proof to say that this project is a scam. How do you say that they are scam projects? Not giving bounty rewards? running with investors money? Give us some details.
5067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wonder how much is the $1200 stimulus package worth now if invested on BTC? on: May 07, 2020, 12:26:04 AM
Probably the author just wanted to self promote BTC as the savior in this pandemic. LOL.

But yes, this is a somewhat useless data to begin with. Bitcoin is very volatile, and I do hope that those who put their $1200 in the market really knows what they are doing. Maybe after the halving we may see the being split as well, from $1200 to $600.  Smiley
5068  Economy / Gambling / My urge to go to land base casino in this lock down and how I fight it. on: May 06, 2020, 11:51:24 PM
Yesterday, for unknown reason, suddenly I feel the urge to gamble again. When the lock down was implemented here, land based casinos are close. I'm more of a physical casino player, however, I was not affected by the closure because I thought that this will just last for a week or two.

But yesterday was a different feeling though, their was like a feeling that I need to go to casino and play. Maybe it was just the effect of the boredom during this lock down. There are some mental stimulus, like my sister-in-law inadvertently says that he doesn't have any identification with her but his casino ids. LOL. Anyways, here is what I did to fight this inner demon within me.

1. Do some exercise, good thing about this lock down is that me and my kid age, 14 are doing some calisthenics and body weight exercises. So we did some reps and sets to keep my mind busy.

2. Netflix is your friend during this lock down.  Smiley. Watch movies that interest me.

3. I visualize myself totally stopping my gambling even after the lockdown. Yes, this is very tough on me, but I spend hours in my room doing some sort of mental visualization.

4. Talk to families, anything under the sun, bond with them, it is very relaxing.

5. Youtube. Search for inspirational video on how to quit gambling.

I don't know if you felt this feeling in this lock down. But for me it is real and I have to fight it back.

Do you guys have the same experience? How did you overcome it? Share your experience so that other gamblers will know how to respond.

Of course there are a lot of crypto based online game, yes I play online as well, but the land base casino is very different at least in my case.
5069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Max Keiser takedown of Buffett on his bitcoin stand is epic. on: May 06, 2020, 06:23:36 AM
Let's look at how he invested and make lots of money.

1. His investment approach - he looks for stocks that are undervalued and then investment on them and wait for it to grow overtime. Bitcoin isn't like stocks, it is very volatile and unpredictable

2. Bitcoin is not back up by anything - So he don't want to invest on something that he can't recover. Stocks on the other hand have this kind of safety net, it is folds then you can still recover some of your investment.

He might get it wrong but I don't think it will f**k up his reputation. He already build it and not just because he misunderstood bitcoin doesn't mean you will lose your respect on him.
5070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee says he received call from Satoshi Nakamoto asking not to be reveal on: May 06, 2020, 05:17:32 AM
Nah, don't believed anything that John McAfee is saying, specially that he has a questionable history.

And I guarantee that he blurted it out so that he will became relevant in the crypto discussion again. Because once he 'disowns' his so called $1 million prediction, and calling bitcoin an ancient past, this clown was totally forgotten. Anyway, we should taken any statement from John with a bag of salt.
5071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: May 06, 2020, 12:42:24 AM
I certainly agree with you on that, Wilder is challenged here, he still believe he can beat Fury so that's interesting if we can see him knock down the guy who beat him twice, lol... I am sure this is a hell of a fight, just like the last 2 fights although it was never favored Wilder but a desperate man will show everything he got in this last fight.
I have a different opinion here, Wilder is not challenged but he is not yet ready to accept the defeat, there is a big difference Wink. Every fighter will have the confidence to beat anyone, but need to have the technical skills and a fight IQ when you are facing top competition and everyone know how to box but how you handle the situation during a fight determines the winner.
If Wilder can show a dimension he never showed that would be interesting.

True, but as the saying goes, "you can't teach old dogs new tricks". Deontay Wilder has been throughout in his career banking on his powerful right hand. They even hype it as weapon of mass destruction when he had a run and just knocking people out. But it was a different scenario when you fight a technical and savvy skill boxer like Tyson Fury. He didn't adjust even in the second fight. He thinks that he will just walk out out there again and knock Fury out. But it was not the case as Fury uses his boxing skill and Wilder didn't adjust and I don't think he can in the trilogy.
5072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Michael Jordan’s gambling history revisited. on: May 06, 2020, 12:02:14 AM
i didnt knew that golf was a kind of gambling too  . thought it was only a kind of sport that rich people do for fun  but then i remember that there are now many sports that involved on sports betting so its still not possible

It became gambling when Jordan was betting against his golfer buddies. Yes, it was a sport for rich people, and that is why Jordan played with other players or personalities that has money and try to win against them.

. there is also no need for him to hide himself if ever he play online gambling ( blackjack ) because no one will believe on him that he is michael jordan even if he didnt change his username or he can use different names too  .

I doubt that he play online black jack during his prime, he will be bored as hell. Of course he has every right to gamble at casinos because he has the money and probably playing with his friends too in private with huge wager.
5073  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 7 Things have to do to become a Good Crypto Trader on: May 05, 2020, 06:20:10 AM
Probably the OP can add having a entry and exit plan, some sort of plan of action. So if you are like going to go war, you need to understand when you are going to enter and when to exit, timing is everything here in crypto. You might see some dips and observed it and if you see that there is a lot of pressure already and the next break out run will be an uptrend they go enter. And then after sometime, when it is on top, then better exit and then some profits, rinse and repeat. So you need to understand where is potential retracement and upside levels.

Good news?

Tennis returns: No fans, line judges, ball kids or handshakes

Quote
It is a far cry from Roland Garros or Wimbledon, but professional tennis will return in Germany on Friday.

The first in a series of planned exhibition events will take place without spectators, line judges, ball kids or handshakes.

It is one of the first competitions between ATP players since professional tennis was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic on 12 March.

The Tennis-Point exhibition features eight players outside the world's top 100.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/52496009

Maybe this is just a test run I believed so obviously, those that are participating are outside of the top 100. But if this become successful, we might, just see another regular masters event at least in the next coming months. Every precautionary measures have been put into place. So let's see how this 'exhibition' match will turn out.

This will be interesting to see how it goes as if its all good then we could see tennis return sooner then later even though things don't really seem to be changing when it comes to world wide cases slowing down. It doesn't look like it will end anytime soon but hopefully this works for us tennis fans and we get to see some tennis very soon.

Yeah, as other posters have said, this is going to be very interesting because this is the first tournament that we are going to see or read in the news (pun intended!).  I guess the Tennis organizers realized that the pandemic will continue as cases are growing everyday. But they can't just sit this out, they have to do something and this is their best effort to learn the sport continue for the meantime. And despite of the looming threat, it's all good as measures have been implemented. Hopefully, this will eventually work so we might see games around slowly.
5077  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC breaks 9k, are we on bull run? on: May 03, 2020, 01:52:36 AM
How fast people forget about the past!  Smiley
Bitcoin was already 9k (before the march fall), what is happening now is just a return to the previous levels/recovery, but not a bull run. Plus, I think a real bull market should last several months, and not be a cutting movement for a couple of weeks.

Technically you're right, bull run could be defined as sustain rise in price in an extended period. Currently we are just seeing a minor run, but the thing is that the market is well alive after the corona virus scare and that is a good sign for us. Again, in the last 24 hours, the price seems to gather another momentum and pushing the price above $9000 again. And this gets more exciting as we approaches halving in less than 10 days. I guess in the next coming days, we will see threads about the price breaking five digits, LOL.

5079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you could, would you delete every altcoin? on: May 02, 2020, 12:46:20 AM
I would. Why so many cryptocurrencies should exist? Only one, and all of us would want the same coin.

Cryptocurrencies also evolved, maybe majority are into Bitcoin, but cryptocurrency has some many facets, so altcoin was born. Like Ethereum or XRP, which become popular as well for enterprise solutions.

Like in the real world, we have yens, euros, dollars. Imagine having only 1 currency  Shocked

Wouldn't it be great?

Those currencies you mentioned is controlled, cryptocurrency or at least Bitcoin is decentralised.
5080  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think the price of Bitcoin can exceed 10 thousand dollars at the present on: May 02, 2020, 12:12:27 AM
At a time when the world is in the throes of an epidemic and everyone's economy is in dire straits, I can't see any reason for the sudden rise in the price of Bitcoin. Do you think there is any reason for Bitcoin to go up so much?

Because it has become a speculative asset, obviously FOMO prior the the halving. I think that's the reason why the price suddenly goes up in the last 2-3 days, unfortunately, it went on a 'healthy and minor' correction, so the rise has been broken already. So it's about 10 days before the halving, so chances are, bulls are going to push for that 5 digits again. So let's see how it goes, maybe some of the traders long position has been liquidated along the $9400 price, but we really can't tell as everyone is really trying to get inside before the halving.
