5121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gambling Companies: First Massive Bitcoin Adopters on: September 02, 2022, 05:09:54 AM
Gambling companies are definitely going to be extremely wealthy in the future if Bitcoin is successful.  They've got a ton of crypto income coming in via many different types of cryptocurrency and have very little overhead all things considered.  Establishing an income stream denominated in crypto instead of dollars is extremely difficult for any industry, but at the moment gambling and exchanges seem to be king.
5122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB to $1k? on: September 02, 2022, 04:35:06 AM
Maybe I’m misunderstanding something, but didn’t Binance just start offering 0% trades? I would assume this massively reduces usage of BNB as it’s main use case was paying fees at a discounted rate on Binance. I fear this will have a negative effect on BNB’s price going forward, as that was a great use case.
5123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is Saylor sued by Washington (DC) an attack to BTC? on: September 02, 2022, 04:29:49 AM
I’d say it’s a warning shot. There are reports they also have been investigating CZ from Binance. They’re giving us a little sneak peak of what Joe Biden hired the 87,000 IRS agents to do. They’re training the stormtroopers as we speak.
5124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 02, 2022, 02:09:24 AM
Mitchell is nice but he isn't an all pro.  Dude barely plays d.  Ainge got 3 picks, 2 swaps and a couple nice young players.  Trust me everyone of these teams wants to draft Victor W.  At 18 years old they do t make many players like him.

Mitchell has been a beast in the playoffs every chance he's had.  He's one of the better playoff scorers in NBA history (avg) if I recall correctly.  The only real knock against him is that he's short for his position which can lead to him being taken advantage on the defensive end like you noted.  I guess we'll see what those picks end up turning into.
5125  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical Crypto Pic! NFS on: September 02, 2022, 02:03:38 AM
I seen a nasty coin its kinda of underneath another coin on the left side of the photo

Good eye!  I had missed that.  It looks like a silver nastymining wallet with gold highlighting. Smiley  An honor to have one of my creations be included in the picture.  It really does look like a pile of pirate loot or you might even say booty (pirate joke).
5126  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin, Not for everyone. on: September 01, 2022, 10:02:18 PM
People get way too obsessed with owning whole amounts. I'd just say if you truly believe in Bitcoin, and you think it might be a good investment regardless of whether you'll use it to just take money out later, invest whatever you can afford, without putting yourself in a position where if it fails, you'll be stuck.

Far too many people are going either all out, and investing every little bit they have or the opposite collecting dust for years, and hoping they'll somehow become a millionaire. Hey, maybe in another ten years I'll be eating my words for that last sentence, but I'd say you should be investing at least enough that the medium term would benefit you.

I would agree with you, but still think people should own 1 Bitcoin if they're able.  Smiley

I don't think people should be focused on just Bitcoin though.  It's a great addition to a portfolio, but you don't want to own all Bitcoin and no stocks for example.  I know with younger folks it is sometimes easier to get into crypto than stocks, but the earlier you build a diversified portfolio, the more you will learn, and the better off you will be.
5127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will BTC ever become truly scalable, decentralized and secure? Trifecta problem. on: September 01, 2022, 09:58:43 PM
Ironically, I think as Bitcoin services become more centralized (think using your coinbase or binance account to make payments to vendors without a fee) it will become an easier task to achieve true decentralization.  I think this is where we're headed and I don't think it's a bad thing.  People will be able to make their own choices about how to store their funds with regards to their skill level and risk tolerance and regardless of their choice will be able to interact seamlessly with each other.
5128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I successfully build my first rig on: September 01, 2022, 09:56:26 PM
I bought some rx580 graphic cards from China for 120$ each and I successfully build my first rig, thanks to YouTube video it's not that hard like I've imagined, after placing the order my mind is plagued with thoughts of messing things up

...

The only issue I am having now is the hashrate number, I am getting 27MH from the graphic cards each and a friend rx580 rig is getting 31MH, any ideas of what I can do next? I am running HiveOS.

Congratulations on your first rig build as it looks like a great one!  You seem to have gotten a good deal on the hardware and got it running, so you're off to a great start.  I hope this sparks something in you to keep going.  If you can make it through the downturn as a miner, you will certainly emerge stronger on the other side.  Good luck with maintaining the heat!
5129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 01, 2022, 09:52:44 PM
Just in,

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1565424787446439941

So it seems that the Cavs have acquired Mitchell now, as they trade Lauri Markkanen, Ochair Agbaji, Collin Sexton. So the drama has ended for Mitchell. Now the Jazz has a lot of future draft picks from the Rudy Gobert trade to T'Wolves and now from the Cavaliers, Utah are rebuilding. They still have Clarkson and Conley in the lineup. Maybe the two will remain as Jazz for whoever knows up to when.

The AP is also reporting that: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/ap-source-cavaliers-acquiring-all-star-g-mitchell-from-jazz/ar-AA11n19T

I am shocked by this.  Sending Mitchell to Cleveland is almost a punishment.  He'll be able to thrive individually I guess, but I don't see him ever having a chance to play for a championship there.  It looks like they got back young players and picks to rebuild with, but nothing I'd be excited about as a Jazz fan.  This seems like a lose-lose for everyone involved.  I really don't understand why Utah didn't make a deal with the Knicks instead.
5130  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Mt. Gox coins affect Bitcoin’s price in August? on: September 01, 2022, 08:39:57 PM
So its pretty much end of August and so far nothing I heard about the distribution of the coins. Anyone a creditor who has some insider information on exactly when this distribution should start?

A new email just went out a few minutes ago to creditors.  It says that there is a start date for assignment of 9/15 so your guess is as good as mine if that's when they'll start making payments or if that's when they'll finalize claims.  I still haven't been asked if I wanted early payout or to wait for the maximum amount, so I wouldn't expect payouts to begin yet.  There is movement though so it is looking like there will be a distribution of some sorts in the coming months.
Today is the first day of September, which means that this topic is no longer relevant. At least the title. Unless, of course, rename August in the title topic to September. As we can see, "Mt. Gox coins had no effect on Bitcoin’s price in August".

Are you sure that you will be asked whether you want an early payout or wait for the maximum amount? What if they decide it for you? From the outside it seems to me that they are deliberately playing for time and, as you said, it is also not worth expecting payments in September. This means that it will not affect Bitcoin’s price so soon.

The early payout vs final payout is mentioned several times in the new documents as well as having always been mentioned.  I'm as certain as one can be when dealing with gox that I'll be asked what I want.  Now that the final date to transfer claims has been set as the 15th, I imagine the next step will be selecting how you want your payout and which payout you want.  I would guess (just a guess) that this process takes between 3-6 months, at which point probably another 3 months for the payouts to happen and then a final payout probably 3 months after that.

So will the gox coins effect the price in August?  I think the rumors did, but that's it.

After reading and digesting the information do I think the payouts will happen soon?  Probably not, but there's a tiny chance they could happen this year.  More likely next spring.
5131  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A Trump audit should prohibit him from running in 2024. on: September 01, 2022, 06:46:54 PM
It appears signature spammers are defaulting to team Trumptard.  Interesting....

While those who defend pedophiles, sympathize with wannabe extortionists, and can't even make long enough posts to get paid for their time default to team sleepy Joe.  You'd have to be a completely brainwashed liberal suffering from Trump derangement syndrome to not see how terrible Biden is doing...  Food shortages in America?  C'mon...  If the democratic party isn't intentionally trying to run this country off a cliff, then their incompetence is shocking to me.

Imagine being so corrupt you want to just not let candidates run by starting bullshit audits...  These people are so crooked...
5132  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Millennials and Gen Z are now more to embrace luxury products on: September 01, 2022, 06:41:32 PM
They're playing into the commercialization perfectly.  Once Gen Z are done spending all mommy and daddy's money, they'll find themselves enslaved with debt and unable to own anything, but I'm told they'll be happy about it.

Resist the need to blow money on stupid overpriced things you don't need.  $200 shoes, $500 purses, etc...  If you care about your future, your biggest expense should be investments.  If you spend more money on clothes than you do saving for retirement, you will be eating crickets at 65 years old.
5133  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Our children should be our first priority on: September 01, 2022, 06:38:52 PM
There is definitely an attack against our youth happening and if you can't see it you're blind.  The drag shows, renaming pedophiles to 'minor attracted persons', having a president who's own children have accused him of sexual assault...  The children are most definitely the first priority of the democratic party, who seems hell bent on removing their morals and making them comfortable with hyper-sexualization.  Protect your kids.  The government won't.
5134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I in rush for nothing on: September 01, 2022, 06:36:48 PM
I have a mining rig with 8 graphic cards that I build in December of 2021 and I have made most money back but now that almost all the good altcoins have lost high amount of value I feel like selling my rig and buy coins but.....

I look at the long term, if I use the money and buy coins, let say I have 5 different coins in a wallet, that's going to be it, but if I keep my rig I can keep accumulating coins that I want for like forever, till mining is dead.

One thing strikes my mind again, bear market don't stay for long, highest is 2 years, so what is the right state of mind for you.

We are in the accumulation phase so you should be accumulating Bitcoin.  It's likely that prices will trend down for another few months, so don't go betting with leverage or selling your personal items just yet...  We're closer to the bottom than the top though.  Mining is a great way to dollar cost average so just stick with it and when we hit new highs you'll be glad that you did.
5135  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Sculpture "Bitcoin Crown" on: September 01, 2022, 06:34:27 PM
Interesting piece.  I like seeing what artists turn other artists' work into.  I like that it stands up on it's own too.  I could see this being a good conversation piece for someone's desk or a mantle display piece.  Could you imagine if someone did this with Casascius coins?  Might be an expensive but pretty awesome piece (using the blanks of course).  Good luck with your auction and future endeavors.

I'm glad to see you gave Stake a good review and recognize them as a leader in the space.  It's great being partnered with an operation that is well respected and acknowledged as doing a great job in the space.  It makes advertising for them easy and care free.  Smiley

There were a few others I hadn't heard of and will familiarize myself a little with them by reading your reviews.  Nice job!
5137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - days since last all time high on: September 01, 2022, 05:01:40 PM
This chart more-less shows what I’ve been thinking lately. It feels exactly like the last time we were in this situation. If history repeats again for the 4th time then we’ve got one more big drop in store for us, which will be the dip to buy if you’re looking to time markets and maximize returns for yourself (dangerous game).
5138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 01, 2022, 04:59:44 PM
Russell Wilson just signed an extension for a quarter of a billion dollars. Totally insane. Sometimes it feels like dollars are play money for rich people. Imagine signing a quarter billion dollar contract. What value would money have after that? How many mansions and luxury cars can you own? The devaluing of dollars is amazing to watch.
5139  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical Crypto Pic! NFS on: September 01, 2022, 06:43:36 AM
A cool picture indeed. I think that’s the most different collectibles from this community I’ve seen together in a single picture. Thank you for sharing with us. I don’t see any of my coins in there anywhere though. What a catastrophe.  Shocked
5140  Economy / Speculation / Re: why does BTC price appear to follow the performance of US equities markets? on: September 01, 2022, 05:35:34 AM
Bitcoin is a speculative asset and in times of risk adverse investing it will suffer as a result. It will decouple when the dust settles, but in the short term you can usually expect it to mirror risky securities. Especially during periods of flight to safety among investors in global markets.
