Speaking of altmetals (shitmetals?) - rhodium: Yes, 10k per ounce back in 2008. Used in cars, catalytic converters IIRC. Oh... yeah, that sound familiar... wasn't this one of McAfee's signals?

I've just been watching the video linked below, and it is another example of the fundametal mistake that everybody seems to make about Bitcoin mining. All of the Bitcoins that will ever exist were created when the genesis block was laid down. Miners don't mine Bitcoin, they mine blocks for the Bitcoin blockchain. In return for releasing a valid block, they are rewarded with an allocation from the initial pool, and they also receive the fees from the transactions they have included in the created block. Is this distinction significant? Well probably not for most users of Bitcoin, but if you are an investor, then I think it is. Comparison with gold, and calculations based on the scarcity of Bitcoin don't take this difference into account. Bitcoin miners create the bags to contain the 'gold' and not the 'gold' itself. A bag that used to be full, but all of the contents has been spent, is still important on the chain, and the spent contents will be included in future bags that have been mined. Bitcoin price forecasts seem to focus on the cost of mining single Bitcoins, and I believe that this means the whole prediction is flawed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvqqChy0IYYWould it not be sufficient to say that Bitcoin is limited and gold is no?

Gwei is a sub unit of ethereum, equivalent to ... not much 1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH. Gas is a very different thing. Firstly know that sometimes GAS is the currency associated with NEO. But in the context of ethereum it is the unit of computational cost. Example: To make a simple transfer it will cost you 25k Gas. To execute certain smart contract can cost you 1 Million gas, etc... In fact, a poorly written contract and gas set to "no limit" would cost you ALL THE ETHER in your account. You can potentially loose all. But no panic, just always set gas limit to some value. An now the most important thing: the price of gas is paid in ether. Is just like if you were paying in dollars for the fuel of your car. The tricky thing is that you decide the cost. Now, in the gas station queue you have 10 people. One offers 1 dollar per litre and another offers 2 dollars per litre. Who gets served first? The highest bidder. With the price of gas is the same, if you offer too little your transaction will take a long time, it may even never be processed. To choose the right price just check "how long is the queue" here https://ethgasstation.info/ See those numbers? Safe Low, Standard, Fast.... that is the price that is reasonable to have your transaction or smart contract call within the periods of time mentioned. If you go under Safe Low your transaction will take a looooong time. How do you apply this? 1- You need to know how much gas is your smart contract or transfer expected to consume. Transactions normally are set at GAS LIMIT 25.0000 And the owner of a smart contract should inform you of the expected execution cost. Never set LIMIT to "no limit", you may loose all your ETH. 2- Go to Myetherwallet or any other that let´s you set price of gas and put any of the values that you found in gas station depending on how fast you need the task done. 3 - Fill in the rest of the information and Launch!

I am the CTO of a new DPOS project called SWAPBlocks. We have recently shifted our DPOS blockchain from Lisk source code to Ark. We had planned to have an initial 101 delegates, but some of the members of the discord channel have said they prefer 51 due to the quicker block times.
When systems are "semi-decentralized" the risk is very clear. Regarding that with 101 more people have a chance to forge, with 51 you need 26 of 51 to make a successful attack, but you will need 51 malevolent delegates to fully confirm with 101. It is the case that more people would need to agree to succeed on an attack. Considerations: 1. You have to evaluate the real risk of your delegates agreeing on a 51% attack. Are they institutional delegates with clear ownership that are less likely to get themselves into trouble or does the system really need to be completely trustless with a huge degree of "distrust". If you delegates are not really likely to agree on an attack and are identifiable, you can probably do with less. 2. When planning a 51% attack each of the 26 delegates would need to trust the other 25 because if they fail on their attack they will loose their stakes, thus...How high are the stakes? How much risk will those malevolent nodes have for themselves if they try an attack? 3. On a the practical side: If you are going to make it from 3 days or 6 months to 1 minute, does it matter if it takes 2 minutes (or 4 or 5) for your particular case? Normally I would say no unless you are planning an exchange, and in that case you most likely need a centralized component on the system. 4. What time confirmation differences you have with 50, 100 and 200 delegates? Have you made accurate numbers? Be cautious when putting links to your project on this section, you may anger some members.

The idea is to snatch as many Bitcoin as possible while fuding & keeping the price stable.
They Fud/partial dump Bitcoin today, you rush and sell. Selling = handing them your Bitcoin or better still, you sell - they buy (it's like disarming you). Note that they may be buying back the Bitcoin with money not accounted for (unlimited printing of money).
So they continue with the fuding/dumping and we continue selling until all our Bitcoins are sold off except Satoshis and few others. Their biggest fud might get most people selling, thereby SERIOUSLY crashing the price.
The traumatized sellers become extremely cautious while the fudsters continue scooping up everything.
I expect to be indirectly attacked soon. They may be watching me all the time. I imagine angry evil faces all watching?.
You could just say Hodl.

Many of the ICOs have been selling their ethereum heavily in the past months, so people have the feeling that market is bad, but it is more the opposite, everyone is deploying the projects.

It may be a bit red, but is not awfully red, there is some money behind it but there are enough bulls at least for ethereum at current prices. If it goes much lower I will buy rather than sell.

Some people just participate in the bounties and wait for few years. they don't sell their bounty rewards for low fiat reward. Ironically those people become FIAT millionaires. Thx for bounties! Good jewelry. You won´t become a millonaire doing bounty at all, even if you have been in for a few years. You need to hodl at least part of your gains or you´d have made nothing of it.

Of course, NEO has just begun even if it has been around for a few years many of the new projects are going to drive this coin into a new height no doubt.

You want to take a look at Qurrex, it is a great project. I think that the best about it is the new architecture that they are proposing that mixes centralised and decentralised functions. Really cool.

Buenas.

There are a few open topics in the forum about this. y recommendation is that all the information is stored in a file and then password protected. Then you create 3 copies of the file and give them to three people you trust. Lastly divide the password in two and put these two pieces in two different bank safes. You may want to use 4 safes to have two copies.
If the amount you have does not justify these expenses, you can just give parts of the key to trusted people or to 2 lawyers, notary public or similar.

I read this one a while ago. I am sorry but this does not deserve merit in my view. Maybe some other member will consider it.
Yep is far from perfect, but this is from a newbie. Maybe I'm so used to read the newbies in the English section just typing non-senses lines that I feel it be constructive, intelligent and with a point, something more and more strange each day. The other one, yep, has a merit, very deserving, but if you feel the best way to be on topic (I mean, crypto only), this is a nice suggestion to me. We are just trying to figure out how to make it: give some vision to good posters, no matter the language, and also merit some good young members and encourage them to keep going on. The reality is we still cannot develop a whole system of how are we doing to do that. Besides, JC is really interested in the political situation in Venezuela, for instance, so good topics with that topic will be probably merited as well. I think the crypto world is not only about how it works, what software to use, which coin to choose, but about society and how the mere existence of this emerging new economic system is affecting people thoughts and behave. Each technological change implies a social one. And this part is really interesting, as well, and needs to be analyzed in a Bitcoin discussion forum like this one, for the social behaviors and changes are directly related to new technology. But that's my point of view. And we don't have to agree, the more different points of view we have, the more different approaches the new tech receives, and, also, the more different kind of members will be here in the forum, so, the more interesting it gets Note taken, this user can apply for a "story review". I am not 100% familiar with the situation in Venezuela...fortunately perhaps.

Hola.
