5121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the anonymous cryptocurrency on: April 03, 2020, 03:40:48 PM
It looks like this turn out to be a debate between anonymous and psuedo anonymity of bitcoin. Lol.

Bitcoin is psuedo anonymous everyone can still be tracked specially if you used centralised exchange that requires or enforces KYC. There are mixers or tumblers to keep you away from the prying eyes of the public, or even conjoins + TOR.
5122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Corona Virus Scams on: April 03, 2020, 12:23:10 PM
Thanks for the fair warning, specially that we are under a crisis, even those scammers will not rest and have taken advantage of the covid-19 and created a lot of fake websites trying to lure a lot of people. So all of us need to be very vigilant as there are reports of people losing their money on such scam like this one.

PLEASE BEWARE - 14,000 XRP stolen from Ledger. So we really need to educate ourselves and people around us that they need to be very careful and cautious.
5123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: It doesn't look like binance taking over coinmarketcap on: April 03, 2020, 09:58:29 AM
Right, Binance will take over, and probably one process of transition is that the former owner of CMC wil be involved, until Binance is confident that they can handle it. The deal is close to half a billion, one of the biggest if not the biggest take over in crypto sphere.

Binance has a lot of capital they are growing and expanding. I don't know though why they targeted coinmarketcap, maybe they have a big plan after all.

So everything is clear, so we might see a lot of chances in CMC in the next coming months. I know that majority didn't like what Binance did and probably looking for other options to use, but let's see how it goes.

And then we have to wait and see what will be this big chances. Are they going to not accept scam advertisements now? This is what majority complains when visiting coinmarketcap, a lot of banners and the old management doesn't give a damn if they advertisement a scam projects on their site. I do hope that with Binance, it will chance.
5124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Learn and learn and keep learning will safe you from lots of foul play on: April 02, 2020, 10:52:12 PM
Honestly If anyone just come into crypto space through a link or online ads it's easier to get lost and fall victim to scams, i never get hacked for once or lost money to scam projects simply because I favoured learning things I don't know anything about, why can't people be like this either? This will easily safe you from money doubling schemes and Ponzi schemes, please newcomers and members, be more willing to learn.

I agree, but you can't really blame people for being gullible enough to invest on crypto and lost money, specially if you're a beginner. I personally lost some, not in ICO, but on a bitcoin double years ago. I was just a newbie then, and I thought why not? so I invest and it's good because I was able to get a pay. But then I re-invested it again. And sadly, the scammers pull an exit scam.

It was really an eye opener for me and I have learn my lessons very expensive one. Anyways, I move forward never trust anyone with my precious cryptos.
5125  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Do exchanges need mobile apps? on: March 31, 2020, 12:38:55 PM
I recently learned from an article that various instant exchanges have mobile applications that essentially provide the same functions as the web versions. I can understand when massive platforms like Amazon create their applications. The web version in the smartphone looks rather bulky and inconvenient to use. But here, all that the user is interested in is one page with exchange pairs and an exchange button. I was wondering, why do platforms with such simple functionality create mobile applications that duplicate the functionality of the site, if everything is implemented quite simply on the web? Surely, I am missing something, so I want to put everything in its place.

I agree, maybe there are people who prefer exchanges mobile apps. But personally, I'm an old school and would rather do my trading in a huge PC screen or even a laptop. I guess to others, it's very convenient as they can do the trades on the fly. However, you need to be very careful, as a simply mistakes might lead t to a big lost on your end. Plus, I think mobile apps are less secure as compare to desktops so the risk is high as well as far as security. Perhaps you can used the mobile apps just to check, but for trading purposes I would say a desktop or laptop will be a better option.
5126  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SOS.BInance going to adquire coinmarketcap - END of decentralization and crypto on: March 31, 2020, 10:51:21 AM
This is a billion dollar business, and Binance is on top of it, and as much as we don't want this to happen, at the end of the day, the people behind coinmarketcap will have to make more money out of their business and it just so happen that Binance is more willing. We can't really stop that.

So it's either you learn to accept that fact, or move on and not trust coinmarketcap when Binance takes over, you don't need to overreact to it and call it the end of decentralisation and crypto.
5127  Economy / Economics / Re: Internet would become the most expensive commodity in the world. on: March 31, 2020, 09:54:56 AM
Good argument but I don't think that Internet will become the most expensive, on the contrary, I believed it will become more cheaper as we advance this technology. Today I'm paying around 25$ for a 10 Mbps. Yes, you might say that this is expensive basing on the speed as compare to other countries. But I used to pay $50 back then just like 10 years ago, and back then the service has horrible, and the company has a poor service.

But with the advent of latest trend, and more companies joining the picture, services here become cheap because of competition. Actually you can see a lot of marketing in the streets trying to lure someone to get out of their current services provider and moved to the new and latest and fastest provider. Although, I'm locked for 1 year, which I just renew every year. They even offer me some Iphone (old model obviously) just to keep me with them, Lol.
5128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Corona Coin Head Developer Just Exit Scammed on: March 30, 2020, 11:24:06 AM
Every single Corona coins have no use case, why did people invest on them? For what reason? We have Bitcoin and other coins that's been around for years now, why Corona coin? It's simply foolishness to invest in such useless coin
Perhaps investors want to take advantage of its hype to make more profit. But anyway, it was a stupid decision to invest in this bullshit project. We have hundreds of other projects better than it and have more futures that need to invest

Obviously, it is, I think there are people who have made money out of this Corona related project, but it is very dangerous for a newbie to join thinking that they are making a difference by investing on this so called coins.

Now it has proven that motivates those actors behind, not to really help people but take the money out of unsuspecting victim. And I'm sure, one-by-one, these kind of projects are going to exit scam and it's going to be too late before someone realised that.
5129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stimulus plus halving could cause the real crypto bull on: March 30, 2020, 10:46:40 AM
To simplify:

 - BTC enthusiast or BTC maximalist to take the money to buy more bitcoin

 - new interested people coming in because they heard that bitcoin is a good leverage will buy pushing the
   price to the next level.

In theory this might work, but then how many are smart and see bitcoin's many benefit? Will they really go to an assets as volatile as bitcoin? Or would rather stay safe and put those money in other markets? There's still a lot of factors to consider before someone really put their fiat on bitcoin at this point.
5130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 30, 2020, 09:53:39 AM
It must be very hard right now for sports athletes with the lock down around the world as it will be tough to stay fit during this. I know there are ways to stay fit however it won't be the same as practising on a tennis court which so many do. Its looking like we won't see any sports return this year which can help Federer however he will then need to work on his fitness and not being able to practice on courts it he may find it hard to reach peak fitness.

Given that Roger Federer is still in recovery, I'm sure that he will extend his rehabilitation until everything has settled down. I will consider Federer an elite athlete (who wouldn't?) so for me it's going to be easy for him to recover and return to his peak form. They also have high level trainers to keep them fit in this time and I'm sure they have their own home gym to keep most of the athletes busy if the games are going to be suspended throughout the year.

@vella85 I beg to differ as these are high paid athletes who can afford the best dieticians, and hire professional personal trainers to help them remain fit during this lockdown. As far as Federer is concerned it’s probably his last year, and it’ll be a miracle if he can continue next year too as he’s aged, and has suffered many injuries too hence I feel it’s the perfect time for him to retire from the sports at the end of the year.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/tennis/1219140/Roger-Federer-planning-to-retire-in-a-different-way

That's what I'm trying to say, they have made so much money in the circuit, so they can hire the best trainers, best therapist or even the best dieticians, and he even have a personal chef to keep them in tip top form even at this lock down period.

https://fitnessclone.com/roger-federer/

But, retiring this year? Nah, it he continues to win after his comeback, retirement will be delayed, that's for sure.

Yes he might have the best trainers to help him keep fit and most likely all players have trainers right now helping them stay fit but its a big difference from keeping fit to playing matches. I do think it will be for all players once tennis returns, it shouldn't affect most players but I do suspect it will some players.

But I guess top caliber tennis athletes knows how to pace themselves to really get out of the boredom right now and push themselves as if there is no lockdown at all. I would agree, but I think some players can play with each others as some of them are close to each other. Or they can even hire someone to play against and just to keep them busy. Not going into full swing, but at least the mental game is still there and it will be just needed to turn on the switch again if the game resumes in June or whatever timeframe it is.
5131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOT (HOLO) good to invest ?? on: March 30, 2020, 07:20:27 AM

Of course, technically, every coin is good to invest specially at low price.

But you have to be very careful, you have to always monitor the price of it, so there is a big risk on your end. Although it has been listed on Binance, it doesn't mean that the coin is really that good to be able to make it through this bear market. Binance has the uncanny practice of just delisted tokens, so we really don't know how far can this coin go before being delisted. So if there is no liquidity, just a matter of time before it will be delisted, just saying.
5132  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the government understand? on: March 30, 2020, 05:42:56 AM
I think everyone government around the world today are thinking of their people and how to help them alleviate the current and looming recession. As you have said, US stimulus package, but I think it will not be enough though. We can only get that much help from the government, sad to say, to each its own right now.

As for crypto enthusiast, yes we have some leverage, specially if you have save a lot in the last couple of years. But I don't know if that is also enough to last in the next 12-18 months. I have buckets of like 6 -12 months, but I need to also conserve it because we really don't know what's going to happen if vaccine has not yet discovered 12-18 months from now.
5133  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Trading crypto coach still scamming people. on: March 30, 2020, 04:16:47 AM
But I also blame people who follow directions from channels already tagged as scam by telegram. Alt-least telegram tries to do as much as they can by warning folks in advance.

And I already don't understand how people are gullible to join those scam telegram groups even though they have been warned. And then when they lost their hard earn money, they will bitch around in this community and shouting out that they have been scammed by this so called trading signals groups. When are people going to learn from the past mistakes of others? Do they really need to wait to experience the same thing to them?

So this is a continuous battle, once his group is deleted-> make another group scam people, his Telegram being reported-> shutdown by Telegram-> create another group.
5134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people here would choose bitcoin as their form of payment? on: March 30, 2020, 03:42:54 AM
Yes 50/50 would be a good ratio. We all know that bitcoin is not yet universally accepted ay payment option so I guess if given the chance to received a paycheck again? I would allot 50% of that and the rest fiat so that I can used it for my daily needs.

The beauty of it is that you can hedge at least 50% of your salary to bitcoin, some sort of savings in the long run.
5135  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic crisis is Hoax? COVID19 Not Deadliest one! on: March 30, 2020, 02:06:51 AM
From what I understand, this is a new strain so definitely scientist was caught off guard. And even though we have far advanced regarding medical technologies, there are still a lot of unknowns, just like in this case. So it really takes time to developed something like a vaccine to fight this virus. So there's a lot of experiments to be done her, before medical experts can finally say that they already find a cure. So we can't really compare those pandemics to corona virus as far as the number of deaths.

As far as those conspiracy theories, I don't want to delve with that, I already form my own opinion.
5136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This seems fake to me- Bitcoin Trader on: March 29, 2020, 01:28:56 PM
Yes, thats obviously a scam site. You should at least post the site here using the code tag so that it won't be clickable and Google won't scrawl here.

Thank you so much, I have found how to use the code tag, the Bill Gate video had no connnection with the website, it is from  YouTube I think. So, it is not related to the site at all.

Yes, I understand, what I meant is that I used that image you posted on Bill Gates to look for similar sites, since you haven't posted the site itself.

And it seems scammers are using it as a tool to lure potential victims to their scam websites.

Another similar site:

5137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will 2020 be exactly what we hoped for anymore on: March 29, 2020, 01:09:56 PM
Good day friends and family on here, here are few questions disturbing my little mind since I wasn't expecting this virus this year, I thought this year will actually be the best since years ago, but it seems I'm wrong

1. Will Bitcoin halving have impact on crypto market this year with the virus outbreak?

Basing on previous historically logs, it seems to be the only catalyst for the imminent bull run that we all have been waiting, but with the corona virus outbreak, after the halving, it might take some time to see that bull run.

2. Is Coronavirus benefiting crypto at all?

Short term? No, but long term, if the stimulus package that US is going to do, there could be US investors that might put that money in crypto, in my opinion.

3. Will New projects be able to proceed with launching and development in this outbreak?
4. What do you think will happen to bounties this year ?

So-so, we are still the bear market, so I doubt that projects and bounties are going to be that profitable. So it's going to be very difficult year.
5138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This seems fake to me- Bitcoin Trader on: March 29, 2020, 12:35:08 PM
Yes, thats obviously a scam site. You should at least post the site here using the code tag so that it won't be clickable and Google won't scrawl here.

Code:
 insert the website here

Anyhow, I try to investigate using the Bill Gates image above, and I got a hit:

Code:
https://finanzsache.com/kryptowaehrungen/bitcoin/betrug/
Code:
https://www.faktisk.no/notiser/a8/nei-olav-thon-har-ikke-investert-i-bitcoin

I think it is a review of a so called
Code:
 Bitcoin Era

Which is very similar, but one thing is for sure, those are scam sites and probably run by the same scam ring, so good catch.
5139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why I sold my 0.67 BTC!! on: March 29, 2020, 11:43:49 AM
Ok we understand your situation, indeed New York has been turning out to be the next ground zero.

I think you are not alone though, specially the panic that we have seen lately causing lots of investors to really cash it out because of the scare. Stay safe!

@Dildo Shwaggins - yeah, the fundamentals might not have change, but we haven't seen this kind of pandemic, BTC was born out of recession, this is a big test for crypto holders.
5140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Three economic signals that indicate that Bitcoin will see an increase on: March 29, 2020, 10:56:16 AM
I got confused about what the author of the article is saying:

Quote
Altogether, these three signals show that the global economy is weakening, even as older stats show strength. They’re heralding a massive weakening, and it’s likely that investors will start to flee the stock market in favour of a more stable asset, like Bitcoin. Yes, at this point in time Bitcoin is actually acting as a safe haven for investors – and there’s a reason why.

When did bitcoin become a stable asset? We all know for a fact the bitcoin is very volatile, that's why old and traditional stock person doesn't want to invest on it.
